Must be nice to brag about," you rattle on. If you're trying to seduce your way to freedom, you're failing miserably. Nightmare stalks over to your chair, his broad chest casting a shadow over you.

"Would you have that same attitude once you've been smothered beneath them? Keep mouthing off, and I might just test it."

...What? Was that supposed to be a threat? Anyway, it didn't achieve the desired effect. You blink up at him, not totally opposed to the idea.

📸 Joseph's gaze flicks to your chest. He blinks away a milisecond later, but not quickly enough to escape your notice. A cheeky grin appears on your face as if to say made you look. "I disagree," he tuts. "Remind me, which one of us is so inept with her brassieres that she needs me to unclasp them for her every night, and – despite loathing them so – dutifully puts them on again the next day, as if her poor, aching back demands it of her?" Knowing you can't say anything, he sends back a winning smile of his own.

🦎 Luchino readily cocks his attention to you. "Oh? Like what you see?" You just never noticed how visibly his chest protrudes, especially from a side view. But your comment attracts him closer to your chair, and he decides to give you a little show. Slowly, too slowly, he slips off his jacket, letting it crumple to the floor.

"Oh," escapes your lips once you realize what's going on. Next goes the first button of his shirt.

⚡ Alva sets down his pen when you drag your nails down his chest. What began as an innocuous shoulder massage quickly turned into marveling at the broadness of his pecs. He's sure you meant well, but that comment draws a sharp sigh out of him. "I'm glad to know I'm entertaining you..." he murmurs. That snaps you back to reality: you wanted to be serving him today. You kiss his shoulder blade as an apology, kneading his tense muscles until he lets out another hitched breath.

🌪️ Ithaqua takes your comment as an invitation to reach forward, cupping an icy hand over one of your breasts. It happens so fast you can barely register it. Then he decides: "They're not too bad." He has never been one for delicacy, but that was so blunt it startles you into a fit of giggles. Sometimes you forget he's inexperienced with this sort of thing.

🦌 Bane looks down at the pout you're sending him. This is the first time he's let you hug him, and you're just realizing how much you have to strain your neck to avoid being suffocated by his chest. "A bigger body just means a stronger shield. Nothing more to it than that," he says dryly. You roll your eyes. He's always so hardheaded.

"You're more like a pillow to me," you try. "I wish I had some of these."

He still doesn't give you the reaction you're fishing for. He silently clutches your waist and tips back onto his bed, so that you're properly laying on top of him -- like a pillow.

Basic background first before the good stuff<3

You were supposed be decoding, out of the way, and out of danger.

You weren’t supposed to take the hit. You weren’t supposed to be here.

It wasn’t fair when your body fell to the ground, blood splattering out underneath you into a pool of crimson liquid.

It wasn’t fair when he called out to you, and you didn’t answer, only to feel your pulse fading.

It wasn’t fair that he had to carry your limp body to Emily’s office in a panic, begging her to help.

And it wasn’t fair when she had said you might not wake up.

Ithaqua

He couldn’t sit by you the entire time you were in bed. It just reminded him of his mother.

He didn’t want to put himself through more with those terrible memories.

He’d visit you in the morning and at night.

Kissing you goodnight and kissing you good morning

Like some strange routine.

When he got the news you were awake he had dropped everything, but he didn’t run, he just had to make himself believe you were okay first.

He had to make sure this wasn’t some sick joke, and that he’d wake up in his bed only to be told you didn’t make it.

Stopping in the doorway, looking at you who seemed to be looking back at him with those surprised eyes, that beautiful smile he loved etched onto your face.

He knew after a blow like that there would be some damage, a large scar going from the side of your cheek and up to your forehead would forever be a reminder of his fuck up.

He feels terrible and sometimes it’s hard to look at you without guilt seeping in.

He doesn’t want to be like this but it’s his way of working through it.

He loves you a lot, he has dreams of marrying you and building a home far away. But now those dreams are plagued with the possibility that he’ll accidentally become the monster he tried to tell himself he wasn’t.

Joseph

Alcohol.

A lot of it.

Bottles and bottles of it by your bed side.

