NOT A Cause For Celebration Or Shootings!!!
Well, we survived another Fourth of July holiday … barely.  Frankly, I am determined to move before the next one, if I’m even still alive then, for the Fire Department was called to our apartment complex at least three times on the night of the fourth, one of the fires billowing smoke right at the edge of our backyard … way too close for comfort.  And the fireworks … not just sparklers and such,…

let's recap what we've learned about the United States in the last few days.
things that are terrorism:
allegedly shooting a healthcare CEO whose company generated more pure profit (not revenue, profit) in a year than the GDP of 94 countries, exclusively by denying coverage to people who pay for it
a 42-year-old mother of 2 using the wrong combination of 7 words during a heated conversation with a call center employee at a health insurance company who was in the process of denying her health coverage.
things that are not terrorism:
mass shooting in a Black church to incite a race war
going to a BLM protest specifically to kill protestors
a neo-nazi running over a crowd of people, killing a woman
targeting and killing 23 latinos in an el paso, texas walmart
killing 12 people in a theatre, shooting 58 others, rigging your apartment with explosives
a QAnon groyper killing 7 and shooting ~50 at a 4th of July parade
killing 3 people and shooting several others at a Planned Parenthood in defense of the unborn
stalking someone relentlessly and then killing them and their child despite months of the victim making police reports
any one of the 1,200 murders committed by US police yearly, the vast majority being minorities
tightening your border while ~100 immigrants (including children) drown every year in the Rio Grande
United Healthcare killing an unnknowable number of elderly people by using faulty AI to deny medically necessary coverage
Aetna killing a woman by refusing to cover her cancer care
Blue Cross killing a 6-year-old by denying her appendicitis surgery
Cigna killing a 17-year-old child by denying her liver transplant
the pharmaceutical industry killing half a million people with opioids in the name of producing revenues in 2023 that rivaled the GDPs of countries like Spain, Mexico, and Australia.
the United States killing 45,000 people a year because they can't access health coverage
make sure you keep this guide handy the next time you find yourself interacting with your insurance company or any other millionaire, billionaire, or an individual who is part of a protected class such as a CEO or president of a corporation.

We're in Chicago for my current assignment and we're gonna try to go to the big Pride parade on Sunday!! I've never been to Pride before so might as well start with one of the best!! We took the train down into the city last weekend and got stopped for a bit because they said there was a man with a weapon on the tracks, so, like, I hope that doesn't happen again...still taking the train tho. I have yet to drive downtown and hopefully never will. Death seems preferable.

