I rewatched Zuko and Azula's Agni Kai recently and it's left me wondering – when Zuko begins to goad Azula into striking him with lightning, was he making the decision to kill her?

Because had Azula shot lightning directly at him like he planned and not at Katara, the most forthright implication to me is that he was intending to strike Azula with her own lightning. And Azula, for all her mastery, would not have been able to counter that.

On the other hand, maybe he wasn't planning to kill her at all and was simply planning to redirect it elsewhere (similar to what he did with Ozai). But given the tone of tragedy throughout the Agni Kai, the fact that they both acknowledge that this fight will be "the end" to them, I don't think it's inaccurate to read Zuko's actions as him preparing to kill Azula, even though an Agni Kai doesn't have to end with death (and in canon it didn't). Also, why goad her into striking him with lightning if he wasn't planning on doing something intentional with it? If anything, it adds another layer to the tragedy to me, because I don't believe Zuko wants to kill her. And it stands in such contrast to the way that Azula desperately wants to kill him.

I also think that there would have even been something sadly poetic in that sort of demise for Azula should the Agni Kai had gone this direction: Azula, struck down by her preferred sub-skill. Azula, struck down by the very bolt of lightning that she intended to kill her brother with. Azula, struck down by her own power.

I had a 15hrs flight a couple of days ago so I finally took the opportunity to start The Silt Verses (because of your blog) and let me say: uh! It really is good, isn't it?

Also I was expecting for it to be way more.. horrifying? So far it's pretty tame (I only listened up to ep 8 yet).

i mean, that means you did just listen to paige telling you about watching her laid off colleagues getting cooked alive as sacrifices, so idk what your threshold for "tame" is, but it definitely gets more directly-in-your-ears-as-if-you're-there grotesque in s2 and beyond. s1's sound design is the weakest and least flexible.

okay but can we talk about how ???? Lucius is with Edward? Like this man is a freak I can’t hold it in anymore. How did one episode make a man get revealed as a fucking freak in a way.

Ed has both gassed up a entire group of cops which made them fear about a poison threat he made up, held Lucius’s coworker hostage dangling over a flight of stairs, admitted to having something to do with their missing mayor via omission (not responding at all when Lucius asked him about it) broke into Lucius’s car and pointed a gun at him once Lucius got in ALL IN THE SAME DAY AND HE DOESN'T FREAK OUT ONCE???? He doesn’t freak out at all with Edward. Never once does he freak out. He stays level headed, empathetic and genuinely caring about Edward’s mental state while talking to him???? The way he’s so level headed here feels like he has a fucking screw loose in his cranium. Literally how.

Mind you Ed is a man who his first interaction with was ED ADMITTING HE HAD A MISSING COP IN HIS HOME VIA A RIDDLE. HIS SECOND INTERACTION WITH THIS MAN IS HIM MAKING HIM ANSWER FUCKING RIDDLES IN ARKHAM OR ELSE HE WILL KILL THEM BOTH WITH POISON. I KNOW HE WAS BLUFFING ABOUT THE POISON HERE AGAIN BUT GENUINELY HOW IS HE ALWAYS LEVEL HEADED WITH THIS MAN. FREAK BEHAVIOR!!!!

Also him acting like this strengthens the fact the only riddle he got right was reflection. He understands at least some part of Ed. Even though that part is small and fuzzy in his understanding, it’s still something. It’s still something that he can empathize with. Something that is worth trying to understand more of even despite their brief encounters. God do I love his weird push over ways with Ed it’s so fucking fun I wish they interacted more. This is horrific for me

A Tuesday with Vila's personality is something her baby HATES. She's nice, careful, attentive and tells stories to children without the intent to scare them for life. She's genuinely a sweetheart that lets the kids comb her hair or drag her around to show her stuff.

Her stories, while still being horror stories, are told in a more soft and caring manner, as if telling them a bedtime story.

For those that really enjoyed Miss Horror, it's a shame to interact with her being just a simple Motel Maid that enjoys the company of children, like a caring mother tending to the children. People find her more approachable this way, not like they'd actually approach her since she's still a bit herself.

Those piercing eyes, that ability to know everything that's in your mind, your deepest and most embarrassing fears. She's still Tuesday, just watered down to being a compassionate person, a loving comrade, and the best support there is.

At one point her baby got so tired of being carried by her sweet and compassionate mother that she cried all day long, Tuesday had no idea what to do with it.

Turns out, Vila could take care of such a whiny little child...

Vila with Tuesday's personality is quite a nightmare for some, and an unwanted discovery for others (Windsong)

A more malevolent, mean-spirited and evil version of Vila is not something everyone expected. Her ominous voice, searching gaze and poker face, mixed with that same whiny little bundle in her arms, it doesn't give off any friendly vibe.

She's not seen with children that often, as her scary aura devoid of warmth tends to scare them off. Especially because that's Vila we're talking about, a kindhearted person that from one day to another, turned into a living nightmare.

There's still that warm and kind facade, but since everyone already knows her deal, it's not like it sticks there for long.

It also doesn't help that her usually optimistic voice becomes a hushed whisper, only making it harder to figure out.

Apparently, it just so happened to be a sexual awakening for someone. Turns out that having a very pretty lady stare you down with such a demanding and frightening look and such hurtful and mocking words leads to a couple embarrassing moments.

Ask Windsong, whose understanding of life got twisted the moment Vila started being a little demeaning and mocking towards her.
