Synopsis: Logan almost crashes into Y/N. He realizes soon after that's his first love, the only woman he ever loved. They continue on in his caravan and things take an unexpected turn.

Being kicked out of the bar where the only source of his money was, wasn't on his bucketlist. How else was he going to make sure he was staying fed? There won't be any more fights that he will end in victorious if he's just a walking skeleton. Not that he would simply crumble from one punch. Not at all.

It just isn't a good look on his reputation.

The Almighty Wolverine.

From massively build to Jack Skellington.

Yeah, not on his watch-

Logan slammed on the brakes as a woman cames into his peripheral view. Her clothes were way too thin for the snowy weather that lingered over the entire county, and he couldn't care less, but when he was about to pass, his eyes settled on her face.

His face went pale.

It was like seeing a ghost.

His mouth opened, searching for the right words in this current situation, but nothing was sufficient enough for whatever's happening.

He slammed on the brakes another time.

But this time, he stepped out.

The blonde woman behind him was looking exactly the same way she looked when he left her behind in their shared home without a word, a letter or anything, ''Y/N...''

The woman's eyes widened in surprise. Her heart was pounding a million miles an hour. All those years she had been searching for him, all those years she longed to let her eyes rake over his body, and here he was - standing in front of him, alive and breathing.

But why couldn't she walk?

Why wasn't she able to approach him? Why did no words leave her mouth and why didn't she embrace him, hugging him in the way she had pictured it in her dreams countless times?

She was just too speechless.

Logan snapped out of his daze, breaking the silence, ''Come on. It's freezing, and I don't want you to have a cold.''

He walked up to her, his hands gently brushing her shoulders when he tugged the jacket he took off securely around her. That ought to warm her up.

His hold on her stayed as he escorted the both of them back to his vehicle. One more minute passed, and they were back on the road.

Without asking permission, Y/N rolled down the window and lifted her hand outside into the chilly air as Logan sped down the highway.

The wind weaved through her fingers like a silken caress. In the background, trees flashed by in such a high speed that it only created one blurry mess. Logan's head hadn't turned from her, a smile threatening to reveal when the memories took over the moment she wiggled her fingers in the strong grip of the air, ''What are you doing out here?''

Y/N sighed. She wasn't even bothered to turn around, just not yet, ''Oh, that's a simple question. I'm surprised you even mustered the care together,'' this time she did turn and her blue eyes held an incomprehensible amount of hostility, ''you didn't leave me the impression it bothered you at all.''

He expected the anger. He expected the violence and the passive aggresiveness he could clearly remember from the fights in the past whenever a woman tried to wrap him around her finger right under Y/N's nose. But this was more than that.

Logan could basically hear the crumble of her broken heart in his ears, almost resonating to his own. When they lived together, it was like nothing could go wrong.

He was able to go to bed watching their favorite shows cuddled together on the couch and wake up in the morning to the angel he was able to call his. But, that one single day, where her life was in danger because of him, he would never be able to withstand another occurence like that.

In his mind, there was only one solution.

Running.

If he wasn't around - if he wasn't near her in any kind of way - the target on her back would lift, disappearing into thin air, leaving her safe and sound from any harm.

It seemed like the solution at the time.

But just the sound of her broken heart made him realize he didn't completely leave her alone. He took a part of her with him. A part so vital that without her whole life crumbled into nothingness.

He cleared his throat, eyes going back to the road, ''Y/N, I'm sorry.''

A scoff escaped her throat, one so cold that it made the snowy atmosphere out the window warmer than the spot where he was seated. And he was sitting in the middle of his heater.

''How can you apologize so easily? Did I mean nothing to you?''

''It's not like that at all!''

''It wasn't,'' the question left a vile taste in her mouth, tears were brimming in her eyes, ''you sure about that? Because I clearly remember going to bed happily after a movie marathon and the next morning you were nowhere to be found. Your stuff was gone but no note. No nothing!''

