"Behold: Dover. Capital of Delaware," said Jasper. Its domes and minarets lay before them, glowing gold in the sunlight amid the hanging gardens, the pleasant palaces, the spired roofs of ancient temples; in the harbor, the purple-sailed ships of Wilmington plied the waves, and the dragon-headed prows of the barbarian kingdoms to the south dipped their oars in wrinkled waters while plesiosaurs turned capers at their sides. The Zeppelin-Lords of frosty Elsmere drifted above the city, their balloons gilded with the tropical sun, eating sherbet on their porphyry verandas. Huge tortoises fifteen feet across lumbered through the widest avenues, carrying nomads' tents upon their backs. Processions wandering through the streets glittered with gold and ancient costumery. But everything was not beautiful: Katie and Lily saw also the huge cement housing blocks looking burnt and desolate, where the hapless citizens lived in fear of their ruler. They saw the brown rivers, the broken factories, the Autarch's armies drilling on a baseball field. They saw the lovely and the awful, the jeweled and the broken, the noble and the sad. In short, they saw Dover.

Doll?
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x Reader
Words: 1,632
Warning: angst, mild swearing, actions of abusive drunk
Author Note: B/D = The day of your birth and B/M = The month of your birth
You were born on B/D B/M, 1918. You had a family, well at least till your mom married a drunk who had a lot of cash. He would beat your mom till she cant move and then beat you too. Your mom wanted him to stay so badly cause she wanted the stay at home mom life and never work a day of her life, even if that means getting rid of you.
One night he came home from “a business trip” drunk; he went straight to the bedroom where your mom was. After ten or fifteen minutes you here a loud bang against your wall. You ran into the bedroom and seen your step father choking your mother. You grabbed a lamp and smash it over his head. He dropped to the ground and your mom dropped to her knees. Once she caught her breath she went over to him and cried; trying to wake him. You can’t believe after him almost killing her, she still wanted to be with him. That when you knew you were about to die.
When he woke up he grabbed you by your hair and through you in the car. Your mom didn't stop him. All she said as you were screaming for your life was “You shouldnt have angered you father. You were disrespectful. He does so much for me.”
He drove to a random alley in Queens, then parks. He yanks you by your throat and through you in a pile of cinder blocks causing you to pass out. You were only seven years old. When you woke up he was gone. You sat there and cried.
Two years later in the beginning of winter, your legs was the only thing visible when you were in a trash can trying digging though looking for food to eat or maybe some clothes. You were so hungry and so cold. All of a sudden load bang went though the trash can. You quickly got out. You looked around and found a ball on the ground. When you picked it up you heard two pairs foot steps. You looked up and seen two boys and froze when they seen you. The first one was really short, skinny, looked like death with blonde hair with the blue-green eyes. The second was taller than you and had dark brown hair and the bluest eyes you have ever seen. You dropped the ball and hid under some trash. The second boy ran after you.
“Hey we dont want to hurt you.” He said. You looked up at him and he sat next to you. “Are you hungry? We were on our way home to eat dinner, I’m sure my mom won’t mind you staying.”
“But you don’t even know my name.” You said looking at your feet.
“My name is James Barnes, but my friends call my Bucky,” He then points at his friend. “ and that punk over there is Steve Rogers. Now that you know our names. What’s yours?”
“Y/N. Y/N L/N.” You said. He sticks his hand out and shakes it.
“Now we are friends lets go eat.” He said as he stands up, then he helps you up.
Years went by, you were adopted by both the Barnes family and the Rogers Family. You started having feelings for Bucky when you were fourteen. He eventually confessed his love for you and started dating when you were sixteen. You joined the military in 1936. Bucky was devastated at first but he knows that was was the only way you can make descent money during this time. You need it for Steve medical reasons and somewhere to live since his parents died. You then met Dr. Abraham Erskine during a medical training course. He wanted you to help develop a serum to enhance a soldiers abilities. After developing the serum Dr. Abraham Erskine wanted to test it on you. So he did and it worked. But he wanted a soldier to have the abilities in the battle field,so its not wasted on just a spy. Before you could find soldiers to test on you had to do spy missions in Germany. When you got back you heard that Dr. Abraham Erskine already tested on Johann Schmidt without consulting you. Later finding out Bucky was joining made you scared for him. You seen what battlefield is full of. You knew Steve wanted to join and you convinced Dr. Abraham Erskine that Steve was the perfect candidate for the the serum. When Steve told you that they are not sending a rescue team to save Bucky’s group, you guys went and saved them. After you got back to camp Bucky proposed to you and said you’ll get married as soon as you got back. When he died you were so deviated. You were with Steve the whole time you trying to stop the bombs on the United States. Then got frozen with Steve.
