Another passage from the Cass review that has garnered attention reads as follows: 16.20 For birth-registered females, the impact of testosterone will give a higher sex drive than they might have experienced during their biological puberty, and after one year will result in robust increases in muscle mass and strength (while birth-registered males will maintain their muscle strength) (Wiik et al., 2020). In the absence of any experience as an adult cis-woman, they may have no frame of reference to cause them to regret or detransition, but at the same time they may have had a different outcome without medical intervention and would not have needed to take life-long hormones. [Cass report, p. 195] This seems to suggest that trans male/masculine youth should not take testosterone because, if they do, they will never know what it would have been like to be a cis woman (presented here as the healthier outcome: “without medical intervention”). More crucially, if they do transition sans regret or detransition, well, we can never truly know for sure whether transitioning made their lives substantially better because they don’t have the proper “frame of reference” to assess that (read: because they didn’t turn out cis, we can’t trust anything that they say about themselves). Can you see how twisted this line of thinking is? As bioethicist Florence Ashley responded, “By that logic should we force cis people to take HRT just so they can have a frame of reference for what it’s like to be trans?” Ashley’s comment was obviously intended to illustrate a point, but let’s take their proposal seriously for a moment. What if we administered cross-sex hormones to all adolescents, just to make sure they aren’t trans. If they don’t like the effects, no worries, they can always choose to stop taking these hormones once they’re 18 (when they’re old enough to “know for sure”). After all, many “objective and science-minded” pundits have assured us that there is nothing wrong with forcing trans adolescents into unwanted puberties, so the same probably holds true for cis adolescents, shouldn’t it? And if these kids complain about the effects of this unwanted puberty—discomfort, cognitive dissonance, dysphoria—well, those are subjective feelings and we shouldn’t let them get in the way of science! I’d imagine that this thought experiment generated visceral reactions in many readers (it certainly did for me writing it). Can you imagine the horror of being forced into the wrong puberty? Well, I can. Firsthand. Same goes for most trans people. And if you can relate to how horrific it would be for a cis adolescent to be pushed into a puberty that was abhorrent to them, what’s preventing you from extending those feelings to the trans daughter from the earlier anecdote? Or to the trans boys who Cass seems to think need to experience a cis womanhood in order to acquire a proper “frame of reference”?

I’m a bit older (28) than some of you in the community tho I’ve been here before in the days of PrettyThin. I feel like as I approach my 30s it feels more possible than ever before in recent history to still be living for the aesthetic. Many decades ago 30+ it would have been over aesthetically, now I have something to strive for. Think Julia Fox, Sex and the City… this is what I’m working towards, unapologetic aesthetic in my late 20s and 30s (hopefully beyond).

smile. show a little teeth. enough that it looks more like a snarl. no heat behind it yet - you won’t do anything to him (not after what just happened, not when tensions are already this high) and he knows it, but it’s a warning nonetheless. one that he refuses to listen to.

“if you think they’re the same,” you continue on, ignoring the way your sickly-sweet tone drags an angry tidal wave from him through the connection, “I guess that explains why you don’t know anything about either of them.”

it’s a low blow, and the both of you know it.

it’s immediate. dismissive. angry. angrier than you’ve heard him get with you in years. it hurts a bit, and you’re sure it’ll hurt more later, after this argument is over and you’re replaying it in your mind, but for now it just helps to fuel your own anger. to prove your point. to make you feel less guilty about pushing him back, the same way one would on a bruise, hoping it hurts. you want it to hurt. you want him to hurt. you don’t know why.

“why’re you mad?” you ask, widening your eyes in faux innocence. the smile-snarl tips back to friendly, even if it’s too large and full of teeth to genuinely come across that way. which is fine, considering its dishonesty. “all three of us know that julia’s the only “family” you care about.”

she’s not here to take it personally (or defend herself), but you watch river’s expression harden that much more at just the mention of her name. you always suspected he knew the root of your distance from her - as much distance as anyone with the last name ortega would allow, anyway - but this confirms it. he’s known this entire time that you had an issue with his “sister,” and he’s ignored it.