He refused to leave you. He couldn’t live with the fact he might of killed the only person he loved more than anything.

The only person that made this bearable. And they might be gone.

He would drink himself to sleep and he would drink the moment he opened his eyes.

Not a lot of people ever saw him cry, but now? Everyone did.

When he had a moment of soberness he’d look over and break down.

Joseph would barely shower, having to be dragged away from you and told to clean himself up, only to repeat that process.

During one of the times he was forced to bathe, he had stumbled back in, bottle in hand, only to be met with your disappointed gaze.

He knows how much you hated it when he drinks, and because of that he barely touched liquor anymore.

“You said you’d cut back on drinking.” Your voice broke the silence.

Joseph rushed over to your side, falling onto his knees and sobbing. “Stop it. Now’s no time for lecturing. I thought I had killed you. I thought you weren’t going to make it. I thought you’d be like Claud, and leave me all alone again.”

Your hand makes its way to his cheek, “I’m okay. I’d never leave you alone, I promise. These things were bound to happen. But I’ll be more careful.”

He nodded leaning into your touch.

Richard

He’s fuming mad. And of course concerned.

He was made to do one thing, protect, and he couldn’t even save the one he loves?

“What bullshit.” He’d say through gritted teeth. Watching over your body, breathing raggedly. His hands smoothing out your hair to look nice with a not so gentle hand. He’s holding himself back.

He believes this is partially your fault. You should have been out of the way. Doing your job and letting him rescue.

But no, you had to disobey, you just couldn’t listen.

He’ll look like he doesn’t want to be there when his facade slips around the others, but he really does. He hates the fact that you have a terrible possibility over your head.

And he can’t control it.

He’d make sure you look stunning even in your condition. He’d brush your hair, and make sure you’re somewhat clean. Because when you wake up he’s going to want to kiss you, remind you of the way it should be.

When he’s informed by Emily that you’ve made a recovery, hes immediately speed walking towards your room.

He wanted to be the first thing you saw, but oh well. He’ll have you back in tip top shape soon.

“Richard!” You exclaimed, reaching your hand out to him.

He takes it, kissing the back, “___, my dear. You gave me quite the scare.”

“I know.. I shouldn’t have been so foolish but-”

His lips are against yours before you can finish. It’s passionate and deep with his feelings. You can tell how much he missed you, how worried he was.

“Foolish or not, you’re still here, with me. And that’s all that matters.” He says softly, loving yet serious eyes looking into yours.

Norton

Out of everyone, him and Joseph are the two absolute messes.

Joseph might be a bit worse with his drinking but Norton becomes violent and agitated.

He’s freaking out, shoving people out of the way with more strength than necessary just to get to you.

He wasn’t there to help, maybe, if he was you’d be okay.

The possibility’s are running through his head and causing him to become anxious and angry.

Fools gold is right there behind him. Sitting in a corner silently waiting for you to awake.

Fools golds matches are either quick surrenders or he’s chairing everyone immediately.

Norton doesn’t know how to comfort himself and doesn’t particularly want his hunter version to even touch him let alone tell him nice things so he’s just suffering until you wake up.

This man actually wouldn’t leave you, even if he was dirty because he’s been like this before. It doesn’t bother him.

He had watched you wake up, your eyes being blinded by the bright light of day.

He was silent until you noticed him,

“Norton-?” You began, but the minute you spoke he jumped on you. Holding you tightly.

“Don’t you pull this shit again. You.. don’t know how worried I was.” He mumbled into your neck.

A lot of apologies were given that day and fools gold was right behind you when Norton had to go.

He may not have liked his other self but he shared the same love for you like he did. And if playing guard dog for a bit would ensure everyone to be happy and safe, then sure.

Norton doesn’t have the money to buy or get you anything fancy. It hurts his heart a little because he would love to splurge a bit on you, but also being stuck in a dangerous manor game doesn’t help either of your situations. (Especially when you are low on clues to get food…)

Norton’s love language is Physical Touch. This man is (already) all over you from the beginning to the end of your relationship. He just loves the way you feel in his arms and it makes him feel a tone better.