You have been chased, beaten, and had a secret lair fall on you in the last two days. Nick Fury died and the S.H.E.I.L.D. you known and loved was actually ran by HYDRA. . You caught Jasper Sitwell to help stop the Helicarriers from killing people.
“ HYDRA doesn't like leaks.”Jasper said
“ So why don't you try sticking a cork in it.” Sam said.
“ Insight's launching in sixteen hours, we're cutting it a little bit close here.” Natasha said
“I know. We'll use him to bypass the DNA scans and access the Helicarriers directly.”Steve said.
“ What?! Are you crazy? That is a terrible, terrible idea.”Jasper said.
Suddenly the something lands on the car roof, pulled Sitwell through the window and through him into the oncoming traffic, killing him, he then started shooting at us until Steve pulled the break handle which made the guy drop down onto the street, as another car smashes into the our car and pushed us along, then jumped back onto our car, he smashed through the windshield and pulled out the steering wheel.
“Shit!” Sam said.
Both you and Natasha started shooting at him but he jumped onto the vehicle behind us, as our car is being pulled off the road Steve held on to the car door.
“Hang on!” Steve screamed. He broke the door, then grabbed you and Sam then you grabbed Natasha. We slid on the car door through the street. You looked up at him realizing it the Winter soldier. He was joined by other HYDRA agents and they started shooting at us. We scatter and ran off in different directions as the Winter Soldier started shooting at you and you managed to shoot him in his goggles and ran off.
“Она у меня. Найди его.” The Winter Soldier said. Meaning She's mine. Find him. He ran after you as the Hydra agents go after Steve and Sam who both manage to fend them off as they shoot at them, Steve then notices the Winter Soldier in pursuit of you. He looks at Sam and Natasha.
“Go, we got this!” Sam said to Steve.
The Winter Soldier thought he's found you but you recorded yourself saying, I make an LZ, twenty-three hundred block of Virginia Avenue. Rendezvous two minutes. Taking fire above and below expressway. Civilians threatened. Repeat, civilians threatened. You watched him roll a bomb towards where he thought you were hiding. When the bomb exploded you jumped onto the Winter Soldier’s back and tried to kill him but he through you off. You got up and grabbed your knife from your boot and tried to slice his throat. He caught your hand and looked at you. He froze and said on word.
“Doll?” You looked at him confused and seen his eyes. The bluest eye you ever seen. The eyes you fell in love with pretty much your whole life. But they seem broken. He pushed you off of him and dropped the knife. Then Steve jumped in and attacked him. As they fought, you were trying to process this information. That’s impossible he died. But he knows your pet name for you. He’s a spy he is playing games wit you. Don’t let him win. After convincing yourself that its not Bucky you got up to help Steve. The Winter Soldier grabbed Steve's shield and through it at his head but Steve managed to avoid being hit. You and Steve fought with The Winter Soldier, but he wasnt trying to hurt you. He was trying to push you out of the way. With Steve he is trying to kill him. It was keep nawing at you. I have to know its not him. You jumped up and karate kicked The Winter Soldier’s head. Then The Winter Soldier's mask comes off, as he looked at you. Its Bucky. Your heart dropped.
“Bucky?” Steve said.
“Who the hell is Bucky?”Bucky said as Bucky goes to shoot at Steve. Sam flew in and kicked Bucky aside, Bucky tried to take a aim again but before he can shoot Natasha used the grenade launcher Bucky dropped earlier to shot at Bucky
“NO!!” You screamed as you fall on you knees and he vanished in the smoke of the explosion, then we heard sirens after which we were surrounded by HYDRA agents being led by Rumlow.
“ Drop the shield, Cap! On your knees! Get on your knees! Now! Get down! Get down!” Rumlow screamed. Steve held his hands up. “Get on your knees! Down!” He kicked Steve's leg and Steve keeled down “Don't move.”
Rumlow looked at the helicopter flying above them and warned Rollins who's holding Steve at gunpoint. “Put the gun down. Not here. Not here!” Rollins lowered his gun, the HYDRA agents then took you, Steve, Sam, and Natasha into custody. You looked at Rumlow.
