I never see anyone talking about these flowers and I love them so much so I'm totally going to infodump

Like probably a lot of people, these are my favorite flowers because I grew up around them. I live in a city more dedicated to providing green, outdoor spaces now, but not all cities are like that. When I grew up in Dallas, it was like growing up in a maze of cement. Summers were hot, and winter winds will flay your skin off, on a backdrop of grimy damp and cigarette-gasoline-city-smog-scent. Dallas is maybe the least colorful major city in Texas.

So the first time I saw these flowers as a wee lass, I nearly fell over, I was so dumbstruck.

Frustratingly, I can't find a picture quite as I remember them - growing by the thousands on the banks of highways, in otherwise completely ecologically blank zones inhospitable to anything else but lawn grass.

Some people call them wildflowers, and some people call them weeds, because they will grow in droves anywhere a seed happens to fall. They hibernate during the colder months and come spring, will have multiplied to the nth degree. Each flower blooms for exactly one day, though each flower doesn't quite bloom on the exact same day every year. So annually, for a couple of weeks a year, you can find otherwise unremarkable fields utterly saturated with little pink flowers.

I have a childhood memory of begging my mom to pull over so we could see the flowers. In hindsight I can't believe she agreed, because adult-me understands why a single mother would not have wanted to pull over on the highway so her kid could play, but she must have found a good spot for it.

And I LOVED it - they were so beautiful, and the expanse of them was even more dramatic in-person. I plucked a couple to put in my hair.

The flower is even edible. And interestingly, flowers produce ant food and attaches it to its seeds - so ants drag the food home, seeds and all, and end up growing tons of new primrose directly in the colony - on top of a rich compost bin. Win-win for the local ecosystem.

Which also means when an unsuspecting child picks the flower, when it's invested all its resources to look as attractive as possible for its one blooming day a year, it is most certainly FULL of ants.

The pink evening primrose gave me an awe-inspiring spot of beauty in an otherwise inhospital gray urban wasteland. My mom, and her rare moment of indulgence. And a nostalgia-fogged memory of shrieking laughter in a field of flowers, shaking ants out of my hair.

What's everyone's favourite flowers that aren't like. The normal ones. Like everyone's a fan of roses and sunflowers what's a more niche one. One you don't get in gift sets. Mine's sweet peas

i saw a post about 3L!Grian meeting SL!Scar, but since SL!scar never died i figured he can't see any of the winners nor join them before the next session, and they appear before him as shadows. also, i thought 3L!Grian would be really happy to see a scenario where scar didnt die by his hand and actually won.
