'Tears of the Mother'

A handcrafted Drake Bow, one of the last of it's specific make after the original bowyer of the Jungle Geists passed on without teaching a apprentice her secrets, it was specifically made to handle John's monstrous strength that would snap most other bows given to him to the point most Hunts and Nights of the Blade he participated in requiring him to hurl stones and sharpened branches at his prey.

When given the challenge by the Matriarch, the Bow Maker of the Clan immediately set to work for several days before approaching John with her first attempt, a simple Bow that was named 'Weeping Sorrow' by John after he managed to fire off three shots with it before it snapped. This only encouraged the Bow Maker as she set to work again and again, sending out bows to be tested and learning from their broken remnants, until finally after nearly two months of near constant work she finally made the final Bow for John...

When John recieved it and fired enough arrows to have emptied his practice quiver, he was overjoyed and remembered the lesson he had learned about the Bow and bestowed upon it the name of 'Tears of the Mother' and a far more secretive name that only he knows 'The Bane of Daemons'.

I’ve talked about Price, but what about og Soap?

Given the fact that he is a star child, an overachiever, someone that collects medals like bottle caps, he never had time to just… be. His schedule is always filled with PT and then some more PT. So yeah, it can get pretty lonely for him as well.

He is a history nerd, driven by his Scottish heritage. Actually, he is pretty invested in the MacTavish clan back home and you can spot his clan’s tartan on some pieces of civilian clothing that he owns. But he is not invested just in the history of his homeland. He can lose hours in museums and he loves taking guided tours through foreign cities. If a rock has a story he is very determined to find it. It’s sad that not many people are willing to listen to these stories that he records. He grew up listening to tales of mighty heroes, kings and queens, legendary common folk rising their weapons against injustice. Maybe they are responsible for Soap growing up to become a warrior. He just wished he could share them with someone… these stories that make his heart swell.

Imagine what happens to Soap’s heart when John Price asks him for a guided tour around Glasgow. They eventually enter a museum and not once does Price check his watch or ask how long their visit is going to take. He even asks follow up questions and he expresses his excitement (which means a lot coming from Price, as the range of emotions he can exhibit and display are quite limited). And of course, they couldn’t leave Glasgow without Price entering a souvenir shop and buying a scarf with the MacTavish tartan on it. Afterall, he can’t wait to become one.

Eridan's 'angels' survived significantly longer, while under fire from a significantly more powerful weapon. They're massively more durable than the most dangerous Underlings in the game, despite their session's Kernels containing weaker material.

What the fuck are these things made of?

Far from being random Underlings, these angels are starting to seem kind of important, actually.

Like Jade's frogs, they represent one of the dual traits of their Land - and Jade's frogs are mission fucking critical. Did these angels also have an endgame purpose to serve?

If so, just how badly has Eridan fucked us over?

I don't know for sure if this quote is related, but Sollux described angels as 'terrible' beings who 'usher in the end'.

If these are the the LOWAA angels, then they almost certainly did have an endgame role that Eridan didn't discover.

Karkat is really worried, isn’t he? He’s desperate to keep his team safe, even though most of them aren’t really listening to him any more.

Everyone gave this guy so much shit for being an ineffectual leader, but even now, he's taking his responsibility very seriously. Most of the other trolls would have thrown in the towel by now.

Six hundred hours.

This campaign went on for six hundred fucking hours, and Eridan still isn’t leaving Feferi the fuck alone. Did shooting all those angels not let off a little steam? Come on, man.

Summary: Professional killer vs. mosquito — who would win?

John walked into the bedroom, expecting you to already be asleep, or at least lying in bed, and instead found you standing on your pillow, head craned back to look to the ceiling, a hand with a folded newspaper in it raised ready to strike.

"What are you doing, darling?" he asked, amusement and confusion mixing in his voice. Despite your aggressive pose, there was no threat he could make out, and he doubted you would have picked a newspaper as your weapon of choice if the situation was serious.

"There's a mosquito in here somewhere," you explained, glaring around the room. "It's already bitten me three fucking times, and I'm not going to sleep until that fucker is dead. If I did I probably wouldn't have any blood left in me at all in the morning."

"Must be a very skillful mosquito if it managed to bite a legendary killer such as yourself three whole times," John teased.

"I was reading! With headphones on! Now could you stop laughing at me and actually help? Because if I can't kill this thing, I'll leave you here alone at it's mercy and sleep on the couch while you get your blood sucked out."

"Well, we can't have that," John chuckled, taking the improvised weapon from your hands, and scanned the room for your bloodsucking foe with the same deadly focus that he was so infamous for among your colleagues.

Even he couldn't immediately spot the mosquito. It had to be somewhere in here, but there were simply too many places for an insect to hide in the room. It would be near invisible against the dark bookshelf, or the curtains, could be sitting atop a picture frame where you wouldn't be able to look. If it were that easy, you wouldn't have spent the last fifteen minutes hunting the beast.

John prowled from one side of the room to the other, searching. Just when you were about to make a comment about how he wasn't any more successful than you, despite his earlier teasing, he went still. He'd spotted his prey.

