We check in on some other teams that start with x that aren’t the X-men! London has a bad time and there’s some drama with brainwashing and evil clones. We talk about being Mystique simps and how much we hate Hank McCoy.

Saint Mary’s Loyola residence stands to be tallest solar-integrated tower in North America
There's a green energy construction project going on at Saint Mary's University in Halifax that's making a lot of people look to the sky.
A demolition crew is tearing down the concrete facade of the south-facing wall of the 22-storey Loyola Residence Tower and will replace it with solar panels. Once complete, it will be the tallest solar-integrated building not only in Nova Scotia but in North America.
"We hope that we don't hold that record very long," said Dennis Gillis, the senior director of facilities management at Saint Mary's.
Gillis hopes others will see this solar project as inspiration and an opportunity to build and integrate solar technology on their building’s exterior.
He says other universities and businesses across the country have been inquiring about the solar energy retrofit.
"We want someone else to take that and run with it," said Gillis.
The $8.5 million project is an example of the possibilities of green energy and an essential step in helping reduce the university's carbon footprint.
"It's exciting to be a part of that and to hopefully maybe start and see more universities and buildings in Halifax incorporate these installations," said Selina Adema, a second-year engineering student at Saint Mary's.

Jason Bayer is also an engineering student with an interest in working with solar power projects and photovoltaics.
The 25-year-old says the environment and renewable energy will play a part in all future designs and projects.
"It's very useful to start looking into these things because we may as well harness the energy of the giant beaming ball of gas in the sky," said Bayer.
The Loyola Tower solar project is the way forward and will help the university reach its climate goal of reducing emissions by 53 percent for 2025.
"I hope it sets a precedent for the creation of new renewable energy resources in the province," said Bayer.
The high-rise residence is home to more than 430 students and the solar installation will provide close to 50 percent of the energy used in the building.
Astrophysics professor Rob Thacker spends a lot of time on the roof of the Loyola Tower, looking through the telescope in the school's Burke-Gaffney Observatory.
From his view, the solar retrofit is not only a creative project that helps tackle climate change, it's part of the university's mandate to be at the forefront of developing green energy solutions.
"When you have the resources of a big institution, you can use those resources in showing people what can be achieved when you put your minds to it," said Thacker. "And when you look for solutions that are cheaper and can be done as part of retrofits, that's a significant and cost-saving way to address climate change.”
The Loyola Tower opened in 1971, and it's expected the solar project will be complete by July. It will generate 100,000 kWh annually, for the residence and campus.

“There’s something about them that I don’t like. What, I don’t know. And I don’t like not knowing.” for ghost!ava
Truth | 16:22
Time of death!au; Ava and Jason tell each other the truth
CW: suicide mention, alcohol tw, SA mention
***
The wind whipped past her with surprising force, though it had no effect on her. Still, Ava couldn’t help the human impulse to shiver at the thought of the chilly Chicago air. She had never truly adjusted to the climate change in her move, nor did she think moving in the first place had been the right choice. Ava wondered deep down if she would still be alive had she never taken the fellowship, if she had never met Connor Rhodes, but she couldn’t answer that for herself. She wouldn’t ever know and that was quite possibly her biggest regret.
“If you think any harder your head will explode.”
“What are you, five?” Ava rolled her eyes at Jason as he materialized beside her, leaning against the concrete ledge she had perched herself on. She knew her companion spent most of his time up there, since his death place wasn’t particularly accessible, but she saw how it impacted him. Jason’s eyes never glanced over the edge and he didn’t make a move to sit beside her or even get any closer to the safety bar. Despite his apparent comfort with the rooftop, he clearly didn’t enjoy the height anymore. It made sense, of course, but it also made him seem much more human to her.
“What are you hyper focused on today, Bekker?”
“Just what-ifs,” she replied, “If I had never moved here, never stepped foot in this damned hospital, would I still be alive?”
“It’s hard to say. I ask myself that a lot,” he admitted, looking up at her. There was a vulnerability in his eyes that made Ava uncomfortable, not because she didn’t want him to be vulnerable with her but because she didn’t know what it meant. He was so calm and reassuring when Ava was brash and impulsive. Jason looking scared and upset wasn’t something she was used to.
“I mean we did this to ourselves,” she sighed a little, “Can we really blame the hospital for that one?”
“I mean, were you suicidal before?”
“Before Gaffney?” Ava found it laughable that she even had to think about it, “Borderline Personality Disorder, Jason. Diagnosed when I was 19.”
“Shit.”
“Makes sense now, doesn’t it?”
“I mean… that doesn’t mean you would have snapped and killed someone — or yourself — if you hadn’t left home.”
“Maybe,” it was hard to think of life going any other way than how it had ended, “What about you?”
“It was med school that did it to me. The transition from school to residency was too much. I wasn’t cut out for any of it and I could see that… I was turning into my father,” neither of them mentioned how Jason’s voice shook a little.
“How so?”
“The drinking. I promised myself years before I wouldn’t ever drink and yet… one hard day and I turned to the bottle and it only got worse. I couldn’t take it anymore, Ava, I just saw myself becoming him. So I ended it, before he could take over.”
“I’m sorry, Jason…”
“Why did you do it?”
“What’s that?”
“Kill Connor’s dad,” was the last question Ava expected and it caused her nonexistent heart to jump in her chest. She hated to even think of that man, relieved she had never seen him in her months in the in between. If she never thought about Cornelius Rhodes again it would be too soon, but she felt like Jason deserved to know the truth.
“I- he was a trigger for me… he was trying to get between Connor and I. My brain, the way it’s wired, I got so paranoid thinking my favourite person would leave me. I hate to say I was obsessed with Connor but that’s how BPD goes sometimes.”
“Is that the only reason?”
Ava knew he could see her holding back, “He- I don’t really know how to say it… Cornelius didn’t have boundaries. He did some stuff to me that brought up not so good memories and I just snapped. It doesn’t excuse what I did, I know that, but he was not a good man, Jason.”
“Oh,” it took a minute but she saw the realization dawn on his face, “Oh, Ava, I’m sorry.”
“I-I didn’t even want to kill him… I would never kill anyone. I was honestly thinking of just offing myself, I don’t know what drove me to administer that laced insulin but it wasn’t just my disorder. I was sick, not evil; tell me you believe that, please?”
“I don’t know who you were when you were living but I believe you,” he answered, “I believe you because this hospital is not kind. It does things… it messes with you.”
“The shadow people?” Ava hated to even bring them up out of fear of them breathing down her neck. She felt their eyes track her every move, following her no matter where she turned.
“Them,” Jason shook his head, “For elusive beings they certainly know how to make themselves known.”
“There’s something about them that I don’t like. What, I don’t know but I don’t like not knowing.”
“There isn’t much to like. None of us know why they’re here or what power the really have, just that they’re in charge.”
“So you don’t even know what you’re warning me against?”
“I just don’t want to see you disappear,” he answered cryptically, “As much as you hate being stuck here, letting the hospital take you completely is a million times worse.”

