September 8, 2022

Refueled and left Albuquerque at around 9:00. We made a stop at the bathrooms, where one of the workers told us about the Russian olive tree that was planted out front. (Forgot to take pictures.) He said the olives would be ripe after a cold snap in a couple months, and the tree was 70 years old. He squished an olive and handed it to us so we could see how it was white and powdery inside, almost like sand. We thanked him for telling us about the tree, and got back in the van. (After some research, it looks like this tree may be invasive.)

Another refuel later, and we crossed the state border into the panhandle of Texas. One of our teammates wanted to see Cadillac Ranch, so we stopped for several minutes. We got spray paint, and a few of us tagged our team and names.

We made another stop for some teammates to pick up lunch and continued on through the panhandle and into Oklahoma. We arrived at our hotel at around 19:00, unpacked, and watched a couple people perform wheelies on all-terrain vehicles:
