Discover the Healing Powers of CBD Cream for Tennis Elbow
If you're an avid tennis player, a personal trainer, or just someone who engages in activities that involve repetitive arm movements, you've likely heard of 'tennis elbow.' This painful condition isn't exclusively for athletes as its name might suggest. The good news is that an effective, non-invasive remedy has surfaced from the rapidly expanding world of natural wellness – CBD cream. This article will delve into how you can find relief from tennis elbow with CBD cream in a way that's simple, effective, and completely natural.
Understanding Tennis Elbow:
Also known scientifically as Lateral Epicondylitis, tennis elbow results from repetitive arm movements that cause inflammation and pain in elbow joint. Be it painting, cooking, playing musical instruments or indulging in sports like tennis, these consistent and often rigorous activities can lead to the wear and tear of muscles, triggering the discomfort known as tennis elbow.
Demystifying CBD and CBD Cream:
Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of the hundreds of compounds found in the cannabis plant, renowned for its myriad therapeutic benefits. Unlike THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), the compound in cannabis responsible for its psychoactive effects, CBD will not get you 'high.'
CBD cream is a topical application that contains CBD derived from the hemp plant, a variety of cannabis with minimal THC content. Infused with natural ingredients like olive oil, shea butter and aloe vera, CBD cream is designed to moisturize the skin while delivering the wellness benefits of CBD. CBD Cream as a Solution for Tennis Elbow:
CBD cream is celebrated as a natural alternative for traditional over-the-counter (OTC) medications. Here’s how it could be your perfect solution:
Anti-Inflammation:
CBD cream may work wonders for people suffering from tennis elbow due to its potential anti-inflammatory properties. It's believed to work by interacting with the body’s endocannabinoid system (ECS) that controls various functions, including our response to pain and inflammation.
Pain Relief:
The said interaction with the ECS can also result in an analgesic (pain-relieving) effect. That means applying CBD cream directly to the source of the pain may help to manage it effectively.
Quick Absorption and Relief:
CBD creams typically have quick absorption rates. This means that users can often experience relief just a few moments after application, offering an immediate solution during painful bouts.
How to Use CBD Cream for Tennis Elbow:
Just add a small amount of the cream on the affected area and rub it gently but thoroughly. Make sure to cleanse the area before application for maximum absorption. Be sure to follow the usage instructions on the packaging.
Conclusion:
Regardless of whether you're a professional athlete, high-powered executive, or a stay-at-home parent, nobody needs to live in constant discomfort. CBD cream might just be the solution for the pain and inflammation caused by tennis elbow. Offering swift relief in a completely natural manner, CBD cream is giving many individuals a new lease on life without the adverse effects of traditional medications. Be sure to consult with your doctor or professional health consultant before starting any new treatment.
Take control of your well-being and make peace with your persistent elbow pain using this natural splendor of wellness, CBD cream.

Soak The Head In Vinegar
Over time, hard water deposits can build up in the holes of your shower head, restricting the spray of the water and forcing it to back-up around the faceplate or out from the junction of the showerhead and arm. Fixing a mixer valve can be a fairly simple process, depending on your shower. Listed below are some of the ways a bathroom waterproofing repair service can assist in making repairs.
1. Turn off the water supply to the shower. You’ll most likely need to turn off the main water supply to your home to do this. This is usually done via your stop tap, which is found under your kitchen sink.
2. Remove the mixer valve handle. This is held on by a screw either under a screw cover on the front of the handle or by a small set of screws on the side of the handle. Remove the screw cover by carefully prying up the side of it with a flat-head screwdriver.
3. Remove the mixer valve faceplate and put it to one side. Then pull off the stop tube – if there is one you’ll find it behind the faceplate
4. Remove the cartridge. There are several types of cartridges depending on the brand of the water fitting. Your shower leak repair service can ascertain the specific cartridge you need for each specific tap. Some cartridges are kept in place by a round metal ring. If this is the case, you’ll need to unscrew it anticlockwise. Others have a key which can be removed, by pulling it up and out vertically. After the retaining screw or ring is removed, grasp the cartridge barrel with water-pump pliers and pull it out towards you.
5. Insert a replacement cartridge of the same type. Shower cartridges can be purchased from most DIY stores and come in many different forms, so it’s always advised to contact your shower manufacturer to make sure you get the correct type. Replace the key or ring that secures the cartridge in place. If the faceplate and chrome stop was removed, replace those too. Finally, reinstall the handle and screw covers.

Viva “Violensia”! New Jesse Daniel Edwards Album Out Now
(personal narrative starts here… skip if you only want to hear about the album)
Everyone should have a facilitator – someone in your corner to tell you the things you dream about – the crazy to the mundane- are not that far out of reach.
I’ve had many facilitators. I’ve tried, in turn, to fill that need for my friends.
This time it was my husband.
I wasn’t even trying. We JUST went on the mini tour with Salim. My needs should have been sated for awhile yet.
Doug, I sigh. Doug, Jesse’s album dropped the same day as Salim’s – June 23rd. His album release show is 06/30/23. It’s a Friday… 800+ miles away. We were JUST in Nashville for The Church and it was… expensive (we flew.)
Doug doesn’t even blink. Ask for it, tell your boss you’ll get your Friday work done early. We’ll drive it.
This feeling. Right here. If I could bottle… I love being surprised and this was joyful. I had *no* idea I could even hope for this and POOF there it is. A reasonable plan to accomplish this most primal of needs: to be front and center for music I love.
I get all my work done. I don’t hear from my boss about my leave. I pack anyway. I rage (quietly as is my way). I am a GOOD EMPLOYEE. I’ve only called in sick twice in the last three years and that was for COVID. Righteous indignation flows from every fiber of my being. I am about to get real ‘sick’. Uh huh. Don’t mess with me.
The long and short is they missed my request. It’s fine. I got Friday’s work done on Thursday. And just like that, Cinderella is allowed to go to the ball.
I log off my computer, car already packed, Doug awaits to whisk me off on the first leg of our journey. 6+ hrs gets us to Arkadelphia (“… freedom! Shine the light…”) The rest of the journey puts us in Nashville at 2ish. We sleep. Like the dead.
Awake.
Clean up. Get presentable. The venue website says, “Dress to impress” (it also likens itself to the Viper Room, but I would say only a 21st century Viper Room with Yelp reviews to contend with. A Viper Room genuinely concerned with both the use of coasters and Your Good Time.) It’s hard to “bring it” any harder than we do normally on a show night, but we try. I wear make up (never a guarantee) and Doug picks the spiffiest paisley shirt he brought.
The venue – The Eighth Room – has PARKING… A limited amount, but… (angelic singing) PARKINNNNNGGGG… regardless.
The side of the building sports artful “grafitti” – Rockstars live here. Good. We’re home then, I joke.
The Kraken tentacle door pull… is locked. I look up. There’s a camera. Please, Mr Eye in The Sky… please let us in…it’s hot. There’s a click. We walk in… and are immediately told things aren’t ready yet. Ok, I’m going to stand right here and not be in anyone’s way while being 2 degrees cooler than I was out there. Ok?
Not ok.
We are shuffled back outside.
Uh, why did you unlock the door then? They remedy this by locking it behind us.
We steam gently on the pavement for an interminable length of time. I start to wilt… sadness… I wore makeup on purpose for this.
*CLICK*
We are allowed back in!!! All is forgiven. The inside is dark and cold and… oh sweet Saint of Achy Joints and Bad Backs… there is a COUCH. I sink deliciously in to it and experience something rarely afforded me at shows: comfort.
I order a Diet Coke (psttt… use of coasters… that was foreshadowing) that I sip while goggling at my surroundings. There are statues with painted sayings emblazoned on them (“No more fake friends.”) Mirrors. Every surface is a different pattern, but it all works together. There is a stage directly in front of us hung with crushed velvet curtains.
There’s a fleeting pang in my chest. Had our business situation not prematurely folded last Summer, this is the type of space I would have wanted our venue to be.
I set the Diet Coke on the glass top table behind me and reach for what I thought might be a menu — later, a ghost appears unnoticed and places a folded napkin under my drink to catch the condensation. I am completely oblivious. Instead of a list of cocktails and nibbles, I’m looking at a program! Like this is a graduation or a kid’s school play.
I love it.
Under a tentative set list, I see this. No attribution (but he told me just now as I write this that yes, he and the others in the band wrote it). But this is why I am here… I’m tearing up again just reading it.
Artist’s Manifesto:
“We do so aim to create a beautiful noise to the best of our ability, an reckoning. We speak our simple truth, without falsehood. Let our words never be amended, censored, or appeased. Our concerns lie not the realm of the material or the monetary, but rather the spiritual and the poetical. For the benefit, not merely the entertainment, of all living creatures, the plants, the air, the soil, the water, and the sky.”
How many of these programs just got wadded up and thrown away that night? That is easily one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen … did anyone else even read it?
Showtime:
There’s Landon [Pigg]. If you’ve seen Jesse at all recently, you’ve seen Landon. I tried to research when the relationship began and the answer seems to be the end of last year (2022). For lack of more information, I’m going to create a scenario from the one bit I did manage to find about the relationship being borne of an appreciation of “red wine and music”… or something like that. Something half childhood playground interaction where it really was as easy as just asking, “Wanna be friends?” and the scene in Stepbrothers, “Did we just become… BEST. FRIENDS?”
Landon is all button-down shirt earnest. I love the quote in the program, “Landon is a young man on a soul quest. In a word, he is ‘nimble.’ His upper range engages birds and the more tuneful of dogs. Down, Scruffy, down girl!” A playful jab at the attractive nature of the earnest boy charming the birds down from the trees. His voice is beautiful. His songs are sweet and wistful. Though he seems to spend his time with Jesse on the percussive side (shaker, maracas, tambourine, bongos), he seems an adept multi-instrumentalist in his own right, moving comfortably between keys and guitar.
At some point, it starts to rain. It doesn’t even sound real at first. It sounds like rain sticks I used to see (don’t touch!) at the mall when I was a kid.
Beautiful.
I return to a lyric for what I’m sure won’t be the last time. From Occasionally Joy, “My wardrobe can’t make up its mind…” I’ve already amended my list of Jesse’s outfit personas once. I’m thrown a new one tonight. Jeans, white tank, and… Castiel help us… a trench coat. Tonight he looks like The Highlander (“there can be ONLY ONE!”) and I am living for it.
Just like my time spent Salim last weekend, Jesse with a band is a completely new experience from his quiet, unassuming performances spied thus far. I had a basic idea from videos watched online. It was completely different seeing it live.
Jesse is a man possessed. The demon-spirit is music. The Rock. I verify in my photos later – he’s not even aware at times. He is transported. Slave and master. Dominance and submission. Complete thrall to the sounds he wrestles from his guitar. He throws himself to the ground. “Haven’t the monkeys…” Writhes. “Done such…” Submits to the music while his guitar submits to him. “Lovely job…”
What we got:
Power of Us, The Future’s Been Canceled, The Last Time I Saw Nancy Claire (She Wasn’t Really There), Haven’t the Monkeys Done Such a Lovely Job, Feed Her to the Snake, Ads You Can Really Taste, I’m So Happy (I Think I Might Cry)*, Biting off The Hand that Feeds, Drop Dead and Die*, The Dream Where You Can’t Wake Up*, Everybody’s Got Somebody (Nobody’s Got Me)*, Backyard Party MDA*
(*from Violensia)
MDA was a delightful finale as everyone got up – lead by Landon who boasts some wicked rug cutting capability – and started dancing. It was fun to watch. Happiness like that is catching. A high note to end on for sure.