“We saw a large number of dead and injured children when we arrived,” one first responder said at the time. “They were distributed within the room in various positions. The dead with the injured.”
Timeline
8:15am:
TH was seen shaving ice off his car on Kent Road, Stirling. He left soon after and drove 5 miles to Dunblane. From Kent Road to Dunblane Primary School, it would've taken 16-18 minutes, yet TH took 1 hour and 15 minutes to get there. He had much time to reconsider.
Tumblr media
A police officer in the playground of Dunblane Primary School a day after the shooting.
9:30am:
TH intentionally parked his car near a telephone pole, getting out to sever the phone line connected to houses near the school. This was an attempt to make sure the police were delayed as long as possible.
Tumblr media
Stuffed animals and bouquets lined the front of the school after the tragedy. “May God take better care of you than this world ever did,” read one of the messages.
9:30am-9:35am:
TH entered the school and headed toward the northwest side of the building, near the gymnasium and the toilets. He fired two shots into the assembly hall stage and into the girl's toilets, hitting nobody.
Meanwhile, in the gymnasium, a class of 29/28 students, along with Gwen Mayor; Teacher, Eileen Harrild; PE Teacher, and Mary Blake; Assistant Teacher, were in the middle of their PE lesson.
Tumblr media
"This was an a day I shall not forget. As the newscaster read out the names of those small innocent and unknowing children my son's name - Ross Irvine - was included in that list. My Ross was born on 19th July 1989 and at the time of this awful catastrophe he looked liked any 7 year old, unkempt hair, food around his mouth and that stupid didn't know any different boyish grin. I loved him them and love him even more as he enters his 4th and final year at uni and looks forward to a career with Barclays Bank after a rigorous selection process. Ross Irvine- Dunblane-could have had the same opportunities as my Ross Irvine -but his demise has changed the future of everone else from there on. We, and my my Ross have a lot to thank Ross for. God bless." - Don Irvine, Ross Irvine's father.
9:35am-9:37am:
TH entered the gymnasium and fired immediately, shooting Gwen Mayor, and killing her. Eileen Harrild was shot in the arms and chest, stumbling into an open planned storage cupboard with four other children and Mary Blake, who was shot in the head and both legs.
At the same time, TH moved to the east of the gymnasium, firing six shots at the wall, and whilst walking, turned around and fired eight shots, possibly, at the west side, also. Striding back to the centre of the gym, he mercilessly fired 16 shots into injured children at point-blank range. Another 24 shots were fired in all directions of the gym, including the windows next to the fire exit, and the southeast, at a possible adult in the playground). 4 more shots were fired.
An adult and child heard the loud bangs and screams and went to check what was happening. They looked through the window, causing TH to fire towards them. The glass shattered and injured the child, though none of the two were seriously injured. TH exited the gym through the fire exit. He fired four shots into a library classroom, injuring Grace Tweddle, a member of staff, but not hitting any students inside.
Tumblr media
Emma Crozier, who died aged five in the Dunblane Primary School shooting. Her family now advocates against gun violence, having spoken to the parents of some of the children afflicted by the Parkland Shooting.
9:38am-9:40am:
Inside a mobile classroom nearest to the fire exit, Catherine Gordon was teaching her class. She saw TH approaching, bravely shouting for all of her students to get down seconds before he fired 9 shots inside, hitting school equipment, a chair and some books. But no students.
TH turned tail and walked back to the gymnasium. He stood blankly, dropping one pistol and pulling out his revolver, placing the barrel at the back of his mouth, pointing upwards and shooting, killing himself.
Tumblr media
Alison Ross’s sister Joanna was one of the 16 children who were murdered.
9:41am:
Assistant Headmistress, Agnes Awlson, alerted the Headmaster, Ronald Taylor, who called the police. He had heard the loud bangs and shots beforehand, saying he "assumed the noises were builders he had not been told about". He felt immeasurable guilt about the situation.
Tumblr media
Ron Taylor is still “racked by guilt” 20 years later. “Evil visited us yesterday. We don’t know why.”
9:43am:
Ronald Taylor ran toward the gym, catching a view of what had happened, and told Fiona Eadington, Deputy Headmistress, to call the ambulance.
Tumblr media
Charlotte Louise Dunn, "She was always talking about her little brother. And after she moved she wrote to me and would send me pictures of her new life in Scotland."
9:48am:
Stirling Royal Infirmary was informed of a major incident.
Tumblr media
Some of the victims are pictured above, most likely the class that was in the gymnasium at the time of the shooting.
9:57am:
The first ambulance arrived at the scene.
Tumblr media
“That is the one regret I have, I’d like her mother to have been with her when she died. I’d liked her to have had her mum. That’s an absolute betrayal.” Mhiari MacBeath's mother on the death of her daughter.
10:04am:
A medical team from Dunblane Health Centre arrived.
Tumblr media
10:15am:
Stirling Royale Infirmary arrives on the scene.

ONE OF THE PICTURES RELEASED BY POLICE OF THE HOME OF MASS KILLER THOMAS HAMILTON.
10:35am:
Falkirk and District Royal Infirmary arrive, with Doune and Callender's medical teams arriving a few minutes earlier.
Tumblr media
Tony Blair lays a wreath outside Dunblane Primary School whilst John Major comforts his wife Norma.
11:10am:
By this time, all injured were cleared and at the hospital.
Tumblr media
Gwen Mayor is remembered as an “intelligent, elegant, vivacious and artistic” person.
Summary:
743 rounds of ammo in total. 106 shots were fired. 105 by the pistol. 1 by the revolver. 32 gunshot wounds, all between a three to four-minute time period, 16 of which were inside the gymnasium.
Children with injuries were taken to either the District Royal Infirmary or the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Glasglow. One child died en route to the hospital.
TH wore shooting earmuffs, telling us that he was still relatively new to firing guns, as he was unused to the noise it generates.