The mosquito didn't stand a chance. John nudged the curtain it sat on, scaring the insect into flight so he could kill it without leaving bloodstains on the fabric. His hands clapped together, and just like that, your problem was solved. There was no escaping the Baba Yaga, not even for a mosquito.

John held up his palm to show you the bloody smudge proving his victory, and went to wash his hands. You followed him, handing him the towel to dry his hands before rewarding his efforts with a kiss.

"Thanks for avenging me," you grinned as you reached for the ointment to stop the itching of your mosquito bites.

"Anything for you, love."

does this make much sense? no. is it going to be long? yes. am i sometimes very happy about what my mentally ill lil brain cooks up while i sleep? very much so.

tony chen is a rotten super villain in every universe but in this one kenta was his assassin until he finally had enough, turned on his master during the bloodiest night known in these circles, john wick style, and then disappeared off the face of the earth. was tony running the high table? how deep does the lore go? who knows. i was asleep. my brain did not have the capacity to figure it all out.

flash forward some years. kenta is living a normal life. he has a boring office job. he’s reconnected with babe, his estranged brother who ran away from home at the first sight of sketchy activities and was spared from all of tony’s bullshit. unfortunately for kenta, babe - happily married and pregnant - is channelling all his extra hormones and boredom into a mission to socialize his hermit crab of an older brother.

which is how kenta ends up eating dinner in babe and charlie’s warehouse loft of doom, sitting opposite of kim - a regular customer at the couple’s garage and a casual friend. it’s an awkward affair because a) kim can't stop staring b) babe keeps shooting these looks at kenta all “see, i brought you a hot ginger, do something with it” and c) kenta would much rather be at home. unsurprisingly, when kim offers him a ride home at the end of the evening, kenta says no.

this turns out to be a bad call because on his way home, kenta gets jumped. it happens sometimes - after all, he was tony’s weapon for over a decade and made a lot of enemies, no one can escape their past without occasionally being haunted by it. except this time when he limps out of the alleyway, clutching a minor stab wound on his side, there is a car idling by the pavement.

it's kim, rolling down the window and telling kenta to get his ass in. against his better judgment kenta does.

kim speeds off the scene of the crime with the kind of ease and confidence kenta has only ever seen from babe. it quickly becomes apparent that he knows way more about kenta than he should because he starts asking about cameras and when kenta just stares blankly - bleeding all over the nice upholstery - kim laughs and says “don’t worry, even if you got a bit rusty and missed one, i know a guy. or two. since they live with me you'll meet them soon anyway.”

and fuck, kenta should have just trusted his instincts instead of chalking kim making him nervous up to having someone so pretty pay any level of attention to him. he finally finds his voice (and lowkey also his knife) and demands to know who the hell kim is or if he's even called that. “oh i am,” kim answers gleefully, “and you could say i’m a… freelancer.” which, great. just amazing. kenta is being kidnapped by some amateur bounty hunter and his day officially couldn't get any worse.

… but it does. because once they reach their destination, the second he's ushered into an apartment he's greeted by an obnoxiously loud scream of “holy shit, he actually did it!” followed by a slightly less obnoxiously loud “our kimmy here is a big fan!” and then “oh fuck he’s bleeding all over the place, get the med kit dumbass!” and kenta realizes he wasn't kidnapped by some amateur bounty hunter. he was kidnapped by a fucking fan boy. on the bright side they do seem to be capable of basic wound care so there's that.

(yes, the trio is living their best mercenary vigilante life. kenta’s purge of tony happened right as kim was getting into the game and he went full “holy fucking shit, this man took down tony fucking chen and got away with it?” and basically became obsessed with the legendary lore of john wick kenta. so imagine how pumped he was when babe of all people introduced him to his ultimate murder crush goals)

kim: obviously you'll need to stay the night since you're so injured. You can have my room. i’ll just sleep with north and sonic.

kenta: …

sonic: you have a problem with three men sleeping together?

kenta: … no?

north: great! but if you hypothetically did you could ask kim to share with you instead because trust me, he's like super interes -

kim: shut up or i’ll evict you.

north: pls, whose day job is paying the bills here since you only take on charity cases?

kim: my name is on the lease! and i'm being a good person!

sonic: honey, you kill people.

this is where i got with my dream sequence but other things that just make sense in this verse:

the first person kim ever killed was winner. he was a toxic college hook up who kim dumped after few gos but who wouldn't take no for an answer. kim could have dealt with him being a dick on campus but then he started harassing kim’s dorm mates, north and sonic and kim just… snapped.

it all came to head on an alley behind a trashy gay bar. winner tried to grab sonic and kim honestly just meant to beat the shit out of him but went too far. when they read the news the next day it's weird. none of them regret it. they’re happy about it. and when no one knocks on their door to ask any questions, they realize how easy it actually is to get rid of a bad person.

