Our Pet Human
You ignore the filthy fumes sneaking into your nostrils as you use your hands to dig through the piles of trash lying inside the dumpster. You tear open a bag or two as you go, searching for any kind of food you could get your paws on. You ignore the pain forming in your stomach from the lack of nutrients, sweat falling down your forehead as half of your body is hanging inside the compartment. The last meal you consumed was from the company you were transferred to, auctioned off to the highest bidder just for the cycle to repeat.
At the time you were so focused on escaping that you forgot to think about the long term effects like food supply, shelter, clothing, etc. You snatch the half eaten treat and push against the dumpster until you’re on your feet. You shove the delicacy in your mouth quickly before chewing fast, a few crumbs falling from your face. You wipe your mouth using the back of your wrist. You drop your body to the concrete next to the dumpster, pulling your knees under your chin. You lie your arms across as you lean your head over, face resting against your legs.
You reminisce about the time in which you lived normally when humans were at the top of the hierarchy. Hybrids were a recent creation, only having been a result of an experimentation your species studied. By chance, they were able to manipulate the scientists into believing that they would make the perfect pets. Time went on as the hybrids were bought and sold, mostly by the rich. Once there were plenty out of their cages, they took over by force.
Blood was everywhere as chaos filled the streets. One by one families and individuals who owned the species were slaughtered just as the hybrids figured out their own control system, mimicking the humans idea by selling humans to anyone who’d buy depending on the ‘quality.’ As a human, you could be sold as a pet, servant, maid, heat guide, or even food. You could’ve been sold as anything though after you were caught and switched from country to country, you had enough. You didn’t agree with the idea when humans ruled and you definitely don’t agree with how things are now.
You lift your head slightly before eyeing the bruises and cuts that lathered your arms and legs. There is a medium sized tear on your grimy shirt, displaying some of the marks on your torso. You sigh before brainstorming your next move. Pulled out of your head, you hear footsteps coming near. Your eyes widen as you cover your mouth. You look around swiftly, noticing your lack of escape routes as you use your other arm to tighten the grip around your legs, the feeling of being stuck prominent.
Fuck, why did my stupid ass rest here?
You could only remain stationary as the footsteps grew louder, indicating the close vicinity of the stranger. You make an attempt at making yourself smaller as you scoot closer to the corner where the dumpster and wall meet, your back against the large object as you continue to hold your knees against your chest. You were nervous of the hybrid’s ability to sniff out the prey, hoping that the garbage smell will cover your natural scent.
Your breath hitches as you look straight ahead, the footsteps halting in front of the dumpster, slightly diagonal to where you’re hiding. You hear a low hum before the footsteps return though the sound seems to shrink as a minute passes. You slowly peak from the side of the garbage and eye the figure walking back in the direction they came. You eye his tall torso and broad shoulders, the white leopard printed tail swaying behind him as he slowly strides away, a hand running through his short lilac locks, bringing your attention to the ears that have the same print as his tail.
You release a sigh before turning back into your position, only to release a gasp as sharp blue eyes fill your vision. The pink haired man snatched your arm before you could react, his blonde yet spotted ears falling back as his tail thrashed. His claws pierce your skin which caused a sharp pain to shoot up your arm. He pulls you to eye level as you grimace.
“What do you think you’re doing here, human?” The jaguar says in a language you don’t understand. Your eyebrows furrowed in confusion as you explain, “I don’t understand what you’re saying.”
He stares at you for a moment before a grin reaches his expression. The purple suited man drags you along, following the same path as the leopard from before.
You struggle in his grip as he pulls you along seeming to do no damage as he didn’t release his hold. You gasp as he squeezed your wrist painfully. You pull your other arm back and land a fist on his shoulder before aiming at his head, only for him to dodge it and grab your fist, yanking you to fall on your knees in front of him. He released you before grabbing your chin and pulling you forward as he leaned over.
“Behave.” He states in your language, giving you a stern look. His sharp gaze pierced your soul as you suck your teeth in annoyance.
“Then let me go.” You demand. An eyebrow raised on his face as he smirked.
“We’re gonna fix that mouth of yours.” He released your chin before snatching you by the collar and pulling you along once more. You allow him to act this time, not wanting to push your luck and become his next meal. You’re forced to head towards the large building. Once you enter, your orbs meet with purple.
“Hm. I thought I smelled a pesky little vermin.” A sly grin falls upon the familiar male’s face as he observes you. You glare at his insult, planning a retort though another hybrid beat you to it.
“All I smell is garbage. Is that where you found this thing, Sanzu?” The male standing to the right of the short haired man, his ears and tail matching that of the taller male. Purple bangs hover over his eyes as he gives you a blank stare, his hands hidden inside of his pockets. You eye the matching symbol on his neck and guess that the two purple eyed men must be siblings. He turns his attention to the pink haired jaguar after the last sentence, his tail hanging low, twitching at the end.
“I brought a gift for Mikey.” Sanzu gives a pleased smile as he walks to the elevator, continuing to force you along as the brothers follow along.
“Shouldn’t you give it a bath first? I’m curious to see it all cleaned up.” The taller man leaned his back against the wall of the elevator. You could only switch your gaze back and forth as you couldn’t decipher their conversation, giving up and turning away with your own arms crossed. After the shorter leopard pressed a button, you felt the room move upward.
Once you make it to the correct floor, you all walk off once the elevator doors slide open. The hand on your collar moves to one of your wrists as you’re guided to a door at the end of the hall, stumbling behind the three pigmented men. Just as the two brothers walked in, Sanzu halts before making an entrance, glancing at you before pursing his lips and turning around, walking in the opposite direction.
“Where are we going?” You question in confusion. He ignored you as you were dragged once more down the hall and back to the elevator.
Once you reach a floor higher, you’re forced out of the elevator as you take in the surroundings of what seems to be a common area. Once he reaches the bathroom, he places his hands on your shoulders and forces you to sit on the toilet. Just as you were about to question him, he walks out, slamming and locking the door behind him.
After a moment of silence, the lock is turned and a human woman walks in. You watch as she walks to the bathtub, turning the faucet on and setting all the necessities in place.
“H-hey I can bathe myself, you know?” You grasp her attention by tapping her shoulder after you had shot up from your seat. You pause when she turns to look at you with bloodshot eyes.
“P-please, just… j-just allow me to complete my task, Ms.” Her voice trembled as she eyed you with pure terror in her eyes.
You eye her for a moment with bewilderment. You observe the scars and bruises you hadn’t noticed when she first walked in. You know that hybrids are usually terrible when it comes to properly caring for the human species. You snarled as your hands turned to fists. You quietly nod and begin to undress once everything is ready.
She gives you privacy as you climb into the large tub, the suds covering your body as you lean against the back of the surface. Although you wished for a shower, you knew anything was better than wearing the same dirty clothes for any longer.
After the process was over, you were guided to a bedroom. Your eyes widen at the display lying on the bed. A black ruffled collar sat on the comforter as well as a black leash. On closer inspection the collar had a mixture of red and black ruffled lace as well as a red heart hanging as the identification tag.
“No fucking way.” You breathe out. You were upset and angry, not having expected any better from the hybrid species but also missed the sense of freedom you had for a while before getting caught once more. You went through so much just to return being some stupid pet for these abominations.
The woman flinched as you snatched the collar and leash, throwing them to the ground and releasing a few curses. You only stopped when you heard a whimper behind you, thinking you had accidentally scared the fellow human you turn your body around only to be met with an unfamiliar male. Your body jolted in surprise.
The man observes the situation as you return the same gaze, eyeing the tiger tattoo that caught your attention, your eyes moving up to his facial features that consist of a beauty mark right under his eye as well as large golden eyes boring into you. His hair falls down, two blonde strands in front of his face and black locks falling behind, slightly covering the tattoo. You glance at the tiger printed ears at the top of his head. He tsked after waving the woman off and slowly shaking his head, walking towards you, his tail high with a small hook at the end.
“That wasn’t very nice. Don’t you think you should be a little more grateful?” He placed his hands in his pockets as he awaits a response, shifting his gaze to the accessories lying on the floor. He crouched down and grabbed the items, placing them back on the bed.
You couldn’t fully read him. He seems as though he is a laid back guy but considering the reaction the other human had, you knew not to push your luck with your words. You knew it could get you in some trouble.
After silence fills the room, he gently taps his lap as one of his ears that stood up slightly twitched. He gives you a smile as he waits for you to move. You look down where his hand is before glaring at his face. You shook your head. An eyebrow raises as a frown falls on his face, his ears slightly pulled back before returning to their placement.
“What’s your name?” You pause in contemplation before answering.
“Y/n.” He hums as he nods. Suddenly, he seizes your wrist before pulling you on top of him, forcing your knees on each side of his lap as your weight sinks on the bed. You eye him with wide eyes as he gazes up at you, arms snaking around your waist as you're forced in place. Your hands meet his shoulders to steady yourself.
“I don’t want to be mean, Y/n.” He starts off, shifting his attention to the collar and leash before turning back to you. “You see, this kind of behavior is unacceptable.” You hold back a shiver as a cold hand places itself under your shirt and on your lower back.
“I’m giving you a chance to take your punishment like the good girl I know you can be.” One of his hands moves to your chin, claws poking your skin. He gives you a closed eye smile before saying, “So don’t test my patience, okay?”
You didn’t know how to respond, not wanting to conform and also not wanting to test this guy’s boundaries. It was at this moment you realized that you have no clue who these hybrids are and what they’re capable of. You gag on the inside as you obey, nodding in response to let him know you’re listening.
“Awe, you’re already being so good for me.” He beamed while caressing your cheek. “How about I let you off with a warning?” You hold back the disgusted look that wanted to fall on your face, thankful that you weren't going to receive whatever he had in store for you.
He grabs the collar before securing it around your neck, as well as hooking the leash. “My name is Kazutora but you’re gonna call me Master anyway. I just want you to know the difference between me and the others.” He pats your thigh before gently pushing you off of him, your feet connecting to the floor.
He pulls you along by the leash, walking to the elevator and entering once the doors opened. After you reach the designated floor, he pulls you down the familiar hall and to the door that the man you remembered to be ‘Sanzu’ hadn’t allowed you to walk into.
Once you enter, you see a long table in the middle of the room, along with six other men sitting at the table. You couldn’t help but feel intimidated when all the sharp gazes shift to you. The aura of the room was suffocating, your instincts kicking in as your body tightened up. You knew just by the look of everyone in the room, you were amongst some of the most dangerous hybrids.
A platinum haired male released a huff, his ears pressed against his head as well as his tail low though twitching at the end. His fingers meet his temple as he rubs along.
“Do you know how much this thing is going to cost to take care of it?” The cheetah hybrid growled, glaring at the pink haired jaguar who smirked in return.
“It’s not like we don’t have enough money, Koko.”
“That’s not the point.” He hissed, fangs bare as his tail slowly thrashed.
“I think it’ll be good having it around” The older Haitani states as he takes a sip of his glass.
“That’s because you only want to fuck it, you don’t have me fooled.” The man with a scar over his eye chuckled, a cigarette hanging outside of the corner of his mouth. You guessed his relation is somehow with the man with scars on his mouth considering the same pattern they have plastered on their ears and tail.
“So what, Takeomi? What else is it good for besides a heat guide?” The younger Haitani questions, one ear flat as the other sticks up as well as his cheek leaning on the palm of his hand. As everyone converses, Kazutora pulls you along to awkwardly stand next to his seat as he sits down at the table.
“It doesn’t matter what any of you think. It’s up to our boss.” The great dane says, a stern look on his face as he sits with a leg crossed over the other. His arms are crossed as he leans against the back of the chair, his black tail still as his ears hang from his head. His heterochromia eyes slanted as a look of irritation crossed his face. Once the boss was mentioned, everyone except you shifted their gaze to the white haired lion that sat at the end of the table.
You had no clue what was going on, having not understood a word though only understanding everyone’s tense body language when you followed their gazes to a short man with dark eyes. He stares ahead as you observe his features, his ears sticking straight up, though from your angle you couldn’t see his tail. Finally, his dark orbs meet yours, catching you off guard and forcing you to look away considering the eye contact.
Before he says anything, the door swings open, revealing a random man who resembles the features of a bear and the human woman you met earlier dragged in by the bicep. You watch with your eyebrows furrowed as he tossed her into the room, her hands stopping her face from meeting the floor followed along with a grunt.
He stood back against the door with his arms crossed as he eyed the situation, awaiting instructions. She trembles against the floor, looking back and forth between the men and you in fear. A look of confusion crossed your face as you watched the display.
“Ran.” The lion says, nodding over to the woman. A smile crossed the tall leopard’s face as his ears and tail perked up.
“Yes, sir.” He says, standing from his seat as an object in his hand is revealed. You eye the silver weapon that seems to get longer after he flicks his wrist.
“N-no, please! I-I’m sorry!” The woman cries out, crawling back as she cowers down. You gasp as the realization clicks on what he’s about to do with the baton.
You make an attempt to run towards her shaking figure, only to be reminded of the collar around your neck as Kazutora yanks your leash back.
“Sit.” He yanks once more, a harsher tug that forces you to fall backwards on your derrière.
“Fuck!” You hiss in pain only for a stinging sensation on your cheek to appear as your head is forced the opposite way. A hand on your chin pulls your face towards his as he leans over in his chair.
“I should hear no bad words coming from that mouth.” He gives you a bored look before returning his gaze to the display. You pant as you look over at the human woman in concern.