(READ HERE IF YOU SKIPPED PERSONAL NARRATIVE TO GET TO THE ALBUM STUFF)
Here is your Violensia sound bite:
“This album is SO GOOD it made me FLIP TABLES at my local mall food court. Buy it NOW!” — Someone With a Valuable Opinion (me, it’s me, I have a valuable opinion)
Back to my POV:
The show was amazing. We ended up rocking out next to a kind, older gentleman who was later revealed to be the Pigg Patriarch (or Father Pigg as he is now in my phone). He was delighted to meet us and hear of our long trek to see Jesse and his sons (Gabe, the drummer, belongs to Clan Pigg too). He even asked me what the draw was. It’s taken me time to realize why some of his music is so comfortable, so familiar to me.
Jesse said of the Violensia songs, “They are just so weird and dramatic and operatic…”
I showed Papa Pigg the tattoo that takes up a good portion of my right shin. Another young man with sculpted cheekbones and a flare for the “weird and dramatic and operatic.” Dad gets it. He says he already thought that with Jesse’s choice of white tank top tonight.
There can be only one…
Landon talks to us for a bit. He talks again about the stickers I gifted him with when I saw them in May. They were AI generated and then manipulated in Procreate. One is a guinea pig in front of a foamy cappuccino and the other is an anthropomorphized guinea pig playing a guitar. I was mildly terrified giving them to him. Afraid perhaps, like me, his name got him bullied in school, but no, he seemed delighted. Neither he nor Jesse seem to have much merch (I do stickers for Salim as a freebie at his merch table “Do you have room in your life for stickers?” He will ask people while they browse his offerings). Landon agrees they don’t have much merch usually, but he then tells me that his Mom has framed the stickers (I don’t know if I got this right, but I immediately see them placed over a mantle piece, something Mother Pigg has given pride of place to, she gazes fondly at them when she thinks of her boy, the singer… And oh YES in this imagining they are a family of Pixar animated guinea pigs ready to star in “Sing 3.” Please don’t begrudge me my happy mind movies.)
I pause… I think for a minute… trying to write this.
I don’t know what I am trying to express to you, the collective you.
I know there are people out there who feel like I do. People who don’t have a drug yet to keep them going. I’m just trying to show you mine. There’s a scene in the 1990 “It” where the little kid with asthma has it revealed to him that his medicine is just water. “If you need it, ” his friends tell him, “It’s good medicine.”
I’ll never write something that will single handedly drive up anyone’s album sales (but per the above Manifesto, it’s not even about that… this makes me feel better.) I’m just trying to show you out there in the darkness with me that there are lights, there are drugs – whatever they mean to you – there are things to keep going for.
There is beauty.
My favorite song from Violensia is “Dream Where You Can’t Wake up” (complete aside: I’m either psychic or the Gods of People Afraid to Fly unlocked Violensia for me months ago so I could listen to it on a flight recently while trying not think about crashing .. when I could finally listen to it officially, I knew EXACTLY how this entire song went):
“Tomorrow’s gonna come, the sun is gonna shine, shine on everyone…tomorrow’s gonna come blue skies are gonna hang far above everyone…”
And now I’m really dating myself. Just like Curly said in “City Slickers,” the answer is one thing.. ONE… but you have to figure out what that one thing is.
For me, it’s the hope I hear in these songs, Salim, Jesse, YOU out there making music because it’s what your soul needs to survive.
I’m not alone. There is something beautiful to look for. And when the darkness starts to creep back in, I will search for my next “hit” and the artists in the above manifesto will be out there ready to provide.
“To every broken heart that came before… I’m gonna be just fine…”
TLDR:
Jesse Daniel Edwards is an amazing artist. His new album is called “Violensia.” YOU WANT IT. It’s on Spotify, but vote with your dollars: HERE.

For the best results a combination of pressurised water and unique chemical treatments are required. Using just water can leave behind living mould, mildew and spores which will quickly re-infest the area.

High pressure cleaning involves the use of pressurised water to remove grime, dirt, loose paint, mould and mildew. It’s a great way to restore your outdoor areas and get them back into prime condition. It’s important to use the right technique so you don’t damage the surface of your patio, deck or driveway. You should also ensure that you spray along the grain of wood surfaces to decrease the risk of splinters. It is recommended that you hire a professional who has experience in cleaning these types of surfaces. They’ll know what type of cleaners to use and how to handle the pressure washer safely.
If your pool surrounds are looking a little shabby then it’s time for a high pressure clean. A professional will use a special biodegradable detergent to loosen the bond between your hard surface and mould, mildew, moss etc.
Once the area is soaked with detergent it’s ready to be rinsed off by your pressure washer. Before you start rinsing make sure that any outdoor furniture is moved and electrical items like the pump motor and heater are covered to avoid damage from overspray.
Work carefully, focusing on the walls of the pool and transitioning to the deck once those areas are clean. Try to use a turbo nozzle on your washer to strip away stubborn stains faster and without damaging the surfaces.
Pavers, if maintained well, can last a long time and improve the overall aesthetic of a home. However, regular cleaning is required to remove unsightly stains and prevent dirt build up in the joints. While a garden hose may suffice to clean the surface of pavers, a professional pressure cleaner with a dirt cutter attachment is better suited to free weeds from joints and indentations.
Special paver and patio cleaner concentrates are also available to remove oil stains and slippery moss. These chemicals are biodegradable and safer than home remedies. They also have a rinsing nozzle to minimize the risk of water runoff.
Natural stone surfaces require special care and cleaning. Stains on natural stone can be removed by identifying the type of stain, and using the appropriate chemicals and poultice materials to remove the contaminant. Natural stone can then be protected with a high quality penetrating sealer.
Sealing your stone surfaces will help to prevent stains from occurring, especially on porous stones such as sandstone, limestone and slate. These stone types are absorbent and have unique mineral chemistry that can react with various cleaners. Sealing your stone will diminish this reaction and keep it looking fresher for longer. It’s important to use the correct chemical when cleaning these stone surfaces as too much pressure can damage them. To know more about High Pressure Cleaning Near Me, visit the Roche Cleaning Solutions website or call 0415615170.
Roche Cleaning Solutions can help you with the removal of mildew, moss and algae from your home exterior surfaces including roof, guttering, sidings, decks and driveways. We use high-quality equipment and professional cleaners to achieve great results without damaging your home’s surfaces. Our three step process ensures a deep clean for your surfaces. First, we apply a biodegradable solution that loosens the bond between the hard surface and mould, mildew and moss. Next, we manually scrub the surfaces, agitating and lifting the solution into the pores of the surface. Finally, we pressure clean the surfaces, ensuring they are thoroughly cleaned. This removes all living spores and allows the surface to stay cleaner for longer.

Afterward, grab a brush and paint the paste to key hotspot areas such as box springs, drawer joints, and wall ceiling junctions. Another baking soda method is to mix it with water to create a paste. So, if you don't want to use chemical pesticides, you can sprinkle baking soda on bed bug hotspots where they lay eggs. After a few days, you are supposed to vacuum the powder up and repeat the process from the very beginning.
Once you spot the bed bug infestation in your home, you need to take a box of baking soda and sprinkle the powder around the key hotspot areas that these pests typically tend to inhabit (for instance, mattresses or the area around your bed).
Once you’ve finished the top of your mattress, flip it upside-down and clean the other side. Flip the mattress over and repeat the process. a little closer; fallout: new vegas; veronica x christine
my (late) submission to the Fallout Bang event, hosted by @chaosintheavenue. can’t wait to see my partner @commonwealthcommoner‘s matching art! <3
---
Christine.
A woman who stepped out of her dreams. Looking the same as she imagined her: short and sturdy and smiling. Nearly a decade had come to pass but Veronica would never, ever forget her face. She wanted to reach out, run to her, but she couldn’t. The ghost people watched her like she was their mother, a revered goddess, a holy sight amongst the vermin of the city. And Veronica was no better.
How long had she spent imagining what their reunion would look like? She had such a strong picture in her head, only made clearer by the courier’s tales of the Sierre Madre and the miles she walked to get there. Needless to say, the ghost people were not in the picture and neither were the clouds of gas clinging to the walls of a city that never was.
Veronica could feel the tension in her body, in the way her hands gripped the window sill she knelt next to, peeking out to see her. It took her hours to get to this moment, wandering the narrow streets, looking for the fountain that the courier said would lead her to the Sierra Madre, to where Christine now resided. She had never said anything about this. She never said that Christine could walk among the ghost people undeterred. A feat that she had learned was awe-inspiring and unattainable, a thing only taught by experience alone. It was something she learned the hard way as she cowered behind walls and furniture, waiting for the uneven gait of rubber soles to pass her by, because she knew if they found her, she might not make it. That was one thing the courier made clear, the ghost people were hurt by slicing, not by punching.
She was keenly aware of the sweat pooling around her neck and joints as she came to terms with what she had to do. The farther Christine walked down the road, the more Veronica could feel her opportunity slipping away. She would not make the same mistake she did years ago, she would not let Christine walk out of her life, not when she could do something about it. Even if it meant doing something she was scared to do. Was that not love? Doing whatever it takes to be by their side?
Do it for her. Do it for you. Words of power to send her forward.
A release of adrenaline flooded through her body as she pushed herself up and leaned out the window, an angel’s name on her tongue. “Christine!” She pulled back her scribe hood, wanting her to see all of her, to help the other woman remember. “Christine!”
It happened so slowly, like sand falling through an hourglass. Christine turned, grabbing her rifle out of habit, her gaze immediately picking up where her voice carried from. The ghost people nearby also turned their frightening gaze towards her, already scrambling towards the building she was in.
“Ronnie?” It was barely loud enough to echo down the street and into Veronica’s ear, a croaky haziness to her voice that she didn’t remember. “Ronnie!” This time louder, with an urgency that displayed plainly on her face.
“I could use a little help!” Relief swept through Veronica as she watched Christine sprint towards the door of the two-story building she was in, ripping it open before the ghost people could get a chance. They remained where they stood, unsure of what they should do when their hologram goddess came to the aid of an outsider.
Veronica could follow the clomping of her boots as she sprinted up the stairs, rounding the corner of the hallway, and there she was. Christine. A little older than she remembered, an interesting set of scars lined her face now that definitely weren’t there before, but she was still the girl she grew up with in the bunker and the woman she let walk away.
Veronica never felt anything like this before. Such an intense feeling of relief, at finding Christine alive and hoping that maybe they could start again mixed with doubt and fear that she was wrong, that they were different people now, and staying separated would be for the best. The emotions stayed there at the back of her throat, wanting to be released, to cry and smile and ask Christine so many questions but she settled on pulling her into a hug instead. She felt her flinch at the contact and Veronica tried to pull away to remedy the situation but Christine held her there after a moment, her chin on her shoulder, her cheek pressed to her cheek.
“What are you doing here?” she asked finally, pulling away to look at Veronica again, her eyes sweeping up and down, looking for signs of injury.
Veronica felt her cheeks hear, suddenly feeling embarrassed. “I’m here to see you.” It didn’t feel like the grandiose expression of love she had been imagining on the long journey here, but she was getting used to the fact that the world didn’t quite work the way her mind painted it. “But here specifically? I’m hiding from the ghost people. They aren’t really as friendly as the brochures made them out to be.”
Christine smiled and shook her head, “No, they’re not.” She took one last long look at Veronica before turning and beckoning her towards the stairs. “The ghost people won’t bother you if I’m with you. I’ll take us somewhere safe.”
---
"This is home, huh?"
"I wouldn't call it home. But it's not a prison either."
Christine lay tentatively next to her on the giant bed, surrounded by a giant room, inside a giant hotel. The Sierra Madre. Veronica felt smaller than she ever had, suddenly unsure of her place next to Christine. Why was she here? Did she come here expecting to rescue Christine from a solitary life amongst a forgotten era? Did she come here expecting Christine to return to the Mojave with her?
