calling it right now that season 3 starts like this

This is so shanks coded to me. Like he just keeps losing people and he never learns how to deal with it. So much so that he becomes the abandoning parent. He literally knows nothing else all he has as a frame of reference is all the adult figures in his life leaving him and telling him it is for the best. So why exactly wouldn’t he believe that the best way to love someone is by letting go?
He does it to Luffy, he does it to Uta and in some ways he does it to Buggy and Mihawk too. Because he never just asks them to stay. He lets Buggy run out of his life even though it was pretty obvious that Buggy wanted Shanks to fight for this to take a stand a real one on a conviction for once and he…doesn’t, he just lets buggy leave.
And then he hitches his wagon to the most flighty (dude is literally a bird motif 😭) mother fucker he can find. he lets Mihawk wander in and out of his life as he pleases regardless of what is best for either of them. Because maybe Mihawk has nothing better to do 👀. Maybe he would say yes now if Shanks asks. but Shanks would rather die than ask, would cut off his other arm before he even attempted to “clip Mihawk’s wings”
And that’s like the truth of it. Shanks has been abandoned by every person that has ever loved him besides his crew and he knows they will never leave him. But Maybe he just wants someone to stay not because they call him captain.
#shanks is the quintessential abandoned child syndrome#that grows into the leave them before they can leave you adult#except he does it in a nice way and because he does genuinely think he is helping them make the best decisions for their lives#which as shown with uta and Luffy is a pretty big hit or a disastrous miss#you can pry shanks and his abandonment issues out of my cold dead hands#honestly this is kind of#shuggy#because I do think Buggy wanted shanks to put up more of a fight to keep them together#the same way he wanted him to go after the one piece#buggy and shanks arrested development at 15#mishanks#shanks and his abandonment issues entering a bar and choosing to attach himself to the one person most likely to just up and leave at dawn#is so funny to me#because truly that is such a daddy issues move 😭#but honestly maybe I do think Mihawk would have agreeded (petulantly maybe) if Shanks had just asked#Hell he’s in cross guild and all crocodile had to do was make a phone call#but they also have the divorce that Mihawk’s not completely over which complicates things#god I need to see the interact in canon 😭#shanks unable to form a stable relationship with someone he didn’t adopt into his crew challenge impossible#buggy the clown#shanks#red haired pirates#red haired shanks#red hair shanks#akagami no shanks#mihawk and shanks#buggy x shanks#uta one piece#monkey d. luffy#one piece

Something I think is cute is that - y’know how Raph’s eyes are more on the yellow side?
Well, you know who also has slightly yellowed eyes? Donnie.
While Raph’s are more yellow, I think it’s cute that this is something that they share and I don’t see it pointed out too often?
It’s also something they both share with Draxum and Splinter’s current form (though again, these two have much more yellow sclera than the boys do.)
But yeah, I like that there’s this little detail that ties Raph and Donnie together, even if it’s small.
#rottmnt#rise of the teenage mutant ninja turtles#rottmnt raph#rottmnt donnie#rise donnie#rise raph#there are a few screenshots that look like Donnie’s eyes were colored more white like Leo and Mikey#but the vast majority has his eyes and teeth yellowed a little#not quite to Raph’s level but enough to be noticeable especially when you contrast it to Mikey Leo and April#I see a lot of art on here not giving Donnie his yellowed sclera and it makes me sad a little#bc Mikey and Leo have soooo many things tying them together design wise (mainly their shells)-#so its nice to keep the things tying Raph and Donnie together as well (their sclera + how THEIR shells are both basically just green)#(+ how even when Donnie makes his battleshells he keeps them one color - just like Raph’s shell)#I’m looking too hard into this but Brains and Brawn is a Good Duo#you could also - considering the show’s theme of giving the less ‘human’ characters more yellowed sclera- consider this design decision-#-a way to show that Mikey and Leo are species of turtles more acclimated to humans since their breeds are very often pets (esp Leo)#whereas Raph and Donnie are species that are more commonly just left in the wild#idk I just think it’s an interesting design decision tbh#esp considering you can see this human acclimation from the very start with the boys as well#with how readily Mikey and Leo interact with Splinter#whereas Raph bites and Donnie is completely disinterested#i like when their species has an effect on their characters tbh#like how Leo being the Face Man makes perfect sense since Red Eared Sliders are the most popular pet turtle BECAUSE they’re pretty-#-and better with people than most other species#Mikey too being so gung-ho about people makes sense for these same reasons#as ornate box turtles as well are very popular pet turtles#idk they’re just fun I love these guys#also- I love when people give Raph a huge tail it’s so cute

#mii#super smash bros#ssbu#mii fighter#mii brawler#mii swordfighter#mii gunner#my art#I still have artblock unfortunately but it sure was nice drawing the trio again#to me they are the best of friends (and maybe more) and it makes me happy seeing them all together#For the bottom left doodle I have the headcanon that the default Mii Fighters are in charge of all the Mii Fighters#which means they help them register/sign up for Smash and show them around and train them in whichever movesets they choose#so if you need help figuring out combos or movesets or just want feedback you can go straight to them and they'll be happy to help you out#also if you look very carefully you can see that I am not at all consistent with Swordfighter's hair#one day... one day I'll learn how to draw him right...