“she left you.” you enunciate each word clearly, continuing to treat him like an unruly child just to watch his rage spike. you want him to hit you, a passing thought hisses. you dare him to. to show himself that he’s not any better than cyrus, but you love him anyway. because he’s your brother. your brother, not hers.

Thame Po is just so luscious and slow, romance-forward with a nice B-plot to drive it. The light has that enchanting glow from the Parbdee Thaweesuk production (especially reminds me of their work on The Trainee this year). And for a show about musicians, it restrains itself with its music cues. I was just appreciating moments of white noise this episode and how they lent more weighted attention to William and Est's performances, which can do all the emotional work needed. The whole thing rings of proper adult romance, those 90s gems with Meg Ryan or Julia Roberts, which is a rare treat in BL, the kind of show you want to watch under a blanket with a pint of ice cream while you cry and fantasize.

Lucille receives a notification from Instagram. Her eyes reads along the line of THE Charles Leclerc liking her story and her post.

The first instinct she does was to call Julia and fangirl with her.

The two girls was screaming at the top of their lungs as if they have won a lottery. Her profile getting followed and her post getting more engagement due to Charles' engagement to it.

Her phone pings, Julia sending her articles of "their" supposed relationship. When in fact, her and him are completely strangers to one another.

Some fans goes far as calling her homewrecker saying that she ruined Alexandra's ans Charles' perfect relationship.

Lucille hangs the call, closing her phone to detox.

"Anak? Okay ka lang ba?" (Lucille? Are you okay?) Her mother questions as she enters the room with Lucille's favorite snack.

"Okay lang po ako, ma." (I'm fine, mom) Lucille answers with an assuring smile on her lips.

The girl takes the snack and place it on her nightstand. Her mother was not chronically online, so she remains oblivious to what is happening.

The media is now calling her the new love interest. The scary part is, they are trying to get more information on her.

Good thing, she doesn't input her information in any of her social media accounts. Only birthday and nickname.

Lucille saw the notification and decided to ignore it.

Charles is definitely just being a nice gentleman and appreciating his fans support for him. She knows that the man is still undergoing a heartbreak recovery.

Probably, sooner Charles will undo everything and realizes he is being hazy.

But Lucille despite her self-assurance could not shake it off. Why her? Why did he chose her to interact with? Was there any reasons?

Something in her mind is telling her something.

The invisible red string glowing gold as two soulmates has found their way to one another.

Entangled with hardship but by the looks of the string, it was a string that is strong and cannot be cut off.

Meanwhile.

Charles accidentally liked his fan's post and story. Her congratulating him and posting him on his story, he felt big joy seeing it.

He knows his fans are ones who never gives up on him and so, he will not give up on them either.

Charles couldn't undo the like thinking that the user might think he didn't like their post and story, so he let it be.

But the next few hours, he didn't expect that it will blow up and a theory about his relationship. He couldn't understand, why he couldn't appreciate his fans at peace without a rumor being created?

He returns to the user's profile and liked the newly posted story about the situation, them clearing things up.

Charles accidentally clicked the follow as if his finger has its own mind. He panics making him close the phone and pace around the room.

He couldn't unfollow the user now especially his eagle-eyed fans that saw him following the account.

He is so doom. He is so done.

The media will have a field day with this. All because his fingers always slips up with this particular account.

Indeed, the medias has released articles about it already. Not even an hour passed and there are articles already.

He starts to feel bad for the person he dragged into this. The innocent person behind the account will be entangled in this mess.

Despite his panic, there is a certain feeling of familiarity. A sense of knowing towards the account as if he have know the person behind it for a long time.

The red string of fate do really have its own way. The accidents that he experience were not accidents but a glimpse of the future.
