In light of the revelation that Jemma Redgrave is a Gunners' fan I find myself pondering a fic where Bernie is a footie fan and takes Jason to matches - not only the ones for the local Holby footie team, but also to matches at the Emirates Stadium.
I'm still not up to writing following the loss of my mum, but if I were, I'd be tempted to write it.

Okay, so Twisters came out this weekend, which means I had to watch Twister again, and I really need to gush about this movie.
Twister is one of two disaster movies that I can watch repeatedly without it getting old (Armageddon is my other favorite). And part of it is because of the characters.
Jo, Bill, and Melissa aside; who were all magnificent characters, I adored Jo’s team just as much!!!
Tim ‘Beltzer’ Lewis came off like Jo’s second in command. Usually when Jo went off ahead and the group stopped to gather data, Beltzer seemed to take charge. He was usually one of the first people Jo called for and would be the first to start giving orders. Beltzer is a bit of a nerd, having quoted Star Wars in his excitement when he thought they were going to get ‘Dorthy’ up. He also a bit of a goof, saying ‘he was without apparel’ when Bill kept insisting he wasn’t butt naked when they met. It is also clear Beltzer has been doing this for a while because he was part of the retelling of stories from the early days along with Dustin and Rabbit.
Haynes travels a little with Beltzer for the first half of the movie. The two have a close relationship as they are usually together in scenes. Beltzer physically moves Haynes away to give Jo and Bill space in the beginning and even holds Haynes to give her comfort when Aunt Meg got hurt. The two also sing Oklahoma together when everyone was excitedly chasing after the first tornado of the day. Haynes for her part seems to be one of the data technicians. She helps monitor the data reports and she knows what she is looking at, being the one to identify that the F5 tornado at the end of the movie was going to shift before anyone else did. She is also usually handling data print outs.
In the next vehicle you got Robert ‘Rabbit’ Nurick. Rabbit is a pretty heavily featured character and part of that is because he is the primary navigator of the group. The cab of Rabbit and Sanders’ truck is full of maps which Rabbit uses to help find the fastest and most efficient ways for the group to chase the tornado. Rabbit has to know the area well, has to fully understand how to read maps, and how to quickly adapt. Rabbit is also particular. His first scene is him snapping at Sanders due to one of his maps being folded instead of rolled. He also tries to sooth others, explaining very patiently to Aunt Meg that she can’t drive herself to the hospital due to her car being in a tree.
Rabbit rides is a car with Sanders. Sanders is one of the younger members of the group. He is still pretty excitable, being one of the people to chime in over the radio when they were looking at a tornado and having nothing useful to really add except that it was ‘beautiful’. Sanders also helps with data analysis and navigation.
The next vehicle is probably the most green members of the group. Joey and Laurence. Both of them know Bill, so they were there when Bill was earlier, but they are more inexperienced than the rest of the team. Laurence was probably on his first major field project. Jo had scolded him at the beginning for not properly maintaining the equipment and he referred to Beltzer as ‘Sir’. He is only one to suggest they throw in the towel after the first close call and when they are taking cover in the drive in, Laurence was the only person to try to hide in a car instead of underground. He also froze in fear and Jo had to pull him out. So he likely hasn’t done this before. Joey in addition was a little inexperienced but he and Laurence were monitoring the satellite data. Joey is also a little looser in his priorities. When the others are excited about the data they were getting from ‘Dorthy’ finally flying, Joey yells ‘we are going to be so popular!’
The two also appear to be close. Not only are they in a truck together but at the end of the movie when Laurence collapses on the ground in relief, Joey immediately starts playing rock-paper-scissors with him until Dusty interrupts and Laurence then clings to Dustin’s leg. They are younger, more playful, and Dusty clearly enjoys that.
Speaking of Dusty, let’s talk about Dustin Davis. Dustin is probably the most goofy one, and the craziest after Jo and Bill. However unlike those two, he doesn’t have a death wish either. Dustin is one of the older and more experienced members of the team. He knows a lot about tornadoes but he’s very unorthodox. He knows the principles and the concepts but he has no patience for the scientific terms so he makes up his own that make sense to him. He is also the most outgoing of the group, going out of his way to look after Melissa and try to make her feel welcome to the group. He keeps the rest of the team smiling.
