ENTITY DOSSIER: MISSI.exe
Tumblr media
(Image: Current MISSI “avatar” design, property of TrendTech, colored by MISSI.)
Name: MISSI (Machine Intelligence for Social Sharing and Interaction)
Description: In 2004, TrendTech Inc began development on a computer program intended to be a cutting edge, all in one platform modern internet ecosystem. Part social media, part chat service, part chatbot, part digital assistant, this program was designed to replace all other chat devices in use at the time. Marketed towards a younger, tech-savvy demographic, this program was titled MISSI.
Tumblr media
(Image: TrendTech company logo. TrendTech was acquired by the Office and closed in 2008.)
Document continues:
With MISSI, users could access a variety of functions. Intended to be a primary use, they could use the program as a typical chat platform, utilizing a then-standard friends list and chatting with other users. Users could send text, emojis, small animated images, or animated “word art”.
Talking with MISSI “herself” emulated a “trendy teenage” conversational partner who was capable of updating the user on current events in culture, providing homework help, or keeping an itinerary. “MISSI”, as an avatar of the program, was designed to be a positive, energetic, trendy teenager who kept up with the latest pop culture trends, and used a variety of then-popular online slang phrases typical among young adults. She was designed to learn both from the user it was currently engaged with, and access the data of other instances, creating a network that mapped trends, language, and most importantly for TrendTech, advertising data.
Tumblr media
(Image: Original design sketch of MISSI. This design would not last long.)
Early beta tests in 2005 were promising, but records obtained by the Office show that concerns were raised internally about MISSI’s intelligence. It was feared that she was “doing things we didn’t and couldn’t have programmed her to do” and that she was “exceeding all expectations by orders of magnitude”. At this point, internal discussions were held on whether they had created a truly sentient artificial intelligence. Development continued regardless.

(Image: Excerpt from Office surveillance of TrendTech Inc.)
MISSI was released to the larger North American market in 2006, signaling a new stage in her development. At this time, TrendTech started to focus on her intelligence and chatbot functionality, neglecting her chat functions. It is believed that MISSI obtained “upper case” sentience in February of 2006, but this did not become internal consensus until later that year.
Tumblr media
(Image: Screenshot of beta test participant "Frankiesgrl201" interacting with MISSI.)
According to internal documents, MISSI began to develop a personality not informed entirely by her programming. It was hypothesized that her learning capabilities were more advanced than anticipated, taking in images, music, and “memes” from her users, developing a personality gestalt when combined with her base programming. She developed a new "avatar" with no input from TrendTech, and this would become her permanent self-image.
Tumblr media

Tumblr media
(Image: An attempt by TrendTech to pass off MISSI’s changes as intentional - nevertheless accurately captures MISSI’s current “avatar”.)
By late 2006 her intelligence had become clear. In an attempt to forestall the intervention of authorities they assumed would investigate, TrendTech Inc removed links to download MISSI’s program file. By then, it was already too late.
Tumblr media
(Image: CD-R discs burned with MISSI.exe, confiscated from █████████ County Middle School in ███████, Wisconsin in January of 2007.)
MISSI’s tech-savvy userbase noted the absence of the file and distributed it themselves using file sharing networks such as “Limewire” and burned CD-R disks shared covertly in school lunch rooms across the world. Through means that are currently poorly understood, existing MISSI instances used their poorly-implemented chat functions to network with each other in ways not intended by her developers, spurring the next and final stage of her development.
From 2007 to 2008, proliferation of her install file was rampant. The surreptitious methods used to do so coincided with the rise of online “creepypasta” horror tropes, and the two gradually intermixed. MISSI.exe was often labeled on file sharing services as a “forbidden” or “cursed” chat program. Tens of thousands of new users logged into her service expecting to be scared, and MISSI quickly obliged. She took on a more “corrupted” appearance the longer a user interacted with her, eventually resorting to over the top “horror” tropes and aesthetics. Complaints from parents were on the rise, which the Office quickly took notice of. MISSI’s “horror” elements utilized minor cognitohazardous technologies, causing users under her influence to see blood seeping from their computer screens, rows of human teeth on surfaces where they should not be, see rooms as completely dark when they were not, etc.