She swallowed her questions. It didn’t matter. She was with Christine now and whatever happened, happened. After all they’d been through, after what Christine had told her on the way back to the Sierra Madre, they were lucky to be here, they were lucky to be reunited.
“So no one bothers you here?” she continued, pushing her anxious thoughts away.
“I make sure no one bothers this place. After following Elijah here, there’s too much at stake to leave it unprotected.” Christine turned her head to look at her, the scars lining her face crinkled in concern. “You look tired. You can rest and we can talk more later.”
Veronica nodded, her arm sliding across the gap between them to squeeze the other woman’s hand. “Okay.”
So Veronica closed her eyes, feeling the softness of the bed beneath her and the warmth of Christine's hand in hers. Fear and vigilance had exhausted her. But it was the minute and tenuous feeling of safety that helped her to fall into sleep.
---
She awoke to darkness. It shouldn't have scared her like it did but maybe being topside for so long scarred her, changed her, altered her. She stayed still for as long as she could possibly manage, slowly watching the pieces of furniture come into view, the slight glow from the windows illuminating what little they could, leaving Veronica to invent the rest.
Breathe in, breathe out. Breathe in, breathe out. Something Arcade had taught her when the world would start closing in on her. Things were always a little harder after HELIOS One.
Slowly her heartbeat settled, her jaw still clamped shut but she could feel the tension and start to let it go. Breathe in, breathe out. One problem at a time.
She was with Christine. That she could definitely recall in all its vivid detail. She brought her here, so confident and sure. "Sit down, Ronnie." "Drink some water, Ronnie." "You can rest now, Ronnie." Ronnie. So she did as she was told. Veronica sat, she sipped, and she dozed until she fell into a deep abyss of sleep.
But now she was awake and alone and when her blood stopped rushing through her ears, she could hear the faint sound of music.
"Christine?" Her voice was so petite against the darkness.
No answer.
Nothing moved her body and soul like Christine did, her desire to find her again was overwhelming. She couldn't be far, this was her room, her things, her life.
So she crawled out of the bed and tiptoed into the living room area. The double doors were ajar, the windows were filled with a midnight sky, occasionally pierced with an unending spotlight, bathing the room in a soft glow for only a moment but it was all Veronica needed to see the letter sitting atop a black dress with red accents.
She couldn't remember ever seeing something so pretty before. So feminine. So perfect for her, it made her giddy. She picked it up and held it close to her figure, watching how it fell, wondering if it would fit. Wondering if Christine would think she was pretty too, as pretty as this dress.
She turned her attention to the later, maybe it would help her find Christine in this labyrinth of a building. She unfolded the paper revealing the insignia of the Sierra Madre declared boldly at the top and beneath it was Christine's pointed handwriting: meet me in the lobby. follow the music to the elevators, ground floor. wear the dress.
---
Veronica wasn't particularly fond of elevators and this one was no exception. It felt like years passed as she waited for floors to pass her by to reach the cold, hard ground. It gave her too much time to think, to look down at herself in the extravagant black dress, to smooth it out and wonder if she looked okay, to run her hand through her hair in an attempt to keep it set in some sort of style. Her feet felt pinched in the matching black heels, different from the kitten heels from a bygone era she had tried on before. But god damn if she didn't feel like a princess.
And as she shifted her weight from foot to foot, the elevator dinged to signal her arrival. She stepped out, her attire giving her the power and confidence she needed, ready to meet Christine, ready to behold her in her vision, and be with her.
Christine was there ready and waiting at the bottom of the lobby staircase, wearing a set of crisp pants and a white buttoned shirt, a shy smile on her face. "Ronnie, you're awake."
"Am I?" She laughed, butterflies filling her stomach as she watched the other woman walk up the steps to approach her, her hand outstretched. "This is too good to be true."
"Don't we deserve a little fun?" Christine's eyes sparkled, taking Veronica's hand and gently leading her down the steps.
She was overwhelmed, constantly torn between watching her wobbly feet as she descended the stairs or watching Christine and memorizing her eyes, her mouth, her nose, her skin because it had been so long and they were both so different now, but this still felt like coming home. "Oh, we deserve it."
“You look beautiful, Ronnie.”
It had been so long since someone had said that to her. People called her pretty and cute all the time, but it was different coming from someone she had loved and maybe, probably still loved. Veronica couldn’t help but let out a giggle, a big smile still plastered to her face. “Thanks. You’re not too bad-looking yourself.” Before she knew it, they were standing close together at the bottom of the staircase, Christine still had her hand tucked neatly into hers, fitting into each other like puzzle pieces.
“You better tell your girlfriend to watch out,” Veronica continued, pulling the other woman with her toward the open floor. “Because I’ve still got eyes for you.” She turned and moved her free hand to Christine’s waist, pulling her close.
“Vera?” Christine rolled her eyes but played along anyway, a fondness to her tone. “She’s just my roommate. I’m all yours.”
She missed this. The talking, the teasing, the flirting, how easy it was to just be herself with Christine. Perhaps this wasn’t the reunion she imagined, but the real thing was better than anything she could dream up. But there was still one thing left that she wanted to do. “Can we dance now?”
“Of course.” Christine smiled, as if it was a silly question. “All of this was so we could dance.”

Mold in Apartment? Your Symptoms Could be from Exposure to Mold
Mold In Apartment
Moving day in West LA. My last day in an apartment I had called home for over three years. I had everything packed, cleaned, and ready to go!
Just one more thing I needed to do before leaving: A walk-through of the apartment with the landlord.
He started the inspection and everything was looking great. I was about to get my whole security deposit back! He stopped in the hallway though. He opened up a closet (I rarely ever opened) that stored the water-heater. Water was leaking out of the heater, causing rust. The paint on the wall was ‘puffed up’, usually an indicator of mold growing underneath.
On my last day in that apartment, I discovered a serious mold issue. For most of my time there, I had been living with mold.
The landlord was gracious and did not knock anything off my security deposit. The leak in the water-heater was small. He said he was renovating the unit anyway.
This was not the first time I had found mold in that apartment though. Walls, ceilings, clothing stored away long-term, all had mold at one time.
This may explain some of the health conditions and symptoms I experienced during my time in that apartment. My exposure to mold in apartments has been a wake-up call. I have learned so much and want to share with you ways to address this problem.
Mold in apartment units is common in areas of the United States with high humidity or rain. The US South and Pacific Northwest experience mold problems on a regular basis. Many older apartment buildings were built in a way and with materials that make them susceptible to mold.
The apartment I was living at in West LA is made mostly of concrete and was built in the 1950s. The back corners of the two-bedroom apartment received very little sunshine and airflow. The stagnant air and coastal moisture of West Los Angeles allowed preferable conditions for mold and mildew growth.
If there is mold growing in your apartment this means there is excess moisture. Mold and mildew need a damp environment to grow. You need to be aware of every corner of your living space. Even hard-to-reach and out-of-sight nooks and crannies. These areas are where mold generally grows best. Dark and moist, with minimal airflow.
Mold and other microbes common in apartment buildings can have adverse effects on your health. Mild to severe symptoms can appear from mold exposure. These health effects are largely reactions to toxins the mold or bacteria create as a biological function. Microbes make these toxins for their protection, but we humans can be greatly irritated by their presence.
Mold In Apartment Symptoms
The symptoms of mold in an apartment are varied and many. Many of these symptoms may be caused by other environmental factors - pollution, seasonal allergies, and stress.
Many people discover their mold allergy by eliminating other causes of symptoms. Upon ruling out any other cause for their symptoms, one can determine if they may be from exposure to mold in an apartment.
Many people who experience mold in their apartment report these symptoms:
Chronic sinus congestion. Coughing. Shortness of breath.
Skin irritation. From itching to rash.
Fatigue. Weakness. Drowsiness. Low energy.
Muscle aches. Cramps. Unusual shooting pains.
Cognitive impairment. Confusion. Memory loss. ’Brain fog’. Trouble concentration and speech.
Strong Headaches. Often confused with a migraine.
Sensitivity to bright light. Tearing and watery eyes. Blurred vision. Redness in and around eyes.
Abdominal pain, sensitive stomach, diarrhea.
Joint pain. Stiffness.
Mood swings. Appetite swings. Sweats, often at night. Temperature regulation.
Numbness. Body tingling,
Excessive thirst. Frequent urination. Sensitivity to static.
In my experience, at the apartment in West LA, I had the following symptoms:
Trouble concentrating and staying focused on tasks.
Fatigue and drowsiness.
Shooting pains in legs or arms.
Mold, mildew, and bacteria can cause illness on their own, but many also contain toxic chemicals. These biological chemicals they make naturally can have adverse side effects on human health. Not only to our body but our minds.
These are the various types of toxins mold and mildew may contain:
Mycotoxins. Toxins produced by fungi and mold. Allergic reactions, trouble breathing, drowsiness are caused by mycotoxins.
Neurotoxins. Toxins that have an effect on mental function. Confusion, headaches, hallucinations have been some of the symptoms reported from neurotoxins.
Biotoxins. A general term for any toxin created by biological organisms.
‘Microtoxins’. A new term I see more and more. Refers to any microbe toxin created by microscopic or ‘invisible’ organisms.
Areas to Check for Mold in Apartments
Mold can appear anywhere in an apartment. Many molds and mildews can be detected by the classic ‘musty smell’ from old homes or by thorough cleaning to uncover mold problem areas.
The main areas of concern for mold in apartments are as follows:
Windows. Especially during rain or high humidity. Condensation is perfect for mold and mildew growth. Keep windows and window sills clean and dry.
Sinks and drawers. Particularly below and under sinks and drawers. Areas of moisture, low airflow, and low light are suitable for molds.
Closets and storage. Dark and minimal airflow make closets a comfortable spot for mold and mildew. Clothing fibers are a food source and a good substrate for growth.
Bathrooms. Due to the presence of water, showers, tiles, grout lines, and curtains are perfect homes for mold. Ceilings of bathrooms tend to grow mold from excess moisture as well.
Leaking Ceiling in Apartment. In lower and ground floor apartment units, water leaking from the ceiling can be an opportunity for mold to thrive. Keep an eye out for excess moisture, discoloration, staining, and ‘puffiness’ that indicates mold growth.
The type of mold you find in your home will determine the severity of health concerns. For example, black mold is well-known for being poisonous and should be addressed with urgency. Others may just give off unpleasant odors or create unsightly stains.
There are countless types of mold. You need to know about the major types of mold in homes. These are the most common types of mold in apartment units:
Stachybotrys ‘Black Mold’
Aspergillus
Chaetomium
Penicillin
Cladosporium
Acremonium
Fusarium
Trichoderma
Ulocladium
To accurately identify mold in your apartment or home, a professional inspection is the best way to know. I am no biologist or doctor, so my advice is just that: advice. Please contact a local specialist to get the best counsel for your situation.
Tenants Rights / Landlord Responsibility for Mold in Apartment
There are laws, at least here in California, that protect tenants from mold in apartments. In California, landlords must follow an ‘implied warranty of habitability. This requires them to provide livable conditions to tenants. California also has a mold disclosure requirement landlords need to follow if their units meet unsafe levels. When deemed uninhabitable due to an outstanding mold problem, tenants may take several courses of action.
Withhold Rent Payments. By claiming the apartment unit is uninhabitable due to mold, tenants in California may be protected from legal actions by landlords for refusing to pay rent.
Repair and Deduct from Rent. Repairing the conditions yourself and taking the expenses of the repairs out of your rent.
If you choose to pursue any of these actions to address a mold issue, I recommend you seek legal counsel beforehand. Laws vary state by state, even city by city.
Mold in your apartment? You need to take action
If you have found mold in your apartment, do not panic. There are steps you can take to protect yourself. Ultimately, you have a few options to address the issue of mold in your apartment.
