Howdy, howdy, howdy and happy Shattered Space day! I hope everyone is having a fun day!

Chapters 9 and 10 are now live on ao3. The Birthday is almost here and everyone is busy getting the finishing touches on Ashta Creek and their costumes. Costumes I happen to have concepts for:

Keen eyes will pick out costumes based off of RDR2, Deadwood, and other modern western movies and shows. Unfortunately I don't have concept art for Manny's costume, that one slipped my mind at the time that I did most of these back in the spring/early summer.

“Well howdy, Mayor Delgado,” Jacob Coe said with the tip of his adventure’s hat. 

The old man looked different with his more casual getup, a green and blue flannel shirt tucked into some weathered blue jeans with a bolo tie around his neck. Del was still surprised Bella invited him, even with their occasional dealings. He knew the tension between the old man and Sam as well as his over-protectiveness over his granddaughter. But he was assured the old Coe would behave. 

“I see you wanted in on the fun,” Delgado tapped the silver tips of the bolo tie and smiled, “not many of the parents did.”

“Oh you know how it goes,” Jacob smiled, “they think because they’ve grown up they can’t have fun.”

“Speaking from experience?” Sam came to stand beside them. his attention was on his white cotton gloves, tugging at the edge to smooth out a wrinkle.

“Maybe I am,” Jacob conceded, “surprised Jamie was able to get you into a proper suit.”

“Sophie wanted city slickers visiting the frontier,” Sam shrugged, “who better to fit the bill than the Coes?”

“Except for Cora,” Jacob noted.

“Sophie wasn’t going to force anyone into a dress,” Delgado said as he looked down the path to where Cora was leading the gaggle of little kids toward the firing range as she gave them the grand tour of the town with Daiyu and Jazz alongside, “and while it might have given a certain flair to the trick shot routine she came up with, a dress would likely just get in the way.”

“So is the story that the Coes sent their daughter to Ashta Creek to work?” Jacob asked.

“I believe the story Cora came up with was that she was sent to live with her aunt and get the General Store up and running, which the Coe family finances,” Sam offered a tired grin, “and during her free time she practices out a the range with Calamity Jazz.”

“Calamity Jazz?” Jacob raised an eyebrow.

“My top engineer,” Delgado pointed to Jazz with all her dusty leathers and her dented top hat with the long white tail feather stuck in the ribbon, “when everyone was listening to Doc and Cora’s crash course on old Earth wild west history she became enamored with Calamity Jane.”

“I see,” Jacob said as he looked around the property, “you’ve got solid protections in place.”

“We invited some two dozen kids and their parents into ashta country, of course we have protections in place,” Delgado sounded borderline offended as he met eyes with Shinya leaned against a hitching post next to the saloon. Shinya tipped his hat and gave his duster’s inner pocket a loving pat before wheeling around and slipping back inside. Delgado turned to Jacob, “plus I wouldn’t want any of Bella and Sophie’s chickens getting nabbed.”

“Yes, those would be tasty little treats for the locals,” Jacob said sympathetically, “not to dwell too hard on the matter but how bad is the ashta situation out here?”

“Right now not so bad; it’s too fucking hot,” Delgado watched as parents milled about,  talking to the costumed crew and socializing, “in a few months we’ll have to put the reinforced run back up around the coop. Last autumn, when we first moved in, we had days where we all just stayed inside and watched the ashta roam the property. Zhenya and I are pretty sure there’s a den on the other side of the ridge. And the Mossgnath cross the creek to the west to graze with the ranch smack dab in the middle.”

“And to think your grandfather lived out here alone,” Jacob sounded impressed, “the ranch is older than the manor, correct?”

“Si,” Delgado smiled and waved at Sophie as she skipped past with some of the girls toward the General Store with Manny leading the way, “not by much, but it is. Like most of the founding families, the Delgados staked a claim out in the frontier and worked the land while the walls were built.”

“I still remember how mad your father was over Raphael’s decision to leave the ranch to you,” Jacob shook his head, “not because he wanted it, mind you. Pretty sure he was going to knock the old house down to make space for a warehouse or some nonsense. But instead it sat empty, waiting for you.”

“Probably why Abuelo did it,” Delgado said quietly, “Bastian had already ruined enough.”

Jacob took off his hat and wiped the sweat from his brow before smoothing back his hair, “no, Raphael did it because he loved you, Gabriel. You were his whole world. Hell, right there at the end, when he’d moved back to the city for treatment, Raphael talked about you all the time. I remember he and Bastian got into it after one of your more spectacular heists made the news. Raphael seemed to relish in throwing your successes in his son’s face. ‘He’s done more with our family name than you ever did,’ Sat outside the manor taunting Bastian for a while before his nurse walked him back to his apartment.”

Delgado laughed to shake the shock off his face, “that so?”

Happy Birthday Tom McKean born 27th October 1963 in Bellshill, North Lanarkshire.

Tom McKean was undoubtedly our best middle distance runner and would have been one of the world's best if he didn't have two outstanding athletes competing with him at the same time, Sebastian Coe and Steve Cram.

That's not to say he didn't win his fair share of titles, Tom won all his European Cup races from 1985 to 1991. At 800 metres he won the European Championships in Split in 1990 and also the indoor title in Glasgow in the same year.