“P-please don’t do thi-!” A loud crack echoed throughout the room, followed by another and another along with the woman’s grunts. You stare wide eyed as his arm pulls back before slamming down on the woman’s back. She limps to the ground, barely awake as her body twitches. You watch as blood leaks out of her mouth, oozing on the floor as her head lies down.
He lands another harsh hit to her back using both hands on the handle before landing another once more. Your own hands shake as they reach your ears once you shut your eyes tightly. You hope that it’ll be over soon, though you don’t know if she’ll survive. With a last resounding crack, the purple eyed man finally stops his assault and steps back. He flips the body using his foot though she only fell back into place, the side of her face against the floor as her stomach is attached to the ground.
Just as you opened your eyes and removed your hands, you gaze at her lifeless form. A looming darkness hovers over you as your stomach feels itself drop, bringing your knees to your chest as a few tears begin to fall. Your lip quivers as you observe her still body.
To think that I saw her only just a while ago alive and walking.
Footsteps could be heard in the quiet room, the lion stepping forth and halting when he stood next to the corpse. He crouched down, grabbing the collar of her shirt and standing up, her body hanging from his hold. The platinum haired male shifted his gaze to you.
“Let this be a lesson, Y/n.” You glared when he dropped the body and walked to his seat.
“Dismissed.”
You stared at the bowl sitting on the floor from where you sat in the dining room of their shared penthouse. It was supposed to be a full human meal but resembled the containers of wet food you’d get for your regular cats you had before the take over. This was a common way for hybrids to feed their humans. It depends on the owner whether or not you’re allowed to eat with your hands.
“Why are you not eating, Y/n?” Ran questions from where he sits on the chair next to you. Looking up at him and back to the bowl, you frowned.
“I can’t eat like this.” In fact, you never had to before. When you were with the initial abductors they would just throw a bowl in the cages but wouldn’t stay to watch so you’d just eat with your hands like a normal human.
“You’re lucky to be fed at all.” Rin rolled his eyes as he grabbed your bowl.
Ran tsked before leaning over, catching you off guard and pulling your body onto his lap. Rin passed the bowl to his brother and leaned back in his seat, using a lighter to burn the end of a blunt before setting it to his mouth.
You look at Ran with wide eyes as you shift uncomfortably on his lap. His chest rumbled from his deep chuckle.
“Don’t be so rude, brother. The kitty only wanted to be fed.” Your face heats up in embarrassment.
“That’s far from what I wanted!” A harsh smack on your thigh caused you to wince.
“Do we need to buy a muzzle for it?” Rin questioned as he pulls another hit before blowing the smoke out in your direction.
“That wouldn’t be a terrible idea.” Ran says as he uses chopsticks to pick up a piece of your food, bringing it to your lips.You hesitate out of pride, turning your head in the process as you couldn’t shake the feeling of humiliation.
“Should I use my baton?” Ran questions you. The memory of what the woman went through earlier crossed your mind, causing a shiver to slither up your spine before you parted your lips. Bringing his chopsticks to your lips once more, you opened your mouth wider to give better access before closing your lips around the utensil.
It had been a few weeks since you were taken in by Bonten as a pet. You lie still as you eye the ceiling, laying on your designated palette next to Mikey’s bed. Although you were able to adapt, you still couldn’t get used to their unpredictable and violent ways. At least you knew what you were getting when you were at the company before.
The contrast between some of their treatment and punishments were unsettling. Not to mention how demeaning it is to be treated as some animal when only just a few years back you lived a normal life. You look down and eye the fresh marks on your skin, remembering the baton making contact with your dermis as well as Sanzu using his katana. Kazutora usually spanks you and you’d think it wouldn’t be so bad, yet his hand uses so much force that it’s actually quite painful and makes it hard to sit for long periods of time.
Rin finds various ways to discipline you such as forcing you to kneel in rice, popping a joint or two out of place before popping it back, etc. You haven’t angered Mikey yet and fortunately the others leave you be so you don’t see them much at all.
“Y/n.” A voice took you out of your thoughts and caused you to eye the bed. “Come.”
Your eyebrows furrow at the demand. You’ve never been allowed in anyone’s bed up until this point so the command threw you in for a loop. Slowly sitting up, you picked yourself off of the floor and climbed on the bed, your own eyes meeting closed lids before you’re pulled into an embrace.
Your back meets Mikey’s chest as you both lay fetal position, him spooning you. You could only stare wide eyed across from where you lay when you felt a rumble, hearing a pur near your ear as his tail wraps around your thigh. Time passed before you both fell into a deep slumber, creating the unsaid habit as the cycle repeats.
A few months pass and a new human gets hired as one of the staff who are used to clean, cook, and complete the everyday tasks at hand. Because the majority of hybrids you were around, there were very few humans. Having been exhausted with your circumstances, you became a close friend to the new guy, creating a bond that you haven’t felt in a long time. Whenever the ‘masters’ would go on a mission, you’d be left on your lonesome until you would untie yourself from the post and leave your spot.
You would search for your friend, Eiichi until you found him and would help the male clean faster so you both could hang out as normal people, something neither of you had done in a long time. You began to spend so much time together that you would find yourself smiling at nothing whenever he was away, having to explain yourself as a result of your odd behavior, usually coming up with a lie.
You enjoyed each other’s company so much that you decided to brainstorm an escape plan together, ready to escape this world and live off grid. It was wishful thinking but the sooner you left this penthouse, the better. As you both leaned over the counter, caught the other’s eye as you stared for a moment. It had been a while since you had received genuine care from another human being. The gap in between both of you almost came to a close until you were yanked back by the collar of your shirt.
“So dirty.” The jaguar hissed before quickly stabbing Eiichi’s hand against the counter using a dagger. The human male yells out in pain as you’re grabbed by the neck and lifted from the floor. Rin’s eyes narrow as a smile appears on his face along with his ears flat against his head. His tail thrashes around violently.
“I just needed an excuse to go harder on you.” He says as you struggle to unwrap the fingers that are blocking your airway. Your feet dangle in the air as you hear another blood curdling shriek from Eiichi as Sanzu twists the weapon in the wound while glaring at the weaker man.
“Who said you can touch what belongs to Bonten, you fucking rat?” Sanzu growled before his claws protruded, pulling his arm back and slicing through Eiichi’s back.
Eiichi released a howl of agony as he leaned over the counter, his other fist connecting to the surface as his own nails dug into the palm of his trembling hand. Tears stream down his face as he looks up in your direction.
“L-let her go!” He grunts, his head hovering over his bloody hand. You struggle harder and you lose more air, your vision blurring out gradually as your body weakens.
“Since when did you call the shots?” Rin questions before he walks to where he’s standing across from Eiichi in a closer space. He released your neck, allowing you to drop. He snatches your waist before you could fully fall on the ground, coughing and chasing your breath. He eyes Eiichi before grabbing your chin harshly and forcing your lips to meet his. Your eyes widen as Rin’s other hand wraps around your bruised neck once more though to pull you into the kiss closer.
Once he was finished roughly kissing your lips, he moved the hand on your neck to the back of your head and wrapped the other arm around your waist, moving his head down your neck as you quietly pant while avoiding eye contact with the other men. You would’ve bit him if it wasn’t risking your life. His lips leave a tingling sensation to linger on each spot of your skin his mouth assaults. He stares Eiichi in the eyes the entire time, who could only stare back in agony and anger.
“See that?” Sanzu whispers near Eiichi’s ear. “See how she's taking it?”
When the human didn’t respond, Sanzu twisted the dagger once more before snatching it out, causing a drawn out grunt to leave Eiichi’s lips. You try to pull back but Rin’s hold was painfully tight.
“Answer me.” He hissed, his ears falling back as his tail mocked Rin’s thrashing. Eiichi nods violently, followed by a desperate, “Yes!”
“What’s going on here?” A voice came from the elevator, Ran walking in as well as Kazutora walking behind with their ears perked up. They had on amused expressions, staring at the display as they walked towards the busy executives.
“Tell em.” Rin demands looking into your eyes while your noses almost meet, pulling you back just enough to shift your gaze to the tiger and leopard.
“W-we were gonna kiss.” You say softly, nervous of the reactions considering how the first two executives responded. Kazutora sighs as Ran walks to the other side of you, opposite of his brother.
“Awe, kitty if you just wanted a kiss why didn’t you say so?” He cooed before leaning over and resting his chin on your shoulder.
“I thought you were a good girl, Y/n.” Kazutora frowns before crossing his arms and walking around the counter to where Eiichi is leaning over.
He uses one hand to grip the back of Eiichi’s collar before pulling his arm back and landing a bone crunching punch on his face, causing the poor human to fall over on the floor, blood splattering everywhere. You gasp as you yell his name before Ran wraps a hand half way under your chin and neck and forces you to look up, your head resting on his chest as he looks down at you.
“All you have to do is ask, Y/n. I don’t mind being the human touch you need.” He chuckled as Sanzu and Kazutora took turns beating and kicking Eiichi. A fist connects with his face as a foot connects with his stomach and so on. The floor is a bloody mess as well as the granite counter.
“Stop fucking hurting him!” You push against Rin’s chest as Ran releases your neck. Suddenly the room goes quiet as a new set of footsteps could be heard entering the room.
The lion eases into the room with a blank look on his face, pondering the display as he motions for everyone to follow. Everyone begins to move towards their boss, you turning around to try and check on Eiichi, only to see Kazutora use Sanzu’s dagger to puncture it through Eiichi’s back. You gasp as you try to break free of the Haitani brother’s hold.
“N-no!” You shriek as tears stream down your face, Rin picking you up in the process and throwing you over his shoulder to force you along.
You all walk onto a large bedroom, one that you haven't seen before. Before you could get a good look, you were tossed on the bed. Mikey took his seat on one of the accented sofas across from the bed. Everyone else stood at attention while waiting for instructions. You made poor attempts to prevent yourself from crying considering the only human friend you had just got murdered by your recklessness.
“Since you found her, do what you will.” Your eyes widen at Mikey’s statement. Before you could react, you felt arms wrap around your waist before you’re pulled in between someone’s legs from behind, sliding you against their chest.
“I’ve been waiting for this moment, Kitty.” Ran whispers before he places kisses against your ear. The rumbling in his chest is evident of a pur causing you to jolt and try to remove his arms, only to get distracted by a force on your chin. Sanzu lowers his face, meeting his lips with yours as he kisses you passionately. His head slightly moves along with his lips as you feel a hand sneaking under your shirt.
Kazutora’s hand slithers up your stomach, using his fingers to caress your healing scars before slowly making his way to one of your breasts, all the while gazing at your face. You feel a squeeze on your thigh by Rin before he slides up to meet your core, only for you to move your legs and close his hand in between your thighs. You yank your head back from Sanzu.
“N-no! Eiichi!” You hear a couple of huffs before Rin tears your legs apart, Kazutora locking one in place with his arm. The older Haitani slides his hand down your thigh before diving into your pants. Sanzu moves a hand to lift your shirt slightly and places his hand on your other breast. You feel a finger sliding against your clit through your panties. It felt so conflicting to be horrified for your own safety, as well as mourning a death all the while feeling a sense of pleasure from the culprits who caused your pain in the first place. You truly didn’t know how to respond besides failing miserably at struggling against their holds.
One of the hands on your breasts disappears just as Sanzu reaches in his pocket. Pulling out a small baggie with a pink pill, he pours it in the palm of his hand before bending over on the nightstand and crushing half of it. He placed one on his tongue before grabbing your chin once more.
“Open up.” He squeezes your cheeks harshly to force your jaw open. He sets the last piece on his tongue before leaning over and connecting the slightly dissolved pill with your own tongue. Tightening his grip, he pulled you forward.
“Swallow it.” He released his tight grasp once you complied. A few minutes pass as they continue their groping, your body feeling the same as before until you begin to feel heavy. You could feel yourself leaning more against Ran as your body falls back.
“There ya go, kitty. Just relax.” His raspy voice purrs along with his finger making slow yet firm circles around your nub. A wet substance slowly oozes out of your vagina as the stimulation causes you to moan quietly. You lean your head back against his chest as sweat beads around the lining of your forehead.
“E-Eiichi…” You whine out as the memories overcome your mind, the drug in your system causing you to feel as though you’re flying through your mind, reliving the moment as tears begin to stream down your face.
“Hey.” You hear a soft voice as a palm covers your cheek, gently forcing you to make eye contact with Kazutora.
“Focus on me.” He all but whispers before he leans in, latching his mouth to yours as his lips move against yours. Feeling drowsy and drawn in, you return the gesture, lost in a trance and only focusing on him. The softness felt really nice against your own lips, the drug intensifying the motion. His thumb caressed your cheek as a purr rumbled from his chest. His claw lightly grazing your skin caused a shiver throughout your body.
You were so focused on the moment with Kazutora that you hadn’t noticed how Rin pulled your pants off or how Sanzu ripped your shirt and even pulled your arms out of your sleeves. You hadn’t realized that you were bare chested and only covered up with a pair of lace panties Kokonoi bought. It wasn’t until you felt movement against your clit once more, as well as something wet against one of your nipples.
Ran switched to rolling your other nipple between his index and thumb causing a shock throughout your body as you felt the pressure build from Rin intricately using his thumb to rub along your clit through your panties, his other hand spreading your left fold to gain better access, and Sanzu flicking his tongue against your nipple while holding it firmly, closing his lips around to give little sensitive pecks as well as sucking the bud.
It was overwhelming. Focused solely on their touches, you hadn’t heard your own moaning. You felt pathetic, coming undone and vulnerability revealed to all these beasts who treat you as though you're below them. It’s embarrassing. Your high made it all the more worse as you began to get distracted with your thoughts causing a bittersweet feeling to take on considering all the hands on you. The movement on your clit halts as a weight on the bed disappears for a moment.