You should also make sure to reciprocate these actions. Norton will probably feel even more loved by you knowing that you want to touch him as well.

Please hold this man gently in your hands as he rests his head on your lap.

The Journalist

Alice most likely has her time slots filled with random things she has to get done, so as her partner, she would like you to understand and accept the fact that she can’t spend a lot of time around or with you. What she can do, are Acts of Service.

What she lacks in time management she makes up for in getting things done for you. Too tired to grab your laundry? She’s on it. Need a snack but you're too lazy to go and get it? She’ll be right back babe. And as a last resort, she would take your place in a match for you. ONLY if something bad has come up and the two of you have discussed every possible route you can take. (and only if you promise to heal her up + kiss her bandages.)

Alice adores every part of you and she seems like one to not fall very easily. So be thankful and glad to have someone like her in your life, and don’t take her for granted.

The Mercenary 

Naib loves his alone time as much as he loves you, and he loves you a lot. Like Alice, you have to understand that he sometimes needs to be on his own for the time being. You search for him if you’d like, but he’d rather only wish you do if it’s an emergency. He will seek you out when he wishes for you to see you. (and that’s often.)

Naib seems like he would also dabble in Acts of Service. He’d do a lot for you, free of charge. Well, as long as you’ll cuddle him later. (Maybe make him something sweet?) The Mercenary would go as far as to kill for you, but would only wish to resort to this if necessary.

Naib is a man of few words and has his walls up at all times. (Like someone else I know… *cough cough* GANJI *cough cough*) You’ve managed to worm into his heart and he doesn’t plan on letting go any time soon.

Cheerleader

Lily can be easily described as a bundle of energy just waiting to be released. She’s a great company and fills any void of loneliness in your bones. She is bright, funny, and overall an amazing person.

Lily has been cheering on others her entire life. Encouraging her brother as she watched him climb the ranks is a fond memory of hers and is cherished deeply. For these and many other reasons, Lily’s love language is Words of Affirmation.

To think that Lily’s enthusiasm would lack or stop when it came to you is just silly. If anything, it grows even stronger. Eli Clark is one for Words of Affirmation alongside Physical Touch. Your skin is warm against his and envelops him completely. The Seer has always kept you close to him. Whether it be his hand entangled in yours, an arm around your waist, or anything else, he enjoys keeping you close to him.

Eli knows how words can affect people, so he always tries to compliment you when he can. Your outfit, your match performance, anything, and everything gets a smile and a nice compliment from him.

The Priestess

Fiona is a self-proclaimed devotee to her god, but nowadays, she finds her devotion slipping. Her faith, disintegrating into ashes the longer she’s stuck in here. It’s given her a lot of time to think, but it’s also given her more time to spend with you. To forget about the unknown wonders of the world and just embrace your presence in its entirety.

Fiona Gilman’s love language is undoubtedly Quality Time.  She enjoys nothing more than to spend time with you outside the games. She doesn’t mind what or who it’s with, just that you're there. She also seems like she’s a sucker for picnics. Just the two of you is best, but if you insist on having others then that’s fine as well.

The Priestess has spent most of her days devoting herself to her religion and belief, which you don’t shame her for. She knows that her beliefs may not align with others, but she appreciates that you don’t give her crap about it. Beneath his haughty and withdrawn persona, he’s an incredibly observant, caring, and loyal individual—and he does his best to make sure that you feel loved whenever he’s by your side.

You might even catch the Joseph Desaulniers apologizing to the other survivor afterwards—though you’d best bet that he’s swearing them to secrecy. It’s embarrassing, truly! You know nobles like him are meant to be composed at all times..!

꒰⚔️꒱・When it comes to facing you in matches, well… It really does depend. His most common strategies include going friendly for your entire team ꒰and spending the time by your side꒱ or simply avoiding you until everybody else has been chaired and he can give you dungeon. However, there are times that he’ll have to go full swing on you—he fears that the baron might punish the both of you, otherwise. He tries to be gentle on you when this happens, grazing you ever so lightly with his rapier, but he’ll always come running to Emily’s infirmary once the match is over… just to make sure.

