Hello, come sit and enjoy my writings about my experiences with the culinary world, my favorite recipes, and my thoughts and feelings on foods I love and enjoy with a passion.

For starters, I'm Gabby Jean!

I'm a culinary student and a lifetime foodie. My family is very diverse, so I have experienced many foods from various cultures and events. I'm following in the footsteps of my grandmother, she is a chef herself, retired, but still cooking up amazing food. I will get into that another time. I also have a love for writing. I am fond of fantasy and sci-fi stories I write on Webnovel, but I wanted to start writing more about my own real-world experiences regarding food and my journey to becoming a chef. A pastry chef, more specifically!

I have a huge sweet tooth.

An inspiration for starting this blog was Julie Powell. She is the author of Julie & Julia, in which she cooked every recipe in Julia Child's cookbook, 'Mastering the Art of French Cooking' over one year. (the book was adapted into a fantastic movie 10/10 would recommend watching it!)

Julie and I share some similarities that drive me to write this blog. I, too, am a Native Texan. I hail from Fort Worth but attend school in San Antonio. I also have a hard time finishing projects, and reading about hers and watching the movie made me realize I will set a goal and finish it!

So here is the goal: Write every day, or at least once a week, until I graduate from Culinary school.

There are about two years left, as I am now midway through my second semester. It will be hard, but I know I can be up to it.

Sadly, Julie Powell passed away on October 26th, 2022, so in honor of her, I begin this blog on November 3rd, 2024, at 1 a.m.

Okay, this is slightly embarrassing but I don’t have a clue as to what these dishes are. 

I tried some researching but couldn’t find anything conclusive. Rather than spread false information, I think I’ll leave to people who might have an idea about it. Please do let me know if you know these dishes.

P.S - I believe this is one of the sweetest moments during the Julie Powell-Eric Powell relationship.
