As well as investigating the science of baby geniuses and armchair therapising Alisa and Alistair, we get waylaid by the true titular partners of the episode, the neogenic odd couple – aka a cohabiting Vulture and Scorpion. The trenchcoat economy is back in business, baby.

Alongside a cavalcade of returning plot threads from early seasons, we delve into some of the voices behind the cartoon and briefly flashback to some Silvermane comic stories that do not involve talking babies.

From 2010 to 2012 we were treated to an excellent adaptation of a wide range of Avengers stories in two stunning seasons. Then it was cancelled to make way for a show that was more in line with the new movies in a move that nobody liked.

But MAN how good was this show while it lasted? Now that the MCU has progressed and there are too many Marvel properties for us to catch up on, how does this show look in comparison? In what way is the finale like King of the Hill? And how bad does a relationship have to go before you start eating people? All that and a sprinkle of talk about Avengers comics and the uhhh... a good under-the-radar jonathan sims repression moment has to be simply never mentioning the archivist dreams. I think the first time he says something directly about them is mag 113? just a fleeting mention that his dreams are already full up and probably can't get any spookier. I see no reason why they wouldn't have started as soon as his first live statement, so that's a good [does quick math] eighteen months of extremely distinctive recurring nightmares that he just. never brings up to anyone. sure, one could easily brush those off as normal nightmares for a while, but he must have connected the dots at some point.

Because ouch…

We knew the King in Yellow is incredibly good at elusively and psychologically torturing his victims while in the Dreamlands, and it's insane how obscure this reference to Arthur's past was.