“I’m going to try something.” Rin says as he walks from the nightstand to the bed, your half lidded gaze eyeing the suction vibrator in his hand once Kazutora released your face. Rin sets the object down before removing your panties, getting into position.
“Kinky.” Ran smirked, licking behind the rim of your ear before Rin pulled your body down slightly.
“Alright, Bunny open wide!” Rin beams with a closed eyed mischievous smile.
Kazutora and Sanzu take it upon themselves to pull your legs open wider. Rin leans into position before he presses the button until it reaches a medium setting. Using his index and thumb, he spreads your labia before setting the circular end around your clit. Your body immediately tensed, your hips lifted as your head fell back. You bite your lip as your hands grip Ran’s thighs.
“Damn, that’s so hot.” Rin breathes out, watching more juice flowing out of your vagina.
Mikey felt a tightness in his pants as he sat manspread while leaned back. His hand slowly slides over his own thigh before he palms his bulge, tightening his grip just enough to add a painless pressure to ease his throbbing erection. The whole display of you sprawled out naked between his men while responding to the sensual acts in such a filthy manner is enticingly sweet to his mesmerized yet tired gaze.
Rin removes the vibrator to allow you a small moment of relief, your breathing hard as you pant, limbs trembling. You watch as he turns the setting higher, shaking your head.
“No, no, no! Wait!” He ignored you and set the buzzing end back around your swollen bud. The buzzing sensation connecting with your clit could only be explained as an electrifying stimulation. It’s so intense that your body freezes as your hips lift once more, your nails digging through the fabric covering Ran’s skin as you grunt. Just as you thought it couldn’t get any more intense, the tiger and jaguar hybrids leaned over and latched their tongues against your nipples.
The drug heightened your sensitivity so you could barely think properly, your hips beginning to grind against the toy causing your clit to rub against the inside of the puckered end harder considering Rin moves the vibrator with your motion, meeting the base of your clit with the end of the opening.
“So fucking filthy.” Sanzu hissed after releasing your nipple.
“My king, can I?” His attention shifts to Mikey, awaiting permission to proceed with his request.
“You and Rin.” Mikey states considering they were the two who found her having escaped the bedroom and almost kissing Eiichi.
Ran and Kazutora groan before they pull themselves away from you. Their cocks are throbbing tight against their pants and they’re ready to feel your warmth engulfing them. It’s frustrating but at least it’ll be their turn at some point tonight.
Your body drops back on the bed as Rin removes the vibrator, edging you before setting it on the nightstand. Sanzu repositions you to where he’s lying under you, positioning his cock to your wet entrance. Lifting his hips, he used his hands to guide your hips down, your pussy slowly engulfing his thick girth, both of you releasing a moan as the head reached the g-spot as your thighs hit the base of his erection. The drug felt like an aphrodisiac, making everything feel ten times more intense though you knew that wasn’t its purpose.
He guides you to buck your hips against him slowly so you could adjust to his size to make everything easier. He pressed a hand against your upper back, pulling you to press your breasts against his chest. His legs spread under you, making space for Rin to crouch above you from behind. He rubbed the lube between his fingers against his cock, having already prepared while you and Sanzu became adjusted. You felt a firm pressure entering you from behind, your eyebrows furrowing as you grunt in pain.
“N-no! Take it out! I-it hurts!” You cry out, tears streaming down your face as you angrily fist Sanzu’s chest.
“Shh. Shhh.” He grabbed the back of your hand and placed it against his neck.
“Squeeze when you feel pain.” Your fingers wrapped snugly around his throat. You hadn’t wanted to comply, but the pain was so uncomfortable that you tighten your grip around his neck with a scrunched nose.
“Fuck.” He moans as a red hue appears on his face, his lips apart as his eyes flutter shut. He bit his lip right before thrusting into you deeper. His blue orbs bore into you with a glimmer in his eyes, his claws piercing the skin on your thighs.
His hips lifting caused a contrast between pleasure and pain. Rin pushes deeper as the pain of your tightness eases for him. He groaned before leaning over more and balancing himself against the bed. His hips move back before they push forward, repeating the process as his cock rubbed against your anal walls, creating a stinging fullness that added to the girthy cock inside of your pussy, rubbing along your vaginal walls as well as firmly kissing your cervix.
Your mouth hung open as your eyes rolled into the back of your head, using your legs to help push against their thrusts. Curses, moans, and whimpers echoed throughout the room as well as the rocking of the bed. The men on the side had their own hand wrapped around their cock, leaking because of the display in front of them.
The smacking of skin increases as they speed upthe pace, forming harsher thrusts as they all bring themselves closer to the edge. You couldn’t focus on anything but feeling full and being surrounded by breathy sounds of pleasure. Your eyebrows furrowed as the pit in your stomach rises, biting your lip as you all rutt harder against each other.
“Shit.” Kazutora hissed as his hand reached the base of his cock before pulling his hand around the head and focusing on the stimulation at the tip of his erection.
Ran’s hair falls on his face from sweat, his head lowered with his mouth parted as he rubs his closed hand against his throbbing length. He repeats the motion at a steady pace before speeding the process. Mikey has one hand flat on the base of his cock while the other one grips his girth, rubbing up and down but in a circular motion at a slower pace.
Finally reaching your peak, you felt the rise fall as your body convulsed, orgasming hard as a loud moan left your mouth. The men follow not long after, their loads releasing as they press themselves deep inside you before riding out their orgasms, moaning near your ears as they breathe heavily.
The men on the sidelines shot ropes as their own bodies tensed, rubbing out their orgasms as they made a mess on their own pants. Curses could be heard throughout the room as they finished up, their cocks re - erecting not long after.
“Y/n.” Mikey says as he pants. “Come clean me up.”
The night continued on as you had orgasm after orgasm from the men taking their turns with your body. The night was heavenly for your fix in the moment, lapping up the attention and pleasure desperately. It wasn’t until your collar was hooked around your neck, followed with a cuff on your ankle that you realized the reality of your placement here. It reminded you of how much of a worthless animal you are to them.
Who knew that one night of passion could turn into multiple nights of you becoming some drugged up sex toy for their own pleasure. Their heats were the worst, becoming so rough with you as if they’re releasing their pent up rage. You couldn’t stop thinking of Eiichi. The way he made you feel normal again and the haunting memory of how he died. You found yourself more and more depressed and eager for a chance of true release.
A year passed and there was a night where you found out about a type of drug from one of the human staff members. It used to be a legal medication specifically made for cat hybrids to consume and become less aggressive and more docile. It also helped them fall asleep faster. Whenever you received the medication, you gave it to the human cook you became friends with who dropped a pill in each of their drinks during dinner before they made it back.
When they consumed the drug, it was quite entertaining. You sat on the couch in the living room instead of the floor while Mikey rubbed his face against your neck as he straddled you, nuzzling against your skin with his ears forward. Sanzu sat beside you sniffing the opposite side of your neck, ears straight up as he licks the skin. You feel Kazutora nuzzling against one of your legs with his arms wrapped around the limb. Ran is knocked out next to you, sleeping in a fetal position with his feet closest to you, tail lying over his own hip. Rin sits with his legs wrapped around your other leg while licking the skin on the back of his hand, grooming himself.
You couldn’t help but chuckle at their clinginess though when you realized your reality you began to think that there was nothing funny about this situation. You called one of their oblivious guards, who thought they just took a new drug they had provided themselves, to walk in to help you remove themselves so everyone can go to bed. When the hybrid snake tried to grab your arm, Mikey’s eyes sharpened before he hissed and used his claws to scratch the snake’s face. His tail rattled in response as he hissed in pain, his hands holding his bloody face as you eye the display in bewilderment.
This will definitely make it easier to escape.
Ran woke up from the commotion just as all of the cats bared their fangs ready to attack as their tails thrashed and ears flattened on their heads. Narrowing their eyes they all dash away from their spots, pouncing on the guard as he yells out in pain. You eye the display but don’t bother to help, waiting patiently as they finish though you look away from the disturbing scene and cover your ears. After they slaughter the man to death, they sleepily walk away, walking with you as you guide them to each of their bedrooms.
After all was done, they were knocked out cold from the drug. You gathered a random bag with necessities and threw the collar you had set on the nightstand in a trash can. You climbed out from the back of the first story’s window, beginning the journey to your new life.
The next day came crashing for the men, Sanzu being the first to know of your absence. Chaos reigned throughout the morning meeting as they took their rage out on irrelevant staff members and guards, wreaking havoc on those who let you slip from their radar. The other executives only stared at the display with blank looks as they watched, only thinking about their next move to find you for the sake of their boss’s and fellow executives’ sanity.

cw: minors dni. smut implied but not detailed. you and yuuta are on a working vacation overseas. fem!reader. yuuta and reader are married. a/n: yeah idk. anyway stream risk by victony pls.
You know exactly what you’re doing, and perhaps Yuuta knows too, but he falls in this trap every time anyway - the smooth skin of your bare back exposed as you lay on the beach loungers flat on your belly is like a siren call for him, and he approaches quietly, footsteps naturally soft, and kneels close, pressing his lips softly between your shoulder blades.
“Hey.”
The harsh Equatorial sun has finally abated, and there’s a dry heat around and a hotter, wetter one naturally between the two of you. Yuuta’s returned with grilled suya, butter pear and corn instead of ordering room service and it’s still steaming, posed on the hotel suite’s kitchen table, but he’s more preoccupied by a different meal. You smile to yourself pleased, turning your face towards him as he nips gradually lower, until he's at the skin just above your bathing suit bottoms, and reach out to him before his tongue can loop beneath the flimsy fabric and get too ahead of himself.
“You’re back so soon!”
Your eyes are bright as you meet his gaze. He smiles and takes your outstretched hand, and as you scoot over, rolling onto your back, he finds a seat in the available space, eyes flitting between yours and your exposed breasts.
“I’m pretty resourceful, turns out,” he muses. You nod, pretending to sniff the air dramatically.
“I felt bad sending you out on the streets again, but I don’t think there’s anything you can’t do easily,” you bat your eyelashes, wrapping your arms around his free arm and pulling him towards you. You’re being excessively coquettish but sometimes you feel like he needs it, to know that he’s appreciated for everything he does endlessly for you. Plus today was a rough day - the two of you had just come back from the countryside early in the AM after a particularly bloody exorcism back in a village near your hometown, just as you promised your parents you would, and still haven’t completely adjusted from the jet lag of moving across the globe for this particular excursion. Yuuta, despite his natural dark circles, seemed to be somehow more resistant to the lack of sleep than you were and far too willing to venture out even alone for a meal.
The hotel you’re in is geared towards people who come with currency with far too high exchange rates and you’re taking full advantage of that this week, with plans to lounge on the balcony with the windows open as long as possible, dip in the pool, eat as much street food as you can physically manage until you miss Japanese food again. Most importantly you plan to spend as much time sucking face with your husband as possible.
God knows the two of you have needed a vacation.
Yuuta’s hungry for something and it has nothing to do with dinner. The two of your faces are just inches apart and it doesn’t take long for there to be no space between your breast and his palm, and his leg to find its way between the two of your practically bare ones.
You pretend to barely notice as he plays with your nipple, the obvious want in his eyes louder than whatever he’d say out loud in the next few moments, and continue talking.
“I’m surprised no one’s stopped you carrying that sword all around town.”
Yuuta blows air gently from his nose, amused.
“It’s probably no different from carrying around a cutlass. At best I look like a farmer, at worst a gang member, either way no one’s going to bother me.”
He shifts downwards and soon his mouth is level with the pert nipple he eventually takes in his mouth. You try to stifle a moan, given that you’re still technically outside, even if it’s late, you’re high up enough that likely no one can hear you.
“Not with that sketchy aura of yours,” you tease, but the last part comes out slightly breathless as he bites with gentle pressure. His eyes dart up towards you.
“Sketchy?” he raises an eyebrow, and your stomach flips like an omelet. Before you can say anything to redirect your tone, he’s slipped a finger down that cursed bikini hem and taps at your clit. You shudder, and he takes that as a queue to take his shirt off with his free hand, a move that’s oddly graceful for a generally subdued man.
Yuuta is oddly bold when he wants to be, with the unintentional gravitas of a man who has enough ability that he doesn’t need to prove his worth to anyone.
Letting a leg pass over you so that he’s straddled you on the lounger, he watches you for consent, and the soft anticipatory look in your eyes and the part of your lips say yes for you.
Fingers curl in and out of you until your legs pull into your body and the sounds of your own pleasure are too much to suppress. Shooting straight up before you can let out too embarrassing of a mewl, you gasp out,
“Inside, let’s go inside!”
Your voice is flustered enough that it brings a smile to his cheeks, and he’s quick to carry you into his arms and bring you inside as you please.
A gentle toss on the bed, and the two of you are back at it, your legs wrapping around his, and your bottoms nowhere to be found. You kiss hungrily, among the aroma of spices and the salty breeze of the coast wafting towards the slow swaying curtains, the taste of each other’s lips more intriguing than any overly generous auntie’s meal.
Less exposed to the elements, you cry out freely, your doting man happy to squeeze out as much pleasure from you, hands on your face, chest, hips, thighs… you hold him impossibly close to you, taking each thrust as ministrations, each kiss and exhale as worship.
Your fingers intertwine, your toes curl as he wears you out.
And when it’s all said and done, you’re curled up in bed, legs weary as you feed each other with your hands.
A little bit of bliss. You kiss the salt and oil off his lips and press your nose to his.
“I need to stop making you do all the work,” you joke.