''You don't get it,'' Logan shook his head, frustration bubbling up into his chest, ''you don't see the whole picture-''

''Then tell me...'' Her voice was merely a whisper, but he could still hear her. Without hesitation, her hand shot out to cover one of his the moment she realized how clenched they were.

She knew better than anyone how much pain he had to endure the minute his claws came into play.

For a second, his body froze. But the familiarity seeped in and it was like nothing had changed.

''Tell me, Logan, tell me why you left.''

Would he endanger her if he did? He closed his eyes for a second and decided to stop at the side for a second.

Y/N's brows furrowed together the minute he stopped and turned the key in the ignition. The engine turned off, alongside with the heater, leaving behind a chilly mountain air.

He grabbed her hands and looked her in the eyes, ''I'm sorry, Y/N. I understand that for you that is just the easy way out, but I really, really mean it. The last thing I wanted was to hurt you. Trust me...''

''Then why did you?''

Logan took it as a good sign when she just stayed put, not pulling her hands out of reach of his.

His heart started pounding, ''You were getting hurt with me around, Y/N. People were going after you because of the connection you had to me.''

A soft chuckle cleared the thick air. The whole conversation lightened up a bit by her reaction. However, Logan didn't expect it. He looked up meeting her eyes, this time relieved he saw the familiar sparkle.

''Logan. My love, I was always going to be a target. And I was able to handle it, because I had you,'' the girl smiled sadly, ''you and I both know that.''

''What about that night?''

Y/N frowned. She wasn't understanding what night he was talking about. But, the more she thought, the more she understood. The night he was speaking about had been on her mind repetetively. ''Some guy thought it was funny to try some breaking and entering. So what?''

Logan couldn't believe his ears, ''So what?! He hurt you. You were stuck in the hospital.''

''With minor injuries,'' Y/N interrupted before this was going to get out of hand, ''you have returned home with much worse. And none of it was as painful as realizing you up and left without a single care in the world!''

''I'm sorry, okay? It- I really thought it was the only solution. The only way to keep you out of harm's way.''

Y/N rolled her eyes. She squeezed his hands, leaning forward, ''I will be able to forgive you, if you just tell me one thing. If we start over - if we go back to where it all ended... Are you going to stay?''

His heart broke that the girl in front of him whom he loved with his entire being was doubting the love he felt for her right now. But with his past actions, she isn't surprised she needs that type of confirmation.

''I will never leave again,'' He pressed his forehead against hers, finally feeling the warmth in his heart return, ''fuck, you have no idea how lonely I was without you.''

Y/N's eyes closed, taking in the familiar sensation that warmed her heart. ''Trust me, I do know.'' The words fell out of her mouth before she realized it.

The words stunned Logan to silence. But Y/N wasn't satisfied, not yet. Her hands pulled away from his and went up to grab a hold of his face, making sure he was looking at her when she said the next thing, ''I love you, James Howlett.''

Logan felt his heart flutter, skipping a beat as the memories took over. He longed for her to appear again, for her to say those simplistic words again. And now that he has heard them, he remembered how it made him feel.

Without a second thought longer, he leaned forward and connected his lips with hers. For years, he has wandered on his own and now that he was finally reunited with the love of his life, he wasn't going to let her go.

Not now, not ever. Not after all this time.

I have 10 pages of comic book layouts staring me in the face and I feel... fear. I see everything that could go wrong and all the paper I'm going to ruin and how my overpenciling is going to leave ghost lines that I won't see until after I ink and how the ink is going to gray after I erase and how the lines aren't going to be the way I want them to be and... and... and... Anyway, I see a couple things that might give me some joy to do and it's like that scene in Lethal Weapon 4, when Riggs and Murtaugh see Jet Li's Wah Sing Ku standing at the end of the pier, seething. Riggs turns to Murtaugh: But Roge. I really want to know how he did that thing with the gun...! Roger Murtaugh squares his shoulders, gives a great big sigh and says: Let's go ask him. They head into a fight that is going to really fuck them up, but know (pretty much know) they'll get through successfully. That's kinda how I feel about those pages.
