A terrifying shot with a sniper and an even more daunting opponent in the ring, Captain Petrakis remains one of the few people who goes toe to toe with the Commander when they disagree on a mission or a plan. The way she towers over almost all of her subordinates and knows just about every pressure point to incapacitate or kill a man is likely the reason soldiers tend to walk the other way when she's on her warpath. She's nothing if not good at her job though, just stay out of her sights.

DRS Universe Info Post

Hey all! This is going to be a long post, and it's going to break down a lot of my work on the universe!

🛑What is the DRS Universe?

The DRS Universe is a connected fictional Formula One-centric universe. The history of the sport generally follows the real world counterpart, and for the most part, the world is kept as similar to the real world as possible, but things such as sponsors, drivers, teams, wins and events throughout the history of the sport are brand new.

🛑General Info/Q&A:

🛑Why does the DRS Universe Exist? I'm a very big fan of F1 and of Writing, and I wanted to mix those things together and write an F1-Based novel. I'm also a fan of creating OC's and having more control over what I write, so it was only natural that I'd make my own teams and drivers. That expanded to stuff like sponsors and some brands and companies in the universe, etc. I tried to keep the broader strokes of the sports history accurate to the real world as well, but I made new, fictional historic drivers, events, dates, etc. 🛑What is the current season? The current season as of the novel I'm currently working on (shunted) is 2023! 🛑What is Shunted about? Shunted focuses Lance Adams and Alexandre Lareaux, enemies-and-rivals turned teammates. It follows them as they navigate the 2023 season, and even worse for both of them depending on how you look at it, their newfound friendship and possible romance. 🛑Why are there 11 teams? Because more teams + more drivers + more cars on track = more fun. Also, because I wanted 11 teams, and it's my universe.

I'm often imagining what type of Elite Four Kieran was before becoming a Champion. As a Champion, he has various types of Pokémon, but we know that can't be the case with Elite Four (unless you're Green who has various types even in his Gym back in Viridian City but anyway), and I think some of the Pokémon he has + etymology hint something.

Kieran's japanese name, Suguri, comes from ribes also known as currants (his Italian name also sounds similar, Riben). Kieran also means currant, but it also means "dark" in both Irish and Scottish Gaelic.

His ace is Dipplin, which then in The Indigo Disk evolves into Hydrapple, a Grass/Dragon dual type Pokémon. His other Grass-type is Shiftry, who we do not see in The Indigo Disk but we know he still has it, and is a dual type Grass/Dark. Now, while he has only two Grass-type Pokémon (I remembered one more but alright) which may lead to him being a Grass-type Elite Four (he could've been the first canon Grass-type Elite Four!! But there I'm fanboying because I have my own two Grass-type Elite Four in different regions lol), I'm also thinking he might have been a Dark-type Elite Four.

Shiftry is Grass/Dark, but he also has Grimmsnarl that's Dark/Fairy and Incineroar, Fire/Dark. And it's at least three types, so one more than the Grass-types.

My headcanons are exploding and thinking about both Grass and Dark teams,,

(Edit: ALSO OGERPON!! is a Grass-type!!! What if he got jealous because he has a strong bond with Grass-types?? Alright I'm running away now)

Ideas that first popped into my mind when certain OCs came to exist… Neri: it's a show about pirates, there's GOT to be a mermaid Niara: I want a character that uses a devil fruit mmmh what about plants/flowers (strangely enough, none of my pokemon oc's ever cared much about the grass type lol) Azura: I want a cool sword fighting lady Cordelia: I want a hot fierce type of character that looks good in black and that doesn't take anyone's crap Ellaria: came into the picture much later, I only recently decided somewhat on her looks, only things I know for sure is pale green eyes and can sort of see the future. Might never make it into any kind of story but she popped into my mind so here we go. Ginny: falls into the category "looks cute but can probably kill you".

Well. Okay.

Under the cut are a couple Team Fortress 2 OC's and a lot of yapping related to them. Nothing particularly interesting related to the main game and its epic cast, sowwy.

Some less-coherent doodles trying to figure out The guy that I'd imagine as the main- [embarrassed but accepting sigh] Self-insert for the game. This is Oleg! He's an obnoxiously superstitious/religious Russian on the run after taking part in several riots, stealing a bunch of gear from cops, and also The Goat Incident. Weird little man. Or, I guess, not little, he is pretty tall, and very much an adult, even though he has something of a baby face for some weird reason.