“I think you do enough,” he replies back, sweat glistening on his skin, the flush of his cheeks evident. You run your fingers through his hair, sticky dark locks pushed back and caress his cheek.
“Not just sex, the exorcisms too.”
He tilts his head and you continue.
“You and Rika do all the work, and I just do some prayers and sprinkle some sand,” you joke, your foot sliding down the side of his leg. He lets his hand rest on your thigh.
“Nothing wrong with doing what you can,” he offers, and the sincerity in his voice, like usual, is almost disarming. “Let me take care of you.”
With that he’s taken your hand in his and kisses the back of it.
Your heart flutters, and you wonder if he’s willing to do one more thing for you -
And that’s enthuse you with a round 2.

Previous Chapter | ao3
A Bento for Kento Masterlist
-------------------
One week after their last lesson together, Nanami receives a call from Ren.
“Hello, mentor!” His cheery voice rings through the phone.
“Nakamura, is everything alright?”
“Yeah, why wouldn’t it be?”
“Because I told you to only call me in an emergency.”
“Is that what you said? Oops, sorry,” he replies, not sounding sorry at all. “Did I catch you at a bad time?”
Nanami glances down at his bare chest, towel wrapped around his waist, steam filling up the bathroom from the hot shower that’s already running. “I was just about to hop in the shower, so yes.”
Ren snickers. “Oh oops, that is bad timing! Sorry to catch you while you’re naked.” He emphasizes that last word in particular.
In the background, Nanami hears a woman’s voice yell, “Ren! Stop!”
It’s her. Is he blushing or is it the steam from the hot water? Either way, his cheeks are warm all of a sudden. He clears his throat nervously. “Nakamura, what is this about?”
Ren calms down from his fit of laughter. “Well, my sister wants to ask you out –”
There are sounds of shuffling on the other end now, as if someone is yanking the phone away from Ren. “Hello, Nanami?” Her voice is clear this time as she speaks directly to him.
His breath hitches before he manages to say her name in return.
“What Ren meant to say is that we would like to invite you to go to a street food festival with us. Tomorrow night.”
There’s a flutter in his belly. A food festival. With her. It’s a dream come true. He doesn’t respond right away, too giddy to formulate coherent sentences.
“Hello? Nanami? Are you still there?”
“Yes, I’m here. I would love to go.”
This time, he hears her breath catch. Is she smiling? He imagines her smiling, glorious and bright, just as he remembers from the last time they met. “Okay! I’ll have Ren send you the address to my house. We can meet here tomorrow at 6:00 and walk there together.”
“Sounds good. I really have to go now. My shower is running and I’m still very naked.”
She giggles. “Okay! Well, I hope you and your naked body have a great shower, see you tomorrow, bye!” Before the line clicks, he hears Ren groan in the background, yelling, “Gross!”
Even after she hangs up, Nanami still holds the phone against his ear, shocked. Did that really just happen? He finally sets it down and hops into the shower, processing this recent turn of events. She invited him to a street food festival. She’s giving him the address to her home. And she’s thinking of his naked body…
He smiles, letting the water trickle down his face.
It’s a date.
~~~
You chuck a pillow at Ren’s face as he stifles his laughter. “I can’t believe you said that!”
“He told me he was very naked! I didn’t know what else to say!” you exclaim, embarrassed.
He grimaces. “Ugh, can we please just stop saying the word naked? I admit, I started it, but I didn’t think it would lead us here.”
“Agreed.”
You sit on the couch next to him, leaning your head back, remembering the most recent encounter with Nanami from last week. After you had your moment with Nanami, Ren let out a huge burp that quickly brought you back to reality. You watched as Nanami devoured your food happily, giving you compliments from time to time about each dish.
The chicken is fried to perfection and it’s so flavorful.
Tuna mayo rice balls are my favorite.
I thought my tamagoyaki was good, but yours is far superior.
Then, Ren suggested you get a crash course on Jujutsu Sorcery from none other than Nanami himself, which you reluctantly agreed to, at first. When he started lecturing you about cursed energy, using the whiteboard to jot down notes and little sketches, you couldn’t help but fantasize about him being your professor and you being his naughty student…
Since that day, you couldn’t stop thinking about him.
Ren always mentions how serious and boring he is, but those are the last words you’d use to describe him. He is passionate. Passionate about helping others. Passionate about teaching. Passionate about food. He is captivating. His smile, the way he speaks, the way he looks at you like you’re the only person in the room. What is he like when he’s not at a desk? Or when he’s not dressed in a suit with a briefcase in hand? What are his interests, his hobbies, his pet peeves, his favorite foods?
You’re determined to know more. You hope he’s willing to show you.
That Saturday, Ren suggests you bake chocolate chip cookies as a small treat before heading to the festival. Being the doting big sister you are, you oblige. You pop them into the oven as you get ready in your room. The outfit you choose to wear is a simple one: A boho style floral dress with matching sandals. You study yourself in the mirror, confident and comfortable in your attire.
Ren approaches you in the kitchen after you finish getting changed. “Okay sis. I think it’s time I have the big brother talk with you.”
Confused, and slightly amused, you say, “I don’t think that’s how this works, bud.”
He grabs your shoulders with both hands, expression serious. “No, I need you to listen to me for the next minute, okay?” Concerned now, you nod at him.
“I say this with all my heart. You are one of the best people I know. You deserve the world. No, you deserve the universe. And as much as I like Nanami, if he so much as hurts you or makes you feel inferior in any way, I will track him down and teach him a lesson, if you catch my drift.”
You face relaxes. “Sure, pal, whatever you say.”
“I’m serious!”
You pinch his cheek. “You really are the sweetest, Ren. But you have nothing to worry about! Nanami and I aren’t dating. We’re all just going to a festival together. Nothing is happening between us.”
“Oh please, I see the way he looks at you. There’s tension. It’s only a matter of time before he confesses his undying love for you,” he says, tongue sticking out in disgust.
“He won’t. Someone like Nanami would never fall for someone like me.”
“Oh please, Nanami would be so lucky to be with you! And besides, as gross as it is to see you two weirdos flirt with each other, I think you and him would make a great couple, a power couple! Like cookies and milk! You’re the cookies because you’re sweet and he’s the milk because he’s basic.” He chuckles at his own joke.
Grinning, you say, “Thanks for the pep talk, booger. I love you.”
He squeezes your shoulders. “I love you too, sis.”
The alarm for your cookies goes off at 5:45, fifteen minutes before the time you told Nanami to meet. You take the cookies out of the oven, letting them cool, waiting for his anticipated arrival.
~~~
Nanami checks his phone. 5:58 PM. He stands outside a quaint house, stalling. Tonight, he decides to wear a dark blue polo shirt with khaki shorts, no glasses. It’s his casual outfit, at least for his standards.
Two minutes later, 6:00 on the dot, he knocks on the front door. He hears movement on the other side, someone scrambling to put their shoes on. Then, Ren yell out, “Hey sis, he’s here! Hurry up!”
The door opens, a bright grin plastered on Ren’s face. “Mentor!”
Nanami greets him with an equally polite expression. “Hello, Nakamura.”
He motions for him to come in. As soon as he walks through the door, a delectable scent fills his nostrils. The whole house is brimming with this mouth-watering smell.
“My sister is just putting the cookies on a plate; she’ll be ready to go soon.”
Nanami looks around until his eyes land on the kitchen. It’s like a scene from a movie. Sunlight streams through the kitchen window and shines on her like a spotlight. She’s holding a plate of freshly baked chocolate chip cookies in one hand, waving at him with the other. The floral dress she wears makes her look celestial. And there’s that smile. That gorgeous, stunning smile. The one that sets his heart racing, his cheeks burning, his skin tingling.
She’s basically a princess. Maybe even an angel. Has he died and gone to heaven?
“I hope you like cookies, Nanami! It’s our pregame before the main event,” she giggles. It’s music to his ears.
“It smells wonderful,” he comments, smiling.
“Here, try one.” She passes a hot cookie to him. He’s tempted to eat it directly from her hand, as if she’s feeding him, but he exercises all his willpower to resist doing that.
It’s still warm, the chocolate chips melting lusciously against his fingertips. He takes a bite and it’s exactly how he expects it to be: perfect. Chewy, buttery, chocolatey perfection. He really is in heaven. “Wow,” is all he can say.
She grins proudly. “That good, huh? I’m happy you like it.” He wants to make her smile like this all the time.
He savors the rest of the cookie in silence, licking his fingers clean when he’s finished. He catches her watching him with a vague look on her face. Gazing at her, he flirtatiously tilts his head to the side. “All done.”
He revels in the expression she's giving him now. Is she nervous? Apprehensive? Turned on? Whatever it is, there's electricity in the air between them. And Nanami is all in.
Ren clears his throat and says, in an irritated tone, “Okay, okay, enough. Let’s go.” He grabs three cookies from the plate and leads the way out the door, the other two following close behind.
~~~
The street food festival is only a ten-minute walk from your home, the same one you and Ren attended the night he told you all about Jujutsu Sorcery. Your brother walks slightly ahead, munching on the treats as he listens to his music through his headphones. Nanami is beside you, his body so close that he brushes against your elbow with every swing of his arms.
“What kind of food are you looking forward to trying tonight?” you ask.
“I like Takoyaki and Yakisoba. And Taiyaki, of course. Ren told me that you also like that?”
“Yes! I love it! The last time we went, they were selling it with soft serve, but we were too full to try. We should definitely get it tonight! They also sell Yakisoba-pan. I’m sure you’d like that.”
“How do you know I would like that?” He nudges you, playfully.
“Because of your addiction to bread.”
“And how do you know about that?”
“Okay, don’t make fun of me, but I looked you up on the Internet.”
Nanami eyes you, curious, waiting for you to elaborate.
“Before you make any assumptions, this was before Ren told me all about you, I needed to make sure you weren’t sketchy!”
Amused, he asks, “So what did you find out about me?”
“You used to work as a stockbroker at this finance company I always forget the name of.”
“That is correct. And the name isn’t important,” he comments with a wave of his hand.
“You like cooking and reading.”
“Don’t forget eating. And drinking,” he smirks. “What else?”
You think for a few seconds before answering, “You like helping others. That’s what your bio said. But I see that myself because of how you are with Ren. You helped him so much this summer. He really looks up to you.”
There’s a serious expression on his face as he replies, “He shouldn’t look up to me. I’m just doing my job.”
You lean towards him to give him a little tap. “You’re too humble. You are a good person, Nanami.”
He stops walking and turns to face you, staring directly into your eyes, gaze intense. “You don’t really know me yet. I can be bad when I want to be.” One side of his mouth curves up into a devious grin.
Your throat is dry all of a sudden. There’s a tingling below your belly. You like this. This is much different than the first time you met him. He barely spoke a word to you then, and now he’s being so bold. So brazen.
“I think we can all be a little bad sometimes,” you say, quietly.
“I disagree. I don’t think you have a bad bone in your body.”
“You don’t really know me yet, Nanami. I can be bad when I want to be.” You give him a wink as you recite his words back to him, turning away to catch up to Ren.
~~~
She’s driving him crazy.
His intention is to flirt with her; to be bold and make her flustered. Behind his serious demeanor is charm and wit when the situation calls for it. He does not expect her to reciprocate it, though. He likes it. He enjoys this coy banter they have going on.
He likes her.
They arrive at the festival, air filled with the smokey scent of delicious food cooking. There’s a variety of vendors and festival games scattered throughout. The first stall they encounter sells yakitori. She buys two chicken skewers for Ren and one meatball skewer for herself. Nanami buys a chicken and leek skewer.
“Oh, Jiro just texted me that he’s here at the festival too! He’s getting okonomiyaki. I’ll go find him,” Ren says, grabbing the two chicken skewers from his sister. “Thanks for the yakitori, sis!”
Before he leaves, he looks at Nanami and his sister with a brow raised. “You two kids better behave yourselves!”
“Well, I guess it’s just us two now, Nanami,” she says, smiling. She eats a meatball off her skewer.
“I don’t mind. It gives me a chance to get to know you better.” He takes a bite of his chicken skewer. It’s yummy, perfect balance of umami flavor from the meat and leek, then a touch of sweetness from the glaze.
“Would you like to trade?” she offers, holding up her skewer.
She wants to share food with him?! This is the greatest day of his life.
“Yes,” he responds, passing her his yakitori. An indirect kiss, he thinks, blushing.
She takes a bite, not bothered by the fact that he just ate from the same spot. “Ooohh, it’s tasty! Good choice.”
Nanami tastes the meatball, also delicious. “This is pretty good too. But I will say, your chicken meatballs from a few weeks ago are better.”
She laughs. “You’re just being nice. I can’t compete with professionals.”
“I mean it. Yours are special.” He takes another bite, handing it to her to trade once more. She doesn’t say anything else as she observes him, slowly chewing her food. What is she thinking in that pretty head of hers? She finally breaks the silence, suggesting, “Should we try something else now?”
He nods, letting her lead the way, curious.
For the next two hours, they stroll through the festival, sharing different treats with each other: Takoyaki, Yakisoba-pan that she correctly predicted he would like, chicken wings, giant grilled squid, grilled corn.
As they eat together, they talk about each other’s lives. Nanami finds out she works from home for a local company. He tells her how he didn’t particularly like his job as a stockbroker and how he dislikes being a Jujutsu Sorcerer only slightly less. He recommends a few novels he thinks she would enjoy, and she suggests a list of movies she expects he would like.
They describe to each other what their “perfect day” would be. Nanami’s starts with an entire loaf of freshly baked bread paired with butter and jam, then a long hike somewhere up high with a nice view and a ham and cheese sandwich for lunch. For dinner, he’d go to his favorite Italian restaurant, then he’d end the night stargazing. When she shares hers, he imagines himself spending that perfect day with her, just as he wishes she would do with him.
