A few months after watching Before Sunrise, I've finally watched Before Sunset...
Oh, that was different from Sunrise. Sunrise was about a potential for something more, the beginning of something beautiful, a moment suspended in time. Most of the emotion I remember feeling when I watched it were hope, a sense of wonder, discovery.
Sunset is maturity, it's about looking back and all the "what-ifs" and the missed moments, reconnecting and remembering a part of yourself you thought had gone, had even never existed. It's bittersweet, and as I am sitting here with the echoes of Nina Simone's voice in my ears, I am feeling heartbroken.
Because they love each other!! And they thought the love wasn't real, that love wasn't for them!! And they stopped looking at the beauty and the wonder in life and agreed to stop living in the dream and step up in "real life" expectations, even though it hurts!! But when they see each other again, it could have been nine years, 9 months or 9 decades, the love is still here, the love is even bigger and deeper, because they have seen life on their own and they feel like what they have together in this one night, this one hour, is clearer, purer, grander than what they've had for people during months, years...
At some points, Céline talks about destiny, and that some things are set in stones and cannot be changed. I feel like... Like they have been two stones carried away by the stream of a violent river, but now the river has calmed, it's smooth and peaceful, and the quiet stream is bringing the stones back together, where they first started, but more polished, a bit roughed up by the currents but made all the more beautiful by the roughness.
A part of me wants to watch Before Midnight now, but the bigger part wants to wait another four months, to be someone else when I sit down in front of Midnight like the me that watched Sunset tonight is a different person from the me that watched Sunrise. I feel like that's the only right way to watch these films, with a certain period of time in between, because that's what the story is about in the end, the passage of time and how it cannot erase "true" love, love that's meant to be and meant to be fought for and cared for.
Aaah, these films are making me crazy. That was one hour and twenty minutes of two characters talking while walking in the streets of Paris, just that, talking and walking, and isn't that wonderful? Talking and walking, laughing and joking, deep meaningful conversations and silly nonsensical banter. Isn't that what all life should be about?

Rank every Herondale?
👁️👅👁️ don’t cook me for this, also I’m just kind of including relevant Herondales!!!!
1. Will
2. Kit
3. Jace
4. Cecily
5. James
6. Lucie
*massive gap*
7. Stephen
I don’t think this is a very unpopular rating, tbh. I actually wish we had more prevalent female Herondales, I hate how Cassie made it so female Herondales don’t get the birthmark, so stupid to me.
And just for funsies here’s me rating there spouses / love interests :
1. Tessa Gray
2. Clary Fairchild
3. Ty Blackthorn
4. Gabriel Lightwood (UNDERRATED.)
5. Amatis GrayMark / Cordelia Carstairs
6. Céline Montclaire
7. Jesse Blackthorn

Okay, you know what I think? Shadowhunters urgently need a Child Protective Services or something like that. I realize, of course, that the race of halfangels-demonkillers too cool to take care of their offspring normally, but I'm sick of it and it's really a huge problem that their society doesn't care about children at all.
If they had CPS or at least a culture of caring for children, no one would allow Tatiana, a known crazy woman, to raise Jesse. Like, what the hell, who let a crazy woman who is known for her antinephilim views to raise a child, especially since this child has two uncles with excellent reputations, one of whom could take him in. Didn't anyone want to check the conditions Jesse was living in? If anyone had, he wouldn't have died. And if they had CPS in the world, no one would have even given Tatiana the option of choosing orphans, much less adopting (buying, even better) Grace. None of this bullshit would have happened.
And what about Céline Montclair, for example? Why the fuck would a kid be allowed to literally live in Shadow Market? Why the fuck the Institute refused to shelter her?? WHY THE FUCK SHE WAS RETURNED TO HER PARENTS, WHO HAD BEATEN HER??? So no one asked her why she ran away? Nobody thought "hmmm, why did this little girl run away from her parents? A child doesn't just do something like that, it means there's something wrong in her family"? They just returned her to her parents... No proceedings... just...
And let's remember that after the Dark War there were a lot of orphans left behind. One of them was adopted by Magnus and Alec, but there are hundreds, maybe thousands, of people like Rafael all over the world. Children who live homeless in the Shadow Markets or with questionable people like Tatiana.
I understand that Alec and the rest of Clave-in-Exile don't have time for them yet. The issue of the Cohort is more acute now. However, soon these children will grow up. And that will be a huge problem. It will be a lost generation that does not have any good education or upbringing, but has a very great sense of grievance against the Clave who abandoned them after the war.
It seems to me that the war was the last straw in this whole centuries-old problem and it is now a matter of life and death for the system to solve it.
Obviously, there's nothing they can do about it in TWP. I hope that Alec, because of Rafael and Max he is closer to this situation, will think about it and take steps to solve this problem. Or someone after him.