the second person kim kills is a campus dirtbag who likes slipping shit into girls’ drinks and taking them home. they plan it all together but kim goes out alone and after… he's a mess. winner was a crime of passion in the heat of the moment but this is something different. he's all keyed up. he can't settle down and paces around their living room. a man is dead and he thinks he got off clean but only time will tell. he's nervous and elated and half-hard and full of adrenaline and it's sonic who nudges north and goes “look at the poor thing, we should take care of him.”

the night ends with kim’s head on sonic’s lap, sonic’s fingers in his hair, telling him he did well and he's so good when he cries as he's getting fucked into the mattress by north. kim wakes up sandwiched between them, in a mess of limbs. he has a very brief freak out about what the happened - the sex, not the murder - but north shushes him, telling him it’s not a big deal. “we love you, hyungie” sonic shrugs and pecks his cheek. “you two get some more rest and i’ll bring breakfast, okay?” and that's that.

needless to say kenta is in for a culture shock with the northsonickim arrangement. like he's taking a shower with kim and things are getting good when sonic barges into the bathroom, yanks the shower curtain back and goes on a rant of “kim, you gotta tell north to do the laundry because it was his turn but he forgot and now my favorite pants still have cum stains on them!” and kenta is like “um, excuse us?” but kim just rolls his eyes and proceeds to yell for north and then has an entire damn conversation with his dick out while kenta just stands there all 🧍‍♂️. (after he's done chewing north out for the laundry, he turns to sonic like “and you! we talked about this! kenta is new, we don't want to spook him!”)

the whole murder thing will be another conflict. kenta is happily retired. he killed because that's what he was raised to do and he didn't have any other options until he did. kim though? kim kills because he wants to. kim kills because he believes certain people deserve to die.

kim: i have a date with a wife beater at 2am. wanna come?

kenta: stop calling them dates. and you shouldn't be so… flippant about it.

kim, smirking while pulling on his leather gloves: don't tell me you never enjoyed it.

while kenta’s kills were always obvious hits, done using knives and guns, kim likes to deliver justice personally. he warms up using his hands and finishes the job with whatever blunt object he can pick up.

one time kenta’s boring office job takes him out of town for business and kim is climbing the walls. he calls kenta all “please quit and just become a hit man again, the pay is better and you'd be home when i need you” and kenta sighs because yes, his job is boring but he's trying his best to be normal and he has a morning meeting. so he tells kim to go occupy himself with north and sonic

kim: wait.. What?

kenta: don't you guys have sex with each other all the time?

kim: we did, BEFORE i met you

kenta: … huh. well. go fuck or get fucked or whatever before you start hunting pedestrians for stress relief.

kim: is this a trap?

kenta: no? i would never mess with whatever the three of you have.

Kim barging into north and sonic’s room, growling at them to take their clothes off and sonic’s first reaction is “oh shit, they broke up” but then kim’s like “dick first, rings second, i’m going to wife that man so hard he won't know what hit him” and everyone cheers and no one feels bad about having a pre-engagement celebration threesome not involving one of the grooms.

also, pete? did he step up after tony’s death? does he run a business like the continental? is way his weird attic wife that fucked himself over in the business and now can't step a foot outside the hotel without getting his brains blown out the less fun way? in any case he would have an eye on both kenta (because their whole… brotherhood) and kim (because kim is a wild card and truly independent and neither follows nor knows the code).

Her weapons, Ensanguined Emberblade is a legendary weapon that often hurt Naize if her strikes weren't finessed, the Arthurian Blade makes Naize a very reckless fighter on the field, sending her out to the field being a martyr due to her Semblance: Devour ever since witnessed a fellow Faunus by the name of Vinson Sable died under her leadership, despite him being a fellow Ensanguined like her, she vowed to always be stronger to prevent it happening ever again.

A well placed stake in her chest rendered her to slumber instead of death, reasons how she missed two centuries of knowing her parents' whereabouts in Marvel/DC universe.

Have been kissing Death at their door so many times as she can be a very reckless person once she knew her loved ones are involved, Death in Marvel has known Naize personally for that.

In BG3/DnD, Naize's weakness is only running water, reasons why she prefers flying or travelling as a dire wolf if on foot, she also find food tasteless to her, she only eats out of courtesy and having curiosity in the textures, do not ask her how the food taste, she probably will lie to you.

Naize is a copy of Ragna the Bloodedge, created by Edward Gallagher and Cassius Sedrinne, Edward gave Naize a purpose to stop Ragna in case he becomes out of control, Cassius on the other hand wanted to have Naize as a weapon to conquer the world, trying to betray Edward behind his back, essentially the two researchers killed one another with Cassius almost becoming another Arakune case; ended up getting killed by Naize when she found Edward murdered.

- Respecting Edward's final request to stay alive and keeping an eye on Ragna, she has been dutifully followed the orders and has been around to fish Ragna out of trouble.

- Reaching the events of Centralfiction, Naize decided to roam the world, still committing her promise with the late Edward. Feeling Ragna's disappearance, she decided to visit the grave where Noel erected in his name, letting Yukiryu to stand next to Aramasa, she bid to Ragna farewell before disappearing as her existence is no longer needed since Ragna, the original has ceased his function.

