F.A.R.T.: The Movie (1991)
My rating: 6/10
I mean, can't really fault it for being exactly what it says on the tin: just an endless cavalcade of bad puns and immature humor, usually relating to flatulence in some way. Of course I kind of enjoyed it, though I have to say, the way a lot of it appears to have been shot at someone's (probably the director's) absurd McMansion, complete with pinball room, is really rather DeCoteau-esque.

EMERGENCY TAG TEAM MATCH
Per the results of my previous poll, for the Women’s Championship title match between Nami (One Piece) and Ellie Williams (The Last of Us), everyone will be banned from ringside. The Straw Hats will not be allowed to accompany Nami to the ring. Joel Miller will not be allowed to accompany Ellie to the ring.
Due to this, Nami is now nervous going into her match. Not because of a lack of confidence, but because the Straw Hats have always accompanied her to the ring.
(Cut to the backstage area. Nami is with Nico Robin. She is holding the Women’s Championship in one hand, but looks nervous)
Nico Robin: You’re going to do fine. You beat Ellie before, you can do it again. Don’t tell me you’re scared of her.
Nami: I’m not scared! It’s just…this is getting too deep. Did you see Ellie’s face when we were in the ring? She REALLY hates me right now. I just feel like she’s making this more personal than it needs to be, okay! I don’t hate her, it’s just that all of us want to be champion. That’s all!
Nico Robin: Well, you DID take the championship from her. Even if it’s not personal, it’s not hard to figure out why she hates your guts. Imagine if the roles were reverse-
(Nami and Nico are interrupted by Monkey D. Luffy. The Monday Night Fresh crowd can be heard cheering as Luffy steps into frame)
Monkey D. Luffy: Nami, Nico! I need your help! You remember those RWBY girls?
Nami: Those irrelevant weirdos? What about them?
Monkey D. Luffy: Whoa, harsh. Anyways, the blonde one, Yang, left the group! And she’s calling the entire Women’s Division out!
(Nami and Nico look unimpressed)
Nami: That happens like…every week. We all do that to each other.
Monkey D. Luffy: But get this! Yang is now fighting her former teammate, Weiss! Weiss is the white one-
Nami: -I know who Weiss is, just get to the point.
Monkey D. Luffy: It’s supposed to be a six-person tag match but they don’t have the numbers. Ruby is busy doing something and Blake is MIA. So they were wondering if anyone would like to join their team.
Nami and Nico: …

Otra favorita, "Out in the Streets", su quinto single para Red Bird, sello del "extraño" Shadow Morton.

The violence against Israeli soccer fans in Amsterdam last week was a premeditated and coordinated attack orchestrated with extremist networks linked to a former employee of the controversial United Nations agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA), a group tracking online disinformation told The Algemeiner on Monday.
The Network Contagion Research Institute’s analysis of open-source intelligence and social media also “revealed that protests around the Maccabi Tel Aviv game in Amsterdam was not isolated but part of a broader, coordinated effort,” said the group’s co-founder, Joel Finkelstein.
Amsterdam resident Ayman Nejmeh, who identified himself on social media as a former UNRWA employee, “has emerged as a key organizer, coordinating protest actions against Jewish targets,” Finkelstein added.
Hundreds of Maccabi Tel Aviv soccer fans, who were visiting the Dutch capital for a game against the local Ajax team, were attacked by Arab and Muslim mobs on Thursday night, landing several in the hospital. It marked the largest mass-scale antisemitic incident in the Netherlands since the Holocaust, with attackers throwing firecrackers and stun grenades, calling for a “Jew hunt,” and forcing Israelis to say “Free Palestine” before beating them up.
Earlier, Maccabi Tel Aviv fans were recorded chanting anti-Arab slogans and removing a Palestinian flag, prompting some news outlets to frame the ensuing violence as a response. But Israel had issued a warning to Dutch security services ahead of the game that violence was likely to unfold after Islamic groups appeared to be coordinating a multifront attack on social media.
According to Finkelstein, the phone number of the Syrian-born Nejmeh was listed as an admin for one WhatsApp group utilized by the Palestinian diaspora group, PGNL. Nejmeh took over the group from Palestinian-Dutch national Amin Abou Rashed, who was arrested last year on suspicion of funneling funds to the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas.
PGNL had in the past hosted the late Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh, who was killed in Tehran earlier this year, in an online event. The group, whose name in Dutch stands for the “Palestinian Community in the Netherlands,” was also involved in organizing an anti-Israel protest in Dam Square on Sunday, defying a temporary ban imposed after Thursday night’s violence and resulting in dozens of arrests.
The Network Contagion Research Institute (NCRI), whose research spans issues from social media bans to online antisemitism, has collaborated with legislative bodies, including the British government and US Congress, on content moderation and combating hate-based misinformation. The group said that its own findings aligned with that of the European Leadership Network, pointing to a transnational network that is actively stoking anti-Jewish sentiments.