꒰⚔️꒱・Assuming that you haven’t been hurt by him in a match, though, it does take some time for him to catch back up with you. Joseph is a massive cleanfreak, and absolutely despises the idea of being dirty—something caused both by his social status and the illness that took Claude away from him. He tends to make a beeline to his shower whenever he returns from matches, a habit that you’ve gradually come to pick up due to his hesitancy to cuddle with you when you haven’t. All things considered, it is a good habit, so you don’t mind it all that much.

꒰⚔️꒱・When it comes to things like PDA, I do imagine Joseph falling more on the conservative side ꒰once again due to his upbringing꒱. He’d really only engage in it when he’s feeling jealous, and for the most part prefers to keep all amorous gestures private… though he won’t complain nor attempt to stop you if you give him a quick kiss on the cheek, or something similar. He does, however, use a lot of French nicknames and terms of endearment for you—both in private and public. Mary enjoys teasing him for it, and offers to translate them for you if you don’t know French.

꒰⚔️꒱・Circling back to his fixation on cleanliness, the worst thing for him is falling sick. He’s quick to become upset if he notices himself falling under the weather, and he’ll quickly try to find something to blame for it. While this can grate on the nerves of whoever’s caring for him, being angry distracts him from his fear—though he’ll try to tone things down if he notices that he’s riling you up. Regardless, he’s grateful that you’re putting in the effort to care for him, even if he initially tries to shoo you off for the fear of getting you sick, too.

꒰⚔️꒱・If you’re the one sick, however, things tend to go much differently. He’s a mix of worried and distant whenever it happens, constantly obsessing over your condition and endlessly pestering Emily—begging her to make sure that you’re alright. At the same time, however, you won’t catch a single sight of him while you’re still ill—the thought of seeing you in such a state causing his stomach to churn. He’s quick to apologize once you’re better, pressing kisses on every part of skin that he can reach… Though expect a slight scolding to accompany his tenderness.

꒰⚔️꒱・Ending this with a cuddling headcanon..! Joseph absolutely adores having you close to him. Whether it be you sitting in his lap while he reads a book or him having an arm wrapped around you as he rants about bad matches and annoying survivors, cuddling is a necessity for him. He’s not against the idea of falling asleep while holding you, either, but be warned that his grip gets shockingly tight once he drifts off. While attempts at escape don’t fully wake him, he’ll try to convince you to stay with half-asleep murmurs of ‘don’t leave, mon ange…’ or ‘stay a little, mon amour…’. Unfortunately for you, they’re rather effective.

He’d be so scared, for a moment he wouldn’t know what to do

He’s never expect to see you with arms with recently dried blood

At first Naib would seem so angry, asking things like “What the fuck is this?” “The hell’s going on?!”

But it would quickly end when he looks again at your scars, he tells you to stay put as he comes back with bandages

He’s scarily silent when he’s wrapping your arms up you don’t have a clue what he’s thinking while he’s doing this

As soon as he’s done he finally breaks. You were expecting to be scolded but instead he hugged you tightly, he’s never held you this tightly before

For a second you were confused but when you felt tears drip on your shoulder you realized how scared he was and how much he cared for you

He was terrified, he didn’t want to lose you, he didn’t want you to leave his side

After what felt like an eternity of silence he told you that this wasn’t going to help, that there’s so many better ways and this definitely wasn’t a solution to whatever problems you had going on

He’d be scared of leaving your side, he stays by your side almost 24/7 and is holding you close

When you’re asleep (or when he thinks you’re asleep) it would be the only time he’d cry, he can’t handle the thought of you dying on him

He’s only angry at himself for not doing something earlier, but he wants to get over it for you to do something for you now

When he first saw them he thought they were from matches but the lies he told himself stopped working

He couldn’t fool himself, matches wouldn’t give scars like that, give scars aligned in such a specific way

When he came to the realization his heart sank, he felt sick to his stomach

He felt like throwing up because he knew people who did this often had a reason, a reason very well known

He’d sob so much, he’d do it for hours. He too can’t handle the thought of losing you, he’s already lost his brother he doesn’t want to lose you as well