He also won the World Indoor title in 1993 in Toronto and claimed medals in European Championships in 1986 in Stuttgart where he picked up silver, in the same year Tom won another silver in the Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh along with a silver in the 4x400m relay for Scotland.

To show you how good McKean washis Scottish record for the 800 metres stood for over 33 years and was only broken by Jake Wightman in Brussels in 2022.

Since retiring, Tom has been a polis man in Glasgow for around 23 years, the pic of him in uniform is Tom with Liverpool runner Jamie Webb.

Turning 2023 makeup trends into one makeup look .

2023 make up trend predictions For today's blog, I will be looking at 2023 trend predictions. Thanks to classmate Suzie, who sent all the class an article about 2023 trend predictions written by Ipsy. I now have some idea of the upcoming trends this year. For those who don't know, Ipsy is a website that sells monthly glam bags. Ipsy scoured the social media of top makeup artists to find different predictions.They also talked to Nick Lujan and Jamie Greenberg, both of them being celebrity makeup artists .

After reading the article and looking at the different predictions they made. I have decided to choose 2 of my favourite looks . I have also found another makeup prediction after scrolling through Instagram. This prediction was made by Dazed magazine. They predicted that dark mermaid/siren makeup would become a craze. One of Ipsy's trend predictions was bold blue eyes. They suggested starting off with mascara because blue is an intimidating colour. If you're not confident wearing such a bold colour then blue mascara is a subtle and easy way to embrace the trend. The more confident you feel, the more eye shadow you can add. I chose this trend because I feel like it works well with the other trends i ended up choosing .

The Glazed forehead highlight is an eye-catching glowing look. Glazed skin fits perfectly with all the other dewy skin trends like glass skin & cloud skin . It's the complete opposite of the overly dry matte foundation of the 2010s.

This is the dark mermaid/siren makeup look Dazed used to on their Instagram and in their prediction. Figure 5 All 3 of these looks work together to create this wet mermaid appearance. In this video, you can see the end results of me combining these free looks. I feel like the blue eyes and the glazed skin compliment each other. I look like a mermaid who's just come out of the ocean. To commit to the look, I wet my hair and put on a sparkly blue top to elevate the look. I think this look fits well with the fun and experimental looks people have been doing ever since the 1st lock down in 2020. I feel like beauty and makeup trends are going to keep going down this exuberant and bold style people have been drawn to the past few years.

When doing the research and creating this look on myself, I realised that beauty is steering away from this heavily contoured, picture-perfect Instagram look. While contemporary beauty trends are becoming more fun, expressive, artistic & imperfect. Which reflects the values of the younger generation. From what I've seen, they appreciate authenticity, uniqueness, and creativity. I feel like their values are something that any trendsetters and innovators need to take into consideration.

He sighed through his nose and rounded his desk, reached out, took her free hand and placed the credstick in her palm. He paused there a moment, sandwiching the credits and her hand in his, and said, “you don’t have to be so fucking stubborn about this.”

“I’m the stubborn one?” Jamie laughed and raised her eyebrows.

“I’ve never met anyone as adverse to getting paid for their labor as you,” he shook his head and let go, giving the back of her hand several gentle pats before he turned to return to his chair, “Bella mentioned you had a favor to ask while you were here?”

“Yes,” Jamie looked over the credstick, her eyes locked on the number of zeros at the end of the number trying to not dwell on where the funds came from, “Sam and I find ourselves in a pickle and as shocking as this may sound, you’re the only ones we can think of that can help right now.”

“Your precocious teen in trouble?” Delgado looked amused.

“No, just being a teenager who thinks she knows best,” Jamie shifted her weight and crossed her legs, “Sam and I have some Constellation work coming up that will be taking us out to the Sparta system for a few weeks and Cora declared she would not be joining us, insisting we deserved time to ourselves. When Sam asked her where she planned on staying we were both quietly assuming she’d say the Lodge or Coe Manor but no, her plan is to work with Becker for those two weeks.”

Delgado was in the middle of a sip when she mentioned Becker and spit his coffee back into his mug. He blinked rapidly; the understanding of why that was an issue with the Coes rolling through his head. Becker Mae Preacher was a talented force of nature, a boon to both the Rock and the Liberated, and a chaotic mess with more phantoms hunting them than your average outlaw. Becker’s day to day life made Jamie and Sam look boring. It make the residents of the Delgado ranch look pedestrian. 

“I already tried to get Fox to intervene and she shot down his offer to shadow him for a fortnight,” she sat her mug on the desk and pocketed the credstick, “we’ve tried to talk to her about how unstable Becker’s day to day is and our girl just shrugs it off with a ‘well so is ours most days’ without stopping to listen. We talked about just forcing her to come with us but that would make for the most miserable two weeks either of us can imagine.”

“Have you asked Becker to say no?”

“Do you think Becker would say no? Even if we asked them?”

Delgado made a face that read clearly as ‘good point’ before he asked, “you want us to take her for two weeks? Would she even want to?”

“If you could find something interesting that is legal for her to do for those two weeks  I think she’d jump at it.”

“That so?” Delgado raised his scarred eyebrow and smirked at her, “so no asking her to help run the numbers on our latest shipments?”

Jamie shot him a look, “don’t make me regret asking you.”