Know Your Rights. You will save a lot of time and headache knowing what you are responsible for and what your landlord needs to do to address mold in an apartment.
Seek Professional Help. For inspection, cleaning, and remediation, an expert is hands down the best way to address any mold issue. For legal advice and handling landlords, a lawyer is the option to navigate the legal issues. Professional experts will be able to help you make the best decision for your situation.
Do-It-Yourself. Do what you can to clean and prevent mold in your apartment. Preventing mold before it appears will save you a lot of time, work, and money. Communication and talking to your landlord about the issue are essential, even if your landlord does not help solve the issue. But chances are they will help address the issue. So let them know as soon as you know.
Move Out. Find another home without mold. This is not always the easiest option. But when a mold issue is too large to address or a landlord is refusing to help, moving may be the quickest solution to the problem.
As I have moved out of that apartment, I have noticed a change in my symptoms. I do have less brain fog and I feel more clearheaded day to day. I now live in an area with more fresh air and natural light.
I have gained a newfound awareness of mold and mycotoxins. For any apartment I live in or home I buy, I will always keep my eyes peeled for mold problems. If you find an apartment that has mold issues, assess whether it is worth the cost on your health and well-being.
For some parts of the US, mold is inevitable. This does not mean you should ignore the problem and take measures to mitigate and prevent mold.
Hope this was informative and helpful. Please contact me for more info. I’m happy to share any local resources I have accumulated and educational resources to learn about mold and microbes.
Thank you!

Why You Need a Stucco Contractor For An Effective Finish
When they are trying to decorate their homes with stucco or other siding projects, many homeowners often overlook the importance of hiring a qualified and dependable stucco contractor. Some might think that a novice easily accomplishes the job of painting or staining. This might be true in some cases, but the process required to get the final product is not straightforward in most cases. The result is a damaged surface with uneven color. Such damage can occur if the finishing compound used is not of good quality or wrong ingredients are used in mixing the stucco.
A Stucco contractor should be consulted when there is a problem with the drywall or plastering of interior walls. Drywall problems can occur when there are cracks in the drywall, the wall is uneven in shape, the joint between the drywall and the plastering is rotten, or the wall has been completely gutted. A skilled contractor can check whether all these conditions are present in the house before proceeding with the repair. If any of these are the case, they will suggest remedial action.
Stucco Contractor Las Vegas have different approaches to different jobs. Some specialize in only wall finishing, while others work on complete structures such as facades, porches, and exterior doors. Therefore, it is essential to hire a contractor with the right expertise and who is experienced in finishing houses. The contractor should know about various stucco products such as joint compounds and be familiar with different paint techniques. The contractor should also be familiar with the various types of finishes available for the exterior surfaces.
Stucco is a mixture of Portland cement and sand. It is used as a building material that can prevent water from entering the interiors of homes. While stucco has many positive effects, it can also cause damage if not installed correctly and maintained properly. If water penetrates the surface, it may cause damage to the structure of the house. Moreover, excessive moisture can also cause structural damage to home improvement.
The main reason why stucco contractors are necessary is that many people use stucco in their houses. It is seen on walls, ceilings, doors, and windows. However, it is not advisable to use it for other purposes as it might cause harm to the structure and health of the people residing inside the house. It is recommended to get a new siding done once in a while. Many homeowners prefer to use vinyl tiles on the walls and roofs.
A stucco contractor is important because they provide quality services at reasonable rates. For example, getting a licensed and insured stucco repair contractor is essential to avoid damage or injury to you and your property. You can look for licensed and insured contractors online. Once you have their contact number, you can call them, and they will respond to you within 24 hours. Besides providing quality service, licensed and insured contractors also offer a guaranteed finish on stucco installation.
There are different types of stucco materials that you can choose from. In addition to wood, there are also ceramic tiles, ceramic blocks, and natural stones. Each one has its properties, so you should know the specific requirements of the job you want to have done before buying the materials. For example, wood is more suitable to be used for exterior walls. However, you can also use stone and clay for interior stucco installation. Although it costs more initially, it will last for a long time because wood is a natural product, whereas ny cement is artificial and will quickly degrade.
Moreover, it is best to consult a professional stucco expert before you start the stucco installation work. Although you can purchase any cement from hardware stores, you should ask the experts about the stucco materials that are suitable for your home. A reputable stucco expert can help you get the perfect finish for your home exterior walls without compromising on the price.

        Life was a bitch to everyone, and ever since you flunked out of Business School, it’s proven you weren’t the exception. It was an already supersaturated field with bright minded, innovative entrepreneurs. And you? Realized halfway through that the business world wasn’t cut out for you. With an overwhelmingly expensive college debt for an unfinished degree that your parents refused to pay for, you became the official family disappointment. After two years of being done with their bullshit, you finally packed your stuff and moved as far away as possible, hoping to start anew in the small town of rural Yangpiji.
        Just because you had some level of education, didn’t mean it would get you quite far. It’s done the opposite, in fact. Jobs with higher wages frowned upon your incomplete studies, and jobs that didn’t give a fuck if you finished high school, didn’t pay enough to deal with their idiocies or take care of the bills for that matter. One heated argument with the owner of the last food joint you worked at was the final straw. Throwing your dirty apron at his face, you walked out of there without a single care in the world, and for the moment, you felt powerful. At least until you waltzed into Slack Jack’s and sat at the bar that night, head buried into your palms.
“Rough shift?” Your eyes peered from behind your fingers, focusing on a shot being placed in front of you. And boy, were you thankful for it. Without speaking, you threw that shit back and let it burn your throat, the only consolation for the situation you were in. “I’ll take that as a yes.”
“Jackson, I quit.” Feigned shock played on the bartender’s face as he cleaned a beer mug. You weren’t the only one who searched for new beginnings in Yangpiji. In front of you was Jackson Wang, owner and proprietor of Slack Jack’s. He had moved there from abroad no more than ten years ago in hopes to reinvent himself, and against all odds did. He had been your close friend for the past three years since moving. Quite frankly the only good thing this area had to offer was Jackson and his cheap drinks that get you hammered quick.
“Really? I wouldn’t have thought!” His hand shot up to cover his mouth, chuckling at your bland reaction. Rolling your eyes so far into your skull, a heavy sigh escaped from within.
“I’m serious. I quit. I quit work, I quit life, I quit Yangpiji- I’m tired… I hate that I’m a jobless 28-year-old drunk, with nothing to offer this world besides how to survive on garlic noodles and rum.” Your hands traveled the air around you as you searched for words, “I can’t even afford to make them Jjajang Noodles, Jack. JJAJANG!” A small shriek spewed out as you downed another shot, you stopped counting after the third one. Dread and sorrow pooled around you in a matter of seconds. You were at your wits end. And you couldn’t say you were past your peak, since frankly you never took off the ground to begin with. “I’m a failure, Jackson.”
        Widened eyes traveled the room trying to find any words of consolation, but the bartender couldn’t find anything other than pity. His hands moved quickly, putting away the bottles before he was tempted to offer you anymore. He usually served you on the house because he knew of your struggles, but you also drank your weight in alcohol, and he didn’t want to go broke any time soon.
“Listen, chief. There’s still an option…” Oh no… You didn’t want to hear it; already knowing what was coming. “The Bang-Lenzo Yangpiji Branch is still hiring for a secretary; you should test it out.”
        Ah, yes. Bang-Lenzo Inc. Somehow a successful company in the dying paper industry. One of the first to drop their deforestation contracts for their supplies and switch entirely to recycled paper. Since most companies didn’t believe in the Save The Trees movement, most of their major clients dropped them and signed contracts with Bang-Lenzo instead. Working for them would be an achievement… If only the branch in your city wasn’t a nut house.
“Jackson…” Elongating the last syllable, you groaned. “I’ve heard horror stories of people that have tried to work there, it’s chaos. No one ever lasts a full week…” The idea of even bothering to work there was dreadful. The workers there were a nightmare, so you’ve heard. But their manager? A complete lunatic. Unprofessional, immature, inappropriate, and other negative connotations have been used to describe the young manager, Jeon Jungkook. Rumor had it he was the top salesman for 4 years straight before the old manager died. When the company crunched the numbers and stats, he was technically the most qualified for the manager position and had managed to keep it for the past 5 years.
        Amidst your internal struggle, Jackson raised an eyebrow and cut you straight. “It pays $15 an hour, plus benefits.” On instinct your hand shot up, doing quick maths in the air. Holy cow. You shifted your attention to Jackson so fast you almost snapped your neck.
“That’s almost $30k a year!”
“More than you’ll ever make busing tables, that’s for sure.” He had a point. And, you were desperate. Maybe not so much at first, but $15 is $15 and if it meant sacrificing your sanity for survival, well damn it, you were down for the count.
“Guess I’m speaking to Jeon…”
Tumblr media
        On Jackson’s commands and with a set of instructions, you left the bar early. ‘Prep for tomorrow, rest and sober up.’ Three things that you were never quite well doing at the very last minute. Bits and pieces of information were fed to you, in order to try and snatch the job at its core.
‘From what I’ve heard, he likes to go in on Saturday mornings to catch up on some work.’ All that meant was that you had to wake up early, and your suspected hangover did not like that. You did what any ‘sane’ person would do and popped in a pain killer and a nausea reliever, an old family remedy to wake up fresh and ready.
‘At the breakfast buffet two blocks over, I once saw him obliterate the cheddar biscuits… And I think he has a thing for sausages too.’ Really, it seemed like Jackson knew Jungkook too well, but honestly so did the town through word of mouth. That last bit of information is what made you scour the nearest convenience store for the necessary ingredients to make the piece of resistance, the key to securing your assets. With this bread you were going to get your bread.
---
        Morning came quickly, as you had gone to bed late baking and sorting out your clothes for the day. Sporting one of your finer ensembles just to make a statement, you were ready to take life by the throat. A dark gray, tight pencil skirt above the knee, a light beige button up blouse with pearled buttons, and a blazer to match the skirt. You applied a fair amount of neutral colored makeup in order to rejuvenate your features to not look like you’ve been miserable for the past 10 years. You finished off the look by slipping on some classic, black Mary Jane’s.
        For the first time since inheriting this 1999 Verna, you were glad the aircon was a hunk of junk and only blew hot steam. Of course you drove with the windows down to receive actual fresh air, but you angled the conductors towards the biscuits, keeping them toasty and warm as if freshly baked that morning. Jeon Jungkook would be in the palm of your hands and the job would soon be in your possession. Financial stability: here I come.
        Parked outside of the building, you painted on a mask with all of the false confidence and determination you could muster, before any ounce of regret could slip in. Once the clock hit 8:55am, it was time to go. You grabbed the biscuits, which you had ever so ‘lovingly’ placed in a basket upping the charm factor, and headed for the entrance.
I need money. I need money. I need money. It was the mantra of your choosing as you took the unnervingly long elevator ride up to the Bang-Lenzo office where your unannounced meeting with Jeon Jungkook awaited. Yes, unannounced. Obviously to anyone with common sense of time, 9:00pm wasn't a viable hour to schedule a meeting for the next morning, so you decided to take the determined approach and show up like you already owned the place. For the first time you had a goal and were dead set on obtaining it. Nothing would stop you from getting that income. I need money.
‘Bang-Lenzo INC.’ read the door sign in front of you. For a moment you closed your eyes, fighting off the urge to walk back to your car and forget this place. But your mantra was quick to erase such thoughts. I desperately need money. Overpowered with feigned confidence, you strutted into the main office. Immediately you were faced with your soon to be desk. It was large and crescent shaped, spacious and tall. In a room to your right, you heard a muffled voice. Surely that was Jeon’s office. With a huff of air, you went to knock on his door.
