I love libraries.
I'm browsing the WWI shelves (as you do) and notice a very old book about the war. I glance at the first pages that talk about how one day the war will be over and we'll look at this place and not see any signs of the battlefield.
Then it hits me. And I check the publishing date.
This book was printed before the war's end. Not written. Printed. The physical object was created in 1918, while the war in question was raging and the end was as yet uncertain.
Now I'm standing on the other side of the apocalypse, with this physical link to that era in my hands. I'm living proof that the war did end and life did go on and we can all look at the end of the world as a long-ago memory.
Reading old books is cool enough, connecting our minds and hearts through the ideas of people who lived long ago, but there's something extra profound about holding a copy of the book that comes from the time that it was written. It's a physical link between the past and the present connecting me to those long-ago people. A piece of the past come into the future that gives me the chance to almost take the hand of some long-ago reader, to hold something they could have held, connecting not just mentally but physically to their era, a moment of connection across more than a century.
Excuse me while I go weep.
#books#history is awesome#of course i checked it out#i had no real intent to read wwi non-fic but i couldn't just leave my new friend there it'd be lonely#i want to break out in tears every time i look at it#it's so stupid but sometimes something stupid just kicks you straight in the heart and you just gotta deal#it's old front line by john masefield#i know nothing about it except thinking the author's name sounded vaguely familiar#also the interior design is fantastic#these old books know how to use white space and make something super readable#if you must know i was in the wwi section because i was at the history museum the other day#and saw a local author had a book of wwi letters#thought i'd see if the library had it#looked at the selection of non-fic surrounding it and thought of the wwi persuasion#saw many books that could be useful#and thought 'oh no this looks like fun'#it won't go anywhere i know i won't be able to focus long enough to do real research#but darn if it wasn't an appealing little daydream

Loved making this space feel subtly lived in and cozy. Playing on this lot with my own mother/daughter sims has been so cute. Really feels like a family home! And for the lot size, I’m surprised the rooms feel as spacious as they do. Up on the gallery with no mods/cc!

I redid my bathroom decor today. There's more to do but it will take some fiddling.
First, the old theme! This was mermaid/nautical/beach vibes, cause I like the ocean a lot. Kind of an absurd amount really.
But you know what else I like? Plants and witchy stuff and forest times!!!
So here's the new theme so far: "Brendan's plant room," Brendan being an OC who does a lot of gardening, a lot of sewing, and a moderate amount of witching.
#bathroom decor#witchy interior design#This ain't even all my candle jars#The mushroom nightlight and tiny cauldron are my favorite things rn#I am of course also fond of the flickery lantern

Does anyone know any online interior design courses that are legit and good, but last for about a year or less
I've been reading and reading, but the majority are either way too expensive or I'll spend years trying to finish them or a straight up a scam

This revival genuinely seems like the most fun they’ve ever had making content together. It’s so clear that they are actually enjoying having a joint channel again. Regardless if they’re broke or not I’m really happy that they didn’t force themselves to come back earlier but waited until they knew they would be able to really stick with it again and have fun collaborating on a regular basis. (Also they’re so gay now geez)
i’m obsessed with this narrative that they’re broke 😂 but i genuinely think they’re back cos they wanna be and they’ve gone through the healing journeys and the coming out journeys like you said they it’s clear they’re enjoying this! and i think they always did enjoy it but (otherwise i doubt they’d bring it back) obviously the big gay secret was getting too much!
but they’re back now and the can be as unfiltered as they want and it’s a beautiful thing
#as for the broke thing it’s definitely a funny joke but dnp have always lived below their means tbh#like they definitely have a lot of savings and shit (of course you would if you barely left your flat lmfao)#they lived in the first london apartment definitely a lot longer than they needed with how much they were earning#and there’s no way they would be dumb enough to buy (and design interior) for a house if they didn’t think they could afford to live there