Naize is a well-known adventurer in all of Baldur's Gate and Sword Coast as Naize the Merc, a mercenary for hire depends on your morale and coin, however she doesn't usually charge you for the entire amount as she is a noble who lives rather humbly outside of the Gallagherian Castle.

- Birth: Edward is able to master the highest spell regarding necromancy and makes a deal with Asmodeus to help him and Eivana conceive a child as he had done a similar feat with late Claudia, making Asmodeus the godfather of Naize at a certain age in the future thus becoming her fount of power.

- Losing her right arm after being defeated by Cazador Szarr to save Astarion, Naize was healed and offered help by Asmodeus to increase her power so she can use her blade for good, thus Naize becomes Asmodeus' warlock and decided to train to become a better swordswoman, mostly training herself so she can defeat Cazador and setting the Szarr's spawns free, earning herself Ensanguined Emberblade which is her trademark weapon.

- Using her people's skills and being a charismatic dhampir, she later on (in BG3: was kidnapped by the mind flayers, in DnD: was kidnapped by the Cult of the Unbound) due to her connection as a mercenary + someone with a noble background and huge influence in Baldur's Gate.

- Nonetheless, Naize pushed through her demise and thrived to be a better protector of Baldur's Gate no matter her undead race traits. Naize has been traveling with a human cleric who is now her long time partner known by everyone as Ramiel Caldwell.

A dhampir living for 300+ years, Naize was found by a group of tomb raiders that broke into the Gallagherian Castle that is now abandoned after being ambushed by a group of religious crusaders. Naize was able to help her parents to safety, leaving her to fend the crusaders herself, overwhelmed; she managed to convince them to stake her instead, putting Naize to a two hundred years worth of slumber instead of killing her.

- Once awake in the modern era, Naize woke up once the raiders found her in her tomb, ended up killing them as she learned they had desecrated her place of rest. Asmodeus then appears, worried for his goddaughter after her demise with the crusaders, telling her what happened to her parents; confirmed to be alive still after she helped them.

- Now, being an ancient creature learns her way into the modern era, able to use her previous social skills and learning quips on the go. Once learning that the city has always been in danger night and day, Naize decided to use her elusive dhampiric talents to serve her own justice.

- Found by Blade in a misunderstanding, they clashed swords before he noted who she was; a dhampir that was before him told by Whistler and she has been staying with Blade ever since, joining him to hunt unruly vampires or usually went for a manhunt, feeding off unrepentants.

- Between the two, Naize mostly didn't mind helping other heroes out joining the Avengers, but would leave afterwards as she prefers her kind of vigilante which often grinds Steve's gears once in a while.

- Naize's role for now is being a dhampir that stood in between the line of where the supernatural and the mortal kind exist and always has been playing fair to kill the unruly and the unrepentant in Asmodeus' name.

- Naize has indeed many times eluded them as Bruce has often tried to include her into Justice League's activities, she accepted and often follows anyone that needed the supernatural assistance from her as her connection with Asmodeus helped her traverse anything regarding that topic.

The duchess of Gallione, Naize has grown to be a strong yet bitter woman as she had lost her partner, Ramiel Caldwell when he was involved in the slaying of the Behemoth.

- Living in Gallione and becoming its ruler and protector, Naize has always been on the frontlines with her fellow knights, creating few units to protect and serve the people of Gallione:

- Ever since the Gallagher family had learned of a certain demon named Sparda decided to rebel against the demonic brethren, Asmodeus had decreed that Naize should assist Sparda in closing the gates of Hell from Mundus bringing his army into the mortal world. Eva's relationship with Naize and the Gallaghers have been growing strong ever since.

- Once Mundus murdered Dante and Vergil's mother in the fire, Naize was able to scoop Eva's dying body in her arms, begging the mortal to stay alive and had pondered if she could revive Eva as a vampire but Eva refused as she wished to die peacefully but asked the dhampir to protect her sons in case there is danger that should befell them for being children of Sparda.

- Taking the oath, Naize has been playing guardian angel by hiding in Dante's shadows and often guiding him by alerting him to possible dangers and shows him where to go since Vergil has apparently been lost in the fire.

- Surprised to see Vergil opposing Dante made Naize feel guilty as she wasn't able to find Vergil and correct the blue son of Sparda in time thus she made her appearance to always prevent the two brothers from killing one another.

- Naize was missing in action during DMC4 as she went away after someone tried to bind Asmodeus back to Hell as he has been residing with Naize on mortal plane for far too long as the residents of Hell learned of Asmodeus' distaste against Mundus for what he did to Sparda.

- DMC5 rolls around and Naize had met Nero and Nico once she learnt what happened to Dante and Vergil, surprised that the team basically separated because of Urizen; Vergil's demon half. Naize mostly helped Nero when it comes to tougher enemies and was surprised to hear the truth of Nero's birth and origins, later on continue to tag along with Dante in his further adventures.