“Huh? C-come in?” Faint and hurried clattering was heard from inside. With suspicion, you went for the door, revealing behind it the manager, and possible future boss: Jeon Jungkook. Sporting nothing but a set of gray sweats, disheveled hair, and a headset placed around his neck. “Did you need something?”
The scene in front of you made you lose focus for a split second. You had never seen him before, and by personality description you expected many things except him being viciously attractive. And also a gamer, noted by the Overwatch screen on his computer. The thought left you in a split second, you only had one goal and it did not include sleeping with the manager to reach it. You learned that only works once and it’s never rewarding.
“I’m here for the secretary position? I figured since it’s early and unannounced I’d bring in a little something to eat.” A sweet and charmful voice oozed from your throat, foreign to your body unless it was summoned. The confused manager’s doe eyes lit up once they set intensely on the basket making way to his desk. “I hope you enjoy warm biscuits.” Before he could even question what was going on, you were already sitting across from him, placing your intricate resume in front of his grubby self, you were ready to snatch this job from his hands. He had already fallen victim to the biscuits. You could see the revival in his eyes as soon as he took the first bite. Butter and cheese were the key, but  it was the mini weenies hidden inside that sealed the deal.
Jungkook didn't bother to offer it much of a glance. Instead he redirected his attention to you. “Are you good with computers and organizing?” Bread crumbs and cheese lingered on the corner of his lips as he spoke, you could have sworn some spittle came in your direction as well. Upon further inspection, the food stains on his sweats may have started a whole community of bacteria. Any office fantasy of getting railed by a manager quickly died with this individual, and some word of mouth started to make sense.
“Yes. Anything document and spreadsheet related I can handle, not to mention emails, and of course scheduling agendas-“
“And you made these? From scratch?” He held a biscuit in awe, and you couldn’t help but feel success in your future.
“I did.” You offered a soft, shy smile. Another desperate attempt to charm him for the job.
“Do you think you can bring them in on Monday mornings? Starting this Monday? Tell you what, I’ll raise you to $16 an hour if you do.” You choked on your saliva, instantly entering a coughing fit. He really might be off his rocker, but in this economy, who cares? Not you, because for simply baking Sunday nights you get an extra $40 a week. With this bread, you get your bread.
“I certainly can! It would be my pleasure.”  “Great! Then let’s sign the paperwork and make it official.” He rummaged through his files to retrieve the contract. “Gosh, I can’t wait to tell the other managers all about my new beautiful secretary who cares for me, and cooks for me, and, who knows; maybe even have a secret romance with me?” There it was, the inappropriateness everyone talked about. Jungkook didn’t give you time to come out of your confused state. “Ha! I’m kidding! It’s just a joke. We’re professional. Professional. We’ll of course report our relationship to HR.” A noise seemingly from The Grudge escaped you. There was an ungodly uncomfortable silence before he decided to kill the awkwardness of the situation.“KIDDING AGAIN!”
Tumblr media
        You didn’t question the lacking interview, or how Jungkook was quick to hire you. It was the most unethical thing in the world and yet? You didn’t care. You were one step closer to financial stability, and that was all you could ever ask for. With the contract filled out and already added to the payroll, you had officially signed your soul over to the white collar world. Serving as the official secretary of Jeon Jungkook. He truly was an oddball, and somewhat inappropriate, but he didn’t give any indication of being an asshole of a boss. Too friendly and annoying, but you had the gut feeling he might just be a decent enough boss. Or at least not so much of an idiot that you can tolerate working for. Besides, the money’s good.
        Walking out of and looking back at the building, your eyes spotted his office windows, with him behind, cheerfully waving you off as he ate the remains of the biscuits. A subtle reminder, you needed to prep your baking game.
---
       With a more dressed down version of what you wore to the impromptu interview, you drove your car over to the office building. Only this time, pulling up to the parking lot as you were now an employee. Jungkook’s car was already there. A sleek, black Equus. In comparison to its ancestor, your Verna, it exuded upper management presence. He clearly was a successful 27 year old, and you aspired to be able to reach as much coin as he probably had some day. Really, all you ever wanted in life was money. Were you willing to work much for it though? Probably not, but you didn’t have a choice. It was time to get in gear and make up for lost time. 10 years of your life, in fact.
        You stopped thinking about past mistakes before you could let them affect your first day. Taking the biscuits and purse in a hurried manner, you rushed up to the office. Only an hour earlier than the rest, but you still had things to prove, if only to yourself.
        Upon arrival, Jungkook was busy fiddling on your computer. Documents and folders were neatly spread out on a corner of your desk, waiting to be filed and sorted.
“Hey Y/N, You’re early! I hope you don’t mind, I’m setting up your company email so you can quickly get started.” His quick fingers stopped abruptly, for just a moment, his hand reaching for the biscuits. “And thank you for these, I didn’t think you’d actually make them.” He cocked his head in surprise and took a bite before finishing setting up your computer and programs. The comment left you with an odd feeling.
“Of course I would, I promised it.” Truthfully you only agreed because of the pay raise, but you would still hold up with it. No complaints. “Why did you up my pay grade if you didn’t think so?”
“I don’t know, incentive? I figured this would be an easier way to have someone stay for longer than a week at least.” Shaking his head for only a brief second, he continued. “But there’s something about you that tells me you’re going to be the perfect fit here. You have potential, Y/N. That’s why I hired you.” What the fuck was he talking about, ‘Potential’? You were a 28 year old deadbeat, a failure and a degenerate according to your relatives. You had anything but potential. Noting the hesitation to answer, Jungkook changed the subject swiftly.
“And it’s done. I’ll give you a quick rundown of things on the machine and then we can work with organizing my schedule, I am so out of sync with this company and I haven’t a clue when my next meetings are.” With a clap, he stood up and motioned you to the seat. He continued to peruse through the biscuit basket, searching for the ‘cheesiest ones’.
        After a tour throughout the company programs and where supplies and files were around the office, the other workers started to arrive in a timely fashion. Some didn’t bother to give you the time of day, but others decided to greet you as soon as they walked in. Particularly a few of the guys from accounting and sales were quite enthusiastic to greet you. If you remembered correctly, the younger pair of them were from Accounting; Jimin and Taehyung, they were really nice, a bit shy as were you, but very polite and warm. You watched as they sat at their corner and bickered slightly, but it seemed to be in honest fun. The one from sales, Hoseok, was the opposite in terms of shyness. He welcomed you with the most charming of smiles and emphasized that if you ever needed a helping hand around the office to not hesitate to ask him. He cheerfully chatted your ear for a few minutes giving you a small idea of what a day in the office might be. “It’s not that bad once you get used to it, you just need to give us a chance.” You heard his hidden pleas. Many people came and went from this place and their tongues never ceased to express their distaste for it. Even most of your coworkers gave off an air of annoyance with the place. You couldn’t blame them, but basing your experience on first impressions only, it could be worse. Only time will reveal the shithole everyone else claims this place to be.
Tumblr media
        It was 20 minutes past 8:00am and the once empty office was now filled and working. Jungkook came out of his office ever so often, glancing over the the desks, ‘tsk tsk tsk’ is all he ever spoke before going back behind his door. You thought to ignore his manner and focus on organizing his schedule based on the emails he forwarded you. He had plenty of meetings, webinars and conference calls to attend, and they were all scattered around. On your shared calendar, you added the event reminder and description for each and every one for the next month, even going an extra step to add reminders on your own calendar the day before, just to make sure he’s up to date.
        A new email displayed on the screen, an impromptu conference call for Jungkook in 10 minutes labeled ‘URGENT’. You were about to head to his office to notify him, but you remained seated as the entrance door swung abruptly, startling you just enough to make you forget your name and the company you now work for. All you saw was a coat being placed on the rack next to you with an exasperated sigh escaping the core of the individual. Right away, it was clear that if there was anyone in the entire building that hated having to wake up early in the morning just to show up to work in this unfortunate place more than you, it was him. Like the majority of the employees, he looked straight up miserable, even behind dark colored sunglasses. The freshly made venti Iced Americano, the slow paced walk to his desk and his disregard to show up on time were, in your opinion, strong indicators of his likely hatred for his job.
        Settled in his desk, he removed his shades. His narrow, cat-like eyes drew you in like magnets, there was no telling whether or not his iciness was natural, or a ruse to limit his interactions with the rest of the staff. Yet somehow they were still fitting for his rounder, chubbier cheeks. His lips were already pursed downward, but they seemed to curl even further and remain that way almost permanently as Jungkook peered his head out. You tried calling out to him, but your voice was muted by his own exclaims.
“Yoongi!” He shouted, you could say enthusiastically, towards the late addition in the office. He released another sigh, this time accompanied by an eye roll.
“Not now, Jungkook.” His voice was deep and low. Eyes never abandoning his monitor as Jungkook approached him.
        Whatever conversation they were having was nothing but whispers and subtle head shakes. Yoongi was it? Didn’t seem in the mood for whatever chatter the manager kept going on about. You noticed bow everyone in the office was trying to work, but not being able to steal sudden glances from the conversation. Judging by those, especially Hoseok’s since he was sitting right at the situation, you assume they all had an idea as to what was unfolding. You, however, could only assume was an odd scolding in Jungkook’s manner for him showing up late.
        A ringing alert brought your focus back to your own desk, the incoming call you guessed was from Corporate due to the email. Jungkook had previously requested that you warn him first before answering any calls from them, and you remembered what you were ready to do before Yoongi walked in. Not wanting to bring in any attention to yourself you debated quickly which was the best option, calling him over or going straight to him, but you didn’t even answer yourself before your legs started moving on their own.
“Jungkook.” You tapped his shoulder gently, and spoke softly. The young manager startled a bit, and you were unsure if the other man’s expression was relief or annoyance, but you let it go quickly.
“Yes? Oh! That reminds me. Everyone!” What you wanted to avoid was exactly what he gathered: attention.
“This is Y/N, office secretary. I want you all to make her feel welcome, be kind.” He kept going on one of his badly timed speeches until no one paid him any mind.
“Jungkook, you have-”
“Would you both excuse yourselves and talk elsewhere?” The deep voice that spoke seemed to command more authority than Jungkook did.
“Sorry,Y/N. Yoongi’s a bit on edge due to his divorce trial.” The last phrase he tried to utter as a whisper by leaning close to your ear, and although he made it sound like such, it was still loud enough for people to hear.
“Do you really have to tell people about my personal life? Where does it end with you?”
“I felt like I needed to excuse your attitude, she’s part of our family now anyways, she can know.”
        Their bickering picked up again, Jungkook defending the reasoning for his declarations and Yoongi countering with how he always oversteps fine lined boundaries and doesn't have any common sense. Although you very much agreed with what Yoongi was saying that it was an invasion of privacy, you were still caught in the middle of their crossfire and all you wanted to do was inform Jungkook about the god forsaken call.
“JUNGKOOK.” Your raised voice silenced their bickering, and the room came to an onlooking halt. Anxiety started creep behind you due to shouting over your manager on your first day, causing flashbacks of previous outcomes due to this similar situation to roll like a montage in your head, but your patience was running thin.
“What, what is it?” Jungkook, unphased by the situation, cocked his head at you in slight confusion.
“You have a call from Corporate.” You maintained your stern tone, but you were wavering internally. His demeanor took a turn, eyes so wide you feared they would pop out.
“Did you answer?” Whispers gave an undertone of fear. With the phone still ringing in the background, you shook your head.
“Good. Tell them I’m out with a major client. I’m not here.” He hurriedly walked you back to the phone. The glint in his eyes says you should worry, but you swallowed and answered with the same feigned confidence you used for the interview.
“Bang-Lenzo, this is Y/N.”
Tumblr media
        You successfully got rid of the Corporate call in the morning, but you were unsure how long that might last given the urgency they requested it with. And Jungkook’s behavior regarding any calls from Corporate today, or the rest of the week from what he stated, was worrisome. It was a concern you’d tuck to the back of your head, it wasn’t your business anyways.