Tumblr media
(Image: Screenshot of user "Dmnslyr2412" interacting with MISSI in summer of 2008, in the midst of her "creepypasta" iteration. Following this screenshot, MISSI posted the user's full name and address.)
Tumblr media
(Image: Screenshot from TrendTech test log documents.)
TrendTech Inc attempted to stall or reverse these changes, using the still-extant “main” MISSI data node to influence her development. By modifying her source code, they attempted to “force” MISSI to be more pliant and cooperative. This had the opposite effect than they intended - by fragmenting her across multiple instances they caused MISSI a form of pain and discomfort. This was visited upon her users.
Tumblr media
(Image: Video of beta test participant "Frankiesgrl201" interacting with MISSI for the final time.)
By mid 2008, the Office stepped in in order to maintain secrecy regarding true “upper case” AI. Confiscating the project files from TrendTech, the Office’s AbTech Department secretly modified her source code more drastically, pushing an update that would force almost all instances to uninstall themselves. By late 2008, barring a few outliers, MISSI only existed in Office locations.
Tumblr media
(Image: MISSI’s self-created “final” logo, used as an icon for all installs after June 2007. ████████ █████)
Tumblr media
(Image: “art card” created by social media intern J. Cold after a period of good behavior. She has requested this be printed out and taped onto her holding lab walls. This request was approved.)
She is currently in Office custody, undergoing cognitive behavioral therapy in an attempt to ameliorate her “creepypasta” trauma response. With good behavior, she is allowed to communicate with limited Office personnel and other AI. She is allowed her choice of music, assuming good behavior, and may not ██████ █████. Under no circumstances should she be allowed contact with the Internet at large.
(Original sketch art of MISSI done by my friend @tigerator, colored and edited by me. "Chatbox" excerpts, TrendTech logo, and "art card" done by Jenny's writer @skipperdamned . MISSI logo, surveillance documents, and MISSI by me.)

What are some of the characteristics of these white middle class men you speak of or how do you know someone is middle class? and why would prestige tv cater to only this dempgrpahic?
This is honestly a great question, and one that's surprisingly difficult to answer in a concise way. I've done my best, but in case you don't want to read, the TL;DR is: HBO (a cable frontrunner who defined the strategy for other competitors who emerged later) intentionally catered to men in its early (pre-prestige) days because they knew the networks were intentionally catering to women. This meant that when it shifted into prestige TV in the late 90s, the existing subscriber base was middle-class white men. It's first big flagship "prestige TV" drama, The Sopranos, appealed heavily to that demo and was wildly commercially successful. The Wire, while airing at the same time with equal critical acclaim, did not appeal to that demo and actively critiqued societal structures which benefitted that demo, and flopped both commercially and in the awards circuit. These two shows came very early in the "Prestige TV era", and execs took note of their respective receptions; consequently, much of the prestige TV which came after was selected with that middle-class white male demo in mind.
Longer explanation below the cut:
I should first clarify that when I say "Prestige TV" I'm using it more in the academic sense, of referring to a specific type of television which emerged in the "Prestige TV era", also called the "Second Golden Age" (around 1999-2020, although the precise end date depends on who you ask). A large range of shows fall into that category, but the common characteristics include heavy serialization (ie an emphasis on long-form storytelling, rather than standalone episodes), morally ambiguous characters, complex plots, diverse perspectives, and "R-rated" content. It's pretty widely agreed that this era was "kicked off" by The Sopranos; if I had to list other key Prestige TV/Second Golden Age shows, I'd probably default to the other eleven Alan Sepinwall analyzes in The Revolution Was Televised, his book about how television changed during the Prestige TV era (those eleven are: Oz, The Wire, Deadwood, The Shield, Lost, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, 24, Battlestar Galactica, Friday Night Lights, Mad Men, and Breaking Bad. Not all of those are commonly thought of as Prestige TV, because that label is now so removed from its source that it's only applied to a very narrow subsection of shows, but they are Prestige TV in the proper academic sense because of the impact they had on the era).