Then we have Jason ‘Preacher’ Rowe. Preacher is another older more experienced member. He seems to be in the middle of experiences, with Dusty, Rabbit, Haynes, and Beltzer on one side with Sanders, Laurence, and Joey on the other. He likes upbeat music and judging from his name and his ‘finger of god’ comment, he was likely religious.
The entire team are very intelligent individuals. They are working hard on their research project, something they are on one of their last field projects for if they don’t get results judging from Dusty’s comment about the grant money running out at the beginning. They are all adrenaline junkies for the most part (minus Laurence) but they aren’t crazy either. The entire team shows they know when to have fun and when to get serious. They know when the danger is too much and when the risks are not worth the potential rewards.
They are also a very ride or die team. Jonas was portrayed to be an enemy of Bill’s. According to Bill; he, Jo, and Jonas started in the same lab together (it’s quite possible that Jonas was part of Jo’s group when they met Bill and eventually Jonas split off to do his own thing). Jo mentions that Jonas would let Bill take the lead and then swoop in and take his ideas or the credit. It has created a huge rivalry between Jonas and Bill, which Jo’s team clearly takes Bill’s side on. Jonas doesn’t once acknowledge the others but they are quick to make fun of Jonas and his team.
The entire team also adores Jo’s Aunt Meg. Aunt Meg is the team aunt. They all adore her and she loves them. She knows this is what they ‘live for’, so she uses her home as a rest stop for them. A place where they can recharge and regroup. They come by for showers, changes of clothes, food, and momentary rest. She cares for them all and they care about her. Knowing she was in danger, the entire team rushes out to find her without a moment of hesitation. They all try to make Meg feel better and even look after her dog while she is in the hospital.
I honestly always loved this movie because of the chemistry with all the characters, how they interact, and how they all weave through the story.
I will probably watch it again soon, but I just wanted to gush about how much I adore these characters!!!!

Warren Haynes to Make Return to Stage with Phil Lesh & Friends
- March 11-12 gigs mark Haynes’ first since he was felled by influenza and COVID-19 in December 2022
Warren Haynes is returning to the concert stage.
The “excited” guitarist is a late addition to Phil Lesh & Friends’ March 11-12 gigs in Chicago.
“It’s such a joy every time I time I get to play music with Warren Haynes,“ Lesh said in a statement announcing Haynes is joining the band that includes guitarist Grahame Lesh, drummer John Molo, multi-instrumentalist Jason Crosby and the Trey Anastasio Band horn section.
The shows will mark Haynes’ first performances since Gov’t Mule abruptly postponed its 2022 year-end shows when Haynes fell ill with influenza and COVID-19. He subsequently sat out Gov’t Mule’s January concerts in Jamaica.
Gov’t Mule’s next appearance is scheduled for May 11-13 at Echoland music festival in Florida.

Jason Franklin, Bette Henritze, and Julianne Moore in Far From Heaven (Todd Haynes, 2002) Cast: Julianne Moore, Dennis Quaid, Dennis Haysbert, Patricia Clarkson, James Rebhorn, Viola Davis, Celia Weston. Screenplay: Todd Haynes. Cinematography: Edward Lachman. Production design: Mark Friedberg. Music: Elmer Bernstein. Costume design: Sandy Powell. Homage never turns into parody in Todd Haynes's Far From Heaven, a film whose very title alludes to Douglas Sirk's great 1955 melodrama All That Heaven Allows. Haynes's film is set in 1957, only two years after Sirk's was released, but the sensibility that controls it is very much of an era almost half a century later. Haynes has the liberty to deal with matters that were taboo for American filmmakers in 1955, specifically miscegenation and homosexuality -- two words that now have an antique sound to them. But his film has the same resonance as Sirk's: Both expose the raw wounds inflicted on people by social conventions, by the desire to "fit in" with what a given community establishes as its values. We like to think of the 1950s as the nadir of American conformity, a society on the brink of having its repressive qualities exploded by the rebellious 1960s, but although Haynes's film is a "period piece," I think it also provokes us to evaluate what restricts us today. We can pat ourselves on the back that we -- or at least the liberal-minded people in the circles in which I travel -- no longer recoil in horror at an interracial couple or find ourselves shocked, shocked that there are people who love others of their own sex. But just as Cathy Whitaker (Julianne Moore) and her circle of friends retreat into an exclusive community, we too often find ourselves falling into a similar trap of smug