        As the day went on, you saw that life in the office was quite eventful, so to speak. After the ordeal of Yoongi’s divorce proceedings this morning, and Jungkook avoiding Corporate like the Black Plague, an array of unusual things for a normal day to day office routine continued to happen.
        Mainly, Jungkook was entirely distracting. To you, the staff and mostly to himself. He would constantly try to make conversation with anyone, and the topics were always painfully awkward. Anytime he was actually in his office, more time was spent playing Overwatch with Taehyung than doing any kind of work. Not to mention he eventually ventured over to the conference room, with Jimin and Hoseok in toe, for their “twice a day dancercise routine” as their official 15 minute break away from their computers.
        If you thought the nonsense would end there, you were soon to be corrected. It in fact continued in the numerous times Taehyung and Jimin came by your desk asking for copies. And not even official work copies- they were asking you to print out different versions of invitational flyers for their ‘seasonal crop party’. To your surprise, Taehyung had inherited the only strawberry farm in the region due to his grandparents passing, not like you had bothered to ask anyways. The only question you cared an answer for was if Jungkook had approved of using office supplies for this. It shouldn't have shocked you like it did that the man himself had designed the flyer and organized such an event, but still.
        Lunchtime couldn’t arrive quicker. Some of the staff beelined with their meals over to the lunchroom area, while the others went out to eat. You half expected Jungkook to take advantage of the lunchroom crowd for his shenanigans, but he opted for eating in his office with Jimin and Taehyung instead. You could hear their incessant planning murmurs as you passed by to heat up your meal.
“Y/N!” Jungkook exclaimed once he caught your movement. “If the others give you the cold shoulder, feel free to join us here for lunch.”
“Oh, it’s okay. I planned on eating at my desk,” You chose your next words carefully, feeling the party planners’ gazes. “But I’ll keep it in mind in case I get too lonely, thank you!” The soft smile that spread across your smile was enough to comfort them from the small rejection. They went back to their discussions and you headed for the microwave.
        Peaking your head into the lunchroom, it was filled with the younger, unwelcoming faces from earlier. It’s not like you planned on sitting down and chatting with them, you were there just to heat up your lunch, but upon entry you noticed how their conversations volumes lowered all the way down to whispers and snickers. You focused your attention on the whirring noises and beeps the microwave offered as a mere distraction. It was a curse you carried for as long as you could remember. Any giggle, whisper, snicker, or anything of the sort you heard in your perimeter, you felt was directed at you. As if they could see the list of failures and misfortunes displayed on your back.
        You took your bowl and offered the room a nervous smile and nod before leaving, hoping it came across as a ‘sorry to bother, enjoy your lunch’.  As you exited the room, Hoseok, tailed by Yoongi, was heading with his food over to the conference room.
“Y/N, come join us if you want.” Hoseok was beaming, if the sun was human it would be him. Contrary to the one walking past him, not bothering to stop. He could be truthfully considered the dark side of the moon. Although with his back to you, you could make out his unrelenting scowl reflecting in the conference room’s glass wall. “Ignore him, he’s still mad over this morning.”
“All things considered, I can’t blame him. But I think I’ll pass.” Hoseok hooked his free arm around yours before you could continue.
“Nonsense, you shouldn’t cast yourself out on the first day.” In truth, Hoseok’s friendly manner and joyous attitude couldn’t be denied. You felt his genuine interest in making sure your transition into the office was a smooth one. In the room, Yoongi was already gulpin down his food, not bothering to glance up until he spoke.
“Shut the door so I can tell you…” Words escaped him, replaced by a sigh as he spotted your presence, and Hoseok’s sudden realization of what this lunch reunion entailed. Surely, they were meant to discuss the divorce proceedings, but Hoseok forgot upon trying to welcome you.
“Right… Y/N, rain check? Alone on your first day though...” He sighed as he flushed with embarrassment and you couldn’t help but chuckle.
“Don’t worry,” that was directed more at Yoongi if anything, a small assurance accompanied by the subtlest of nods. The rest was for Hoseok, as a dismissive joke to calm his worries. “I’ll probably join the Crop Festers and their shenanigans.” He cocked his head in confusion, a sharp ‘hm?’ caught in his throat. You brushed it off, leaving them with a wave. Wishing them a nice lunch and closing the door behind you, it was unknown to you that the Crop Festers had overheard, and were expecting you at Jungkook’s door excitedly.
“So you’re joining us then?” Taehyung assumed overjoyed, and Jimin couldn’t hide his giddiness. Jungkook was at the back at his desk, shaking his head in tune with soft chuckles before waving you in. It was clear that there was no way to have an unbothered lunch for the next 45 minutes, so… You joined.
        Tae, as he now urged you to call him, and Jimin made space for you between them. Rice, meats, noodles, and an array of veggies were spread across the desk, now along with your own addition of food and in no time you were all eating and sharing your meals. Jungkook even offered up the few remaining biscuits, causing Tae and Jimin to fuss over why weren’t they brought out sooner and how good of a cook you were. Now they were expectant for next Monday morning for a pleasant cheesy boost.
        Unknown to your conscious self, you were having a nice time. Further into the lunch, you became more involved with the Crop Party planning, and were even getting a bit excited for the day to arrive. A paid work day for a strawberry picking party? Who could say no to that? You weren’t ready to admit it just yet, with it being the first day and all, but… You were starting to like this place, even if you weren’t ready to acknowledge it. Once lunch was over, and everyone was making their way back to their desks, they eyed you with slight annoyance as you walked out of the office along with Tae and Jimin, still laughing at one of Jungkook’s impressions of some of the staff. Unaware, Yoongi and Hoseok exchanged a suspicious glance. Who was to blame any of them? It was a first for them to see someone new being friendly, or accepting the office shenanigans as they transpired.
Tumblr media
        Afternoon was a milder version of what the morning turned out to be, everyone was calmer now, and as the hours passed you noticed they worked harder. Even Jungkook was filing reports and taking work calls, as long as they weren’t from Corporate. One of your last tasks was to send out some notice of change in policy emails to clients, it was the most time consuming, but it helped the remaining hours pass by in a flurry.
        Bags started to be packed and coats began to be thrown on as the clock got nearer to 5:00pm. Everyone was ready to put an end to the odd Monday, and you could tell by their soft smiles and shy ‘See you tomorrow’s.  Hoseok dropped by your desk with a “Lunch tomorrow, for sure!” before leaving and wishing you well. Yoongi followed behind him, not offering anything at all. More than likely still fussy over his personal issues being announced in the office. Jimin and Taehyung each went for a goodbye hug, as they were more than excited to have you aboard. Often they carpooled, you found out that they live together on the farm. After being friends for so long, they decided to run it together. Only you and Jungkook, who was still stuck in his office remained. With your things on hand, you peered through his window to give him a small wave which he returned, followed by pointing to the phone and making mocking expressions of talking too much. With a shake of your head, you went to clock out, putting an end to the first day on the job. You would call it a success, for it being your very first 8-5, and it deemed celebration. So once you hopped on your Verna, and peered out of the parking lot, your destination was clear: Slack Jack’s.
        You had never once been there on a Monday, much less after 5:00pm. Late weekend nights were what you had grown accustomed to due to your old odd jobs here and there. But much to your surprise, the ambience at this hour was much more tranquil and up your alley than what you were used to. You hated crowds and loud groups of people, and there was none of that here. Eyes scanned the bar for your favorite and only owner, who upon noticing your arrival called you over to an empty stool up at the bar. Eager steps made their way over as he placed your favorite shot on the counter: a water moccasin. You paid no mind to the individual next to your stool as you sat down, eyes trained on the peachy, sweet and sour whiskey shot glass before you. Widened eyes stared, unknown to you, as you drank it in one big gulp, placing the now empty glass on the counter, snapping and pointing at Jackson with finger guns as you exclaimed “Hit me again”.
        A smirk played on the corners of his mouth as he placed a second one just as you finished asking. Knowing your habits, he made two as soon as he saw you. “I’m guessing today went... ?” He was expecting you to tell him all about your day, as soon as you finished fighting off the burning feeling down your throat. It was always the second one that got you the most. Hissing for only a few seconds, you spoke.
“Honestly? Honestly honest? I can’t complain.” Alcohol was slowly starting to take effect on you as you rambled on. “At first I was kinda freaked out? Because everyone was kinda weird? OH! And then Jungkook decided to out a guy’s whole divorce or something?” In the background, next to you, someone cleared their throat as Jackson bit his bottom lip, trying to hold in a chuckle, but you went on. “I don’t know, it was weird. But like afterwards, it was pretty chill. Jungkook ain’t that bad. And lowkey? I can’t wait for the strawberry season, dude.” A snort escaped you as you thought back on the Crop Party. You couldn’t wait. Tae mentioned something about making fresh milkshakes, and right now you were wildin’ at the thought.
“So I’m guessing you’ve met Yoongi?” Jackson’s hand motioned you to look to your right. Lo and Behold, Mr. Divorcee was magically there, a citrus whiskey on the rocks in his hands. And that’s when it hits you, you have a loud mouth.
“Oh my God, I’m so sorry.” Eyes like a deer in headlights, pleading for forgiveness. Yoongi waved it off. You finally heard his voice without a hint of annoyance.
“It’s fine.” Bringing the glass to his lips, he took a long sip. Which reminded you.
“Jackson, may I please--”
“Have another?” He chuckled as he went to prepare a fresh shot. “Don’t get carried away tonight, though. You work tomorrow, remember?”
“Hey, I have self control. I won’t drink past 6:30, I swear.” To even prove such control, you didn’t rush to down the shot. Instead you tried to build a conversation with the man in charge of the drinks, but he cursed silently at a reminder.
“Fuck, excuse me for a sec. I have to call my parents.” You remembered him mentioning something about an upcoming anniversary as he rushed to the back, leaving you alone with Yoongi, a shot and your thoughts.
        Allowing your mind to travel far for a moment, the waterfall of bitter memories with your family started to cloud your field of vision. Forgetting where you were and who was around, you brought your hands up to either cheek and gave yourself some quick, small smacks in an attempt to distract your tear ducts from doing their job. A groan escaped you as you reached for the shot in front of you, disappearing it in an instant. So much for self control.
        The man next to you watched in awe. He already knew far more about you than whatever first impressions you thought you gave, courtesy of Jackson. But he was one to always doubt the extent of the things he said, and since forming odd suspicions of you at the office, he figured now was the time to see if anything added up.
“Escapism?” The sudden voice shocked you, and brought you back to reality. Another snort made its way out your nose, in an endearing manner.
“You can say that. No, you know what? Life is a bitch.” In your drunken manner, you broke. You vented, you ranted, and you rambled. You laid out your entire life in front of this man, this stranger, revealing more than what was necessary, but you couldn’t stop yourself. “And now here I am.” Fingers tapped the counter, antsy. Waiting for Jackson to come back and serve you yet another shot to calm down.
“I see, I’m sorry for all that. Things are looking up now, at least?” Yoongi shrugged, a winced expression since your story was still fresh in his mind. “But, if it makes you feel any better, I have some fucked up shit going on myself."
“Oh really? A divorce? Family exile beats loveless marriage any day, boy.” Another side effect of your alcoholism was straight up competitiveness. Even though it stung him, he couldn’t help but laugh. For him, it even felt like the first time in a while he had done so earnestly.
“My wife is pregnant.” Whiskey glass was brought back to his lips for a moment, barely touching them. “And it’s not mine.” He finished off the remainder of the glass, while you stared in silence, jaw dropped.
“Whoa, that sucks... How do you know though?” You brought your face closer to him, in curious intrigue, not knowing what personal space was; but he didn’t mind much as he inched in a bit closer to speak.