Backstory in Castlevania:

The first dhampir to be born somewhere in Wallachia, daughter of a known necromancer and a bard, Lord Edward Gallagher has been living in the shadows with his family, mostly away from any humans and vampires, Naize serves the family as their protector once she reaches a certain age that disallows her from growing older, unlocking her birthright pact with Asmodeus, a known prince of Hell that is responsible for her birth that came to fruition.

- A known dhampir in the vampire community, Naize is mostly close to Dracula, usually visiting his library to read books regarding spells and wonders of the world. She even liked Lisa's company once she heard that the human woman is smitten by Dracula and so did the other.

- Once Alucard was born, Naize was away until she returned to see Lisa and Alucard, surprised to know that Lisa gave birth to a child normally, unlike what Edward and Eivana went through to conceive her, nonetheless, she was happy to know and met Alucard.

- Naize again was away to do Asmodeus' bidding and that's when Lisa was taken away by the Church people, that's when she felt something was wrong and immediately returned to Targoviste. She wanted to save Lisa but stopped by her as she spotted Naize and Alucard stood very far from where she was burning. Naize in denial, wanting to save Lisa but once she heard Lisa's final speech, she knew she had to let Lisa go.

- Once confronting Dracula with Alucard by her side, she and Alucard tried to fight Dracula, telling him that Lisa wouldn't wish for him to become like this but ended the two dhampirs got themselves injured, Naize immediately gets Alucard to safety and decided to have him slumber as she learns of the strings of fate, one too has been assigned for Naize:

"The Gallagherian ally will arise when destiny soon sees their lights in three."

- Once putting Alucard to his hibernation, Naize has been away, honing her skills to be better, hoping her sword and set of skills to become a better shield for Alucard and his other two companions.

- As she realizes that Alucard has awakened from his beauty sleep, she immediately heads off to look for him, not realizing that Trevor has a different kind of welcoming Naize as they fight immediately, actually admiring Trevor for being able to find with finesse despite looking like a hooligan; she noted.

- Along the way, she enjoys Alucard and Sypha's company, mostly musing the young Speaker with any questions she wanted to ask Naize as Alucard is not much of a people's person.

- When Sypha was able to bring Dracula's castle to where they currently are, she also assisted the three to fight Dracula, trying to hide her pain for hurting someone she looked up to as a father figure. She even stood there and just looked at Dracula in the eyes when Alucard then delivered the final blow to his own father, cradling him in her arms as they both wept in understanding. She in her mind, asked herself if Lisa had been watching their progress from heaven, and wondered if she had fulfilled her promise to Lisa.

- Post ending, Naize decided to stay with Alucard, helping him to rebuild the castle and Trevor's estate, keeping them safe and sound from any dangers ahead.

- In Nocturne chapter however, Naize returned to Styria, mostly pretending to be under Carmilla's spell so she could help Hector and Isaac usurp the vampire that was responsible for Dracula's demise. Once Styria now gained its new rulers, Naize returned to Alucard once more.

Backstory in Dungeon Meshi:

Similar origins taken from BG3/DnD, Naize is raised to be kind to any mortal folk despite her half undead nature always threw people off at first glance. Dwelling in the underground level, Naize often joined groups or went on solo missions to take out harder monsters to ensure anyone's safety that decided to go further down the levels of the dungeons.

- Meeting Laios in the level where the Undine was spotted, Naize decided to help them as best as she could. Once Marcille sussed out who Naize was, she could only smile and nodded, explaining to the party that she meant them no harm or they wouldn't survive the Undine attack without her assistance.

- Naize was rather surprised about Senshi cooking the monsters' meat while she has been eating or drinking blood from the monsters which raises high concerns from Senshi, she was then treated to a properly cooked meal which made Naize grow curious with the group even more.

- The dhampir was about to leave them to themselves until she learnt of Laios' intention to look for Falin in the deeper depths of the dungeons, out of concern; Naize decided to stay with the party, mostly to keep them out of harm in case of Laios' shenanigans.

- Once finding Chimera Falin however made Naize feel disgusted that someone is able to change the innocents into a monster. Listening to Laios' request to not end Falin, she fought off Falin with her bare hands and even fought Kabru off when he decided to murder Falin while Naize knew the real Falin was still under a spell by the unknown elf.

- Once Falin fled however, Naize was rather determined to see things through with Falin as she made her decision to stay with Laios' group and has been their tank ever since.

Is Naize a preferred top or bottom?

She is a switch, depending on who the partner is.

What kind of jokes do Naize like?

She didn't mind any. If you get her to laugh, you score a point.

Does Naize consume blood?

She does. And usually it is either from her partners or the unruly or the unrepentant from Asmodeus' point of view. Naize would've drunk blood usually twice a week when the night comes.

Is Naize left handed or right handed? Ambidextrous?

She is ambidextrous. Losing a limb in Baldur's Gate teaches her to write with the left hand. In other series, she actually pranks people with this skill.

Is Naize able to have children?

Due to her half undead nature, she couldn't have children. If she is able to, I'm voiding the tiefling/devil children canon as WotC suggests that fact can be voided.