The Perfect Wedding (2012) || ⭐⭐⭐/5 || Mini Review || Romance/Comedy || "Home for the Christmas holiday, a gay man starts falling for his ex-boyfriend's lover, not knowing that the relationship is a mere pretense."
CW: Recovering Alcoholic.
This is the first Christmas movie I've seen that has a Disabled love interest/protagonist. Gavin is hard of hearing, played by a hard of hearing actor (Jason T Gaffney).
This (like all Christmas movies) was very cheesy. Some moments made me laugh, some moments were very sweet.
I really liked the ending, that transition with the kiss was great.
Unfortunately it's a running theme with Christmas movies that they spend the whole movie building up to getting together and then they're only together within the last few minutes and we don't actually get to see them as a couple. I'd really like more movies that have the characters as an already established couple so that we actually get to have them together the whole movie. 'The Christmas House' did good with that, the gay couple was already married when the movie started, and I'm very excited for the second 'The Christmas House' movie coming out this month, we'll get to see more of them, and this time with their children!

For more than a year after 17-year-old Laquan McDonald was shot 16 times in 14 seconds on a Chicago street by Officer Jason Van Dyke, the Chicago Police Department claimed that McDonald had been assaulting officers Van Dyke, Joseph Walsh, and Thomas Gaffney, forcing Van Dyke to step in and kill him. The police report stated that McDonald was lunging toward Van Dyke with a knife when Van Dyke shot him, and that Van Dyke, Walsh, and Gaffney were “victims” of McDonald. Detective David March, who was assigned to investigate the shooting immediately after it occurred, ultimately deemed it justified. I would say it was the ultimate betrayal of the trust between the police and the communities they are supposed to protect, but that betrayal happens every day in this nation when police kill unarmed Black men. “Do you actually think the police got together and made this up?” This is the rhetorical question people from Black and brown communities are always asked when they claim that police officers lie to protect each other. It is usually asked with at least a hint of sarcasm – we all know the police don’t do that. It is asked by judges, prosecutors, criminal defense lawyers, and community members. And it was asked of the McDonald family.  Then came the video. McDonald veers away from, not toward, the police. He was not slashing his knife at Van Dyke, Walsh, or Gaffney when Van Dyke began firing his weapon. The shooting continued as Mr. McDonald lay crumpled on the street. One might ask why it took prosecutors a year to charge Van Dyke with murder when the video so clearly contradicts the police account. One might ask why the “police as victims” story was the official version of the Chicago police department until the day the video was released more than one year later – especially since they had the video the entire time. (The shooting was on October 20, 2014, and the video was released on November 24, 2015.) On Tuesday, more than two and a half years after McDonald’s killing, March, Walsh, and Gaffney were indicted on state felony counts of conspiracy, official misconduct, and obstruction of justice. They are accused of providing false reports about how McDonald behaved when they encountered him and for working together to avoid interviewing at least three witnesses whose accounts of events would have conflicted with the official police version. March is also accused of failing “to locate, identify, and preserve physical evidence ... including video and photographic evidence.”