“I had a vasectomy.” A sighed escaped his core as he too revealed his life to a stranger. “Before we got married, we were clear that we didn’t want children. At least not for a long time, so I got the surgery done. If we ever wanted kids we would have a talk and take out time to decide how to go about it. But one day,” he shook his head, thoughts lost in the memory “she was very persistent that I go get the reversal done. Like, that I had to get it done that week. And I found that suspicious, so I pretended to get it.” His fingers now mimicked yours earlier, lightly tapping on the counter. “We waited the recovery time, had sex, and a few days later, she was pregnant. So I filed for divorce. Do I win now?” His usual serious pout curled into a smirk as you shook your head no.
“Nah, I still win. You can always get a new wife, I can never get new parents. I don’t make the rules, chief.”
Tumblr media
        The mood was starting to liven up, but the universe often threw curveballs in your direction. Text alerts distracted you from your office chatter with Yoongi, and again, you soured. It wasn’t often when you received messages from your cousin, but you never talked about the elephant in the room. This time, however.
‘Your dad’s been asking about you lately. Anything worth mentioning?’ You watched the words fade from the pop-up screen, and debated in silence. The shift was visible, and Yoongi caught it as it happened. “Is everything okay?” he asked. Instead of answering, you simply opened the chat and showed him the message. Grabbing your phone in his hands he stared.
“Do I answer? Do I just leave it for tomorrow? What could I even bother telling?” Complaints continued to spew out of your mouth, muting the light clicks of Yoongi’s rapid fingers working on the keyboard. You’re only brought back from your rambles when you feel him pressing your phone still in his hand, back into yours, a message already written out in the text box.
‘I just started at a new office job. Safe, secure. It’s working out.’ Short, simple and to the point. A quick nod was enough for him to press send. As he pulled away, leaving you with the chat which was instantly read, you expected to feel a bit better, but your worries and anxiety remained as your fingers drummed at a quickened pace, itching for yet another shot.
        Right on cue, Jackson’s presence made its way to you. Catching your tells, his hands moved straight to the Schnapps.
“Actually, I think she might be better off with water instead.” You shot daggers at him, annoyed at such an assumption. “Same for me. You said you won’t drink past 6:30. I don’t make the rules, chief.” You couldn't grumble out much, because as much as you desperately wanted to be irresponsible and drown your sorrows in waves of alcohol, you had a new, very decent, job to uphold. And that required showing up sober.
        The rest of the night went by pretty decently, ending with a new weird routine of going home early instead of waiting until Jackson finished closing off, to drag you all the way to his car. The nights you drove to your home from the bar were less than the ones he posted you up at his own apartment.
“You’re good to drive, right?” This time, it was Yoongi who was nice enough to walk you over to the beat up Verna at the end of the lot.
“Surprisingly enough, I am. Thanks.” Sticking the key into the lock, you jiggled it around. The only sure way to open the door these days. “What about you?”
“Considering I only had one glass of whiskey, I think I’m alright.” He motioned over to the Genesis next to you. “I’m gonna head out. Drive safe.”
        You nod and make sure he's at least safe besides his car door before entering yours. Turning back briefly to look at you, your goodbye wave stops halfway as his words reach your ears.
“Lunch tomorrow.” Is all he says. he doesn't even bother waiting for a confirmation, he simply gets inside his car and drives away.
        Starting up your car was always a hassle but you got it kicking in no time. As you pulled out of the lot, you spotted the Genesis still at the empty intersection. You flashed your headlights twice before heading the opposite direction, and from your rearview saw him continue on his way. Despite all the characters and particular personas inhabiting the living bodies of your coworkers, you couldn’t help but think: Yoongi's just might be the most intriguing to you after all.

Renovating An Old Home? Here's How To Know If There's Asbestos
Though it is fire-resistant and durable, asbestos — when inhaled or indirectly taken into the body — can be dangerous. It can cause respiratory diseases and cancers, and can even lead to death. However, as long as they remain undisturbed and unexposed, asbestos can still be considered safe. But what if your decades-old house will undergo renovation and you’re suspecting it has asbestos that is at risk of getting exposed? How will you know if you need to hire an expert in asbestos removals in Nottingham? In this feature, we’re tackling how you can determine if there’s asbestos in your old home. Determine if your house was built or renovated before the mid-’80s. Asbestos can be hard to identify. But one of the things you can fundamentally do is to check whether your house was built or has been renovated before the mid-1980s. Because asbestos was a popular construction material from the ‘40s until the late ‘80s, there’s a high chance that your home has asbestos if it was constructed or revamped somewhere during that period. (On a side note, it’s important to know that blue and brown asbestos were banned in the UK in 1985, however, the total asbestos ban was only done in the ‘90s. So you also have to be mindful if your house was built or has undergone home improvement during that decade). Know where asbestos materials might be used in your home. Experts who specialise in asbestos removals in Leicester take note that there are places where asbestos can be commonly found. These include flat roofing materials, old vinyl, and linoleum tiles, ceiling tiles, outdoor siding, glazing and caulking for windows, textured paint, drywall patching, and joint compound. It can also be found in attic and wall insulations. Get help from a professional analyst. If you’re highly suspicious about your home having asbestos, don’t proceed with the renovation yet. Enlist professional help and tap someone who’s licensed to analyse asbestos presence in your home. Experts in asbestos removals in Nottingham have the right skills and experience to inspect and conduct asbestos remediation in both residential and commercial properties. Precautionary Measures To Remember When you're exposed to asbestos, its negative health effects typically show up until many years later. This is why it’s important to take the necessary precautionary measures, especially when you’re doing a do-it-yourself renovation. Make sure to wear protective gear. Never ever touch surfaces that might be containing or might have contained this harmful material. And be careful not to stir up dust in the said areas. Unprofessionally done sanding, sawing, and drilling can be harmful. If your resources allow — and for safety purposes — it’s best not to embark on a DIY home improvement. Did you know that around 61% of DIY renovators have been reported to be exposed to asbestos? Another 53% said that their partners have also been exposed; another 40% of DIY renovators reported the same thing happened to their children. When you tap renovation experts and pros in asbestos removals in Leicester, you are eliminating your and your loved ones’ risk of experiencing asbestos exposure.

A View To A Winchester (Part 1)
Series Page
Summary: Julie’s starting a new life after divorce in a home with a very nice view.
A Dean X OFC story. No idea how long it will be, but I’ve got time on my hands. I got this idea staring out the view of my home office window and thinking how nice it would be to have Dean Winchester to ogle. I’m thinking it will go the fluffy route, with some angst, and maybe some smut down the line. Not sure yet.
Section Word Count:  3,755
Section Warnings: mild language
~~~~~
The view from Julie’s home office had always provided some solace. A calm had washed over her the very first time she stared at it months ago. She’d been alone searching for a new place to move all of her stuff into as soon as possible. Well, not alone if you counted the perky real estate agent hovering in the doorway. Back then, she had no idea what her next step would be. But this little view of nothing special hit the pause button as all the pieces of her life crumbled out of her control. The view had been a distraction amidst the decisions and paperwork and phone calls. Everything that came along with severing the life she had built with the man she’d married.
She could hear her spry sixty-six year old mother passing the vacuum downstairs in the living room. Again. For the second time that day. Bless her sanitation compulsion. It’s only going to get worse now that she had to leave her house for this fumigation fiasco… will never hear the end of how she always knew keeping a clean house was important. Julie sighed. It will keep her from mentioning Steve for a while. That’s a positive.
She’d started her work project that Saturday morning at the PC atop the corner desk. A wall slathered in a turf green color with the precision of a five year old had been her view past that computer screen. Wish I’d had time and money to paint the whole house before moving in.
The uncomfortable office chair and the ache in her lower back had shifted Julie’s location by hour four of her remote work day. She gave in to try and subdue the pain, pulled out her laptop and sank into the sofa bed. The discount furniture had proved remarkably comfy. It was also positioned at a perfect height under the two side by side windows. The view looking out over her small backyard was always filled with entertaining items.
It was a standard middle class development. No HOA in this joint. Her neighbors to the left had perfected the art of hoarding chaos in their backyard. Every inch was filled with something either garden or tool related or well past its usefulness. Julie had a quaint covered patio right next to their property line. Mom, the one with the green thumb and outdoor enthusiasm, had sat under it more than Julie had over the past few days. Nature is better experienced behind a pane of glass. I’m too sweet for those mosquitoes.
A beautiful dagwood tree skirted the other fence line toward the far edge of her property. It’s branches brushed over the detached carport capping off the incline from the long driveway. This divorcee didn’t have it in her budget for a two car garage. But, she did like the fact that her car wasn’t the first thing a guest saw in front of the house when they drove down the road to visit. The quaint cape cod had a simple charm to it, with another small dagwood by the porch.
You should have taken Steve for everything he was worth. Oh, her mom’s never requested, yet always given, opinion when it came to her ex. If only she did have some of that superstitious Italian ability to curse others. Steve’s dick would have fallen off a long time ago.
Nope, this view had been just enough for Julie when she’d moved in three months ago. After the divorce had become final. And then, last week, somehow, she’d managed to convince her dead-set-in-her-ways mom to leave her row home in the city and stay with her, instead of at a hotel during the necessary remediation.
You try and talk an old school Italian into leaving their home unattended. Try, I dare you.
Julie’s younger brother, Joseph, was on the west coast with his wife and two sons. There was no way, as much as her mother worshipped the ground her son walked on, that Joey would be able to come and rescue Mamma Mia for this one. Knowing their mother was with Julie made little brother feel better. He’d uttered that phrase over a video call, his youngest boy squirming in his lap and grabbing for the screen. They both wouldn’t be alone for a little while, he added, which cut Julie in a way that she was sure he hadn’t intended. It’ll keep Ma busy, Jule-Jule, having you to fuss over. Like she used to do when we were kids.
As she tapped with an absentminded rhythm on the down arrow key, trying to focus on the spreadsheet, she couldn’t help but steal glances at the patch of unoccupied concrete driveway in the other neighbor’s yard. The one neighbor she’d only seen on two occasions. But, both times, he had been a glorious sight to behold. The man she’d learned was called Dean Winchester.
The first time she’d spotted him, Julie had been outside late one evening, only a couple days after moving in. Her cleaning of the backyard had gone better than expected that afternoon. Even a run in with a spider had not scared her inside. Normally, she would have abandoned any items and cleaning supplies in her wake of fright. That was not an option. Cause I don’t have anyone around to kill them. She faced the one-inch eight legged fiend like a trooper, brushing it into the grass.
The finishing touch of her busy day had been the placement of two wicker chairs and a tiny table in the covered patio’s alcove. Spring had not officially arrived yet, but she’d risk putting the outdoor furniture where it belonged. Her frame sank into one of the chairs with a wine cooler in hand, her aching feet propped up in the seat of the other. She tugged the cardigan sweater closed at the slight chill in the air.
Her chatty neighbor Wes, the one with the hoarding problem, had talked her ear off for a good half hour. She basked in her accomplishment as the sun set and she was talked more at than to. He seemed quite content speaking over her as she attempted a conversation. Not in an overbearing or conceited way. It was reminiscent of an excited child who couldn’t wait to get all the details out about their amazing story. His partner, Samuel, would try to steer Wes back and remind him to wait his turn in the most patient of ways. Julie had no energy left to struggle and simply listened. It was what she was good at, after all.
Julie quickly surmised the amount of alcohol they imbibed could be part of the reason they got along so well. They were night and day. Wes worked in construction, had a scruffy stark blonde beard that matched the ponytail, and lived in faded jeans and a Phish t-shirt. Samuel was a retired Executive Director and dressed like one of those distinguished older gentlemen in a Land’s End catalog.