Does Naize have ranged weapons?

She does not. She prefers having a single weapon be it Yukiryu, Ensanguined Emberblade or Arthurian Blade. She would prefer her magic as a ranged arsenal as it is rather versatile and she can bend it anyway she wants. Her dhampiric abilities and traits are more than enough to cover the lack of ranged weapons. Yukiryu like explained about, if tapped into its true form right, Naize is able to conjure blades like Vergil from DMC does.

Favorite food, drinks?

She loves a medium rare steak and nice wine to go with. Although only in BG3/DnD, Naize is unable to taste them, but she loves the texture so much. In DunMeshi, she really liked the grilled Kelpie dish made by Senshi.

Favorite blood from partners or love interests?

[BG3/DnD] Naize will safely say that Ramiel's happened to be sweet yet rich in flavor, full bodied. She admitted to Asmodeus how she feels seduced by his blood.

[Marvel] Logan's her favorite as it gives her an adrenaline rush plus she fights better as it gives her a small boost.

[DC] Bruce's because she knew he always has been well nourished himself. Alfred took good care of this one. *chuckles*

[DMC] Dante. Since he is into that kind of stuff with Naize.

[Castlevania] Alucard's blood didn't feel tainted on her tongue oddly enough, perhaps because they both are dhampirs?

In his basic form, he has only one ability to become stronger if his opponent has done a lot of bad (according to his moral compass) things.

In an enhanced form, at first, he can conjure garlic bread, but after 8 minutes and if his opponent is bad enough, he can start doing other magic. He will also learn how to hit with holy damage!

Weapon:

He used to use a shovel as a weapon. But now, his shovel has been turned into a bisento, which can release liquid nitrogen from the blade under very high pressure

Description:

Mr. Zer0 is a man, 35 years old. He always wears a white suit, which consists of: boots, socks, jeans, shirt, jacket, belt, gloves and hat. His height is 193 centimeters, and his weight is 86 kilograms. Recently, he has enhanced his suit with angel wings, allowing him to use holy damage more effectively and launch a feather-shaped homing projectile. If he hits the target with his feather, he can teleport at will, at a distance of 1.27 meters from the target.

He is now the owner of a small organization consisting of 254 people, including himself. (If you have ideas for a name, please tell me). Recently, he has been chosen as the ruler of the city in which his base is located, namely Tanaba. The city has an area of 98 square kilometers and is located at an altitude of 1804 meters above sea level, in one of the mountain systems of the island wizards.

By the way, he is Kazakh by nationality.

The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002)

The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers is the definition of “epic”. The climax is on a scale so massive it’s legendary. You see it and cannot imagine how the series could top itself in the final chapter. It also contains great, quieter character moments, just enough comedy to give you the emotional breaks you need before the action kicks up again and some romance too. The special effects were spectacular for the time and hold up today. Yes, the extended edition is long - you basically have to dedicate an entire evening to it – but it never feels long. As soon as it's over, you'll debate whether you have time to sit down and watch the next chapter.

As Frodo Baggins (Elijah Wood) and Samwise Gamgee (Sean Astin) make their way toward Mordor to destroy the Ring of Power, they discover that its previous owner, the creature called Gollum (Andy Serkis) is following them. Though treacherous, Gollum may be the key to fulfilling their quest. Meanwhile, Aragorn (Viggo Mortensen), Legolas (Orlando Bloom) and Gimli (John Rhys-Davies) arrive in the kingdom of Rohan to find its King, Théoden (Bernard Hill), corrupted by the wizard Saruman (Christopher Lee). In the forest near Saruman’s tower, Merry (Dominic Monaghan) and Pippin (Billy Boyd) try to convince Treebeard (voiced by Rhys-Davies) to join the fight against him and his army of Uruk-Hai.

Before we dig in, let me clarify that we’re talking about the Extended Edition of the film, which is 45 minutes longer than the already lengthy 179-minute theatrical version. Yes, that’s a lot of time spent in Middle-Earth. No, it doesn’t feel like too much. The pacing is the key. We begin with one story, see how dire the situation is, get to a turning point and are then whisked away to the next plot, where the cycle repeats itself. As the middle chapter in a trilogy, this film is not contained, but it feels complete. There are character arcs, clear stakes, and a beginning, middle and end within each of the three stories and for the picture as a whole. Even more than before, the action feels like it’s happening in a real place. You can see the history of the fortress of Helm’s Deep, of the people of Rohan, the realms in faraway lands that are choosing to either ally themselves with the great, never-blinking eye of Sauron, or against him and his forces. In the sets, costumes and weapons, you notice details that show how much love and dedication was poured into this project. When there is comedy, it’s not the kind that undercuts the action, it’s the kind that makes what comes next feel even more dramatic, exciting or tragic.