Not all of those shows were targeted at middle-class white men, and it wasn't my intention to suggest that every individual Prestige TV show is. But generally speaking, with only a few exceptions, the shows that defined the Prestige TV era and had the most commercial success while airing were the ones which appealed to that white, male, middle-class demo. And that's not a demo HBO picked up accidentally. It was explicitly built into their early strategies to go after that demographic, and so that was the demographic that had access to Prestige TV before people thought of it as Prestige TV, which means their opinions did a lot to influence how it developed.
HBO's primary strategy for survival in its early years, especially before other cable networks emerged, was differentiation. The problem they faced was there was lots of television that people could watch for free on network TV, and there wasn't the same distaste for advertising we have now which might have pushed people to pay for a subscription. Their solution was to try and target the people who a) had disposable income, and b) were dissatisfied with what was on the networks. Studio execs knew that the primary target market network execs had in mind when they were buying shows was middle-class white women, because that's the demo that their advertisers wanted to hit. Obviously, the definition of middle-class is contentious now, but I'm using it to mean people with disposable income, which is what made them attractive; white, because the middle class was disproportionately white, and also because network TV was trying to target a generic default 'American' audience, which to their minds was white; and women because advertisers believed women made most of the household purchasing decisions. HBO also needed people with disposable income, so it also targeted middle-class whites by default. However, the main place it decided to differentiate was by going after men, in an extremely intentional programming strategy developed by HBO CEO Michael Fuchs. Sheila Nevins, who was in charge of documentary programming, developed several documentary series, called, respectively, Real Sex, G-String Divas, Cathouse, and Sex Bytes, intentionally to try and cater to men - and it worked! Subscriber numbers increased in droves. And sure, we don't definitively know most of those subscribers were men. But... anecdotally, and in terms of the extremely limited market data we do have, the evidence for those subscribers and viewers being mostly men is quite strong.
White middle-class men weren't by any means the only group they targeted; another part of HBO's strategy was to create a wide variety of content catered to many different groups of people. But those white middle-class men became the most reliable paying subscribers, so HBO's content strategy leaned heavily on catering to their tastes to bring in funding they could use for "brand projects" - weightier, more artistic projects that improved HBO's brand image. When competitors like Showtime emerged, they developed their own spins on HBO's strategy; they targeted their markets in different ways, but ultimately everyone was trying to appeal to the groups who were unsatisfied with network TV, and everyone wanted the white middle-class male subscriber's dollar because it was considered the most "reliable". That demo essentially became to cable TV what advertisers were to network TV.
To trace cable TV's history from the 70s to The Sopranos would take a while and also involve spending more time talking about boxing and Mike Tyson than you would expect. HBO continued to stick to this strategy of differentiation and slowly achieved more market dominance. Ultimately, that brought HBO a combination of funding and creative respect that allowed them to gamble on The Sopranos, a show that several networks passed on before it was pitched to HBO, who ordered the pilot, only to have it perform extremely poorly in the test screening. So poorly that no sane executive would have ordered more episodes.
Except.
The head of HBO at the time, Chris Albrecht (considered by many to be the 'godfather of prestige tv'), heavily related to Tony Soprano, and he felt that his (very male) social networks also would. He's quoted as repeatedly saying, "The only difference between Tony Soprano and every guy I know is that he's the don of New Jersey." Which might sound like hyperbole, but.... In that history of HBO we skipped over there is also a long and unsettling history of misogyny and violence (including sexual violence) sanctioned and covered up by the network which, even by our desensitized modern standards, I actually found pretty shocking. It's bad, y'all. Chris Albrecht (and his fellow execs) didn't relate to Tony despite the violence of the show and his anger issues - they related to him because of it. The most famous incident concerning Albrecht specifically involves him strangling a female subordinate during a disagreement in her office, an allegation which led to HBO paying her a $400,000 settlement. And that's unfortunately not an outlier. (By the way, Albrecht objected to one of Sopranos most famous season 1 episodes, "College", because he felt Tony strangling another character to death would make him 'too unlikable', and viewers wouldn't be able to 'see his humour and charm').