warning for tlou ep 4 spoilers (and TLOU Part 2) but:
not to be horribly meta on main but I'm mainly screaming over how this episode exemplified how well this story was adapted to a television format, ESPECIALLY regarding the themes that ND has repeatedly stated he wanted to explore in the TLOU Part 2 that maybe didn't quite land the way he meant them to
(Benioff and Weiss and their hatred for eighth grade book reports should be taking copious notes rn lol)
I remember when the second game came out and there was this big to-do about how the perspective towards "villains" had changed - not just in the fact that you spend half the game playing as Abby (Joel's killer), but that the developers had actually given names to all the NPCs that end up as cannon fodder for the player. The AI was supposed to be so advanced that for every enemy you killed as either Abby or Ellie, the NPC would beg for their life or curse you as you make the final blow or whatever, and then when their NPC friends found them you would hear their wailing and crying out for "Beck" or "Miranda" or whomever the fuck and the whole idea was that it was supposed to make you the player really think about the implications of taking a human life and the cycle of revenge yadda yadda yadda.
Which is a GREAT CONCEPT, but I just remember how...tedious it became, after a while. TLOU Part 2 got a lot of flak for a lot of reasons (some more valid than others imo) but I personally think its impossibly difficult to instill the lesson of "taking a life is something that carries real emotional weight" through the medium of a video game where you are mowing down LITERALLY HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE. That's just par for the course - you end up killing so many people that after a while their names mean nothing, BECAUSE THERE'S NO WAY TO CONTINUE THE GAME WITHOUT DOING SO. (I remember one reviewer talking about how fatigued they were with it - they didn't want to be killing all these people and stabbing dogs and they as a player were screaming through their fingers at the decisions Ellie was making to continue down this cycle of violence but there was no way to continue the game without going through it, even though the point had already been hammered home over and over again to the point where it was exhausting, we get it, killing should not be this easy but this is a video game for fuck's sake).
And maybe that was also the point was to make the player wonder how some characters (like Joel, maybe) eventually become so numb to the concept of taking life, but I just remember it being a point in Part 2 that ultimately just...kind of missed the mark.
And BOY OH BOY did the show hit it in this episode.
Literally, TLOU Part 2 wanted to make its point by naming hundreds upon hundreds of NPCs and TLOU Episode 4 managed to hit it with a single character named Bryan.
I think it also helps that when Joel is shooting back at the "hunters" (idk what they're calling them in the show canon but that's what they were at the game) we don't really see them die onscreen, so it makes Bryan's eventual demise even starker. But holy fuck hearing him plead with Ellie and Joel for his life hit so much harder than it ever did in the game. Hearing him try to bargain with a little girl, screaming for his mom only to go silent...I freaking love Joel and even then in that moment I felt that horror and slight...idek what to call it, not even disgust but just the moral grayness of it all made my stomach churn.
Ellie's tears felt so deserved in that moment. Even Joel's moment of hesitation (fuck you Pedro Pascal I hate how good you are at EVERYTHING) even as you know this must have been a thing he's done thousands of times before and even as necessary you might consider Bryan's death to be. Even as justified it may have been to kill an enemy in that moment, "It doesn't get any easier" is something that rings true. I believe it.
tldr; another banger episode from a team that knows what the fuck a theme is and how to tie that into your story with subtlety and nuance and FUCK EVERYONE AT NAUGHTY DOG AND HBO I CAN'T KEEP GETTING MY HEART BROKEN FOR ANOTHER MONTH AND A HALF