Director Peter Jackson has a knack for raising the stakes. You know it’s only a matter of time before Gollum betrays Sam and Frodo. You think that’s all the hobbits have to worry about but then they meet the late Boromir’s brother, Faramir (David Wenham). You figure the journey Legolas, Aragorn and Gimli will make to the fortress at Helm’s Deep will be perilous, but then we see what’s brewing in Saruman's lair. The journey there is the least of their problems. There’s a glimmer of hope in the form of Merry, Pippin and Treebeard but the more we learn about tree-like Ents, the less you have faith in them. Those are all part of the big picture but within the individual characters, we have engaging stories too. In the kingdom of the elves, Arwen (Liv Tyler) is told by her father, Elrond (Hugo Weaving), that the elves are abandoning Middle-Earth, and that she would be foolish to stay, particularly for love. Frodo and Sam are at odds when it comes to Gollum, with Frodo sympathizing with the creature and Sam believing they’d be better off without him. In Gollum himself, there is conflict, as the creature’s twisted mind cannot decide whether it should act as a loyal guide to the hobbits or kill them in their sleep.

Whether swords are drawn or sheathed, you’ll be gripped by the picture but what you’ll probably remember best about “The Two Towers” are the big, special-effects-heavy scenes. Most memorable is Gollum, a character created entirely by motion capture. It’s common nowadays, but this is a rare example of a pioneered technique that still holds up. As soon as Gollum enters the frame, you just think of him as a character, never as a trick of the camera. You might even forget there was a person, not a creature on set. Equally capable of knocking you off your feet is the big battle at the end of the film. This gigantic siege, set at night, in the rain, is so well-lit and well-directed that you’re never lost or disoriented. It feels like everything's been building up to this and in some ways it is, but in others, it hasn't. There's still more to come in The Return of the King.

Like its predecessor, The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers is a significant achievement in filmmaking. The performances are excellent, the production on a scale we seldom see, the story and plot make you forget there’s a world outside of the movie itself. The only flaw in is that you can't sit down and watch this movie on its own, but it was never meant to be seen that way. (Extended Edition on Blu-ray, April 27, 2023)

Have you ever thought of doing an ep on magic weapons or is that too broad of a topic? Magic or legendary weapons are common in ttrpg's but most of the time its 1 or 2 special weapon per story so I can see that being difficult

That’s actually a pretty good idea. It would involve a not-insignificant amount of research, though.

Magic weapons are common in TTRPGs and modern fantasy literature because they’re cool, but you see less of them in medieval literature than you’d expect. So a lot of the research would just be tracking down a large enough sample size for us to draw actual conclusions.

Off the top of my head, the majority of the ones I can think of are Arthurian, and some of those are more “holy relic that happens to also be a weapon” — e.g., Perlesvaus features the sword that beheaded John the Baptist, and the Fisher King’s court includes the Lance of Longinus as part of their whole Grail procession. The only non-Arthurian example I can remember at the moment is Skofnung from the Icelandic sagas… though I’m sure there are more that I can’t think of right now because I’m drafting this as 8:30am and I’m not fully awake yet.

I’ll put it on the list. Sounds like a good idea. (Also gonna see if Zoe has anything to add here before I post this.) ----

Zoe's Addition - (hi all, really need to learn this tumblr thing rather than lurking and reposting all your beautiful Pentiment fanart) The other aspect of medieval "magic items" that makes them difficult is that they're really just mentioned "off-handedly”. Really, to a lot of late medieval authors, magic items are just plot devices to get the heroes on their way. You may get one line about a magic stone which healed Torbin the Heavy-handed, but that's it. Where did the stone come from? Where did it go? O Great Mage Cotten-Eye'd Joe, tell us more!

Believe us, we've hunted for a LOT of magic items, and some have great lore (see the magic ring Loki stole from Ottr). Others, not so much (the Lance of Longinus). However, I did have a "magic items" section in my dissertation, so... perhaps I'll pull that out and cover the nature of magic items in medieval stories, if that's of interest. The nature of such items is more interesting (to me) because they do have a seemingly consistent nature across medieval lit.

Like, is anyone really surprised?   My former colleagues were more mad that Boyd couldn’t be assed to make his own fake Twitter account but had to tell an underling to do it.  But I was, come on, most companies have a staffer or two doing sneaky social media things like this, pushing their narrative.  Hello, ever been on the Apple TV online discourse?  Apple has some good shows, but online discourse would make you think that they were already way out ahead of golden era HBO.   No doubt there are some dedicated Apple fans, but I find it hard to believe that level of devotion was natural.  And you know Amazon Prime does this, as they're the most desperate to have a cultural impactful show.

Why this was news is because Bloys isn’t some newly jumped-up exec or business major in tv flailing with failing products. He’s a veteran producer who’s been extremely successful at HBO for a decade plus. Why is he so thin skinned and defensive? Why does he care so much when he’s been so successful?  While his excuse-explanation is having too much time on his hand during Covid sounds eye rolling, there is a grain of truth.  Remember when I said here and here that what previously didn't bother executives were bothering them during the pandemic lockdown.  It was why Misha suddenly scrambled to say (unprompted) three times that he and Jared got along and it was the fault of J2 fans for tainting his reputation, not because of his army of minions who lost what's left of their singe braincell over not getting canon-Destiel like he ambiguously promised for over a decade.