In 2022, there was a mass shooting in my town during our 4th of July parade. Goyim refused to acknowledge it as an antisemitic attack despite the town being about 50% Jewish and the shooter having a history of antisemitism. They're bringing the parade back this year after not holding it in 2023, and given how normalized antisemitic violence has become in the past 9 months, I am terrified that something is going to happen. My family is straight-up not leaving the house until after the 4th.
Because I know where you live (I live like, one town over), I'm going to use discretion and post this without queue. I would say your family is taking a reasonable precaution given what's been going on in our area generally. However, given what happened, I think that all the parades in our county are going to have 110% security. If anything happens, go to the police. I have knowledge of some of the ppl who work in law enforcement here and they are being extremely vigilant to any possible antisemitism this summer. Best of luck to you and your family.

At Least 87 Shot By Sunday Morning During July 4th Weekend in Chicago
At least 87 people were shot, 16 of them fatally, by Sunday morning of July 4th weekend in Mayor Brandon Johnson’s (D) Chicago.
Breitbart News reported at least 58 people were shot in the city during the first portion of the holiday weekend, Wednesday night to Friday night alone.
The violence was so great that ABC 7 / Chicago Sun-Times pointed out one Chicago resident referred to July 4th as “assassination day.”
By Sunday morning the total number of shooting victims was at least 87.
ABC 7 / Chicago Sun-Times noted that many of the incidents involved multiple gunmen and also included drive-by shootings (where the number of gunmen is unknown).  More than one incident was described as “mass shooting,” with numerous lives taken in that fashion.

