i genuinely don't care how good a piece of ai generated art or writing looks on the surface. i don't care if it emulates brush strokes and metaphor in a way indistinguishable from those created by a person.
it is not the product of thoughtful creation. it offers no insights into the creator's life or viewpoint. it has no connection to a moment in time or a place or an attitude. it has no perspective. it has no value.
it's empty, it's hollow, and it exists only to generate clicks (and by extension, ad revenue.)
it's just another revolting symptom of the disease that is late stage capitalism, and it fucking sucks.

I'm very into Jay's villain arc, it's just.. the whole Agent Walker/ the Administration set up is what I’m more into because:
The portal in Jay's division could be the key to find Arin's parents
Potential Sora vs Jay fight would be so cool
Zane's nindroid but human identity thing?? How the Administration discriminates Zane somehow
Jay. He didn't care about his job right? But does he care about his underlings? Make him see how badly injured his people are.. and make it personal. Let him invent something
And
What about this 'master of lightning joining *the path of darknessssss*'?? Would this be another "They use me because of my power" "The universe called me here" "I have to do this for (reason)" "The Administration didn't pay me enough so I'm here to get another income"
Maybe it's unfair to judge like that since the tournament episodes haven’t released yet.. I'm sorry, I might miss inventor Jay so much.. By being Agent Walker that means he has to rely on that side of him more. Him vs Sora fight would feel.. something else. It won't be just a fight but also a brain game (possible dirty play?). Jay ripping bunch of mech's cables when I just want to see him using cool gadgets more than just shooting bunch of lightning (It’s not like they're going to explore that power this time). He already did good with a gun..
Jay with any weapon actually

At this rate, current X-Men comics are proving Spiderman/Peter Parker cursing the X-Men as he leaves them in one comic right when they have moments like Emma Frost and Wolverine/Laura Kinney literally telling Ms Marvel/Kamala Khan that she doesn't know what its like to be oppressed like they are... ...Yes, they telling someone who grew up as a Muslim post-9/11...she doesn't know what its like to be oppressed...and even act like they more oppressed then everyone in the world I guess.

skyrim really does show you a bunch of indigenous people who faced genocide and are like "that's why they're eeeeevil, now go on and kill them" instead of actually sympathizing with them huh.
Well at least there are definitely no real world implications to deal with *I say knowingly*

ignore this.
learning to shut up when i dont have anything new to say to the discussions my mutuals are having about the treatment of the female characters in this show and fandom
even though ive just gone ahead and rambled in the tags a bunch of bullshit
#lohst.txt#they're all so right#because this fandom has had problems since the beginning#its always about the boys#the fics and the art and everything#and the fact that a large portion of this fandom is obsessed with the squip. the ACTUAL villain. yet would wish a 16 year old girl death#yeah. chloe did some fucked up things. yeah. dywh is an awful situation that was not handled well#(because this show has awful writing. you guys have been saying that already and youre right)#but come on. y'all act like the other characters did nothing wrong#if the writers would have cared to put actual depth into these characters#i havent listened to the source material in. a while. and i never got around to watching any other boot other than two rivers#i dont know what im saying#it was so easy to join bmc rp servers because no one ever picked the girls#did that mean i was left out of the rps? mostly. yeah#i mean. those servers always had the same rich and jake so we'd team up#but the jeremy and michael would barely give room for anyone else to interact with them#i used to have some discussions with someone about the flaws of this show and how the girls are constantly ignored#(back when i had sort of dipped out of the fandom)#anyway im never one to get involved in discourse directly#i support my mutuals and reblog art and post my silly little fics#mostly because im always too tired to put a lot of thought into any in depth analysis#(even though i have alot of thoughts on chloe and fairytales. which has nothing to do with this whatsoever)#everyone else has said it so much better than what i can currently come up with rn#but the way that the girls get watered down to one personality trait (this includes madeline). and are always used as background characters#the way there was so much christine hate at one point because she got inn the way of boyf riends#i looked chloe up on pinterest the other day out of curiosity#and there was so much hate#everyone likes christine and brooke#theyre the nice girls#the ones that get watered down to innocent and naïve and the mum friend of the group

I honestly love your writing so much—I love everything about it, especially how much detail you put into it without clogging it with unnecessary facts. You have a balance that I haven't found in too many other fanfiction writers and I really appreciate it.
Also-the little details you put into your work, especially with Chris and Leon, make them seem more real and it makes me squeal with joy.
(especially as someone with ADHD and most-likely-but-undiagnosed autism, seeing characters actually portray traits of mine realistically makes me rabid in the most positive way possible)
I hope to write as well as you someday 💞
Hi, this ask made me really happy, its just so fucking sweet. <3 I've put like. A lot of effort into my writing practice, I have an entire degree in writing and I'm currently working on a masters in creative writing. Storytelling, whether literary, illustrative, or somewhere in between, is probably my biggest passion and It genuinely makes me incredibly proud of myself to be able to make work that people enjoy. Adding the details I do is just something that I enjoy doing, a lot of what I add in is just my own personal hyperfixations/special interests. Or they're just parts of my experiences as a person. They say write what you know, and I know my own neurodivergence lol. I'm just really happy people find them relatable.
And ok, so technical time. For growing and expanding your writing abilities, all I can say is to read. Read everything. Read nonfiction, read original fiction(as many genres as you can) and please, please, please read poetry. When you read, pay attention to the way the words are used, how they interact with each other. How do they change each others meanings? How can you put words together in ways that surprise you? Listen for the melody of them. this sounds silly, but a lot of my writing is sound based. I don't always use words that make sense together, I use words that sound good together. There's been several books I've read that changed my relationship to writing and language as a whole, and I think that those are going to be different books for everyone. But to find them, you have to read so so so much. Like, I read Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy when I was 12 and while I was reading it I just went. Oh. This is what you can do with words. I've had similar experiences reading The House on Mango Street, Annihilation and Bourne, House of Leaves, the poem Bird Understander, and most recently, The Locked Tomb series. So most of all my advice is, pay attention to the writing you love, and steal everything you find beautiful. The hardest part is learning to put them all together, but that just comes with practice. I hope you can find the writings that change you, and if I happen to be one of them, I am truly, deeply honoured <3