“Hey Rumlow.” You said.
“What do you want sweet cheeks?” He replied.
“You going to pay for what you done to Bucky. Even if that means I die with you, you son of a bitch.”

In Arley, Alabama, you will have a feel of a quiet and close-knit neighborhood. The small population of the town is perfect for those who want to live in a small community where everyone knows each other. The area is surrounded by nature and there is the Smith Lake that gives you a perfect spot to explore nature. Since this is only a small town, expect that the pace of living is slower compared with many big cities. For families, the educational system is above average.

Most of the arrest report in the news today come from failure to appear. This makes it very important that you appear in court when you have a schedule or never neglect to pay a traffic citation. Bench warrants are served to people who have committed an offense against the court. Police authorities can arrest you anytime or on the spot. But while you have an existing bench warrant, you are still entitled to all the rights under the constitution. Since the idea of getting arrested can be stressful, it is best to avoid these problems by attending your hearing or better yet, always be mindful of the law and avoid doing anything that is against it.

Listed: Joshua Stamper
After 25 years composing and arranging, Joshua Stamper’s versatility remains as notable as ever. The artist moves fluidly from classical to indie-rock to chamber music and more. While collaborating with acts like mewithoutYou and Robyn Hitchcock or scoring films, he manages to release his own work, too. Reviewing Stamper’s most recent release, Justin Cober-Lake described PRIMEMOVER as a “soundtrack for a particular kind of year in the church life, one with puzzles and rest, beauty and complication.” His work, as with PRIMEMOVER or his new Elements project, tends to be multidisciplinary, with Stamper incorporating an array of influences from outside music. With his breadth of input and output, it's no surprise that Stamper would offer us a list that includes music, visual art, philosophy, and poetry.
Thierry De Mey — “Unknowness, for percussion and sampling: Love Function is to Fabricate Unknowness”
youtube
My brother gave me Thierry De Mey’s Kinok for my birthday about twenty years ago. He bought it on the strength of the album cover alone. It’s a record I have returned to dozens of times. “Unknowness” is utterly arresting — a deep and loose sway juxtaposed with startling percussive gestures as unpredictable as ricocheting gunshots. It is all swing, mystery, magic, and space. I feel when listening that I am reduced to sub-atomic scale, where mountains of granite become a gossamer mesh that I move through as a stroll in the park, looking at trees that are freeze-frame explosions.
John Cage — “Water Walk”
youtube
4'33" is a popular punching bag for Cage critics. The piece is derided as an adolescent practical joke from an impertinent child of a composer who gets his kicks deliberately wasting audiences’ time. “It's not music” is the common refrain, but the complaint behind the complaint is that it is alienating; that the only way in which the piece facilitates communal experience is that everyone feels on the outside of an inside joke.
When I was younger, I shared this impatience with Cage. Then I came across “Water Walk,” a piece premiered in January 1960 on the popular TV game show I’ve Got A Secret. My view of John Cage and his music were both upended, instantly and utterly. Instead of a preening and pretentious provocateur I encountered a playful and guileless individual filled with wonder; one who took unfettered joy in people, invention, and the sheer fact of sound.
In the space of one viewing, 4'33" shifted from an insolent and self-satisfied prank to a concentrated celebration of community and sound — a wide-eyed invitation to pause, together, all of us here sharing this space, LISTEN, all of us here sharing this space, together, pause. My self-righteousness shattered. All becomes music. I haven't heard anything the same way since.
I’ve since spent a great deal of time with his writing, lectures, poems, prints and music, and wonder how I could have ever thought ill of the man's intentions. It may seem obvious, but Cage taught me that an artist’s own life is the clearest interpretative lens through which to understand their work.
Prince and the Revolution — “I Wonder U” (from Parade)
youtube
Sgt. Pepper-esque sound design, kaleidoscopic orchestral arrangements, the hushed voices of Prince, Wendy and Lisa riding on a composite groove of such integrity and force that it sounds like it's forged from steel...
I first encountered Prince’s Parade the summer between my high-school graduation and my first year of college. “I Wonder U” is less than two minutes long, but I was stopped in my tracks. The song feels like the liminal space between dreaming and waking, at once welcoming and dangerous, where multiple musics converge like Charles Ives’ double marching bands destined for head-on collision. Discreet melodies and rhythms and keys bleed in and out of each other, but also exist as vital layers in a larger whole. It's a hypnotizing 3-D sonic Venn diagram.