Gun violence and accidental gun deaths in the United States have become a serious threat to public health in recent years. Even worse, all indicators suggest casualties due to guns will continue rising. There has been a steep increase in suicides and murders involving guns over the past decade, reaching record or near-record highs. This includes the significant jump in murders observed during the pandemic, and unfortunately, there hasn’t been any shortage of gun violence in 2023. In fact, this summer has already been marked by a large number of mass shootings, including several over the 4th of July holiday.
Gun violence is not often considered in the context of public health and health policy. However, with these staggering numbers, gun violence is emerging as one of the leading causes of death for Americans. Deaths by guns include more than just homicides and mass shootings, encompassing suicides and accidental deaths as well. This range of gun-driven issues affects both adults and children, with data commissioned by the U.S. Congress Joint Economic Committee Democratic Staff finding that gunshot wounds are the leading cause of death for children. Suicides make up a large portion of all deaths due to guns, and firearm suicides among teenagers and children in the U.S. have been on the rise.
The mental health toll caused by exposure to gun violence has also been well documented. Multiple studies have found that exposure to gun violence increases suicidal ideation, PTSD, depression, and anxiety, among other effects. Notably, the mental health impact of gun violence is felt disproportionately by Latinos and Black Americans.
Given the implications of firearm deaths in public health, it is imperative to explore the attitudes of residents in New Mexico regarding the utilization of Medicaid funding to address this social issue. New Mexico is an ideal state to analyze given the frequency of gun-related deaths in the state. The state ranked 3rd highest in the nation in 2021 for rates of gun violence with higher than average rates of gun fatalities for youth and adults alike. Following multiple deaths of young children in the state, Governor Lujan Grisham declared a public health crisis and immediately implemented emergency directives that included preventive measures such as monthly inspections of firearms dealers in the state and protecting children in public parks and playgrounds.
Public sentiment on using Medicaid dollars to address gun violence
As illustrated in earlier work, voters are highly supportive of policy interventions aimed at addressing gun violence and gun control. However, there has not been much data specifically focused on the utilization of Medicaid funding to tackle gun violence. This limitation is highlighted in the public opinion research utilizing fresh data from New Mexico’s Health Services Department.
The New Mexico Health Access Survey of 1,600 New Mexican residents includes questions about several measures that reveal to the state the policy attitudes of the population regarding these initiatives. This includes the utilization of Medicaid dollars to address several social issues that negatively impact health outcomes in the state, including gun violence. The survey found that 67% of New Mexicans support allowing the use of federal Medicaid dollars to reduce gun violence and mass shootings, compared to only 15% who oppose. The remaining 17% hold a neutral position.
Support for addressing gun violence through the use of Medicaid dollars is high across essentially all sub-groups of the population—including residents of rural counties of the state, 63% of which support the proposal. This is particularly promising given the higher rates of gun ownership among rural residents and their inclination towards conservative ideology compared to residents of urban areas of the state. Although the majority of all racial groups in the state are supportive of utilizing Medicaid dollars for this purpose, Black and Latino respondents are more supportive of the policy proposal than white respondents, which is notable given that people of color are more likely to become victims of gun violence. More specifically, Black, Latino, and Native Americans in New Mexico are more likely to die from gun violence than whites in the state, and Black residents are four times more likely to die from gun violence than their white, non-Hispanic New Mexican counterparts. Although specific to one state, the proposal’s robust support should assure policy leaders in other states in their pursuit of creative interventions to address gun deaths in their states.
Interventions to consider with Medicaid dollars
Although federal Medicaid rules prohibit expenditures for most non-medical services, state Medicaid programs have been developing strategies to tap into Medicaid dollars to address social challenges and social determinants. During the pandemic, the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services provided some guidance to states on how to use Medicaid dollars to address social determinants of health.
The research on gun casualties suggests that accidental deaths are an important area to address through interventions, particularly to help protect children. Most accidental gun deaths involving children occur when kids are playing with guns, mistaking them for toys. Astonishingly, over 90% of those casualties happen with a gun that is loaded, unlocked, and accessible to the child. This implies that offering residents both educational resources regarding the hazards linked to children’s access to firearms and cost-effective or complimentary gun safety locks could significantly influence the observed concerning pattern in the data. In fact, research has found that utilizing smart gun safety systems saves lives, making them an attractive tool that can have tremendous benefits for states.
Although relatively new, several states have already initiated programs like this in their jurisdictions. This includes Minnesota, where they have given away free gun locks at their state fair to reach their goal of having a gun lock in the hands of all gun owners in the state. In Connecticut, on the other hand, the state has diverted some Medicaid funds to cover the cost of hospital-based violence intervention that is aimed at preventing gun violence victims from becoming revictimized again.
State leaders must be conscious of budget considerations within their Medicaid programs, as states have seen increased reliance on Medicaid services. There is fortunately a high projected return on investment for any interventions that can help reduce gun violence. Gun violence does not only take a human toll, but an economic one as well, as the cost of gun violence exceeds $1 billion dollars annually in initial medical costs for gunshot victims alone.
In New Mexico, gun violence costs an estimated $3,133 per resident annually, with gun deaths and injuries costing New Mexico $6.6 billion each year, of which $141.8 million is paid by taxpayers. Gunshot victims are not only very expensive to treat, but those who are able to be saved often find themselves back in the emergency room as repeat gunshot victims. Given that most of these patients are covered by Medicaid if they are insured, the use of Medicaid dollars to address this challenge is highly appropriate.

Not wishing you a happy 4th of July
America is a great country?
Great countries don't have mass shootings on a weekly basis.
Great countries don't have loony conspiracy theorists in their government.
Great countries care about their environment
Great countries value their People more than their guns or their money.
Great countries don't use their children as pawns in a game of culture and ideological warfare.
Great countries aren't dominated by tech companies and massive corporations.
Great countries know the difference between a demagogue and a legitimate leader.
Great countries place a premium on high quality education.
Great countries create jobs for their educated citizens rather than sending them off to work as Uber drivers or restaurant workers.
Great countries aren't full of people who lay around staring at their cell phones for 16 hours every day.
Great countries aren't full of citizens who all hate each other.
Great countries celebrate life rather then being full of shallow, misinformed, anti-intellectual deadbeats with no sense of class, style, or elegance. America has become a nation of bums.
Great countries don't have so-called patriots who say they love their country but hate the 60% or 70% that don't agree with them.
America, you want to be a great nation? Prove it. Actions speak louder than words. Evidence means more than belief. Saying it and doing it are two different things.
This could be a great place but you have to try a lot harder.