The man's mostly just kinda grimacing miserably most of the time - the job of a mercenary pays well, but it's the people he has to work with and fight against that make it rough on him. He's just so tired all the time, and anxious about everything, and just wants his Goddamn paycheck and to stay out of prison. He can still get pretty mean on the battlefield (both in terms of the average Domination line and in terms of how bloodthirsty he can get), but hey, which one of these people isn't.

I like to think he's sort of a complete third piece to the Doctor-Firefighter-Policeman trifecta. All based professions in theory, but the mercs mirroring these professions in practice are first of all insane, and apply their tools in the effectively opposite directions to their job descriptions. I've got more to say about him, but that's for if and when I make a proper reference image of him.

Initially, instead of drawing up a proper Tenth Class[tm], I just made a fourth category. For shits and giggles. You may or may not recognise these faces, and if you did, I'm flattered! ... Although I'm kinda spoiling their actual names in the tags anyway. Oops.

Behold! Servando, the Messenger (Mexican, previously a postman, an easygoing but irritable nerd emoji of a man), Reina The Bouncer (Japanese, previously a bouncer at a bar, a reserved but kind-hearted gentlewoman with definitely no ties to the Japanese mafia), and Aidan the Odd-Job (Irish, previously a handyman, a friendly if a bit gullible gentle giant).

They're all functionally civilians that were way too good at their jobs, and drank just enough lead-poisoned water to be more functional than the average Teufort resident, but still deranged enough to sign up for the Gravel Wars. They all just want to help end this once and for all, because the commotion was making their previously comfy-cozy domestic three-way married life a bit challenging.

She always loved listening to him talk about work, it was obvious he loved what he did.

Finishing dinner, they cleaned up together and when she went to walk to the living room Shinsuke smiled.

“Bedroom.”

Looking at him with a small smile growing Melissa nodded and started up the stairs yelping when she felt the sting of a slap to her ass. Moving quicker she rushed into the room, turning to face him as he closed the door. Stalking towards her like she was prey a dark look in his eyes. Pulling her close to him he kissed her deeply, both letting out soft sighs at finally being able to touch each other again. Melissa gasped as Shinsuke’s mouth traveled down and along her collarbone, his teeth grazing the skin as his fingers moved down her body exploring each curve. He had every inch of her body memorized and had missed being able to feel her under his hands. Slipping his hand in her short he continued kissing along her skin occasionally grazing her clit through her panties.

“I love hearing you.”

He whispered, keeping her legs apart with his knee as he had her pressed against their bedroom wall, listening to her soft moans and begging for him to do something else.

“Please I need you need more please.”

She begged as his free hand wrapped around her neck and he smirked looking at the marks he left along her skin.

There’s also the fact that writing out accents can come across as stereotyping or stigmatizing, especially if you’re doing that for some accents and not others (for instance, an Irish fandom pal was pointing out how in our shared fandom for a U.S. TV show, it’s really telling when predominantly-North-American fanfic writers feel the need to write out one character’s Irish accent, but not another character’s posh English one). If a character has a particular accent in the canon then readers are likely picturing them saying that in that voice anyway, there’s no need to draw attention to it. If they’re from a different background in your fic that you want to highlight, or if like it’s an anime set in Europe/North America/etc. and the Japanese dialogue doesn’t reflect accents that you want to have in your fic, or it’s an OC, then as you said, just point it out in dialogue tags. Like for an example as I put in a recent fic, “she said in a distinct Texas drawl.” Slang can also be a way to indicate particular dialects or backgrounds rather than writing out accents, like using “bless your heart” for a Southern American, or British vs. American terms or regional terms (e.g. “pop” vs. “soda”)

Writing out accents phonetically also impacts readability: I remember with my time in MLP:FiM fandom how people would do this with Applejack’s family’s Southern-US-ish accent and how hard it was sometimes to figure out if “ah” meant the interjection or someone was using it to mean the way this character said “I.” Obviously you’d pick it up with context clues but it still meant an extra read-over of a sentence or two to get there, plus it was just irritating. And everyone who’d seen the show already knew they talked like that.

hiraeth is a silly gal who is basically tijs sibling, constantly there for each other and have a very close bond!! got tijs out of his internalised homophobia era and also taught him to love himself 🙏🙏 she is welsh & japanese (excuse the kanji btw i'm a huge beginner in japanese...), and a lesbian!! her name has no direct translation, but it comes from welsh and means to be a sort of depressed homesick? idk how to put it either,,

anyways i'll post more about them soon but for now take their silly goofy designs, i'm still learning this style and how to get + mix their ethnic features together so i don't have same face syndrome 🙏