My decision to major in composition was set.
Jasper Johns — “Regrets”, 2013, oil on canvas
Jasper Johns said, “I think that one wants from a painting a sense of life. The final statement has to be not a deliberate statement but a helpless statement. It has to be what you can't avoid saying.”
“a helpless statement” – I find myself breathing deeper and slower with Johns’ words, grateful for the reminder that before anything else, art making must be grounded in vulnerability and weakness. The hope and the challenge in Johns’ words is its call to distillation, to get to the heart of the heart of the heart of a matter, where there is simply nothing else that can be said. The process of distillation even involves the shedding of all those things we sometimes mistake for the work itself: craft, expertise, training, credential. There’s a threshold that must be crossed, a moment of lift-off where will and deliberation are left behind and the work takes flight on what is inevitable, as involuntary as a cry or a laugh.
Palestrina — “Missa Brevis”
youtube
“Painting is time, music is space.” So said one of my brother’s undergrad art professors. Of course, you’d expect the opposite, as space is the context in which painting exists while time is the fundamental warp and woof of music. But my most profound experiences with music are always characterized by new spaces being revealed or created. By “space,” I don't mean some state of cerebral or emotional revelry. I mean real, actual space — with dimensions. A space that’s shocking in its physicality. This happens to me constantly.
My first experience of Palestrina’s “Missa Brevis” was in a choir rehearsal in my junior year of high-school. It was a catalytic event. A braid of interweaving melodies and counter-melodies emerged, enveloping me and everyone else singing, and the room seemed to expand. I wanted more. The vocational pull to become a musician was like being swept out to sea.
Every time I return to this piece, I experience this expansion. The patient dip and rising of every “Kyrie,” “eleison” and “in excelsis” creates its own cosmology, its own dimensions and gravity. Our relationship to time is also a relationship to space; their woven-ness is inextricable. The space-time continuum isn't just a physics thing.
Ann Hamilton — The Event of A Thread
Years ago, I had the opportunity to experience The Event of A Thread by Ann Hamilton at the Park Avenue Armory in New York City. A massive silk that moves like water or vapor, a field of swings, a record stylus, wooden crates of live pigeons, paper scrolls spilling onto the floor, a ceiling peppered with pulleys, bags of words and sacks of sound... It's difficult to describe the piece, in either its scope or particulars, but I became a child.
In Ann Hamilton's discussion of the piece, she says, “It happened because a space was made for it to happen.” The inverse implication of this statement is that if space isn't made, things won’t happen. In my experience, solitude, reflection, exploration and craft are so easily bullied by the crush of life and of calendars, but Hamilton’s observation presses an urgent case for the care and protection of these kinds of spaces to think and puzzle and make. How much wonder, play, rest, and beauty could exist only for want of a place to exist?
So, with that, “it happened because a space was made for it to happen” – my working manifesto.
Mary Oliver — Upstream (Section One: “Of Power and Time”)
“It is a silver morning like any other. I am at my desk. Then the phone rings, or someone raps at the door. I am deep in the machinery of my wits. Reluctantly I rise, I answer the phone, or I open the door. And the thought which I had in hand, or almost in hand, is gone.”
The untroubled waters of a day whose promises have yet to unfold are not untroubled for very long. But the most persistent interruptions are those that come, as Oliver describes, “not from another, but from the self itself.” The resonance for me is deep.
In a 2015 On Being interview, Mary Oliver tells a story about when she learned she had received the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry (she didn't even know that her latest, American Primitive, had been submitted for the award): she was at the town dump looking to buy shingles to shingle a roof with. A painter friend of hers came by, joking, “Ha, what are you doing? Looking for your old manuscripts?”. Oliver just laughed and continued looking. When recounting the story to Krista Tippett, she chuckled and said, “...my job in the morning was to go find some shingles.”
To simply be dedicated to the work of the day, to be unmoved and uninterrupted by either rejection or by accolade represents a degree of settledness that I find very beautiful and very challenging.
She was known for writing while she was walking...
Ludwig Wittgenstein / Wendell Berry — “How to Be a Poet”
To continue on the subject of the working life, last night I came across a beautifully concise quote from Ludwig Wittgenstein that speaks to a consistent tension I experience: the urgency to cultivate the solitary and silent spaces required for thinking and working, and a loud and frenetic pull in the opposite direction to “produce” (to what end? - I constantly find myself asking). He simply says: “I can only think clearly in the dark."