Hii hope ya don’t mind but do you guys have any info on understudies/alternate casts in Rag Dolly?
we do!
each production of the show had slightly different casts, as some ensemble and minor characters were replaced between productions, but most of the major characters stayed the same! Ann, Andy, Baby, Camel, and Mommy/Witch were the same actors through every production (Ivy Austin, Scott Schafer, Carolyn Marble, Joel Aroeste, and Elizabeth Austin respectively). once the show was broadway-bound, about half the cast was replaced, likely because many of the actors in the original ESIPA productions were resident actors at ESIPA.
here's a history of the recasts of the major characters!
Marcella: Tricia Brooks (ESIPA 1984/85, Moscow 1986) -> Lisa Reiffel (Kennedy Center/Broadway 1986) (Tricia had aged out of the role, as she was 15 turning 16 in 1986. Lisa was 13 when she took on the role, just as Tricia had been when she first played the role in 1984) Poppa: MacIntyre Dixon (ESIPA 1984) -> Gibby Brand (ESIPA 1985, Moscow 1986) -> Bob Morrisey (Kennedy Center/Broadway 1986) Panda: Jeanne Vigliante (ESIPA 1984/85, Moscow 1986) -> Michelan Sisti (Kennedy Center/Broadway 1986) General D: Paul Haggard (ESIPA 1984) -> David Schramm (ESIPA 1985, Moscow 1986) -> Leo Burmester (Kennedy Center/Broadway 1986) (Paul Haggard was battling cancer when he played General D, and unfortunately passed away less than 2 years after the 1984 ESIPA run) Bat: Pamela Sousa (ESIPA 1984/85, Moscow 1986) -> Gail Benedict (Kennedy Center/Broadway 1986) Wolf: Tom Pletto (ESIPA 1984/85, Moscow 1986) -> Gordon Weiss (Kennedy Center/Broadway 1986)
there was also a version of the show that was staged in 1983 that had a completely different script written by a different playwright and different songs by Joe Raposo (basically a completely different show). we don't have a full cast list, but we do know that Ivy Austin still played Ann, and Mark Baker (yes the Mark Baker from the movie) played Andy, with Scott Schafer as his understudy.
for the broadway production, the understudies are listed in the playbill (which is available online), and we have a scans of the kennedy center and moscow programs in our archives! the understudies are the same for broadway and kennedy center.
i'll put the lists under a cut, but most of the understudies are raggettes/ensemble.
the only one that i'd like to draw attention to is Gordon Weiss, who played Wolf, as he was the understudy for General D during the kennedy center and broadway runs. looking at Gordon's resume, it makes sense-- he's basically a professional understudy! but within the context of the show it makes a bit less sense lol. if Leo Burmester were to be out for a show, Gordon would be bumped up to General D, Joe Barrett would go on as Wolf, and Steve Owsley would leave the ensemble to take Joe's place as a doctor. there would be a lot less shuffling around of actors if General D's understudy were one of the doctors like previous productions.
Gordon would also be bit silly visually as General D because he is quite small. All of the General Ds were very tall, each over six feet. Gordon Weiss is not. in photos you can see Gordon only comes up to Leo's shoulder!
as far as we know, from our research and interviews with cast, none of the understudies ever had to go on.
- mod wowf 🐾
Kennedy Center and Broadway (1986)
Joe Barrett - Wolf Kenneth Boys - Andy, Panda, Swing Melinda Buckley - Bat Sara Carbone - Marcella Dick Decareau - Poppa Anny De Gange - Mommy/Witch Susann Fletcher - Raggedy Ann Steve Owsley - Doctors Richard Ryder - Camel Gordon Weiss - General D Andrea Wright - Baby Helena Andreyko - Swing
Moscow (1986)
Nina Hennessey - Marcella, Mommy/Witch Joe Barrett - Poppa, Camel Scott Evans - Andy, Panda Neal Ben-Ari - General D Michaela Hughes - Bat David Bunce - Wolf

YOU🫵 do you have any potential voice claims for any of your ocs? I've been thinking about voices for WH characters again, and it's evolved to include ocs. (But I'd also like to know about your other ocs too)
Ooooo I’ve thought of some voice claims for them !!! but some are not set in stone:
Dolan is kinda hard to pin down atm cuz nothing fits lol. the only way I can describe it is that he sounds like any dude protagonist however he has this lisp (he speaks Spanish). The closest I’ve gotten is miles but like,, ig older LMAO
For Kiki, I’ve imagined Qwydion from Dragon Age Absolution. Just overall a big sister, silly, headstrong type beat :)) she was more easier to imagine
For Wren, it’s all over the place lol. Since she’s a spellsinger, her range can vary. I’ve always imagined her normal voice is April from parks and rec. I’ve always imagined her to sound sorta like how hiro talks but instead of saying nothing (like him), she says a lot. But her input and opinions are so,,, off putting. So basically monotonous, sorta deep and talks a lot of,,, shit to say it simply LMAO
For her singing voice, her melodic singing is not,,, bad. It’s just that the magic doesn’t do its job when she does melodic singing like say how Joel does it. So she sings fairly good. I’d headcanon Casey lee williams when she sings for Weiss Schnee in RWBY basically.
As for her rock singing, her voice,,, kinda sounds like a guy ig?? Not all the time but like for some reason she sounds like Kellin Quinn in my head??? Her voice could go as deep as a female’s goes but can go as high as a male does?? Idk it’s hard to explain—
Also spoiler alert, the fourth wh oc I headcanonned her voice to be is Lin from spirited away (both dubs I suppose idk) :))
Also idk what u mean by other ocs I have, I’m assuming it’s ocs that are not wh related but I’ll shut myself up before I get sidetracked and start rambling again—

What directors do you have a good enough handle on that you can imagine how they would handle Worm?
I'm flattered that you think I'm worth asking that kind of question, but I'm not really a film guy. The reason I have such strong opinions about Snyder is because I saw what other people saw about his filmography, thought back to the Snyder films I'd seen, and went "That tracks". (I structured my argument as basically "Here's a summary of what this person explained about Snyder, here's how it applies to Worm".) And Snyder is pretty much the exact right kind of director to maximize the number of YouTube videos about him that I'd want to watch.
I don't know nothing about other directors, but I don't know much about them. I don't think I can say much about Michael Bay's Worm that you can't think of, nor Joel Schumacher's, not Benioff/Weiss's (assuming you know they're the Game of Thrones guys).
Guillermo del Toro could probably do a pretty good adaptation. He's good at understanding monsters and making the audience understand them, he seems good at nuance. He's done spectacle-heavy action films and more thoughtful ones. Someone who knows Hellboy could probably judge whether he's good at faithful adaptations.
