The JFK Assassination - Was Hoffa Involved?

The assassination of John F. Kennedy is a day that many Americans will never forget. On November 22nd, 1963, the 35th president of the United States was taken out by a sniper during his presidential motorcade through Dallas, Texas around 12:30pm. The assassin was a former U.S marine named Lee Harvey Oswald, who claimed to have acted alone before being taken out himself by Jack Ruby. So, what does this have to do with Jimmy Hoffa? Well, there is wide speculation that he was involved in helping to arrange the assassination. 

According to one of Jimmy Hoffa’s lawyers, Frank Ragano, it was in early 1963 when Hoffa supposedly asked Frank to carry a message to Santos Trafficante, the mob boss of Florida, and Carlos Marcello, the mob boss of New Orleans, asking them to help arrange the hit. Trafficante supposedly confirmed on his deathbed that he and Marcello did indeed help Jimmy Hoffa with his favor. Another mobster that may have been involved was Sam Giancana, the mafia boss of Chicago that greatly helped influence the election to help ensure Kennedy’s victory. When the Kennedy brothers decided to betray the mafia and go after organized crime figures, not only was Giancana irate, he was personally targeted for prosecution. 

A former cell-mate of Carlos Marcello, named Jack Van Laningham, claims that the Mafia don told him that Lee Harvey Oswald had visited him in New Orleans on several occasions and that “he was my man, and will do whatever the hell I tell him to.” Marcello then told his celly that Jack Ruby has owed the mob big time, and was therefor asked to silence Oswald after he completed the hit on John F. Kennedy. He then followed through on this request by stalking Oswald and fatally shooting him in the gut on November 24th, 1963, just two days after the assassination 

There is no solid evidence to back up these claims, however, it is definitely thought provoking and makes you wonder just how much influence the underworld of organized crime really has on the world.

Why has the CIA been Hiding the JFK Files for 62 Years?

Now that all of the principals who were alive when John Fitzgerald Kennedy was murdered in Dallas, Texas on November 22, 1963 are dead, there are only two reasons — neither mutually exclusive — to explain why the complete files have not been released — 1) The CIA is implicated in the assassination and/or 2) A country with influence in the United States is implicated.

While many have speculated that the CIA is hiding evidence that Cuba was involved, the CIA has no reason, in my judgment, to withhold evidence of Cuba’s guilt. I have shied away from pursuing the various JFK assassination theories, but I recently came across a video by Ryan Dawson that suggests a credible reason for keeping the files from the public — Israel is implicated.

What!!!??? That was my first reaction. But then I listened and examined the evidence proffered by Ryan. There is certainly some smoke that points to Israel and members of Jewish organized crime. Why would Israel be involved? Let me summarize Ryan’s argument — the Kennedy’s represented an existential threat to Israel:

1 Prior to the assassination, the Kennedys wanted Israel inspected for nuclear weapons. The CIA had collected evidence from Dimona indicating that the Uranium Israel was processing had been illegally removed from the US Nautilus project via NUMEC (i.e., Nuclear Materials and Equipment Corporation). 2 John and Robert Kennedy supported Palestinians right of Return. 3 President Kennedy directed Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy, in October 1963, to require the Zionist Organization of America to to register as foreign agents. 4 JFK along with France’s Charles de Gaulle, who also survived an assassination attempt, supported Algeria independence. 5 Robert F Kennedy was prosecuting aggressively Italian and Jewish mobsters. Many of the Jewish mobsters played a direct role in providing Israel with weapons prior to and after Israel’s establishment as a country in 1948. Jack Ruby, aka Jacob Rubenstein, was involved with the Italian mafia.

This does not prove that Israel or some of its agents helped kill Kennedy, but there is circumstantial evidence warranting further investigation. This would not be the first time that Israel attacked the United States. Just ask the survivors of the USS Liberty. However, this provides one reasonable explanation for why the CIA wants to keep the files locked away.

Keeping the files secret no longer makes sense. President Trump is now on the record, vowing to release the files. Let’s see if he keeps his promise.

My dad is a retired journalist and we got on the subject of writing and he said that he doesn't want to write fiction because he doesn't think that any fiction he writes would ever be original- there was always someone who would have already made that story so why write it?

My dad is 70 years old and he was once the target of the mafia because he wrote a book about a now-deceased conman who maybe sort of had ties to the assassination of JFK but was DEFINITELY tangled up in some of the Frank Sinatra business and I swear if he'd just called it 'historical fiction' and filed off the serial numbers on the characters we wouldn't have to worry about some strangers from Vegas showing up at his softball games to ask him what he knows.

overly specific modern day au headcanons for the umbrella academy

ben: worked for the mafia and only realised one year after he got fired. threw a fire hydrant at a neo-nazi once. possibly did it again. and also possibly did so near a cop and had to run tf away.

five: voted most unhinged in college because diego already dibbsed the most likely to go to jail for life title. unable to grow facial hair so once he superglued a mink moustache to his face (he was allergic to the glue and was in hospital for a week). cartoonishly bad luck. designated driver even though he failed his license test 5 times.

HIII BETH !! For anyone who is unaware, mafia 3 is a game I talk about incessantly over on my mostly-fandom blog, @rottingmanifesto . But I’m lazy so I’m answering this here. Yay.

How I feel about this character

Morally-gray 1960s CIA agent driven to make America fair for all Americans, while causing some chaos recreationally (because it’s the 60s and he’s in the CIA). Not necessarily a good person, but definitely a good character. I’m VERY selective about my interpretations of him. But when done correctly, he’s a fantastic character to analyze and funny to boot. Also, his sarcasm is fantastic. It’s the Reddit bros that ruin him the most.

All the people I ship romantically with this character

Alcoholics Anonymous. Lincoln and John are cute, John and Aldridge are horrible for each other but balance out well, etc. This man just needs to get out of the closet. It’s see-through glass.

My non-romantic OTP for this character

He isolates himself from others a lot of the time, but I really do like his bond with Lincoln. Romantic, friendship, mutual trust (even if Lincoln doesn’t think he’s kind of insane), what-have-you. FJ is such a hater and John just does not give a fuck outside of FJ being a religious figure. It’s fun. Marshall and John are begrudgingly pleasant (former) coworkers.

My unpopular opinion about this character

Allow fictional characters to have faults and time-accurate views, please. I have major beef with both Reddit bros AND Tumblr users who try to characterize John as wholly good or wholly bad. He’s 1: a CIA agent in the 60s, no shit, but also 2: a registered Democrat who adored JFK and vocally advocated for the promotion of a mixed race man in the US Army, and actively abhors white supremacist groups. He’s not always morally upstanding, yeah, and that’s fine because he’s not fucking real.

Also no, liking a fictional CIA agent character doesn’t make someone an imperialist. It’s a video game. Y’all (here and Reddit) need reading comprehension + media analysis skills. I mean this is the “how dare you say we piss on the poor” website so I can’t wait to see this be misconstrued 🩵

One thing I wish happened with this character in canon

Stones Unturned as a DLC sucked I can’t lie— I like Aldridge fine enough even though he’s really bland to me, Marshall is interesting I guess, but there was literally no reason for it to occur and was so tonally unconnected to the game itself— but a John-and-Linc DLC done right would’ve been great. I’ll write something someday. Probably.