This sentiment is echoed in Wendell Berry's proverb-like poem “How to Be a Poet” (wit and wisdom go together well):
“...Any readers who like your poems, doubt their judgement.” [...]
“Stay away from anything that obscures the place it is in.”[...]
“...make a poem that does not disturb the silence from which it came.”
Both Wittgenstein and Berry cut against the grain of popular priorities of content-creation, audience-building, beating the algorithms and cutting through the noise (again, to what end?). Instead, they throw open a window to the generous gifts and glories of a life lived in obscurity.
Andy Goldsworthy
Andy Goldsworthy’s work re-convinced me that art has power. That it is able, for those with ears to hear and eyes to see, to create or reveal a different way of inhabiting the world, of inhabiting one's own humanity. My introduction to Goldsworthy was a documentary by Thomas Riedelsheimer called Rivers and Tides: Andy Goldsworthy Working With Time. I watched tall stone cairns being built on the beach, slowly and carefully, only to be disassembled by the gentle but unremitting incoming tide. I was transfixed by bright yellow leaves stitched together and set loose along a creak, moving like a lazy water snake, wending around rocks and logs and gradually twisting and breaking apart. Balls of bright red dust thrown into the air to form dissipating crimson clouds; delicate stick-curtains collapsing at the breath of a breeze; one-ton snowballs on a London summer day, melting to water and then to air.
As Westerners we tend towards a conception of beauty that is extremely specific, a precise and particular point in time: the crest of a wave, a flower that's just bloomed, a new car rolling off the truck at the dealership, a man or a woman at twenty-five... But Goldsworthy's work does something different. It includes these moments but also folds them into something larger. One begins to see the whole story of a thing, from its initial conception all the way to its inevitable fading or destruction, and all of it is beautiful. This changes everything.
I recognize in myself a preference for the promise of a thing more than the reality of a thing, but as I interact with Goldsworthy’s work my understanding of beauty is slowly and gently disassembled, like one of his beach cairns. It is replaced with a widened aperture, a more charitable and hospitable read of the people and the world around, and I'm welcomed into a more generous way of being.

Dunas Desert Hotel Kuwait
August 2021, Berlin, Germany – Jasper Architects announced winning an international design competition for a hotel located in Kuwait, a country of 4.2 million people that is largely a desert.
The concept proposes an immersive oasis to arrive and observe the desert from within, building on Jasper Architects’ previous resort experience in South and North America. The 19,866 m2 / 213,835 ft2 structure is inspired by elements of the natural sandy landscape and the textures, shapes, colors, and soft curvilinear geometries of the dunes.
The construction is planned to be executed with pigmented shotcrete paired with pigmented readymade concrete elements. Wood and rammed earth elements are planned to be integrated into the interior.
Jasper Architects’ architecture is designed according to the topography of the surrounding. A circular roof folds down in a radial array, following the undulations of the desert dunes and creating spaces for private suites varying between 554-600 m2 / 5,963-6,458 ft2.
Perforations in the roof allow for direct visible connections from the inside to the desert’s sky. In the center, common areas create a comfortable, relaxed environment where collective gathering happens.
Each private suite has a unique view that allows guests to enjoy a direct connection with the desert. The suites have a spa salon, a private swimming pool, and common living spaces.
The roof’s touchpoints between each suite create access to the roof through molded stairs, creating yet another spectacular place for guests to see, experience, and marvel at Kuwait’s desert landscape.

Inspire yourself with the Best Luxury Interior Design Projects
You don’t have to research a lot to find some amazing interior design projects. In the case of the projects we’re about to show you today, they feature hyper-exclusive brands with incredibly unique designs inspiring us all by how the pieces harmoniously fit together. Shall we take a little look?
Private Villa in London with Circu Magical Furniture
Circu Magical Furniture has been all over the years present in some of the best kids interiors projects in the world. The unique qualities of their pieces make them a premier choice of designers and studios, like in this case with AB+Partners. The white of the walls, the pastel colours and the selective materials dominate the atmosphere. By renouncing the complexity of forms, the studio opted to offer the sumptuousness in another form, so that its splendour is not strident but create the general atmosphere of the villa. The interior has been given luxury notes by integrating golden details, classic wall decoration and fine finishes.