They talk about their favorite foods, pet peeves, hobbies. There is no shortage of topics, each conversation leading to another, and another. It’s effortless. It feels natural.
Besides confirming that she is, in fact, a sweetheart, he also learns that she is smart, a good listener, and funny. Everything he assumed about her based on the bentos, the notes, and Ren’s constant praise of his big sister is correct. She’s wonderful in every possible way.
It feels like a proper date. Sharing food together, learning more about each other, exchanging flirtatious glances and touches. At one point, she blows on a Takoyaki piece to cool it down and feeds it to him, which he happily accepts. In another moment, he wipes a smudge of sauce from her cheek with his thumb and proceeds to lick it. She responds with a giggle and a bashful, “Thank you.”
After eating savory foods, they move onto dessert. Nanami gets Taiyaki filled with red bean paste and topped with matcha soft serve. She gets the same, except with black sesame ice cream. They sit down at a small picnic table, enjoying their fish-shaped desserts in a comfortable silence.
They haven’t seen Ren since his abrupt departure, and Nanami considers if this was his student’s plan all along. Is he trying to play matchmaker for him and his sister? And does he approve of if? Although he’s an adult who doesn’t need permission from a child to date another adult, he respects Ren and wouldn’t want to do anything that might make him uncomfortable.
As if she read his mind, she says, “Ren said we’d be good together.”
Nanami chokes on the last piece of his pastry. “What?”
Avoiding his gaze, she hides her face by turning to the side. “Sorry to be so forward. I just think it’s worth mentioning. In case you feel the same way as I do.”
His mind is racing. She likes him. He’s speechless. his brain short-circuiting from excitement and glee.
“Oh no, do you not feel the same way? I just thought we were having a good time, but maybe I misread things. Just forget I said anything." She buries her face in her hands, groaning.
He does feel the same way. She hasn’t misread anything. He has to do something to show her that. He scoots close to her, knee brushing hers underneath the floral dress. He’s blushing excessively, he can’t even look her in the eyes without combusting. He whispers her name, staring down at the ground. “I like you. I want us to keep seeing each other. I want more days like this.”
He finally finds the courage to meet her gaze. “I can’t remember a time I’ve ever felt this way about anyone.”
~~~
Your heart is beating so fast you’re afraid it might burst any second. It doesn’t help that you have been eating non-stop this whole night. But it was definitely Nanami’s confession that has you on the verge of cardiac arrest.
He wants to keep seeing you. He likes you.
His arm rests on the edge of the picnic table behind you, his other hand placed on your thigh. He caresses his thumb against the fabric of your dress, leaning closer to you. Dark brown eyes meet yours, seeking permission. Waiting. You can feel his shallow breaths tickle your skin, sending shivers along your spine. You smile, closing the gap. Lips brush yours gently, sweetness lingering from the dessert. He kisses you softly, carefully, with eyes closed. His arm behind you moves and suddenly you feel his palm on your face, thumb brushing ever so slightly against the skin of your cheekbone. The cacophony of festival sounds fades into the background. The only noise you hear now is your own heartbeat. Or is it his? Maybe it’s both.
He's holding back, which excites you. The way he’s touching you, as if you’re his fragile toy that he doesn’t want to break, so delicate and tender. You want so badly to give in, but you realize you’re still in public. Worst of all, Ren is roaming around here somewhere. The last thing your poor baby brother needs to see is his sister and mentor going at it on a picnic table.
Reluctantly, you slowly pull away and open your eyes. He’s already looking at you with a dazed expression. You lay your hand over his, the one resting on your thigh. He entwines his fingers with yours and holds you in a firm grip. You let out a small huff and giggle, foreheads touching, both of you in a state of bliss.
“Don’t laugh like that,” he breathes out, shutting his eyes again.
“Why not?”
“I won’t be able to control myself if you keep doing that.” He clenches his jaw, restraining himself from whatever wicked desires are running through his mind. “You have no idea what you do to me.”
God, he is hot. Why did you stop?!
Your phone starts ringing, startling you. Letting go of his hand, you open your purse to retrieve it. As you rummage through your bag to find it, he leans onto the table with his left elbow, watching you, right palm back on your leg, inching closer to your inner thigh. He’s driving you crazy.
You answer your phone, voice trembling slightly from being flustered. “Hello? Ren?”
“Hey! Jiro left and I’m stuffed. Where are you guys?”
As you speak, you rest your hand on top of Nanami’s. He takes it, lifting it up to his lips, placing soft kisses between your knuckles.
You’re dead, deceased. Sent straight to heaven or whatever afterlife you believe in. This is paradise.
“Umm…we’re just sitting here at the picnic tables! Where, umm, where are you?” you stutter into the phone.
“I just got cotton candy, so I’m walking towards the tables now.”
You let out a small squeal and blurt out, “Okay, okay, see you soon!”. You hang up and quickly pull your hand from Nanami’s lips, which were just pressed to your wrist. He pouts at the sudden loss of touch.
“Ren is on his way,” you tell him, guilty.
Nanami smirks. “Okay.”
You eye him suspiciously. “What? Why are you giving me that look?”
“It’s nothing. Just thinking.”
“You better behave when Ren gets here,” you warn him.
“As long as he’s not a mind reader, we’ll be fine,” he responds, that coy grin still on his face.
All you want to do is pounce on him. You stand up to distance yourself in case he does something else swoon worthy.
Ren arrives, carrying a giant cotton candy shaped like a flower. He’s already bitten through some of the outer layer, mouth is covered in blue food coloring. “Hey guys! Did you eat a lot of tasty treats?”
“Yeah, we’re stuffed!”
Nanami clears his throat, smiling. “Yes. I’m very happy.”
It’s dark now as you start your ten-minute journey home. This time, all three of you walk side by side with each other, Ren to your left, Nanami to your right. Ren chats about all the different foods he tried with his neighborhood friend. You and Nanami listen as your knuckles brush against each other, craving any form of physical contact.
You reach the front door of your home, disappointed that the night is over and it’s time to say goodbye. You turn towards Nanami, commenting, “This was really fun. Thank you for joining us today.”
“It was my pleasure,” he replies, standing there awkwardly. It doesn’t seem like he wants to say farewell yet, either.
“Okay, I get it! I’ll head in first, geez.” Ren grabs the keys jingling in your hands and unlocks the front door, leaving you and Nanami to stare at him, confused. Stepping inside, he turns around with a smug expression on his face. “I guess my plan did work after all. I’m happy for you two.” He gives a final wave before shutting the door closed.
You and Nanami look at each other and laugh. The distance between you closes as you wrap your arms around his neck, his hands sliding around your waist. His eyes linger on your lips before he leans down to kiss you.
~~~
As they kiss, lips soft and sweet, he remembers the first note he received from her, not that long ago. The note that wasn’t meant for him but still meant everything to him. The note that flipped his world upside down. The tightness in his chest, the butterflies in his stomach, the longing he felt to meet this woman. And now she’s here, in his arms, completely captivating every fiber of his being.
The world is a better place with you in it. Always remember that.

"quiet places you can get to without a private vehicle" sounds like a perfect idea for Taipei recs! Do you have any tips for a tourist navigating their way from Taipei towards the south without speaking any Chinese, armed only with a smile and a desire for tasty foods? (I am hoping for some easy hikes while based in Chiayi & Miaoli, weather permitting - never know if I packed proper clothing, aaahhh~) (anon #1 here, thank you once again, have a great day ^^)
Some years ago I hitchhiked around the south of Taiwan with pretty beginner Mandarin, didn't know that "你吃了嗎 / have you eaten?" was an alternate form of greeting, and found myself taken out to lunch by an old guy who spoke zero English when I said no! If you look like a friendly foreigner, you will get around just fine (a European friend of mine in a similar condition visited last year and managed to eat plenty of things by just pointing, which I have also found to be a successful tactic while abroad). In addition to being the place where hand gestures work well, many night markets have multilingual signage (as do a lot of restaurants in Taipei). Just remember to bring cash, a lot of places still don't take card. Fruit and veg shops are a fun place to explore. Buffets (自助餐) are popular in Taiwan, and a good way to try a lot of different things without having to read a menu. Sometimes they're pay by weight, sometimes the cashier eyeballs your tray and makes up a price.
I've only been to Fenqihu (奮起湖) near Chiayi but there were indeed some sedate and beautiful forest trails there. Miaoli- another unexplored territory (along with Yunlin County) for me, I wish you best of luck. "Proper clothing" depends on what season you're going, but it's good to have rain gear, and layers are always practical (sometimes one must decide if the heat or the bugs are a greater evil).
As for Taipei quiet place recs:
Waziwei Nature Reserve (挖子尾自然生態保留區) - I have never seen a lot of people out here. Someone told me once it used to be a popular place to dump bodies, I've only ever seen fish bones. There's a cool mangrove swamp and a bike trail (might be a bit long to walk all the way out). I usually stop and get some food at Bali Old Street (crowded on the weekends, tolerable on a weekday afternoon).
Guandu Rice Fields (the linkable google maps location is actually 關渡平原大排步道) - Beautiful rice fields when they're green, or when flooded and you get the reflection of the sky and mountains. I also bike here, but I think you can reasonably walk from Beitou Station if it's not too hot.
Shezi Daotou Park 社子島 島頭公園 - Another place to bike to, although I think there's a bus. You get a lovely view of the mountains from the east side, there's a bird watching wetland area if you're into that. If you keep going on the west you'll get, well, all the way down to Xindian before the trail ends.
Guandu Temple 關渡宮 - the temple is not quiet on the holidays, but I like Guandu as an area in general, you can take a bus up to the Taipei National University of the Arts campus and look around (there's a museum, wasn't open last time I went), there's the Guandu Nature Park, more beautiful riverside trails, you can even bike all the way to Tamsui (淡水) if you feel so inclined (also not quiet on the weekends, but the beach can be tolerable), or back down to the city (and all the way to Nangang and beyond if you're industrious).
Not Just Library 不只是圖書館 - if you've had enough of the mozzies outdoors, this specially designed library in an old Japanese era bathhouse is pretty cool, located in the Songshan Creative Park. There's a fee to get in but I think unlimited time after that
Air Force Martyrs Cemetery 空軍烈士公墓 - this is not exactly what I'm recommending but it's got a google maps location, and if you look carefully at the map there's a sort of unnamed cemetery around it which I've enjoyed exploring. You can walk from Xindian Station, Bitan 碧潭 is also a hectic place on the weekend but I've noticed Taiwanese people tend to be superstitious about cemeteries and don't go in there without formal business.
Fu De Keng Public Cemetery (富德公墓辦公室) is also a neat cemetery, but more difficult to get to. Even walking a couple kilometers up Chongde Street 崇德街 from Liuzhangli Station can be fun tho, you can see the location from the movie A Sun (陽光普照).
Yuanshan Archaeological Site 圓山文化遺跡 - I don't know why this place is always empty (except when I went on a walking tour lecture with a bunch of senior citizens the other day, and finally learned it used to be a zoo), there are a lot of cool abandoned traditional buildings (locked up, if you're really industrious you could probably sneak in but even from the outside it's very picturesque). You can walk from Yuanshan Station.
Lin An Tai Historical House and Museum 林安泰古厝 - less abandoned, quiet factor depends on the day of the week but I wouldn't say I've ever seen it truly packed. Beautiful traditional estate grounds and garden you can walk around in, free entry. Also across the street from Xinsheng Park, the rose garden, and indoor botanical gardens. Ten minute walk from the Yuanshan Archaeological Site.
I was going to wrap it up here lest I go on indefinitely but I feel like I should throw in one more indoor place for mosquito-escape:
Beitou Refuse Incineration Plant Observation Deck 北投焚化爐景觀台- I've been here once and it was empty except for one other guy, I'm not sure if it's normally like that but I'm assuming it's not the MOST popular place ever. It's easiest to bike there, just go along the river, go up the flood wall ramp, and there's a Youbike kiosk on the other side. Free entry! Cool views! Silence! (There's a revolving restaurant on the floor above but outrageously expensive.)

✦Day and Night — Yuki Tsunoda✦
Dating AU (headcanons)
Pairing: Yuki Tsunoda x reader
Summary: What daily life is like in your relationship with Yuki.
Notes: This is the product of me getting distracted while writing a completely different thing for a completely different driver (more on that later). Anyhow, I hope you enjoy this! <3
Day
♫ Bad Haircut - Stephani Poetri & JVKE
Your days start slow. Mornings are full of soft cuddles and even softer kisses. When it’s finally time to greet the outside world, expect to coordinate entire outfits, or at minimum match sneakers. He’ll pick you a bouquet of wildflowers whenever he spots them, only to be left worshipping the small bug bites perpetually scattered across his knuckles whenever he’s away for a race. His love of food bleeds its way into your relationship in a myriad of ways. Whether it's him waking up early to make you breakfast in bed, catching up over lunch at a new restaurant, or taking turns being each other's sous chef whenever there’s a recipe you want to try out. When your schedules allow, you’ll travel to one of the many places you always talked about going to. At some point you’ll invest in cameras; his digital and yours analog; with the notion of capturing the beauty of the world around you. Nevertheless, you’ll return home every time with pictures of nothing but each other. If you ask him to teach you/help you improve your Japanese, he’d be over the moon. Watching your eyes light up with recognition as you start to understand his words of adoration and terms of endearment is enough to make his heart nearly burst.
