RK!Jaune: *Carrying a child* Can you please look after her? I'm not fit to raise a kid!

CC: Look, you were the first person she ran into after opening her eyes for the first time. She's yours for now.

RK!Jaune: Well- then how do I raise her?

CC: ... you know the chasm along the northern part of the Island? Just behind that tall cliff? Every Jackalope has been able to Jump and swim across it. If you want to take care of her, you must get her to do those things, before the Great winter Comes in a year. She will have to be able to complete at least the first part mostly on her own.

RK!Jaune: ...

~A year Later~

Jackalope Ever-Afteran: Alright! This Journey has shaped us, and tested us, over millennia! Now! Join your Families! And good luck! Uh- Aha! There you are Right on time!

Jackalope Ever-Afteran: Hello juniper.

Juniper: You know my name?

JEA: Of course I do! The Rusted Knight and I go way back!

*Jaune give the afteran a knowing nod*

JEA: Now, Juniper, you have an amazing Journey ahead, I envy you! A jackalope's first migration is always a wonder. I'd like you to join my group, it's been ages since I've had a youngster with me.

Juniper: I'll do my best to keep up!

JEA: That's great to hear! Now join me on ... well ... This side!

Jaune sits on a nearby rock, his armor creaking and rattling.

JEA: ... this Bounding is a gift Jaune has given you.

Juniper: Yeah, i understand.

JEA: No, you don't. Do you see any other Jackalope here your size? The accident that took your family, saved you.

Juniper: ... I ... I hadn't thought of it like that before.

JEA: ... Funny how life works.

RK!Jaune: *Stands up, approaching the two* Thank you for looking after my d- ... For looking after Juniper.

JEA: Goodbye, Rusted KNight. I am honored to have met you. You are a tribute to ... whatever species you are!

RK!Jaune: *Scratching his scruffy beard* A little worse for wear, I'm afraid.

JEA: I'd say you shine like new.

JEA: WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR PEOPLE! IT'S TIME TO GET A MOVE ON!

The horde of Jackalope-people, more animal that Faunus were, began leaping up the edge of the cliff face, and over the natural wall.

Juniper: Well, I guess it's time ...

RK!Jaune: Yeah ...

Juniper: Will you be here when I get back?

RK!Jaune: ... No ...

Juniper: ...

RK!Jaune: I'm glad you're going where you belong.

Juniper: Jaune I ... I uh, ... you know ... that first Jump looks pretty high ... I could use a boost?

RK!Jaune: ... Really?

Juniper: *nods*

RK!Jaune: *Takes his shield off his back and loads the last of his gravity dust into it* ... ready?

Juniper: Yes.

Juniper climbed onto the shield, Jaune raising it's face skyward. All the others like Juniper were bounding up and across the rock, landing on ledges invisible to the naked eye and soaring over to the other side. A climb impossible for a human, and most faunus. Jaune Crouched, readying to throw Juniper as high as Possible, while Juniper readied to leap.

The sound of the Repulsor in Jaune's shield sounded off, Juniper putting her full force into her leap, sending her higher than any other jackalope on their bounds, nearly reaching the top of the cliff in a single moment.

Just before she disappeared over the edge of the wall, she looked back down, staring at the red speck on the ground.

Jaune stared up at his Daughter, knowing she was right where she needed to be, no matter how much it hurt for her to be away.

But Jaune knew he also had somewhere to be.

Juniper was called away to continue her journey, and when she was gone, Jaune to a long moment to keep staring at where she had been.

It was almost too hard to go ... home?

the fact that Alyx and Lewis were from Vacuo means that there's probably a way into the Ever After in Vacuo

so we might get to see the Somewhat, Juniper and Neo in future volumes

The second the rusted knight was shown in the trailer I had a feeling it was Jaune, like I figured they weren’t trying to hide that fact

But I didn’t expect to get hit with the one two punch of the jackalope named Juniper and Jaune having waited so long for team RWBY

Juniper has a weak spot behind her ear for head scritchies. Did Jaune tell Weiss, or did she find out on her own?

Weiss needed no instructions on where to find Juniper's weak spots. She took one look at the beautiful girl and was instantly drawn to her! All it took was a matter of seconds for her to find the spot under her chin that got the beautiful beast thumping her leg rhythmically! "Ooh! You're such a good girl aren't you?" Weiss was absolutely delighted to meat such a lovely lady. The stunning dear rabbit was the cutest thing beyond her wildest dreams! Even more so than Ruby's little friend that she was carrying around with her.

She couldn't bleieve that she actually got to pet the majestic jackalope, it was a dream come true as far as she was concerned. Her eyes shimmered with glowing hope, her fingers deftly running across under her chin, fingering between the fine strands of fur.

Juniper herself was having a great time, her eyes were closed and a pure smile appeared across her tight lips. She couldn't have imagined that some lovely lady was able to properly give her the same affection that master Jaune did! In fact, she'd never found someone else so endearing that she wanted to nuzzle up to the pretty girl next to her.

"Oooh! You're so cute!" Weiss giggled like a school girl as Juniper rubbed the side of her head into her face. Her arms now completely encapsulating her neck as she pulled her into a hug. If she was honest, she could stay like this forever!

okay I love the art I’ve been seeing of Jaune finding Juniper as a kitten and caring for them until they grow up into a big strong jackalope

but I’m also wondering whether it was the other way around, similar to Ruby and Little

like, Juniper finds Jaune going through it on that beach and decides

“Oh, wow. I don’t know what you are, but you’re in a bad way. You could use some company. How about I stay with you for a while and make sure you’re all right?”

‘a while’ then turned into decades, but hey, Juniper looks like they’re having a pretty good time

I love DILF Jaune as much as the next guy :3 but I’m in the camp that DOES hope Jaune reverts back to his proper age. I want Jaune not The Rusted Knight 😶 Obviously I don’t want Jaune to revert back COMPLETELY to his younger self to where he doesn’t remember anything that happened. That would be annoying >_> just appearance wise y’know? :3 I DO want him to keep Juniper though ;-;