In the sophisticated ambience, imposing luminaires were easily framed, whose sumptuous shapes come to perfectly complement the interior. Thus, the villa borrowed from the classic London style, mixed with modernism, transforming the residence into the perfect place for relaxation and retreat from everyday life. The Fantasy Air Balloon is a themed bed that invokes the romantic and whimsical ambience of a hot air balloon ride! Kids will relate this bed to the Disney movie “Up”, while parents will feel like being transported to the adventurous tale of Phileas Fogg. This kids bed helps to create a playful environment that triggers children’s curiosity and creativity.
Molteni and Dada Woolworth Tower Private Residence
As the exclusive custom kitchen partner for the Woolworth Tower Residences at 2 Park Place, Dada continues to elevate its strong presence in this international design city.
The Dada Contract Division outfitted the residential tower with a total of 34 kitchens and 111 vanities. Custom Dada kitchens feature white lacquered bespoke doors, nickel knobs that channel the style of the neo-Gothic building and white Calacatta Caldia marble countertops.
The bathrooms incorporate bespoke Dada lacquered cabinetry with mirrors to complete the ambience. Collaborating closely with internal design teams, Dada created settings uniquely tailored to the building’s particular needs while exemplifying key brand attributes, such as quality, skill and passion.
Armani Casa Private London Residence
Established in 2004 the studio, under the direct supervision of Giorgio Armani, provides a comprehensive design service for a variety of projects: apartments in the most exclusive locations, private yachts and planes, exotic villas and prestigious residential complexes. While implementing the Armani style in different contexts and with different shades, the ultimate aim of the Studio is to respond to the demands and wishes of the client.
A period townhouse, 800 sq. meters on 7 levels. Complete refurbishment, interior design and furnishing project.
Flexform’s Private Living Room in São Paulo
An elegant São Paulo residence designed by Hueb Ferreira Arquitetos. The signature design look is apparent in the simplicity of the pairing of the travertine floors with a bold shade of dark brown on the painted walls.
The clear chromatic contrast contributes to creating an atmosphere of refined equilibrium. The living room is furnished with a spacious composition of the Groundpiece sofa, designed by Antonio Citterio, upholstered in a light-coloured linen fabric that pairs fittingly with the dark brown cowhide-clad bookshelf-armrest that lends function and personality to the sofa.
Completing the decor, the Fly coffee table in Canaletto walnut that flutters above the unique Bangkok ottoman, also upholstered in dark brown cowhide.
A Private Residence by Flos
You can also read this one: Here are some top projects from New York’s Top Interior Designers
This Private residence, by Flos Furniture, art is everywhere to be found. The architectural features are perfectly merged with the Italian brand’s furniture. The beginnings of Flos (meaning “flower” in Latin) blossomed from a brilliant idea: to create objects, starting with a light bulb, that would change the way of life for both the Italian market and the foreign markets.
In 1972, the “Italy The New Domestic Landscape” show at New York City’s MoMA– the most important museum of contemporary art in America – was a phenomenon of unprecedented popularity celebrating the culture of art and industry. Flos was featured in the show with several pieces – in particular by the Castiglioni brothers – consolidating the brand as an international avant-garde company. From that moment, the firm’s development and its popularity went hand-in-hand. Between the ’70s and ’80s, they expanded their production with new facilities, their market with branches abroad, and their product catalogue (which included the acquisition of dell’Arteluce by Gino Sarfatti).
Under Piero Gandini’s management, Flos focused on the harmony between iconic forms, artisan craftsmanship and mass-production technology. However, the crucial step towards change came with the realization that contemporary objects can be a form of expression, with as many stylistic interpretations as there are languages in the world. And so, Piero Gandini called upon the most promising talents in international design: from the “futuristic” style of Australian Marc Newson (with his Helice Lamp in 1993) to the English prophet of minimalist design Jasper Morrison, to Konstantin Grcic, the most refined and eclectic German designer.
Buxmed Bishops Avenue Properties with Porada
An award-winning collection of three penthouses, six duplexes and eleven lateral apartments set in a 2.5-acre site with private landscaped gardens and outstanding facilities including an indoor 25m pool, spa, cinema and more.
With the support of his sons, who became promoters, as well as him, of a Company that makes quality and professionalism its own bases. Excellent quality and considerable experience in the wood manufacturing shortly gave the Company a solid and well-defined identity, which nowadays express itself in refined products that contribute to design a domestic environment, where the everyday living needs are met.