The next time he sees you his hair’s a mess, his shirt’s wrinkled and there are heavy dark circles under his eyes

After enough words of reassurance have been said to the both of you he’s hesitant but loosens his grip and lets you go

But he won’t let you leave his side, even if you have a match. He’ll find a way to let you be excused

Only when (if you’re a survivor) you’re matched with him he’ll let you go, on the condition you meet him at a selected spot. He completely ignores other survivors and stays out of their sight with you, if they get too annoying or make an even slightly rude comment to you they’re instantly getting chaired or bled out

On the days you don’t leave he’s in bed with you holding you close and making sure you know you’re loved

He only ever gets up to get you food, water and to fix a bath for the two of you

And even when he’s getting food he’s carrying you so you stay with him

It takes him a while but he eventually calms down a bit and lets you do your own thing

He’ll always worry, but over time he gets better at acting he isn’t scared anymore while letting you know he cares

Xie Bi’an and Fan Wujiu

They’d be the most understanding, especially Xie Bi’an

When they first see your scars they don’t point it out right away, they could be old and not everyone is okay with talking about it

But when they notice them growing more and you doing more things to hide your arms like wearing long sleeves and wearing jackets even if it’s a hot day, their concern grows more and more

Fan didn’t exactly know how to approach the topic, he wants to show he cares but he doesn’t know how to, so Xie says he can do most of the talking

Xie gently asks you if you can talk, promising nothing bad will happen and nobody’s mad or disappointed

When he does his voice is soft and soothing

He asks you what’s been going on in your mind and if you really have been harming yourself, he knows but he wants to know if you trust him enough to be honest

When you tell him the truth, he just holds you close, he asks if you want to talk about any of your problems, telling you he understands exactly how you feel but it won’t solve anything, and taking the bigger step is just going to cause more pain

Fan does come in to comfort you as well, doing a bit more talking so Xie doesn’t get too overwhelmed with bad memories

He reassures you it’ll all be okay like Xie said, he says it isn’t the answer

They know it’ll be hard but they want you to try and stop. Not for them but for yourself, you need to do it for yourself

They won’t cling to you but they will be around you a bit more then usual and do check ins once in a while

Xie does sometimes cry when you’re not around, he and Fan talk about their worries in this situation

They may not be sobbing but they really are scared and worried, they care so much

They make little promises to you that life will get better, that everything will get better soon, and they’ll be by your side the whole time

Emma says it regularly throughout conversation, and with most hellos and goodbyes. For some people, it might be too much, but she means it every time.

Ithaqua says it several times whenever either of you has to go, to kiss up when you’re upset with him, and as part of his case whenever he wants to convince you not to do something.

Victor signs off every letter to you, big or small, with some form of it. He says it less verbally, but always during meaningful moments.

Eli doesn’t want to go overboard and says it just a little above average. He’s a bit of a romantic and has a very good sense for when are the best times to lay it on you. It’s very sweet!

Antonio probably sets the standard for this, honestly. Once a day is his average, but he also says it whenever he’s exasperated with you. (Both as a reminder to himself to be patient, and as a signal for you to ease up on him.)

Aesop is also pretty average, though it sounds choked about half the time. He finds it a little embarrassing to say it, but since he knows it’s an important part to romantic relationships, he forces himself to say it more than is natural for him. But don’t feel bad, you’re worth the discomfort.

Naib is a little scared to. “I love you” makes it real, and real hurts even more if something happens to you. That said, he knows he can’t let his fear rule over an important aspect of the relationship like that. He takes longer than most to say it for the first time, but after that says it reasonably often, like once every few days. He always says it before one of you enters a match, too.

Kevin is perhaps a bit shocking because he is such a flirt. He just busies his mouth with so many other compliments that “I love you” doesn’t get to slip out as much. If you ever mention that it’s been a while since he’s said it, he starts tripping over himself to shower you with it.

Norton just forgets a lot of the time. Actions speak louder than words, as far as he’s concerned, so telling you verbally isn’t something that crosses his mind. He will get better with time if you communicate that it’s an issue for you.