MADDIE TELL ME ABOUT THE GILMORE GIRL RAISED BY RICHARD AND EMILY PLS I FORGOT HER NAME 😭
THATS MY GIRL THATS MY GIRL (there's also an AU with my most precious Gilmore Girl, Kirsty, being raised by Richard & Emily, but the main one is Dani)
Her name is Dani Gilmore (Daniella Céline Gilmore-Danes)
Basically, she’s Luke and Lorelai’s daughter and Rory’s older sister, but she doesn’t know it! So I have Luke and Lorelai meeting in passing when Lorelai is 15/16 (there's a reference that they went to the same beach when they were younger but at different times), they hook up, Lorelai gets pregnant, she has no way of contacting Luke, and Emily convinces her that she’s not ready to raise a child so Emily and Richard raise her as their own
A few months later, Lorelai is pregnant with Rory and decides that this time she is going to keep her, so she has Rory and moves to Stars Hollow and meets Luke a few years later and goes oh shit
But she doesn’t tell him about Dani, and Dani still thinks that Emily and Richard are her parents (and extremely controlling/manipulative parents at that) right up until she goes to Rory’s stars hollow birthday party and crashes straight into Luke when he arrives with the ice!
They spend that season getting to know each other and figuring out how to coexist, Dani absolutely adores him, and Luke has no idea how to act with a daughter but is trying his best
After Bracebridge she starts to move in with Luke. It’s sort of a combination of things tbh — the Emily and Richard fighting, the way all of the Gilmores still refuse to actually talk about the fact that she’s Lorelai’s daughter, and getting to know Jess! She really feels for him and she wants to get to be part of his and Luke’s life and she’s so happy talking to the two of them all night, but she’s still hesitating but then as they’re leaving, she and Emily get into a fight and Emily says something about “go wait with your father!” clearly meaning Richard and Dani just sort of stops, stares at her, and goes “okay”, before going to Luke and saying “hey, could I maybe stay with you guys tonight?” and Luke tells her that she can stay as long as she’d like! She also adores Rory but things are always a bit weird between them because of Lorelai and how weird Lorelai is about Dani in general
Dani is frequently described as too charming for her own good, she's very close friends with Logan even before Yale but they get closer when she joins him at Yale and joins the Life And Death Brigade, and he is probably/tentatively her endgame ship. She studies business at Yale and absolutely adores fashion, hopes to combine those in some way but isn't 100% sure what she wants to do with it yet
#ask#answered#sergeantpixie#dani gilmore danes#about dani#(i should change her tag to dani rip)#(also besties this is my basically big sister she's the best and supports my oc nonsense)#(one time we were watching in the heights and she let me show her like a million edits that i was working on in a row)

Before Sunrise || 1995 || Directed by Richard Linklater
"Before Sunrise" (1995) is a captivating and introspective romance film that effortlessly captures the magic of chance encounters and fleeting connections. Directed by Richard Linklater, the movie follows Jesse (Ethan Hawke) and Céline (Julie Delpy), two young travellers who meet on a train to Vienna and decide to spend a single night together exploring the city before parting ways. What unfolds is a mesmerizing dialogue-driven journey as the two strangers share their dreams, fears, and philosophies, gradually falling in love over the course of their time together. The film's strength lies in its authentic and naturalistic performances, creating a genuine sense of intimacy and emotional resonance. Linklater's skilful direction and beautifully crafted screenplay deliver a profound exploration of love, life, and human connection that lingers long after the credits roll. "Before Sunrise" is a timeless and poetic ode to the fleeting moments that shape our lives.