An assistant named Sully Temori, who is now suing HBO for wrongful termination, was given the task in June 2020 to write responses troll with  X account of Kelly Shepherd, a so-called mom and herbalist from Texas with 4 followers.  The troll targeted critics for being a middle aged white man who was “shitting on a show about women” i.e. The Nevers. Gee, those words sound familiar, right?  It's 80% of what SJW say online whenever they come across something they don't like and can't handle different opinions.

HBO is best TV brand with the most number of Emmy wins (just ignore that HBO has the most number of members in the TV academy).  So like in the article, people were surprised that a successful veteran executive would do this.  Except you see it all the time: celebrities, accomplished directors, and athletes going nuts on twitter replying to random accounts with 8 followers, "No @BigDickTerry6969, You're the one who SUCKS!!!".

One of my nieces is in the industry and doing well enough that she said if she ever gets famous enough, she will use some of the money to put guardrails in place to keep her from googling herself or reading twitter threads about her.  She also wants me to act like an addiction-recovery sponsor that she can call in the middle of the night with, "We just dropped a new episode and I really just want to know what people think, that's fine right? I just want honest feedback.".  And I will be, "No, you don't, you have to resist that urge. I want you to go outside and look stars, okay?"

Honestly, reading about Boyd's antics was like reading John Grisham's The Pelican Brief and The Firm and getting to the Big Bad reveal and end up having Big Disappointment staring back at you. Tom Cruise at least improved the movie adaptation of The Firm.

Happy 1 year anniversary to Gungrave G.O.R.E!

A lot of you are probably scratching your heads right now wondering what the hell this is. Well, let's just say that an obscure PS2 series made its return after almost 20 years of inactivity. And Gungrave G.O.R.E feels like it picks up right after 2004's Gungrave Overdose in all but graphics.

To briefly provide some context, Gungrave is a series of third-person shooter games and is the brainchild of Red Entertainment and Yasuhiro Nightow, creator of Trigun. The player assumes control of Beyond The Grave (Grave, for short), a corpse who has been resurrected to enact his revenge on the organization that had him killed and to destroy the drug that made all of this possible, Seed. Equipped with two hand cannons named Cerberus and a transforming coffin-shaped weapon named Death Hauler, the player engages in stylish gunplay inspired by the films of directors John Woo and Robert Rodriguez, with Grave himself bearing resemblance to Antonio Banderas's character El Mariachi from Desperado.

Despite the game seemingly being made on a rather small budget, Gungrave G.O.R.E features an alumni of legendary game producers, with Yasuhiro Nightow (Trigun) returning as image director, Ikumi Nakamura (Ghost of Tsushima) creating many of the character designs, Tetsuya Shibata (Devil May Cry) and Yoshino Aoki (Mega Man Battle Network) composing much of the soundtrack, and select cutscenes being animated by Digic Pictures (Assassin's Creed).

Gungrave G.O.R.E has had a rather unique development, being a console game developed by a South Korean studio, Iggymob. I encourage you to check out this video by Blue that goes a little bit into how Gungrave G.O.R.E came to be and why the fact that this is a Korean console game is more interesting than it may seem. They've included their sources in the description for further reading.

Looking at what director Kay Kim has had to say about Gungrave G.O.R.E's development, you can tell this was a game developed by the fans for the fans. When Gungrave G.O.R.E was first announced, it was slated to be an open-world game similar to Dark Souls. Later, taking influence from the likes of Metal Gear Rising, Bayonetta, and Devil May Cry, it was decided that the game would revert to its original linear mission-based structure. Kim has gone on record to say that the original open-world version of the game was "terrible" and expressed concern that this isn't what a Gungrave fan who has been waiting 20 years for another installment would want to play.

This is not something that a greedy businessman who bought the rights to a long-gone game series to cash in on nostalgia would ever care about. Gungrave G.O.R.E, whether it's a good game or a bad game, is a passion project before anything else. When this game first released last year, it was rough and naturally received patches over time. And these patches universally only heavily improved the game, such as making Grave's moveset more versatile, making the controls more accessible, and heavily altering levels to the point where some sections such as those that required Grave to platform were simply removed.

The game is in odd state at the moment. The original release on consoles and PC were published by Prime Matter, and earlier this year they released Gungrave G.O.R.E: Ultimate Enhanced Edition on the Nintendo Switch, which includes "over 100 changes" to the game including further improvements to the game's controls, further alterations to level design, new mechanics, and extra playable characters such as Gungrave Overdose's Rocketbilly Redcadillac, and Harry MacDowell. This is odd because not only are these magnitude of changes exclusive to U.E.E, which is only on Switch, Iggymob self-published this release.

I don't know what the future has in store for Gungrave or Studio Iggymob, but let us take today and every day after to celebrate that Gungrave G.O.R.E even happened because of them. Thank you for being the reason my new favorite game series made such a kick-ass return, and godspeed on future endeavors.