Night
♫ Here With Me - D4vd
Nights with Yuki end just as soft as the days begin. You’ll complete your nightly chores before playing video games or reading. It’s all so hopelessly domestic. If he’s had a hard week, you get him to take a bath with you. You can practically see the tension slipping from his shoulders as you shower him with floral soaps and loving words of encouragement. On occasion, always when he’s in a particularly cheerful and clingy mood, he’ll pester you to share a gloriously graceless slow dance. While this usually happens at home, there have been several times he’s convinced you to dance with him in the most social of situations. No matter the location, Yuki always makes sure to mark the intro, chorus, and outro of each song with a kiss. When insomnia gets the best of you, you’ll go on late-night drives. The streets are nearly empty and he’ll always insist on driving. At some point, he’ll pull over for a midnight snack. You always pick something like chips, pizza, or sandwiches while Yuki always chooses nothing but sweets. Salty and savory foods might not be your favorite, but Yuki's bright eyes and near-blinding smile when he inevitably mentions how well you balance each other out certainly is. The best nights are when he finds himself wine drunk and overflowing with love in its most pure form. Giggling and tripping over his words as he spills every last bullet point on his list of hopes, dreams, and intentions for your future together. Introducing your families to each other. Two dogs and a cat. Fresh flowers and white linens. Home-cooked meals. Wedding vows and pastel-painted nurseries. A modest home, a gentle life.

There was a Buddy Daddies Radio at AnimeJapan 2023, but the live video to watch it was region blocked. Ugh. Did anyone get to hear it? I’m curious what they may have talked about and if they dropped any more hints about the final episode.
A teaser of an audio drama that is going to be packaged with Vol. 2 of the DVD/BDs called “When one door closes, another door opens.”
youtube
English: Rei left his parents house and is now living in a hotel. Kazuki, who isn’t working near enough for it, gambles away all his money. Although the two were living their own separate lives, Kyutaro asks Kazuki to look for Rei. Kazuki finally finds Rei, but...
In the snippet they play above, you can hear Rei playing games (he failed the mission) and ordering room service. But he can’t use his card to buy the food, so the hotel staff asks if he has any other means of paying. Then we hear the staff employee shouting, “COME BACK!” (more directly, “WAIT!”) and the sound of Rei breathing heavily, indicating that he has run away from the hotel. It seems he runs into the street, since there is a car horn honking and a man yelling, “What the hell are you doing!?” to him. Rei’s scene ends with him being like, “This is bad. I can’t use my card and I don’t have any money on me.”
Then it transitions over to Kazuki’s part of the audio drama. We hear the sound of gambling. It seems Kazuki put all his money on red, and even Carol and Dorothy are like, “Wow! You’re going to bet all your money?” and “Wow, Kazuki, how daring!” He takes a big, long sip of his beer and he’s all like, “I’m gonna win big this time! And then I’m going to ---” and he starts to say what he plans to do with the money he wins, but you hear the clack-clack of the ball and his scream of pain at realizing he lost it all, lmao. Carol: Come again, ka~ay? :D Then you hear Kazuki sneezing and then drinking again, he sadly states, “My life is a over.” Then Kyutaro finds him and tells him to come over to the Mistletoe Cafe.
So, I wonder if this is going to be the backstory that leads to the scene that we see in Episode 8 of Kazuki walking into the cafe and seeing Rei there? If it does play out like that, then that will be rather interesting, since it would parallel Episode 5 when Miri got lost. Kazuki and Rei searched all over, but then they found her at Kyu’s cafe. It would make for an interesting parallel.
This would also fit with Kazuki saying that it was because of Kyutaro that they met (I believe he says that, or something similar, someone correct me if I am misremembering though!). Since this sounds like the setup to when they both first got to know each other and then started living together. Nice!

Japan day 8 (this is from last November because I don’t believe in timelyness)
Tokyo and tea time!
Started the day at the museum because it was raining
Then explored a fancy mall in ginza and had soba noodles and fancy Japanese omelets with so much tea for lunch.
And then it was time for purple tea!! It was so very cute and delicious and I had so much fun. It was very Instagramable which was fun but also made me feel a little silly and I felt a little underdressed. But look at noomi! Noomi is the bear dressed as a unicorn in a teacup 🥺💜🥺 so fun!
We then get kebabs from a street stand for dinner. It’s fun because they are speaking Turkish to each other but then English and Japanese to customers. Pretty impressive.
We then go see the giant cat billboard which I love. I also love this restaurants street display (we didn’t even go there)
Overly long travel diary plus hotel musings
Day 8
Day 8
Anthony paid for chicken from Lawson.
Anthony paid 1000 yen each museum fee.
Bit of a slow morning in our tiny hotel with some very good quality time.
The hotel rooms in Japan are often very tiny, with full beds pressed into the corner.
The exception being the onsen room which had a whole sitting area with chairs and then a raised dining room withsliding room dividers for dinner. The Osaka room was also unusually large for a Japanese hotel. That one had the weirdest bathroom setup. There was a toilet room and then the sink and counter where just in the room, but then the shower and bathtub where in their own tiled room with nothing else. Like you where just showering in a room with a drain not a separate shower stall.
We first head to a museum since it’s going to be raining in the morning. It’s not too bad out yet but definitely drizzling. The museum is filled with school children.
It’s the Tokyo national museum so almost all of it is Japanese which is nice. They have a couple of interactive exhibits. One is simply create your own stamp art, but the other is a video display where standing in certain places and waving your arms will reveal more art and more information. A lot of the museum information is in English in addition to Japanese although not all. We go through the main hall and then the hyrokium treasures room which has really old masks that are really cool.
The main hall had lots of Buddha statues and painted hangings or scrolls.
After the museum we head out to one of Japans best indoor shopping malls near our afternoon activity. It’s really pouring and we get pretty soaked on our under ten minute walk to the train station.
After the train it takes us awhile to actually find the shopping mall. All of the buildings are huge and full of stores. It is mostly fancy designer stores as this is a ritzy area.
We get lunch of slightly overpriced soba noodles and delicious (it’s so fluffy!) Japanese omelets. The place is very posh and they keep giving us tea which is nice.
We take in the roof top garden (which also has a skating rink) and then wander through the mall just sort of ogling all of the rich people stores. We don’t really go in any. And then it’s time for tea!
Art muesuem and then travel to Ginza six. Hard to find and overly fancy. Have soba noodles with chicken and egg. And Japanese omelette. Everything is so good but so hot that I keep burning my mouth. But I’m also too hungry to slow down. Walk around all the fancy stores and then it’s time for tea!! And noomi the bear dressed as a unicorn.
I booked a fancy tea because they had an adorable purple themed set. The set is just as adorable and purple as hoped. Although the place is pretty fancy and we feel a little underdressed. I take a bunch of fun food pictures but I feel a little silly awkward doing it, especially because my bf isn’t super into. And then the other table next to us is two girls dressed to the nines taking all of the perfect Instagram pictures.
All of the food is so purple and so perfectly dainty. Some of it is a little strange though, like samon tarte tarte that I give to my bf. The bear dressed like a unicorn sitting in a tea cup is perfect in every way. I also love white chocolate so I enjoy eating it. My favorite bite tho was the chocolate truffle lollipop.
After tea we walk around ginza some more and stop at a craft beer bar. I get “the yuzu thing” which is a wheat beer flavor with yuzu and it’s delicious.
And then on our way back to the hotel we make a quick pit stop at “” to see the giant 3D cat!! A giant billboard that goes around a corner and displays ads and also a giant car that meows and does cute things like drink milk, or chase yarn, or lick itself. It’s every bit as delightful as I hoped it would be.
We walk through the area a bit more. And see the golden(?) street with all its tiny bars, most of which have table charges and some which are members only. It’s pretty quite now because it’s like 6pm but it will be crazy later since a lot of those bars stay open until 5am apparently. The streets are so narrow and winding, def pedestrian only.
We head back to the hotel area and since we are still fairly full from tea decide to just get kebabs for dinner. I get a kebab/ gyro/ donner wrap and a grapefruit sour. My bf pays in cash. He has a debit card with zero atm fees or foreign fees so he’s been paying for most of the cash things.
Kebabs for dinner. Anthony pays 700 food, 400 grapefruit sour for me.

Hokkaido Gals are Super Adorable just ended, and I'm crying! Great job to Kai Ikada for such a wonderful series. I joined the fandom late, but I still got to wait for the final chapter that dropped today.
I found myself wanting more from other characters in the series, so I decided to try my hand at fan fic writing, im so nervous because it's my first fic ever. In this instance, I'm expanding Rena's character and her experiences at college after Chapter 115.
Here's a snippet of Chap 1 of
The Stars are Cheering for You
By me! Fudgesuperior!
The night before she left for university Rena ran into Tsubasa’s grandfather, Gin. He was a man who inspired and encouraged her to do what she loved. She accredited him for her love of traditional Japanese history and culture. They had not seen each other since she was a child, encountering him so near her departure felt as if it were fate. Shiki bestowed upon her his personal hand fan as a token, a reminder to look up at the sky so that the stars might cheer her up when she was sad. This was the final push she needed to confront her future and begin her new journey.
Rena Natsukawa left Hokkaido with a mix of emotions, feeling bittersweet as she said goodbye to her friends, family, and hometown. Though leaving was hard, she was excited to pursue her career in her chosen field at her top pick university in Tokyo. As she packed for the move, her thoughts were filled with reflections on the friends she’d made, her cherished home, and Tsubasa…
Her arrival in Tokyo couldn’t have gone smoother. Rena’s living arrangements had all been settled and it was only a matter of finding the address and unpacking. Tokyo was far busier than Kitami, but she had grown accustomed to the city’s hustle and bustle after traveling here several times in the past. Still, there was something different this time— a sense of finality, of stepping into a new chapter of her life. The towering skyscrapers, the sea of people rushing past— all of it felt both exhilarating and overwhelming. She took a deep breath, trying to steady herself as she navigated through the unfamiliar streets.
She was lost in thought as she made her way outside of the airport, her eyes taking in the cityscape that stretched before her. The towering buildings, bright signs, and crowded streets were a stark contrast to the quieter life she had known in Kitami. The voices of conversation and the distant sound of traffic filled the air, blending with the aroma of street food that wafted from nearby vendors.
The buildings and stores started to blur together as she continued to walk, heavily contemplating what her new life would be like. Would she meet new people here? Was there a possibility for her to make more impactful friendships like she had back home?
Uneasiness began to creep into Rena's mind because of all the unknown factors. With her perception of the outside world diminishing, she found herself stumbling directly into a stranger. She had been so lost in her thoughts that she hadn't noticed the young man approaching from the opposite direction— neither of them paying attention, both engrossed in their respective worlds.
“HEY, WATCH IT!” the young delinquent yelled, his voice sharp and filled with irritation. Rena blinked, momentarily stunned that someone would shout at her over such a minor incident. As she collected herself, she couldn’t help but feel a strange sense of familiarity as she looked up at him. Tall, broad shoulders, and that messy brown hair… something about him struck a chord within her. The recognition was unsettling.
You can read more Here if you want!
Thank you, and enjoy!

“Me in the Land of the Rising Sun”
Japan, with its mesmerizing beauty and enchanting atmosphere, truly made a lasting impression on my travel adventures. Having explored various countries in Southeast Asia, such as Singapore, Malaysia, Cambodia, Vietnam, and Thailand, I can confidently say that Japan surpasses them all. This sojourn was never part of my original plan, nor did it feature in my bucket list, but fate intervened when a friend invited me to join their travel group, which included a visit to this unforgettable country.
November 16, 2023, my travel began with a domestic flight from Davao to Manila, accompanied by my travel companion, though we found ourselves on different flights and airlines. Understandably exhausted by the time I arrived in Manila, I contemplated whether to wait at the airport for my friend's flight or seek respite in one of the capsule sleeping areas. Eventually opting for a hotel in Makati to rest, I informed my friend of my plans, hoping he would reach out if necessary. Unbeknownst to me, I slept through my alarms, waking up in a panic as I realized I had missed several calls from my friend, who was urging me to hurry. In a rush, I booked a Grab taxi, undoubtedly burdening my friend with my tardiness and repeatedly apologizing for my oversight. Holding my breath, I urged the driver to hasten our ride, anxious about missing our flight.
Little did I know that the challenges had only just begun. Even before leaving my hometown, I received a brief notice from the airline stating that our flight had been rescheduled to an earlier time. Desperate, I contacted my friend, seeking any means to expedite our trip. We resorted to costly transportation arrangements, arriving just in time for our boarding. The relief of having overcome this hurdle washed over me.
Upon arriving at Narita International Airport on November 17, 2023, I was struck by a mixture of awe and bewilderment. Despite having visited numerous destinations before, Japan felt like uncharted territory, evoking emotions I had not experienced previously. Overwhelmed by the bustling stations of Narita, my friend and I sought assistance from information desks to pinpoint the right station for our next destination, Osaka. Once we had acquired our tickets for the Shinkansen, the renowned high-speed train, I marveled at the opportunity to ride on this unforgettable travel. Unfortunately, my anticipation for enjoying the scenic views was dampened as I found myself engrossed in paperwork during the train ride.
Initially uncertain of our seat, we approached a Japanese gentleman seated near the window, who greeted us with a warm smile. Struggling to communicate verbally due to his limited English proficiency, we turned to translation apps on our phones. Eventually, the kind Japanese man pointed us in the direction of our designated seats, alleviating our weariness from hauling heavy luggage that accompanied our linguistic trepidation. Despite the fatigue, the presence of the bullet train and the thrill of its speed permeated the atmosphere, leaving an indelible impression on my memory, even if I couldn't fully appreciate the scenery outside.