self-righteousness that won't withstand the cold shock of reality -- like, for example, a presidency gone awry. Cathy's blithe intellectualized conviction that all people are created equal is tested when she crosses the invisible line between the races. Her frustration at not being able to have a friendship with a Black man -- i.e., someone other than the dull suburbanites that surround her -- is mirrored by her husband's inability to make his way out of the closet. But Cathy naively thinks that there's a "cure" for his problem, making it a lesser trial than her own, which she can blame on society. In the end, the beauty of Haynes's film is that he never yields to the temptation to impose a false liberation on his characters, an ending in which everyone lives happily ever after. Cathy sees Raymond (Dennis Haysbert) off at the station, knowing that she'll never visit him in Baltimore. Frank (Dennis Quaid) is holed up in a hotel room with his lover instead of his spacious suburban home, his family life and probably his job now at an end. They are real enough characters that we want to know what will happen to them, but we suspect that there are no stirring triumphs ahead, only a struggle to rebuild damaged lives. Haynes and his team of cinematographer Edward Lachman, production designer Mark Friedman, costumer Sandy Powell, and composer Elmer Bernstein have crafted a 1950s world that's familiar to us from countless movies, but because of the shrewdness of the screenplay, the depth of the characterization, and the brilliance of the performers the film succeeds in making it real. There are stereotypes in the film, like Celia Weston's malicious gossip, but they are balanced by roles that could have fallen too easily into stereotypes -- Patricia Clarkson's best friend, James Rebhorn's doctor, Viola Davis's maid -- yet manage to develop dimensions of actuality. Far From Heaven also does something that very few films inspired by older ones do: It illuminates its source, so that it's possible to watch All That Heaven Allows again with a new understanding of Sirk's achievement.

‘SNL 1975’ Finds Its Garrett Morris, Dan Aykroyd, Chevy Chase And John Belushi
By Justin Kroll, Anthony D'Alessandro January 30, 2024 10:00am
Lamorne Morris playing Garrett Morris, Dylan O’Brien playing Dan Aykroyd, Cory Michael Smith playing Chevy Chase and Matt Wood playing John Belushi
EXCLUSIVE: Lamorne Morris, Dylan O’Brien, Cory Michael Smith and Matt Wood have joined the cast of Sony Pictures’ SNL 1975 that will be directed by Jason Reitman and based on the real-life behind the scenes accounts of the opening night of Saturday Night Live. Morris will play Garrett Morris, O’Brien will play Dan Aykroyd, Smith will play Chevy Chase, and Wood will play Belushi. The original screenplay is written by Reitman and Gil Kenan.
On October 11, 1975, a ferocious troupe of young comedians and writers changed television forever. SNL 1975 is the true story of what happened behind the scenes that night in the moments leading up to the first broadcast of NBC’s SNL. It depicts the chaos and magic of a revolution that almost wasn’t, counting down the minutes in real time to the infamous words, “Live from New York, it’s Saturday Night!”
The screenplay is based on an extensive series of interviews conducted by Reitman and Kenan with all the living cast members, writers and crew. Reitman, Kenan, Jason Blumenfeld, Erica Mills and Peter Rice are producing.
Morris can currently be seen in FX’s fifth season of Noah Hawley’s hit drama series Fargo as North Dakota Deputy Witt Farr. He joined the cast of Netflix’s Unstable for season two opposite Rob Lowe. Prior to this, he starred as the titular lead in the hybrid live-action/animated Hulu series Woke, inspired by the life and art of cartoonist Keith Knight.
O’Brien was most recently starring in Ponyboi, which premiered as one of ten films in the U.S. Dramatic Competition at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival. Up next, he will be seen in the feature films Caddo Lake, from the writing-directing team of Logan George and Celine Held and producer M. Night Shyamalan, and Anniversary, a thriller co-starring Diane Lane, Kyle Chandler, Zoey Deutch and Phoebe Dynevor. His other credits include Searchlight feature Not Okay from writer-director Quinn Shephard, the critically-acclaimed crime drama The Outfit, opposite Mark Rylance, Zoey Deutch, and Johnny Flynn; Paramount’s Love and Monsters and the popular Maze Runner franchise
Best known for his role on as the Riddler on the popular Fox series Gotham, Smith can currently be seen as Julianne Moore’s son in Todd Haynes’ May December. He most recently starred as Varian Fry in Anna Winger’s limited series Transatlantic opposite Gillian Jacobs and Corey Stoll for Netflix. Smith has also worked with Todd Haynes in both Carol (as private investigator Tommy Tucker) and Wonderstruck.