Home Interior Design Ideas to Brighten Up Your Space in 2024
As the new year unfolds, so do fresh opportunities to breathe new life into your living spaces. Whether you're looking to revamp your entire home or introduce subtle changes, the interior design trends of 2024 bring a burst of creativity and optimism. In this article, we explore innovative ideas to infuse light, vibrancy, and style into your home.
Biophilic Design:
Embrace the connection between nature and your living space with biophilic design. Incorporate indoor plants, natural materials, and ample natural light to create a refreshing and rejuvenating environment. Biophilic elements not only enhance aesthetics but also contribute to improved well-being.
Jewel Tones and Earthy Hues:
Inject warmth and sophistication into your home with rich jewel tones and earthy hues. Deep blues, emerald greens, and terracotta browns can be incorporated through accent walls, furnishings, and décor items. These colors add depth and a touch of luxury to your interiors.
Sustainable and Recycled Materials:
In 2024, sustainability takes center stage. Opt for furniture and décor crafted from recycled or sustainable materials. Not only does this contribute to a greener environment, but it also introduces unique and eco-friendly elements to your home.
Statement Lighting Fixtures:
Elevate your home's ambiance with statement lighting fixtures. Whether it's a chandelier, pendant lights, or unique floor lamps, bold and artistic lighting choices can become focal points, transforming the mood of a room and adding a touch of glamour.
Multi-Functional Furniture:
With the increasing emphasis on versatile living spaces, multi-functional furniture is a trend to watch. Invest in pieces that serve dual purposes, such as ottomans with hidden storage, sofa beds, or dining tables that can be extended for larger gatherings.
Textured Wallpapers:
Add depth and interest to your walls with textured wallpapers. From subtle textures like linen or grasscloth to more intricate patterns, textured wallpapers bring a tactile quality to your space. Consider using them as accent walls to make a bold statement.
Vintage and Retro Accents:
Give your home a nostalgic touch by incorporating vintage and retro accents. From mid-century modern furniture to retro-inspired accessories, these timeless pieces add character and a sense of history to your interiors.
Tech-Integrated Design:
Incorporate smart home technology seamlessly into your design. From smart lighting systems to automated window treatments, integrating technology enhances convenience and adds a futuristic touch to your living spaces.
Open Shelving in Kitchens:
Open shelving in kitchens continues to be a popular trend in 2024. It not only provides a practical storage solution but also allows you to display decorative items, adding a personalized and airy feel to your kitchen.
Maximalism with a Personal Touch:
Maximalism makes a comeback, but with a personal twist. Instead of overwhelming spaces with excess, curated collections of art, artifacts, and meaningful items create a maximalist aesthetic that reflects your unique personality and interests.

other things that happened in fashion class:
- had to take the class twice bc the teacher who taught it the first time got fired and they didn't think we learned anything w his curriculum
- got consistent marks of 95 which were better than the marks i got in my actual major, even tho my work was subpar, bc the teachers clearly didn't know how to grade properly
- the teachers the second time around all also got fired or left (the fashion course at my uni was just MESSY)
- we didn't have a proper button-hole machine despite the fact that we really really needed one
- and of course the aforementioned fact that half of my class had no idea how to use sewing machines
#my friends who actually majored in that course are so brave for sticking with it bc honestly it was so messy. there's so much more shit#that i just don't remember bc it was second hand info. but it was just so convulted#we also got a new dean like a year into my course and she was very much a fashion girlie (aka actually important in the fashion world)#so she really cared more abt that than any of the other courses but she just managed it so badly lmfao#also worth mentioning is that we had an interior design course that completely isolated themselves from the rest of us#and made really subpar work😭😭like it was not good. it was ugly. the spaces they made were ugly.#sorry to my 2 friends from uni that have to see this feel free to disagree#diary

im playing a lot of house flipper these days when im bored and since i already made a Bad Taste House tm in sims before i figured. well
my fave is the carpeted bathroom, relax with some candles and enjoy the view of your front yard
the carpet is in every room, of course. i heard exposed brick is all the rage so
the living area has a tv corner, a desk with cool gaming chair (tho i forgot to add something to game on ig) and a relaxing fireplace. in case u think its a fire hazard, dont worry, thats why i installed the sink. “think outside of the box” is very much the motto
finally the bedroom is soo comfy and relaxing <3 nice and dark for u to fall asleep in and cute dolls to keep u company <3
#i didnt mean for all of it to be this reddish wood but it just goes best for that style of furniture imho#the only complaints the buyer had was no tv in bedroom and lack of sauna so what can i say interior design is my passion <3#long post#txt#not pictured: cockoo clock in the hallway. all glass doors. and a binary gender bathroom sign of course