Porada’s collection is wide and varied, made up of a multitude of occasional furniture developed in cooperation with designers as Tarcisio Colzani, Patrick Joiun, Carlo Ballabio, Marconato e Zappa, Opera Design, Studio Buratti, David Dolcini, Stefano Bigi, Gino Carollo and Emmanuel Gallina among others.
Baccarat Paris Private Residences
Baccarat has graced its presence in some unique, luxurious projects. From hospitality projects to private residences, the French brand adds that Luxurious touch to any project. Transforming matter into an object of desire has been the calling and talent of Baccarat artisans for over 250 years, targeting perfection.
It takes 15 years to master the techniques, tap the infinite possibilities for sculpting crystal. Baccarat boasts the highest number of award-winning Best Craftsmen in France, more than any other French luxury House.
BACCARAT LA MAISON collection is a natural extension of the Baccarat universe and offers statement furniture and home accessories with a timeless style, at the highest standards of the art of living industry. From stylish living rooms to chic dining and bedroom collections, BACCARAT LA MAISON offers a range of products unrivalled in the furniture industry.
Roberto Cavalli in I Love Florence Tower in Dubai
A new luxury tower in Dubai named “I Love Florence” will be the first in the world to carry the “Roberto Cavalli” brand, bringing the glitz and glamour of runway to private homes. For the first time, Roberto Cavalli designs the interiors of an iconic residential tower with a range of exquisite home accessories and ornate fittings from Cavalli interiors.
The rich interiors of Roberto Cavalli will project bespoke living spaces adding depth, character and style. They will be an embodiment of all the strength and glamour of the Maison ‘Roberto Cavalli lifestyle‘, delivering energy, prestige, emotion, success, and desire to experience.”
He added: “We are excited to work on this project that combines the sophistication of fascinating Florence with the famed luxury of dazzling Dubai. The interiors of the lavish 34-storey waterfront skyscraper, located in one of the world’s greatest urban transformations, will offer its residents a refined living experience that also echoes the romantic vibes of the rustic streets of Florence.”
Architect Sofia de Backer’s House with Antonio Lupi
Upon entering, it is immediately noticeable: Sofie likes beautiful and practical. “A house serves primarily to live in. It must be functional and practical. ”So there was a double door at the front: one for the office and one for the living area. The architectural design of the house is also simple and efficient: a fairly tight floor plan with two beams one above the other, with the top one slightly slid over the edge, to form a roof over the terrace.
At the rear, above the covered terrace, is the night area of the couple. The bedroom and bathroom are in one large room, which creates a suite feeling. The Porro wardrobe in the middle serves as a partition and headboard for the black lacquered bed with canopy from MDF Italia. The bathroom area is also protected with a wall of smoked glass.

Hyperallergic: Treasures from the Met Ascend to Its Roof in a Scramble of Art History
Adrían Villar Rojas, The Theater of Disappearance on the roof of the Metropolitan Museum of Art (all photos by the author for Hyperallergic)
How would you navigate one of the world’s largest encyclopedic art museums, if all its systems to classify objects by region, culture, and time disappeared?
Argentinian artist Adrían Villar Rojas presents that very situation at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, where he has uprooted artworks from their assigned departments and gathered them all in one space: the institution’s rooftop. Don’t worry — they’re replicas. The latest recipient of the museum’s Roof Garden Commission (and its youngest yet), Villar Rojas created detailed copies of nearly 100 objects from the Met’s sprawling collection, with the help of its technicians, who 3D-scanned the originals. The results are made of CNC-milled urethane foam that he and his assistants later coated with black and white industrial paint.
Adrían Villar Rojas, The Theater of Disappearance on the roof of the Metropolitan Museum of Art
Beyond presenting what recalls an attic of wondrous artifacts, Villar Rojas took an extra step to splice together the scans, rescaling and seamlessly merging them to form the final 16 massive sculptures. Some also integrate scanned, life-sized statues; others, full-scale models of humans. The results are confounding contemporary hybrids of cultural pasts. Look closely, and each will reveal treasures culled from the Ancient Near East, Medieval Europe, and Africa, among other regions.
