In November, Matt Corby released 'Problems' - his first new music since 2020. Now, the multi-award winning artist has followed it up with 'Reelin' and news that both tracks will feature on his first album since his J Award-winning 2018 album Rainbow Valley.

It's out on 24 March and called Everything's Fine - a mildly tongue-in-cheek title given the past few COVID-shaped years and Corby's home being impacted by floodwaters.

"The day that those first floods hit northern New South Wales was the day we were supposed to start recording," the songwriter and producer told triple j recently.

But little of that angst makes its way into 'Reelin'. The new single is a soulful, unhurried jam that goes down smoothly thanks to Corby's buttery vocals and some deft brass. .

Despite his artistic struggles in the past, Corby's third studio album is the product of a man living a more contented existence.

“I'm at a really beautiful point in my life," he says. "I'm accepting all this stuff: the good and the bad, but particularly the bad. Which is kind of great. It’s a good thing to come to that point."

"Life isn't always magical, but the moments that are, well you really value them. I think this record is about that, about managing your actual reality. Sometimes I have those moments when you realise: well I'm still breathing, you still have the gift of life, so everything is fine I guess?”

Recorded at his Rainbow Valley Studios in Byron with Chris Collins (his clients include Gang of Youths, Middle Kids, and Skegss), Everything's Fine is Corby's first full-length project since launching his own independent record label, Rainbow Valley Records.

In the five years since his last album, Corby's also kept busy writing and producing for other artists, most notably ARIA & NIMAs winner Budjerah, fellow J Award winner Genesis Owusu, Jack River, Great Gable, and BLESSED.

"It's been really fun and I've been really enjoying it. Probably more so than doing my own music," Matt told triple j recently. "There's so much less pressure I think and I feel like I have better ideas for other people than I do for myself..."

Everything's Fine is out 24 March via Rainbow Valley Records.

"in what world/context would leonardo ninja turtle ever meet javier asrahan" genuinely? i could not tell you. portal shenanigans or something on leo's end i guess... he does get lost for quite a while according to the farewell comic, maybe this is one of the places he ends up. somehow...

javier has no idea what or who this turtle-creature-person is, but he can speak and seems friendly so it's probably fine. javier also has no clue what the heck a "phone" is, how to "take a selfie", or how to "skateboard", but the person - who claims to be named "neon leon" - seems to be very genuinely happy to be showing javier these things so playing along can't hurt, right?

"do you have pizza here? does fantasy europe know about pizza? what about pineapples?" the turtle muses, swiping away at that "phone" of his. javier is reminded of the many times lloyd would throw strange, new terms into their conversations. distantly, fondly, he wonders if it'd be worth asking the noble about all these new things he's learned from leon today.

(later, lloyd is finishing up a blueprint at his desk when his knight approaches, lost in thought, and asks,

"sir, do you know how to make a 'pizza'?"

I have never once in my life watched the BAFTA awards but you best believe I have set multiple alarms and reminders prior to today so I wouldn't forget about them. Is it because David Tennant is hosting? Yes.