The fatigue from our exhaustive travel culminated as we arrived in Osaka, eagerly navigating the multiple train transfers necessary to reach our destination. Hours passed before we finally emerged from the subway, greeted by the biting cold of the 8-degree Celsius weather—a sign to the beauty and chilliness of Osaka, particularly in the lively district of Dotonbori. Fashion-forward locals dressed in coats and sweaters paraded before me, akin to a fashion show runway. It didn't take long for me to immerse myself in the photogenic corners of Dotonbori and indulge in delectable Japanese street food like Takoyaki and Ramen. The language barrier seemed like a minor hurdle as I sought assistance during my purchases, adapting to the uniqueness of it all. On day two, I purchased a puffy jacket and winter outfits from Zara and Uniqlo, unprepared for the intense cold that greeted me. Little did I know that my suitcase full of warm clothing would go unused.
In the following days, we explored the distinct beauty of Osaka and Kyoto, aided by a friend who acted as our tour guide. Amidst the routine of hopping on and off different trains, we found ourselves traversing Kyoto, making stops at sites such as the Fushimi Inari Shrine. As we walked the streets of the village surrounding the shrine, I couldn't help but marvel at the traditional Japanese houses that mirrored the animated images from my childhood. Impeccable cleanliness and an commitment to hygiene were evident in every corner, reinforcing the discipline of the Japanese people in maintaining the pristine state of their surroundings. Captivated by the scenery, I insisted on capturing every street through photographs, creating a memorable keepsake. Although we couldn't complete the entire walking through the mesmerizing red torii gates of the shrine due to time constraints, we redirected our focus to exploring more of Kyoto and maximizing our limited time.
On another day, we dedicated our time to the Universal Studios Japan. The euphoric sounds and energy of the park greeted us, even in the midst of cold weather. Embracing the childlike joy that washed over me, I eagerly embarked on each ride, soaking in the enchantment that the park had to offer. This visit to Universal Studios felt notably different from my previous experience in Singapore, as the lengthy queues necessitated my friend's retreat back to our hotel in Dotonbori due to exhaustion. Left to explore the park alone, I reveled in a sense of freedom and happiness, momentarily detaching from any worries or concerns.
During our last day in Osaka, we made an early departure from the nearest station, heading to Kansai International Airport with Hokkaido as our destination. The excitement was building, especially after our friend filmed the snowfall and shared it with our group chat. Witnessing the snowfall became an immediate desire for me. As we approached the airport, I was awestruck by its unique location - constructed in the middle of the sea, it resembled a captivating island, offering a breathtaking view from the airplane.
The travel to Chitose International Airport in Hokkaido was nothing short of magical. Snow-covered mountains painted a picturesque scene that truly mesmerized me. The sunlight danced differently across Hokkaido, creating a stunning ambiance. I was fortunate to capture this beautiful sunset, as it played upon the clouds, etching an unforgettable memory in my heart. Grateful, I thanked Allah (S.W.T) and took a moment to reflect on this incredible experience, appreciating the path that led me there.
Upon arrival in Chitose, we boarded another train destined for Sapporo, the central city of Hokkaido, where we had booked our hotel. Despite the exhaustion from carrying our heavy luggage, we pushed through, fueled by the anticipation of exploring the enchanting city. After checking in, while my friend took a well-deserved rest, I wasted no time and ventured out to discover the beauty of Sapporo. My exploration led me to the Sapporo TV Tower, granting me a bird's-eye view of the entire city. Standing there in solitude, I embraced the moment, soaking in its splendor. It was during this time that I contemplated the blessings bestowed upon me, realizing that none of it would be possible without the guidance of Allah (S.W.T).
The following day, we purchased tickets to visit the Asahiyama Zoo, stopping at various beautiful places along the way. Each stop left me in awe, as I braved the intense cold, capturing the essence of every location through the lens of my camera. This trip became an unforgettable chapter in my life, cherished and kept close to my heart. Even though I didn't experience the snowfall, I am grateful for the opportunity that unfolded before me. I also ventured alone to Mt. Moiwa, where I unleashed my imagination, envisioning future endeavors and mapping out my next five years. From the viewpoint atop the mountain, I settled down with a cup of coffee, gazing out of the window, capturing both the physical and metaphysical beauty of Sapporo. I penned my thoughts, allowing myself to dream of beautiful things. It is during moments like these that I truly comprehend that nothing is unattainable when I wholeheartedly pursue my desires and take action. The lessons and realizations I experienced on the peak of Sapporo remain invaluable.
Through traveling alone, I confronted some of my fears. The unfamiliarity and uncertainty of being in unknown places consumed me initially, but I soon discovered that such apprehensions were baseless. Instead, I found myself welcomed by friendly strangers and embraced by a place I had initially feared. I learned that there is nothing wrong with embracing the unknown and braving the things that scare us, for in doing so, we tap into our limitless potential. Although I foresee a future where I long for companionship, marriage, and starting a family, I understand that these desires are not my current priority. Instead, I leave it to the divine will of Allah (S.W.T), embracing whatever path is laid out before me without regret or blame. For now, I continue to chase my dreams, as they remain unfulfilled and a collection of experiences yet to be gathered.
Leaving Sapporo, I made a promise to myself: to return to this captivating city that has stolen my heart. Thankfully, there will always be a reason to come back. While I had hoped to experience the winter season, the journey fast-forwarded, and it became my final day in Sapporo. I caught my flight to Narita International Airport, marking the last leg of my Japanese adventure. Tokyo, the last prefecture on my itinerary, awaited me. Without wasting a single moment, the night before my arrival, I started on a travel to Shibuya, eager to witness and traverse its bustling streets. The sheer volume of people amazed me, and I couldn't help but wonder their origins. Shibuya quickly became my favorite spot in Tokyo, despite having only a day to freely explore before returning home before my friend. I wandered, indulging in all that caught my shopping, tasting various culinary delights, and immersing myself in the vibrant ambiance. To add to the enchantment, I visited TeamLab at night, an otherworldly experience, where lights and visual marvels captivated my senses.
My love for Japan and its people is anchored in the strong sense of discipline and politeness that permeates every aspect of life. I observed firsthand how everything operates seamlessly - governed by systems and propelled by efficient processes. Whether witnessing children, adults, or seniors, everyone walked at an astonishing pace, a true proof to their respect for rules and order. Japan, in a single word, can be described as "FAST." It is no wonder why this country ranks highly in development and stands as a beacon of first-world infrastructure.
My travel through Japan spanned countless memorable encounters and awe-inspiring experiences. From the arduous journey to the spectacular sights of Osaka and Kyoto, From the marvels of Sapporo to the vibrant street of Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan proved itself as a captivating destination that surpassed all expectations. Its pristine cleanliness, fast-paced lifestyle, and warm-hearted locals left an unforgettable impression on my soul. Japan, a country that effortlessly blends tradition and modernity, will forever hold a special place in my travel memories.

Rating food of the countries I've been to, from West to East:
Disclaimer: it's veeery subjective
***
Spain🇪🇸 : 7/10. It's okay. I expected their fish and seafood to be better, tho. A LOT of relatively cheap fresh juices, 10/10 for health. They also make surprisingly amazing pasta and surprisingly average paella.
France🇫🇷: 9/10. Never visited cafes or restaurants there, but Carrefour has an incredible variety of good meat. I love their pineapple pie, too. There are a lot of products for vegetarians, Muslims, and, in general, different people who have different eating styles. There's a lot to see. And omg, their bazaar days are something worth attending: I still regret that I never tried clams with white wine.
UK🇬🇧 : 6/10. Not impressed. Something tells me that they deliberately make fish-n-chips that terrible. But I absolutely loved the strawberries under hot chocolate, which was sold by two cheerful Polish girls near Madam Tussaud museum.
Switzerland 🇨🇭: 6/10. Migros has nice buns with spinach and those Japanese "sandwiches", overall, your whole salary is gonna be spent on food. (Lithuania core lol😭) McDonald's there SUCKS.
Norway🇳🇴: 4/10. I expected a lot for some reason. Prices gonna cause you a heart attack, the quality is gonna give you a second heart attack. Also!!! THERE WAS NO FISH IN THE SHOPS EXCEPT THE CANNED!!! I was deeply injured. Norwegian salmon is super popular in Ukraine, how can they not have any normal fish in the big supermarkets...
Germany🇩🇪: 1/10. I may be just unlucky, but every time I visit Germany and pick a random cafe with lots of people(!), it has the worst food I've ever tasted in my life. It's like that scene from Desperate Housewives: "Really? A woman who orders Chinese food for Christmas dinner cooked a pineapple pie?" I understand now why Ukrainian women often marry Germans. My heart bleeds when I see what exactly you eat. I want to cover you with a blanket and cook you a normal soup.
Czech Republic 🇨🇿: 7/10. The soup was nice, ставлю вподобайку👍
Poland🇵🇱 : 8/10. Soup in bread, my beloved. Doughnuts were some kind of overcooked in oil, tho.
Montenegro🇲🇪: 10/10. I love you. I love your salads, your seafood, and I LOVE YOUR LEMON ICECREAM!!!!!
Slovakia🇸🇰: 7/10. I don't really remember what I ate, I am sorry. But I was really impressed with your supermarkets for some reason. Gotta visit it again.
Hungary🇭🇺: 6/10. It was my first time I've ever tried street food, and I liked it. You guys know how to cook meat.
Greece🇬🇷: 7/10. One day, I'll find the guy who can cook Karavidopsiha and beg them to cook it once again. Nice fish!!! I remember your arbutus honey as old women remember their best lovers. But. One time, a man served my family with unpeeled shrimps in batter. :/ What the hell was that? Is that some kind of a national dish I'm not aware of? Minus three points for such bullying.
Cyprus 🇨🇾: 7/10. I shouldn't be obsessed with your carob tree pastille that much.
Lithuania🇱🇹: 10/10. I love you. Although, I'd love to spend less money on food too. I love your Maxima and Rimi and Iki. I love your cafes. I love your bakery, I love your cocktails, I looooooove your soups, and I love your Asian food too. It's very easy to become an alcoholic with such delicious wines and tinctures.
Latvia🇱🇻: 11/10. Oh my god. Oh my god. I'm on my knees. Your cream chanterelle soup and Lidl croissants and marinated onion and šašlyk and fish and dairy products🛐🛐🛐. You guys know how to serve. I've never seen such pretty food designs anywhere. And of course, Lido. It brings me in tears of joy and makes me remember Puzata Hata. No, for real, is there any dish you don't know how to cook?
Finland🇫🇮: 7/10. That's okay. Nice street food.
Belarus ⚪️🔴⚪️: 9/10. Oh my dear Belarus, you're gonna be the best chef in Europe once you're free from russia. I wish I ate more machanka and drank your pine tincture when I had the chance. I love your chicory, it's a bit greyish, but it's much more delicious than an average chicory. Delicious meat in the shops. Other food is soviet-like, which makes me nauseous.
Ukraine 🇺🇦: ♾️/10. Вітчизно моя! Ти як здоров'я, наскільки ти цінна, тільки той знає, хто тебе втратив. I don't know if my favourite shops still work. I loved every single cafe I've been to, yes, even that shitty prorussian Mafia and Eurasia. I loved Puzata Hata. I loved Khlibna Kava, and its amazing cherry cupcakes. I loved Moloko Vid Fermera. I loved little kiosks with fresh Makadamia nuts and huge variety of vegetables and fruits. I loved Flagman and Silpo, Lvivśki croissants, and chocolate shops. I loved my seafood store. I loved giant frappes in Shevchenko Park. I loved my Continent with its old classical French background songs. I love my Japanese food stores. There are so many places I love. I used to find my bazaar so ugly and dirty, but I would give everything to buy the sea buckthorn jam from the cheerful old lady. But it's not gonna happen. My bazaar was shelled by russians to the ground.
Turkey🇹🇷: 9/10. Your Katmer, seafood soup and baked shrimps(?) are something 🛐.
Jordan🇯🇴: 7/10. Nice! You cook paella better than Spain, be proud of yourself. Although, I'd love to not be scared for my life as a woman all the time. Your bazaar seemed very interesting, but unfortunately, I don't speak Arabic. And I am a woman, which also sucks, I guess. I was totally covered in black, except for the face and hair, and people still stared at me like on a zoo exponate. McDonald's kinda sucks too, but not as much as in Switzerland.
Egypt🇪🇬: 7/10. It's okay. I've tasted only hotel food.
Sakartvelo🇬🇪 : 10/10. Our guide forgot about our existence, and we had to find any source of food to not die from hunger, so we went to your local bazaar and asked to fry some cheap fish. It had lots of bones, and I hate fish with bones, but I ate it all, and it tasted amazing.
Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦: 6/10. Most of the week, I just cooked some simple spiceless products like pasta and eggs from the small store. You are far from the level of grocery stores in Turkey. Although, your cold orange juice bottle saved my life from dying in the middle of the desert.
Qazaqstan 🇰🇿: 7/10. I don't really remember your supermarkets, I guess they were okay. But your bazaars are definitely something worth attending. Millions of varieties of honey with millions of tastes and very salty hard cheese Kurt.

August 1 - Lotus Pond and Qishan Train Station
The first thing we did today was go to the Lotus Pond. The pond is surrounded by 15-20 temples, so we went to a few of them. The first one was under renovation, but we were still able to walk inside the tiger statue and walk out of the dragon statue. It was on stilts on the water and had a zigzag bridge connecting it to land. The second one was also on stilts on the water, but it had a bigger dragon statue with whiskers. It also had a bridge going to another temple in the center of the pond. We went to a group lunch after the Lotus Pond. It was Mongolian barbecue, but each table also had a hot pot. The food was all very good. Then, we went to Qishan train station, which is an old train station. It is not used anymore. There were train cars outside of the historic building. Later on, for dinner, two of the guys came with me to Ruifeng Night Market. This night market seemed like it had the most stuff out of any night market. It was shaped like a grid with night market stretching in every direction. Most of the other ones were down one street. I first got barbecue grilled squid again, and it was good again of course. Then, I got a meat pie, which is like a bun filled with meat and scallions. I have also gotten these before. I got two more things that I hadn’t tried before, however. We have seen several Turkish food and ice cream stands here and there in Taiwan. We found a Turkish shawarma wrap stand here, so we tried it. It was very good, and the young Turkish men that served us were very nice. Then, I tried a Thai banana pancake with chocolate sauce, which was also good.
Academic Reflection:
On the way to the Lotus Pond, Peter taught us about how many temples surrounded it. He also taught us about the history of Daoism and Confucianism in China and Taiwan. He said that some Confucius thought is being challenged in the modern society of Taiwan, such as men obeying their mothers-in-law. Peter also told us stories he was told as a child, where the moral of the story was a Confucius teaching. Peter told us at the temple on the water that some people buy fish or turtles and let them free near the temple so they can go to heaven.
We learned in the reading, “Religion in Taiwan at the End of the Japanese Colonial Period,” that there was and is Daoism, Buddhism, and an offshoot of Buddhism called Zhaijiao. At Qishan, I learned that the train station was built by the Japanese. The reading spoke of political dislocation, and this building is evidence of that. The reading taught us that the Japanese were good for Taiwan because they helped modernize, including building railways.

Like I used to watch you sleep - Chapter 9
Chapter 1

Chapter 3
Chapter 4

Chapter 6
Chapter 7
Chapter 8
CHAPTER 9
“Her social media has been blacked out, but it doesn’t mean her social life has been one bit boring,” the first commentator replies as the screen is parted with a continuous series of screen shots, simple photos, paparazzi photos, videos Anna dancing, singing (karaoke?).
“The squad has been summoned, for sure,” the second commentator adds up as different model-looking girls show in different clips. Max recognizes some of the faces from perfume adds and perhaps a movie. There are little notes indicating cities the clips are from. So far Max has read Paris, Barcelona, Copenhagen, Tokio. “It seems new year’s was only the beginning,” Again her photo exiting the new year’s party, long legs exposed. He has been trying to pay attention to his meal as everyone had already finished, moved up to the sofa and turned on the tv – gossip column first thing that came on, and so far there’s no taking it off without angering the group on his sofa. His food is cold, making him admit that he’s as absorbed in the morning gossip.
“ ‘Where are Anna Pearson’s stockings’ stopped being the most sought question in Google after news flashed of Roberto Maño’s possible interview deal with Oprah,” the commentator does a dramatic pause, looking straight to the camera. “And little after, Ms. Pearson can be seen in Tokio singing best friend’s new hit Vampire…” the voice of the commentator fades to a capture of a tiktok clip of Anna singing to the camera of probably one of her friends. They are giggling stumbling upon the Japanese streets, onlookers to their sides.
“The way you sold me for parts, you sunk your teeth into me,” she sings with another one out of frame eyes looking elsewhere, Max suspects a little bit drunk. She giggles to the camera staring directly her big hypnotizing honey eyes. “Bloodsucker, famefucker!” She sings louder, laughs, takes a gulp of something before finishing in a softer more sober tone. “Bleeding me dry like a goddamn vampire!” The camera leaves her to show the rest of her friends laughing continuing the song.
“The thing is… Anna can introduce me to her friends, right?” Lando asks, from his seat on the coach. “I mean, I did get you to that party, didn’t I?” The British driver has taken off his shoes laying his for sure sweaty feet over the coffee table. Unnoticed by the rest who are caught into the gossip talk show. Max rolls his eyes ignoring his friend, Danny chuckling besides him. The aussie driver is the only who has remained sitting, as he’s distracted typing rapidly on his phone.
“The social medial black out we are still not sure if it’s a publicity stun after her contract with F1 has been made public, if there might be a surprise album coming or if it has to do with Roberto’s Oprah interview,” the first commentator continues, cutting to the image of the well looking actor in a red carpet. Tall, thick hair perfectly coiffed as the actor walks a red carpet with confidence, moving his perfectly tailored jacket to pose for the cameras, big perfected smile.
“He’s an asshole,” Victoria chips whispering from her place in the sofa as she balances Luka near her chest sleeping. “I mean, she’s always been notoriously quiet about well…” Victoria glances back at her brother who stares at her deadpanned.
“What it’s for sure is that vampire has flown to the top of the lists, and many are speculating the second mystery writer of the song might as well be Anna Pearson…” There’s a video of another girl, vaguely familiar to Max signing the same lyrics Anna was before.
It’s been a couple of weeks since they last saw each other and their texting has certainly quiet down from the first day’s frenzy. Max hasn’t dared to ask anything about her plans after she asked if he could stay in London for a few more days. Which he couldn’t. He had felt the tension of the unmentioned toppings in their conversation increasing as the days passed.
He had refused to let conversation dry completely sending her anything silly that passed through his social media, comforted that her humour remained untouched but the closing of her social media – which she told him beforehand, though gave little to no explanation - had crippled his efforts. She was barely on her phone, as it was, usually answering in different hours. He did know they had a big show coming and she would be mostly practicing. And partying apparently.
“In two weeks, we will be seeing Anna Pearson performing in the European MTV Awards, in Italy, to receive her ten-year commemoration,” the commentators continue in the background. “We are expecting a 15 minute show, or at least that’s what we could get from-”
“It’s two days after the Oprah interview goes live, no?”
“Yeah, but in Pearson’s favour, she had confirmed her presence in the EMAs long before Roberto made the break up statement-”.
“What a ****,”
“I know I’m team Anna for sure,”
“And are we going to talk about the hair?”
“I think she looks gorgeous with her hair short,” Heidi says to Victoria.
“Me too, right Maxie?” Victoria agrees, glancing cheekily and knowingly to her brother.
“I’ll tell when I see her,” Max mutters his back to the TV trying to block the gossip shows Heidi, Victoria and Lando insisted on playing on his TV. Daniel laughs near him.
“Ohhh so now it’s when you see her?” Victoria continues, turning slowly, careful not to wait her sleeping child. In spite of him not confirming to his sibling or Lando that anything had happened, Lando has been constantly repeating whatever he thought he saw at the New Year’s party, even Max’s mother is aware something happened. And what Lando knows wasn’t much but it didn’t take much for the british driver to dramatize it. Victoria has happily joined the teasing.
It’s Heidi he worries might know something and pass it along, but Daniel has insisted he hasn’t said anything to her. Max doubts it, because he knows how pillow talk sometimes works. Kelly and Heidi weren’t bests of friends but they did hang out. Enough for Heidi not to confirm anything from Kelly’s side. And this thing with Anna was still not something he knew what it was but he didn’t want to hurt Kelly in spite of not knowing anything about her since October.
“That’s something,” Lando agrees by Max’s side.
“Do you get tickets for the EMAs brother dear?” Victoria asks her voice a bit higher than before, making Luka whine.
“Dunno,” Max says shrugging.
“It’s in Milan,” she adds, he shrugs again non-committal.
“Danny got tickets,” Heidi intervenes and the bell of Max’s phone interrupts his little focus on the conversation.
AnnieP: hi!
Maxie: hi
He feels the nerves in his stomach. Daniel has taken over the conversation, a knowing glance from his teammate lets Max know something shows in his face when he sees Anna’s name. Fuck it all. He takes advantage of the aussie as distraction, slipping to the balcony for the little privacy he can manage.
Annie P: can I call you?
His throat runs dry because since New Year’s texting is all they’ve ever done. And just texting. Memes, links of silly news, a song – or the beginnings of one if he understood her correctly. He glances back to the living room where everyone seems distracted with conversation, perhaps Danny has been successful changing subjects. There’s a part of him that wants to tell her no, make her wait a bit, but at the end wanting to hear her wins with great margin.
Max: sure.
She must have been waiting for his answer because less than ten seconds later he has her face on his screen. He’d forgotten he had her saved with an old photo of them. Before trying to remember when they took that particular photo he accepts and it’s then he realizes it’s a videocall.
Her face shows and her lips draw a happy grin. He brushes clumsily his hair as quickly as he can before she starts chuckling perceptively.
“Hi!” She repeats cheerful, nothing but joy in her face.
“You said call, not videocall,” he snaps embarrassed. He had never been a vain person but he still was conscious he was still in his sweated padel clothes, he hadn’t even seen himself in the mirror since they arrived.
“Sorry,” she laughs, clearly not sorry at all. “You look gorgeous, anyways,” she adds fondly, is she blushing? Is he blushing? She’s in a dark room as far as he can see, probably recording studio. Her hair is indeed shorter but it still is dark chocolate.
She then shows him her free hand, her casted hand.
“What happened?” he frowns worried, his hair forgotten.
“That’s why I’m calling, texting takes too long,” she whines lowering her casted hand.
“And videocalling?”
“I might miss your face as well as your voice,” she answers a sly grin stretching on her face, flirtatiously.
“In which time zone are you?” he asks when her laughter begins to quiet down.
“Uff returned to London yesterday, it’s been a bit hectic,” she murmurs, brushing her hair away from her face. “We are recording ‘til 15h, then choreo, hopefully tonight I get to stay home… and you?”
“Mom left yesterday. Vic’s still here with the kids,” he says awkwardly.
“Uncle Maxie,” she coos, big smile not leaving her face. He shakes his head in fake disapproval.
“I hear you might be coming to Italy soon?” he drops, changing subject and she bites her lip.
“Yup, next week I’ll be there for practice, and two weeks after it’s the show,” she answers a hesitant half smile on her face.
He can’t say it’s been hard or easy getting back in contact with her. There’s something between them that hasn’t changed, conversation is usually. But at the same time, he’s not blind to how different things are. In spite of her cheery complexion, her flirtatious tone, he knows there’s a barrier there that wasn’t there before, something that wasn’t there before. She’s more guarded. Something he knows he’s to blame for.
“Italy is not far from Monaco,” he continues nervously not looking away from the video. “I could... or you could…” he shrugs feeling absolutely pathetic in his attempt to be smooth. Fuck it. “Can we meet?”
She laughs and nods emphatically, her grin impossibly wide.
“Thought you’d never ask!”
It was as if awkwardness faded suddenly and all was left was them.
She explains how they were working on a much more physical presentation than she’s used to and she fell badly on her wrist. It hadn’t been too serious, she should be alright for the show, but depending on how she recovered she might not be able to play the guitar how they had planned for the first half of the show, the choreography had already been changed to avoid anything worse.
Then she had dramatically described her clumsy accident. A slip with a cord as her dancing partner was twirling her around. He laughed merrily, knowing at the end she was fine.
“I’d like to see you try Verstappen!” she mocked.
“After you give a spin with one of our cars,” he had retorted quickly remembering how she had almost crashed one of his first cars, when he let her drive it.
“I’m a much better driver now, thank you very much,” she snapped back but her tone held no real grudge behind.
“Wanna bet?” he challenged wiggling his eyebrows.
“Name the prize,” she agrees wiggling her own, cheeks heated a quick remembrance of an old bet of them that had ended with a broken table. He feels flushed as he remembers all too well.
Someone calls for her, breaking the moment and allowing them to reign themselves. She asks for ten more minutes. Once the person outside of the image is out, she rolls her eyes as she grins to the camera and asks him again what’s new with him.
He told her about his new found love of paddle, and perhaps he exaggerated his prowess, which he suspected she had noticed as she snorts when he tries bragging of winning Lando – forgetting to mention Danny had done most of the job. He told her Lando had been bugging him for her to present her friends to him. That had gained a contagious laugh from her.
“Bring him with you,” Anna encourages, delicately taking a lock of rebel hair, behind her ear. She adds they could meet in group in case a paparazzi got word of where she was. Just in case. The unsaid words boost him to be bold. It’s then he notices how insecure he feels with their whole ordeal. Max offers he could go back with her to London because he had to drop in Milton Keys in the next few weeks. Her face parts into a big grin that warms him deeply. He’s debating himself to ask what she would like to do lodging wise when Lando opens loudly the sliding crystal door keeping him inside.
“Annaaaaa,” he greets sitting next to Max, taking the phone from his hands. Danny appears by the window frame apologetically.
“Hi Mr. Lando!” She returns warmly. “I hear today wasn’t a good the at the paddle court for you?”
“I couldn’t keep him any longer,” Daniel tells Max sighing dramatically. “And also, I wanted to say hi!” he squeezes himself at Max’s other side. Max could hear her laughing. He sighs in resignation, knowing it will be difficult to have his phone and his privacy back.
“Assholes,” he mutters.
“Mr. Ricciardo!” she greets, merrily, ignoring Max’s comment. “Long time no see!”
“Ditto!” the Australian mirrored her grin and excitement. “Are you-”
“Is Rachel there?” Lando interrupts. She laughs and shakes her head.
“I’m afraid if she were I wouldn’t be allowed to use my phone,” she confides but there are no bad feelings in her voice. “She’s been forced to take a two week break by her employer”.
“Meaning you,” Max adds deadpanned.
“Yup!” she answers grinning proudly.
In less than ten minutes Lando and Daniel have agreed to join him to see Anna in Milan, ffor the EMA’s and then they will all return together to London. She leaves him to continue recording. Lando tries to ask her if it’s a new album but she escapes answering laughing when she hangs up.
