It's a bit painful how hard I can relate. I'm terrified. I started the day texting friends, "Election day today, here's hoping I don't lose my rights!" but now that the possibility is so real... it's scary. I'm afraid for myself. I'm afraid for my partner. I'm afraid for my parents. I'm afraid for my siblings. I'm afraid for my friends. I'm scared and I want nothing more than to curl up in a ball and be a kid again and cry. I have to just let myself believe that it will be okay because I have taken all the action I can. Even if I lose my rights and/or my life goes to shit, I won't shut up. I refuse to ever be quiet. I'll try to let myself sleep, to care for myself, because wrecking myself over things that I can't do anything more right now about isn't fair to anyone.
To all my fellow scared people, never shut up. The second to choose to be silent, the second we choose to give up, is the second we lose.

Stay strong, everyone. He may have taken our government, but do not let him take your spirit. Do not give up. Do not let him win.
Do. Not. Kneel.
We'll get through this. Together.

hi im asking this genuienly, i hope i dont sound rude please correct me if im wrong about anything
while yes i think as an idea israel is a good idea and im happy it served as a refugee state for many jewish people, esp mizrahi, i am conflicted as israel was not implemented by peaceful means that made all parties happy. idk i just dont agree with how so many people got displaced from their homes(the nakba).. and even then israel still has some control over the palestinian territories like in gaza where they control how much aid enters and palestinians arent treated as legitimate citizens either. like you mentioned the israeli leadership is really not well liked and im glad thats the case and i hope a new government gets established
i think right now israel should recognise palestine as a legitimate state and should pay reparations and should allow all the refugees to return back
idk im just really conflicted and im young and so many people are saying so many different things and its really overwhelming.. i just want everyone to be happy and safe, its really scary
anyways thank you your post was helpful overall. i love your moonknight essays as well
It's okay to feel conflicted that Israel wasn't created in a peaceful fashion.
No one should have to be displaced from their homes. I wish that a peaceful solution could have been found and everyone could have found refuge.
And there are Israelites that are fighting for the rights of the Palestinian territories. I know a group that noted that there are farm lands that Palestinians own that are repeatedly threatened and invaded. They are working to secure that farm land for the Palestianians and to stop the raids. These people are from a Jewish organization that is trying to promote peace between the two.
The thing is, so many people right now are angry at events that are happening and feel helpless over what's happening. They want it to stop and have no way to do this, so they are attacking innocent people that have no power or anything to do with these events.
A people are not their government. Can you imagine if Someone attacked you because they disliked anything Trump had to say?
I stand by what I said that new leadership is needed and the two nations need to legitimately be mediated so that the people can stop dying and finally all feel safe and like they belong in their own homes. On all sides.
It's okay to be scared by it. This is a scary situation and a scary time. I'm not young and I'm scared. There is so much hate going around and so much anger. People are so ready to be angry and jump on the first reason to be angry.
It's okay to want people to be happy and safe. It's okay to ask questions. It's okay to question what everyone is saying.
I always encourage people to listen to multiple stories, do their own research, and come up with their own educated oppinions.
But above all, I just want people to be kind.

Also the primary beneficiaries of us believing 'All is lost!' are the greedy corporations that got us into this mess. Now that denial is no longer available, doom is their best option to avoid taking responsibility.
Screw that.
If you're feeling overwhelmed, like none of your personal choices have an impact so what's the point, then I would direct you toward the very simple, yet powerful thing you (as an American) can do to help the US, and the world, reach our climate goals: Vote for Kamala Harris.
An analyses by Carbon Brief found that re-electing Trump could add 4 billion tonnes to US carbon emissions by 2030—that's equal to the annual emissions of the EU and Japan combined. And for what? So fossil fuel companies can add a little more to their bottom line while while Trump enjoys his turbine-free view of the ocean as it boils?
Biden-Harris and the Dems passed the biggest piece of climate legislation in US history and their work—as unglamorous and wholly underappreciated as it was—is what Trump would be undoing. Democratic leadership set us up to cut the combined annual emissions of 28 developed nations. Think about that. Now Trump wants to roll it all back.
Again, I say, screw that.
Vote for Kamala. Vote all the way down the ballot because so much of climate mitigation, adaptation and conservation is happening at the local and state level.
And make those personal choices to limit plastics or plant native or whatever because—just like voting—every person matters.
today my wisdom is: the ecological crisis of our planet is not a thing that will Suddenly destroy us sometime in the next century—it has taken decades of continuous work for our biosphere to be preserved thus far, and it will take decades more of continuous work to continue preserving it.
The apocalypse is not a single event hovering in the future bearing down on us while we sit helplessly. We are at least 150 years into an ongoing "apocalypse."
Things will continue to steadily get worse without steady action, but "augh! it's already too late to stop climate change and mass extinctions!" is specifically the worst response

**Not Okay**
I am not okay today.
So, in the absence of okay,
what else can I be?
I can be gentle.
I can be unashamed.
I can turn my pain into connection.
I can be a student of stillness.
I can be awake to nature.
I can sharpen my empathy
against the stone of my discomfort.
I am not okay,
but I am many worthy things.

To everyone saying this is going to 'give the right more power to do what they will'...
you realize they were going to anyway right? Like, you know this shit is inevitable? Right? You do know, don't you? What we're headed for? The same thing as everyone else. It's not a good thing, no, but we (The United States) need to stop seeing ourselves as "too good" for things like that to happen here. That's why we say "Free Palestine" that's why we root for Hong Kong and Sudan, and Haiti, and everywhere where the people are fighting loudly against the powers that bind and subjugate them.
Because it can (and is and will) happen here. It has before and no matter what we do, it will again. Every student of history knows this. I hate making real shit about fiction, but I don't know what else will reach some of you boneheads: It's like when Frodo tells Gandalf he wishes all the shit with Sauron wasn't happening in his time. Then Gandalf tells him, so does everyone. Cowboy tf up anyway bc it's here and it's happening no matter what we wish.
I'm paraphrasing, of course, but you get it.
We are headed toward something and it will not stop, just because we will it to. Even with voting, how long before a coup happens? Before there are more fascistic supporters to enforce the decisions that hurt everyone rather than stand against them? How long? Fours years? A year? A month? We don't know but it will take action to survive it. Sometimes violent action. And people will die, sometimes even by choice. All we can do is prepare and remember who we are even when we are forced into a corner and there is nowhere left to run or to hide.