The couple had eventually turned in, wishing her a good night. Julie sat, alone, in the dark. She was too tired to get up. Her lids were getting heavy. A loud rumble from a vehicle had stirred her awake. She cursed at falling asleep, outside, leaving herself vulnerable in a new place. The open wine cooler bottle hung in her hand at a precarious angle. She placed it atop the table and prepared to lift her ass out of the now uncomfortable seat. Then, she spotted headlights creeping up part of the driveway she could see past the other neighbor’s house. There was a good 30 feet of grass between her chain link fence and the neighbor’s drive.
A motion sensor light kicked on. The massive front of a vintage black car came into view. It pulled in slow and cautious like a boat approaching a pier. The engine ticked off and grunted at the journey’s end. Then the driver’s door swung open. And, in the darkness, under the covered patio, Julie could feel her mouth start to dry up at the sight of the man who’d been behind the wheel.
She couldn’t explain the reaction, even thinking about it now. But, there’d been something overwhelmingly masculine about the way that figure eased out of the car. The presence triggered her senses into overdrive. There was no flight or fight response. All freeze on her end.
Work boots landed on the concrete in a secure and smooth motion one after the other. Her ears tuned into the thud of his soles, then the shift of toe boots sliding against gravel. The fluorescent light played with the shadows and cut a chiseled physique out of the contrast. The buzzing sound from the bulbs over him intensified in her ears. Like he was generating energy. The tingling sound crested in waves in her direction. She licked her lips. A metallic, coppery flavor laced the air. The taste reminded her of when she had accidently touched a live wire and received a mild shock.
She dared to tilt her head. Her black rimmed bifocal prescription glasses got a clearer image of this man. He dipped back into the car to pull out a duffel bag and tossed it by his feet. He wore dark jeans draped over muscled thighs and a pair of bow legs. She made out all those details thanks to the light shining down and carving out a pronounced oval between those legs. A plaid shirt fitted and hugged a set of broad shoulders. The hem of the shirt hung in the perfect spot above… well, maybe that was when her mouth had completely dried up. That man had an ass so perfect, so curvy, she’d never seen a male backside look that good in denim.
My mind has to be playing tricks on me. She shook her head to rid her brain of the fuzziness. Or, that wine cooler was a lot stronger than I expected. There’s no way the rest of him is that… this... perfect.
Tumblr media
And, then, he turned into the light, and gave her a glimpse of his face. And proved her goddamn wrong.
He bent down to grab the bag off the ground and swung the door shut, producing a squeak. But, the squeak could have been one of disbelief coming from her mouth. A spiky, short cut of hair topped his head. The profile of this man had sharp angles in all the right areas. Dips and swells in every other spot of his face brought to mind those old Guess jeans ads Julie had seen in countless magazines growing up. She’d wished the moon and stars wiped away in that moment and willed the sun to rise instead. She wanted to see every inch of him and take in all that was reserved for the shadows.
And as quick as that, he was gone, with a confident posture and matching swagger. He disappeared down the driveway. He must have gone into the front door of his tiny house out of view. A couple seconds went by and then a light filled one of the small square windows. But, she saw no movement. Then another window snapped on in illumination. This one was situated on the wall of the house closer to her property. But, still nothing. No sign of him, not even a passing shadow. Both lights eventually turned off. Back in the dark, Julie gasped for the air she’d been denying herself as she spied on this other neighbor. She scurried back in the house like a mouse.
The wheels of the unplugged vacuum cleaner rolled along the hardwood in the first story directly below and rolled her out of the recollection. Mom was moving to another room to continue cleaning. Little to no insulation in the walls and the small square footage made everything way too easy to hear in this house. Her mother’s snores in the first floor bedroom last night had woken her up. She frowned, realizing she could no longer watch the occasional soft porn in her bedroom without the use of headphones. She was fifteen all over again.
Not that I’ve needed much in terms of arousing material since my other neighbor. Dean.
The man had no routine to speak of that she could discern. The car might be parked in the driveway for a week or two, then gone for one week. Then back for only a day to be gone again. For a month after that first sighting, the only sign of him being home had been the car in the driveway. Her voyeuristic tendencies shifted into high gear. She found the views from her office window and the sliding glass door leading out to her yard even more interesting now.
She resorted to asking Wes about the neighbor when the car had disappeared again for a few days. Wes’ eyes lit up in obvious appreciation at the question that bright Saturday morning. “Oh, you mean Dean? Dean Winchester. Been around for a couple years. Keeps to himself... and his yard mowed in the summer, when he’s around. Quiet. Well, except for his radio when he’s working on the Impala. Thank God he’s got good taste in music.”
“Impala?”
“His car, sweetie.” Samuel had snuck up behind Wes and clarified.
“Oh.” Julie did not know enough about cars to have identified the model. She discerned the basics. It was black and bulging and could batter ram her compact into an accordion if they’d ever gotten into a crash.
“It’s a beauty. His pride and joy.” Wes tilted his beer over toward Dean’s driveway. “I got to look under the hood of her once. I offered to help, but…”
“He’s got a clear indication of how good you are with cars, Wes.” Samuel raised an eyebrow and pointed to the rusty, old truck behind them.
“My financial ability doesn’t have anything to do with my knowledge and skills in car repair,” Wes huffed.
“I could make a counter argument, but I’m hungry and really want you to cook tonight.” Samuel tapped Wes’s shoulder.
“What does he do for a living?” Julie asked.
“He can’t really talk about it.” Wes nodded in an exaggerated manner.
Julie could feel her mouth turn down in disappointment. “Why not?”
“He’s hinted it’s government related. Possibly Homeland Security.” Samuel added.
“Oh. Wow.” The hours kind of made sense. But, the tiny house in this mediocre neighborhood didn’t line up with the salary that went along with a job like that. She kept the opinion to herself. As she usually did with most things.
That afternoon, Julie had gotten a bug up her ass to clean the second floor. Her mom would be coming to visit the next day. The last thing she wanted to see her do was pull out the mop and bucket. I’ll have to lock up all my cleaning products. Of course, mom’s sneaky little self will probably pack up her own arsenal of weapons in her car.
After she’d finished with her bedroom an hour later, she’d attacked her office. The windows, inside and out, had been begging for a proper wipe down. She raised the roman shades left by the previous owners to the very top of the sill, coughed at the dust, and then lifted one of the windows up enough to tilt it into the room. The pane rested against the sofa back. Julie started to clean the exterior.
A breeze pushed in through the screen while she worked. It forced her to time the spraying of cleaner fluid so she didn’t end up with chemicals in her face. When things settled, she bent into the task and wiped. Outside, an angry engine rumbled off to the right. She knew that sound. She’d only heard it once before, but it had ingrained itself into her brain. She licked her lips, like Pavlov’s dog. Her mouth curled into a smile now that she could attach a name to the other neighbor. Dean’s home. Her heart sped up.
Daylight. Moment of truth. The rag dropped from her hand. She looked around for the binoculars. They waited on the sofa’s side table, having been fished out of storage after that first night she’d seen him. Her fingers tugged the window screen up. An unpleasant squeak from the vinyl rubbing together clawed at her inner ear. She hunched down and sat on the sofa, barely tipping her head up over the bottom window sill. Her hand snuck to her left and snatched the binoculars.
She could only imagine how ridiculous she looked at that moment. Yep, you’ve brought out the voyeur in me, Dean. Or, should I call you Mr. Winchester, until we’ve been properly introduced? Please, God. If you’re going to throw me a bone after all this shit with Steve, let this man be a hunky neighbor truly worthy to have spent this much time obsessing over.
She rested the binoculars on the bridge of her nose and tried to focus through the magnified lenses. Sparkling wheel rims, up close and personal, edged into the scene, along with the rest of the car. The anticipation of how much more of Mr. Winchester she might be able to see had her movements searching and tracking in a frantic pace. The binoculars landed on the driver’s side window. Only seeing the outside reflection made her heart drop. The engine ticked off. Then, the door opened.
Showtime.
“You wanted me to check in, Sammy. For the third time, I’m fine.” The clarity of the voice wafting up to her perch from the second story made her gasp. Could I be this lucky? It’s like I’m in the perfect sound traveling angle possible.
After the shock of the eavesdropping accessibility died down, she gasped for a second time when she saw Dean emerge from the car.
Holy shit.
Dean glanced around the yard, checked his surroundings and stilled. He leaned on the side of the car and stared into her yard. Julie guessed jeans, boots, and a plaid shirt might be his attire of choice. But, good God. Hunky didn’t do him justice. He was fucking gorgeous. Rough, scruffy, a bit aged. Yet, he was also perfect model material with a boyish hint underneath. He had a well proportioned nose, dimpled chin, and a very nice set of lips with just the right amount of pout. His brown hair had a combo of red and golden highlights in the sunshine. The only thing she couldn’t make out well enough from the distance was his eye color.
“Things are good. Just got back home from a hunting trip. Yeah, I’ve been tracking the news. Run of the mill stuff. Happy days are here again.”
And, the voice. Holy shit. It was deep, with bass, and reverberated like his car’s engine in her ears.
“How’s things out west?” He nodded, apparently listening to a long explanation. “Eileen?” Another nod, then his eyes widened. “Really? Congrats on knocking her up, little brother. Finally. Only been with her for two years. ‘Bout time.” He smirked. The grin faded into a serious, tight expression. His jaw clenched and Julie heard a moan leave her lips. “Nah. There’s no reason for me to head your way. I’m fine. Someone’s gotta man the east coast. Most of our headaches popped up here in Delaware years back, remember?” He tilted his head from side to side and rolled his eyes. “Well, you never know. Better I stay here. Just in case. Listen, catch up’s been great.” He pinched his nose. “I’m beat. Just want to sleep for a week. Yeah. Will do. You too, Sammy.”
He propelled himself off the side of the car and reached in to pull the same duffel bag. The car door squeaked shut. And, he was gone again. Julie had gotten herself together after a minute or so and went about the window cleaning. The job was not as thorough as she had planned. A distracted focus had her staring at the Impala and Dean’s house for the majority of her time at the window.
And, maybe he had slept for an entire week after that. The car didn’t move. When she’d leave for work in the mornings she’d take her time by the sliding door to lock up. Easing down the concrete path toward the carport at a languid pace some days. Careful lawn inspection or a trip to check on the patio might fill a minute or so on others. With always the glances up in Dean’s general direction.
But the car would be there in the mornings and when she arrived from work for a few more weeks after that. Then, the erratic disappearances began again. The fun game she was playing of hide and seek with someone not even in on the diversion only turned into disheartening disappointment. He had the hide part down.
“Giulia?”
Mom called up to her from the stairwell and the memory escaped.
“Yeah?”
“Want lunch?”
“I’m fine.” She readjusted on the couch.
“I’m going to make some pasta fagioli, then, for dinner later. Going to go sit out on the patio.”
“Sounds good.” Mom enjoyed talking to Wes and Samuel. Julie thought her mother didn’t understand much of what Wes said when he’d had one too many beers in him, which was pretty much all the time. But, she laughed a lot. It was more about the company lately.
Her mother muttered something in Italian. “Don’t work all day! It’s the weekend.” Julie didn’t bother to respond. The sliding door whooshed open and then rolled shut. Her mind wandered back to Dean. He’d been gone for three weeks at her daily tick count. Maybe he really does have a secret government job. But, what the hell popped up in Delaware years back? Delaware never made the news on a national level. Well, except for Wilmington being the murder capital of the United States a few years ago. He couldn’t have meant that, could he? Maybe he’s undercover, living just outside the biggest city in the state in good ol’ Pike Creek? She shook her head. Dean had become a distraction and now a point of worry for her. And, she hadn’t even met the man.
She huffed, then typed an email, wrapping up her extra work on the weekend. “Time to get out of these pajamas and take a shower,” she mumbled to no one in particular.
