Fatal Kiss (2002). I have been waiting for awhile to post this! Awhile back I bought the VHS for the short film Fatal Kiss directed and written by Jeff Rector. The film features Ted Raimi. This was considered lost media for quite awhile. I’m so happy to get to share it all with you.

I currently have it in digital format and am gonna be uploading it to a drive link as well as potentially YouTube. Other places I may upload this will be the internet archive to preserve media. I should be posting it by tomorrow if not tonight:) Thank you all for having patience. Ted Raimi nation I see today as an absolute win for his lost media!

Sorry Teddy that both Fatal Kiss and Fountains Clowns have been found (Although I think he was so good in Fountains Clowns. Still thinking about his chest tattoo they gave him.)

Horror Comedy of the day: The Return of the Living Dead (1985)
Ah, The Night of the Living Dead; a bona fide classic horror film where the dead rise from their graves to feed on the living. But did you know it was based on real life events? Yup, there was indeed a real incident where the US military had a chemical leak in the morgue of a Pittsburg hospital; 2-4-5 Trioxin, an experimental herbicide designed to combat marihuana plants. Seeing it reanimated the corpses and there was no means of neutralizing them for good, they simply quarantined the area and kept those infected in special containers. Yeah… they kind of forced George A. Romero’s hand to change the details as a cover up.
What? Some of the containers ended up in a medical supply facility in Kentucky through a clerical error? And some bloke got one open by accident when trying to impress his teenage employee? Oh, shi-
Directed by Dan O'Bannon and based on a concept by John Russo (co-writer of the aforementioned film), this movie mixes teenage stereotypes with a punk aesthetic and some pitch-black comedy. It is edgy, a tad horny for little to no reason, absurdist, irreverent to the point a select few gags may not fly today, and somehow can make some acts of brutal violence to be the funniest things you'll see that week.
And then there's the horror side to the affairs. If you ever wondered where the trope of zombies eating brains came from, this is your answer. The reasoning behind it is surprisingly disturbing too, which plays to the hubris the story is centered around. The fact they're fully sentient is used to both tragic and horrifying effects, and in spite of their comedic traits these are some of the most relentlessly dangerous zombies ever put to screen.
With some excellent makeup (special shout out to Tony Gardner's MARVELOUS half corpse effect), a delightful local punk soundtrack and a very striking balance between the terror and the fun, it's an absolute blast from the past.