Wood has appeared in the original Broadway cast of Spongebob Squarepants and as husky kid icon Augustus Gloop in the Broadway First National Tour of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Television credits include Law and Order: SVU, Instinct and Difficult People.
Morris is represented by CAA, Entertainment 360, The Lede Company, and Myman Greenspan Fox Rosenberg Mobasser Younger & Light. O’Brien is repped by William Morris Endeavor Entertainment, Principal Entertainment LA, and Lichter, Grossman, Nichols, Feldman, Rogal, Shikora & Clark. Smith is repped by Circle of Confusion. Wood is repped by BRS/Gage Talent Agency.

TERRAPIN CLUBHOUSE #6: PHIL LESH with Karl Denson, Stu Allen, Jason Crosby, Alex Koford, Grahame Lesh and Elliot Peck
Karl Denson wrapped up the Rolling Stones’ Hackney Diamonds Tour on Sunday night and was in Terrapin Clubhouse early enough in the week for this installment to be released by 8 am PDT Wednesday.
The opening conversation alternated between his Stones’ stories (Brian Jones as source for all the blues recordings they listened to which paralleled the blues/r&b Pigpen picked up from his father’s radio show; Keef writing hooks and riffs and Jagger filling them in) with PHIL LESH’s on the impact of the Stones on the Warlocks>GD and how his fascination with what he thought was a bass on the Stones’ 12 x 5 album perhaps planted a seed for him becoming the Dead’s bass player).
In any case, what unfolded was nearly 40 minutes of Grateful Stones music: Shakedown Street (Denson sang and wailed on tenor sax)>Miss You (!—with those fat bass lines morphing into one another and more Denson vocals), Gimme Shelter (!!—Elliot Peck with the requisite Merry Clayton imitation and the band jamming it forcefully), and Not Fade Away (which both bands did, but here it was explored Deadishly as expected).
I continued to be heartened to note that Lesh is still working his magic with his bass lines. It was a bigger band and there were point where I strained to hear his voice and other times (Shakedown>Miss You segue and NFA) were he was the show. Stu Allen continues to grow on me as a little more than just another interchangeable Garcia substitute. I don’t think he’s in even Jackie Greene’s league, much less Warren Haynes’ or Larry Campbell’s, but he deserves to be a regular feature at these gigs. Jason Crosby is, like Grahame Lesh, solid but I would like to see Denson play with Holly Bowling who is a big league player. Peck doesn’t get enough space to sing leads. Alex Koford is fine, but I will always appreciate John Molo at the kit.
But the treat was Denson who brought an earthy tenor to the mix that really elevated Shakedown and his vocals were surprisingly good too. I’d like to see what he does on the anticipated Darkstarathon that I trust is coming. That will be his test, but his contributions here and this set list are pretty darn special.

I feel like a millionaire
Whenever she comes around
Whenever I hear her sound
I feel like a millionaire
I feel like a millionaire
Whenever she comes around
Whenever I hear her sound
She smell like money when she walk by
All heat, no smoke, but she on fire
If they suicide doors, then she gon' ride
She got that passport pussy cause she
Don't fly, no love
She gon' make you pay to see you work it
She only twerk it for a Birkin
I gotta see if shawty worth it
Hey, she must be the money
I feel like a millionaire
I feel like a millionaire
Whenever she comes around
Whenever I hear her sound
I feel like a millionaire
I feel like a millionaire
Whenever she comes around
Whenever I hear her sound
Shawty work her way, the way she go down
Shawty worth her weight, her weight in gold pounds
Call me young money, put that milli on me
She gon' make you pay to see you work it
She only twerk it for a Birkin
I gotta see if shawty worth it
Hey, she must be the money
She must be the money
She only looking like money
I feel like a millionaire
I feel like a millionaire
Whenever she comes around
Whenever I hear her sound
I feel like a millionaire
I feel like a millionaire
Whenever she comes around
Whenever I hear her sound
I feel like a