I'e been fairly clear about the fact that I don't like Draco (I stand by this), but I will say his arc wouldve been far more coherent if he hadnt tried to actively capture Harry during the battle of Hogwarts. As it is, he made a few steps towards the beginning of what could be a redemption arc, and then ran 20 ft backwards, slapped someone on the head, and everyone reacted like he had taken steps forward. maddening.
Having him helping Harry would be out of character I think (even if you like him, you have to admit that Draco Malfoy's primary, most consistent and enduring trait is cowardice), but even that would work better than what happened

Also to clear some things up in the notes, specifically about Ao3:
Authors on Ao3 do not get notified if you subscribe to their work. We do not get notified if you leave a bookmark, even if it's public. If it's public, we can see a bookmark if we check the bookmarks, but a lot of people don't do that, or at least don't do it regularly. If it's private, we can't see it at all.
What authors can see (outside comments, kudos, and public bookmarks) is their statistics page, which lists, among other stuff that isn't relevant, total # of bookmarks on individual works (which includes total private bookmarks as a combined # total with public ones, but no names or links), total author subscriptions, and subscriptions for individual works. The only time we can see who did what is when we check comments actually on the fic, check kudos, or we check the public bookmarks. That's it. Who is making up that total subscription # count and total bookmark # count (which again, includes the # of private bookmarks, but not who made them), is a mystery. And we can't see total bookmarks and subscriptions for series. The only thing we see for that is public bookmarks.
If an author allows people to add their work to a collection (just a regular collection, not a bookmark collection), or to ask to add the work to a collection, an author will get notified of that. Collections are not bookmarks. And authors will not get notified of bookmark collections. We can see those by checking the public bookmarks, if the bookmark collection is public, but we do not get notifications about it. And if they're private, again, we don't see them all, other than presumably they are included in the total # of bookmarks on the stats page for individual works.
Also authors have to manually check their stats page. Most of us try not to do that daily because it can drive you insane (I know plenty of us check all the time though, and keep track of it offline, mostly to track trends). And if you've got a lot of fics... that's a lot of stats to keep track of. What I do see every day, though, which is very easy to read, is my daily kudos email, and within 15-30 minutes of posting, an email that someone has left me a comment.
(This is mostly a PSA to people who are upset authors don't know they've subscribed, and who leave nice comments solely in their bookmarks; even if it's a public bookmark, it's pretty likely the author will never see it, or at least not see it for a very long time, because a lot of people check those only rarely or don't check at all, versus comments and kudos, which are sent out as emails).
(Also just a personal one; if you've ever reblogged fanart, maybe consider doing the same for fanfiction, too? I see some wonderful people liking fanfiction promo posts, but seldom do I see people reblogging/otherwise sharing them)
A writer friend told me something that broke my heart a little bit today; they're going to quit publishing their fanfic.
My instant thought was that they had been trolled or attacked or that something terrible had happened in their life because this person is so passionate about their writing. It wasn't any of that. Engagement with their works has been going down, as it has for many of us. Comments are like gold dust a lot of the time, and just looking through the historical comment counts on old fics on ao3 demonstrates this trend very clearly. It was not simply the comments dropping off which caused them to decide to stop posting, however.
My friend came across a discord server for their fandom (I should point out here that their fandom interest and mine diverged a couple of years ago, we stay in touch but don't currently read each other's posts because I'm not into their fandom and they would rather gouge their eyes out with a wooden spoon than read anything Star Wars) and specifically to share fic in that fandom. They joined, because we all love a good fic rec, only to discover that their latest multichapter fic, which has almost no comments and very few kudos, is being hotly discussed in this server as one of the best stories ever. Not one of these people has bothered to say this to them on the fic. When they asked, none of participants could see the point in telling the author of the fic they apparently loved so much that they love it.
This discovery has absolutely destroyed my friend's love of sharing fic. They share because they love seeing other people's enjoyment, and fic writers do that through comments and kudos/reblogs/likes because we don't get paid. There is no literary critic writing a blog post/article about how amazing the story is for us to copy and keep/frame. There is no money from royalties. All we have are the words of the people reading our works.
Those people on that server could have taken five minutes of the time they spent gushing about how amazing my friend's story was to other people and used it to tell the one person guaranteed to want to hear that praise how much they loved it. They could have taken a moment to express their opinion to the person who spent hours upon hours plotting, writing, editing, and posting those chapters. Instead, they deprived my friend of thing that keeps them sharing their writing, and in the process have killed their love of it. My friend now feels used and unmotivated.
I won't be sharing a link to their fic, they said I could share their experience but not their identity. I know they plan to post one final chapter. I know they intend to express their hurt at being excluded from the praise for the thing they created, and I know they intend to announce that as a consequence they will not be posting for a long while, if at all.
So please, I beg you, don't hide your love of a story from the writer. It's just about the only thing we have.

I miss roleplaying, all my old roleplay groups kinda drifted apart :( but it was so fun
I just get nervous joining new servers so I haven't really done it in a few years outside of the occasional DnD session