Titled The Theater of Disappearance, the installation, curated by Beatrice Galilee, reinterprets art history as established by one of the most influential Western institutions while also investigating the collecting practices that have shored up its troves. As its name suggests, it does so by relying on drama and grandeur: Villar Rojas, known for his larger-than-life works — usually of carefully handled clay — has entirely transformed the open-air space into a dystopian banquet hall where culture is the main meal, long-ago consumed. The otherworldly diorama was a result of conversations the artist had with the museum staff, from curators to conservators, to learn about the collection.
“In the process, he holds up a mirror to what we do at the museum, questioning the ideological stance of the museum and, in particular, how we choose to present cultural histories over time,” Sheena Wagstaff, the museum’s head of modern and contemporary art, said at the exhibition preview, adding that no other living artist has interacted with the Met’s staff as exhaustively as Villar Rojas.
The roof reflects this kick into overdrive. Sculptures lie on and surround the tables and chairs (these, too, are part of the installation, and are barred from weary bottoms), and the artist has redesigned the roof’s architecture to match the calcified party scene, from its benches to its pergola to the floor, which is now a checkerboard of gray, white, and black. It’s a complete shift from last summer’s Psychobarn by Cornelia Parker, which was simple and confined to a corner of the public space.
Adrían Villar Rojas, The Theater of Disappearance on the roof of the Metropolitan Museum of Art
Adrían Villar Rojas, The Theater of Disappearance on the roof of the Metropolitan Museum of Art
Villar Rojas’s vision far from underwhelms; it may even stir slight anxiety. Immersive and elaborate, it situates you as witness to the eerie remnants of a Bacchanalian feast that could either exist in a new, alien world or represent the ruins of our current ailing one. The integrated humans, dressed in 21st-century garb and posing unlike any classical statues would (slouching, smoking, making out) — they could be us, although some seem like prehistoric or medieval characters (and others like gimmicky Hollywood props). On a few tables, tiny crustacean sculptures also allude to primordial times (recalling another previous roof commission, by Pierre Huyghe).
The scrambling and flattening of time is a familiar theme in Villar Rojas’s exhibitions. Here, this space void of divisions considers the origins and composition of the museum’s patrimony — you’ll note, for instance, that replicas of Egyptian art are more prevalent than those of Native American and Asian art. The monochrome works, notably, also nod to the Met’s original practice of displaying plaster copies of famous sculptures when it first opened in 1870; only in the mid-19th-century did it begin to showcase genuine artifacts. Villar Rojas’s jumbled-up trove makes you wonder how all these diverse pieces came to eventually rest here, in New York. It also made me question why I connect certain forms and styles with certain cultures. The new configurations, placing all works on an equalizing, decontextualized stage, reveal the extent of our personal knowledge and cultural biases. More broadly, they also make you consider the museum’s power as a place that presents truths according to a particular framework.
Adrían Villar Rojas, The Theater of Disappearance on the roof of the Metropolitan Museum of Art
Adrían Villar Rojas, The Theater of Disappearance on the roof of the Metropolitan Museum of Art
The Theater of Disappearance encourages discovery, which is why its greatest success, ultimately, is to amuse. Surprises abound in this foreign way to view the familiar, with every nook and cranny of each sculpture revealing unexpected detail. For those acquainted with the Met’s collections, moving around this playhouse offers the particularly fun challenge of identifying as many objects as possible. Some may recognize a replica statue of the seated scribe Haremhab, which occupies a prominent spot in the Egyptian art galleries; others may know the travertine Head of a Hippopotamus, held, in the roof installation, by a man who regards it without emotion. Many may actually breeze past the famous yellow jasper face of a queen, which Villar Rojas has enlarged to serve as an inconspicuous perch for a sleeping youth. Discerning specific works of Ancient Egyptian art, for me, was by far the easiest — which is telling.
Villar Rojas provides no answer key to this intellectual hunt, and perhaps you’ll soon surrender and descend from the roof to search for the original objects. While certainly extravagant, The Theater of Disappearance lacks the emotional pull of the artist’s previous clay works. Those massive pieces, made with a team of assistants, were dusty sculptures with bold cracks that immediately recalled archaeological finds. On the Met’s roof, every surface in this series is immaculately polished; missing is the evocative fragility and handiwork of past pieces. Visitors with careful eyes, though, will note a slight coating of dust on some areas, which is actually paint. I’d argue that this manicured dirt plays the most intriguing role in this tableau: It introduces a subtle myth that raises uncertainty about the care of these instant artifacts, and it reminds us that everything is at risk of eventual neglect, of falling into cultural irrelevance.