Joseph thinks you’re just supposed to know, honestly. He says it only in private, deeply meaningful moments and nothing more than that. He doesn’t really care if it’s an issue that he says it so sparingly…unless you cry. Then he might care a little.

Ithaqua is fiercely protective of his boundaries, making him seem aloof towards most things. But when he gets close with someone, it’s like a switch goes off in him.

He fusses over you often -- trekking through the snow, he’ll always keep a hand hovering around you in case you trip. He also likes to walk directly in front of you while holding your hand, knowing you tend to lose focus of your surroundings when you’re drowsy.

Has a knack for soothing you to sleep, replicating techniques that his mother would use on him: humming her lullabies to you, stroking your hair, or softly talking with you until you’re too tired to keep going.

Everyday he hangs your blankets by the fire, so they’re warm and toasty whenever you need them. He wishes he thought of doing this when his mom was around, but he’s happy to do it for you now.

Doesn’t really cuddle with you. He feels more secure sitting in a nearby chair where he can watch over you.

The most he’ll do is hold your hand, or sometimes even let you pull him down for a kiss... but you’d have a hard time getting him to leave that chair. He’s always on guard in case of unwelcome visitors.

Joseph 📸

Joseph looks forward to finding you asleep in random spots around the manor. It means he can carry you back to bed <3

He has a very gentle, rhythmic walk, so you usually sleep through it. But every once in a while you wake up in his arms, and he jokingly complains that you’ll sleep anywhere except next to him.

It’s common for you to come over to wherever he’s sitting and rest your head against his shoulder. He’ll bring you into his lap so you can rest comfortably, and also use the chance to take a break himself.

The type to keep saying he’s got work to do, but doesn’t resist you at all. You’re always a very welcome interruption.

He fell into a habit of playing with your fingers while you doze off next to him. Now, even when you’re not there, his hand mindlessly wanders to find you.

He’ll act as if he was reaching for something else, whether or not someone was watching him.

Waking you up is one of his favorite things to do. He loves watching you curl into his chest for one more minute of warmth, and he’ll pepper kisses up your jawline as an apology for disrupting your sleep <3

Yet, underneath it all, they have a gentler, modest, and vulnerable side. (Near as I can tell like, Furina from Genshin, for example, if I didn't explain it well)

The wiki describes Joseph as someone who is highly self-disciplined, follows all the rules, and holds himself to very high standards. He never lowers his standards when dealing with others. I think it would be interesting to meet someone with a personality that contrasts with his.

At first, he thought the fact that you had a mini Wu Chang as your pet was pretty cute, until you began giving it more affection than you gave him.

Of course, he was happy that you were happy, but the bitter pangs of jealousy began creeping up on him.

‘Qin ai de - ah, you’re playing with your pet again... Well, please don’t let me disturb you.’

He wanted to say something else, but left as you hugged the mini Wu Chang to your chest.

He’d plan dates with only you and him (and Wujiu, if you were also dating him) and amp up the sulking if you had brought your pet with you.

‘How dare you! You are my lover first, and then the owner of that pet second. Now, as we wait for your teammates to rescue you, shall we have a lovely chat?’

Slightly puzzled, you were rescued by your teammate and Mary continued to chase you.

Be prepared for intense courting, European style, after you finish every match. She can’t stand someone else sweeping you off your feet, even if it’s a mini version of her.

‘Ma chere/mon cher, I had Emma pick the best flowers for you. Now be a dear and let me braid these in your hair/make you a flower crown.’

The Frenchies are very similar in how they react to your pet. How lovely of you to have a little remainder of him every where you go! To By God, why are you giving it more attention than you give him?

He’ll also attempt to win your attention by going on more extravagant dates, and all in all spending more time with you.

‘Beau, would you like for me to show you some recipes that… Claude and I used to enjoy? Can you bring your pet? No, I’m afraid it may cause a mess.’

Out of your sight, he’d be rather petty with his mini version. From glaring to knocking if off the table, he’s not going to accept another competitor. Of course, he’d stop if you asked, begrudgingly, but be sure to reassure him that he’ll be the only one in your eyes.