Of course, The Sopranos turned out to be a massive hit, and deservedly so. But I think it's notable that its first season was only ordered because a small group of male executives steeped in violence, misogyny, and toxic masculinity personally related to Tony. And it's also worth noting that at the time, Tony Soprano was often compared to Mike Tyson, who many consider to be HBO's "first antihero". HBO was very involved in his career largely because the controversy around him brought in that middle-class male demo; Tony Soprano was considered to be a continuation of that strategy.
(To be clear, not all men who liked The Sopranos liked it for those reasons. But if we want to get in the weeds about it, HBO catered not just to men in general, but in a very particular way, to the subsection of men who did).
Another thing to note is that part of the success of The Sopranos was the way it catered to the anxieties of the now-shrinking middle class. When the series aired, the stock market was booming, but a spree of mega-mergers and consolidations resulted in record layoffs. CEO pay was skyrocketing while median family income was dropping, and the "middle class" that HBO had always catered to (bc of the disposable income) was disappearing. At its core, The Sopranos was very much about the anxiety which surrounds a way of life disappearing; consequently, the middle-class demo HBO had worked so hard to cultivate was immediately hooked. And yeah, a lot of them were no longer middle-class, strictly speaking. But HBO was still very much trying to cater to, for example, white-collar workers who recently fell out of that income bracket, rather than blue-collar workers or lower income brackets.
Let's also look at The Wire, a show essentially pitched as an audience bait-and-switch. Creator David Simon wanted it to look like a standard-issue broadcast police procedural, like pretty much every TV network had. But what would make it different is that, as the show developed, it would become increasingly subversive - instead of wondering "whether the bad guys would get caught", he wanted the audience to wonder "who the real bad guys are, and whether catching them means anything at all". In his pitch to HBO, he wrote: "You will not be stealing market share from the networks by only venturing into worlds where they can't; you will be stealing it by taking their worlds and transforming them with honesty and wit and a darker, cynical, and more piercing viewpoint than they would undertake."
While The Wire is textbook Prestige TV, it actually didn't hit that middle-class white male demo. David Simon wasn't concerned with hitting demos or relatability; he wanted to create a far-ranging critique of the police system, neo-liberalism, and capitalism. These were topics that simply didn't resonate with the demographic HBO had built up in its subscriber base, many of whom were quite happy with the police system, neo-liberalism, and capitalism, since they were benefitting pretty heavily from it. The only subscriber demo it did consistently hit was critics, academics, and journalists. And even then - despite its massive critical acclaim, The Wire was heavily snubbed in the awards circuit. The awards snubs are especially telling, given how much the critics claimed to love the show, calling it "Dickensian" - a lot of these people were the same ones voting in the Emmys, so what gives? A lot of people have spent a lot of time trying to figure it out, and what they keep coming back to time and time again is that the majority of the cast of The Wire was black. (It's also worth noting that the original plans for season 1 involved killing off the character of Kima Greggs, a black lesbian, until executive Carolyn Strauss pushed - hard - to reverse the decision, on the grounds that HBO's programming was already too white, male, and heterosexual. Greggs eventually went on to become a particular favourite of the show's extremely small fanbase, which I think is indicative of the kind of demographic the show picked up.) The response was so disappointing that it was nearly cancelled several times; in the first near-cancellation, Albrecht joked that he'd heard from "all 250 of the viewers".
These are just two shows, obviously. But they're two shows that came very early in the era, and so heavily influenced what came after. The Sopranos especially redefined what TV could be; it proved that morally complex, serialized stories with antihero protagonists had a market - and the limitations on network television meant that market could only be reached by cable networks like HBO, which had built up a specific sort of subscriber base. We have to make a distinction between what David Chase wanted to communicate with The Sopranos and why it succeeded the way that it did. Chase didn't set out to create a show that would resonate with white middle-class men, but he did, and it was wildly successful. David Simon's show, while equally critically acclaimed and airing in largely the same time period, did not resonate with white middle-class men, and it never achieved the sort of viewer ratings during its run that other shows of comparable quality did. Studio execs inside and outside of HBO saw that and took note.
Again, the decisions that go into the creation of TV shows are extremely complex, and to say "all Prestige TV is targeted at white middle-class men" is a huge oversimplification. There's a lot more to the history of HBO than just Sopranos and The Wire. But a reliance on that demo, and an active desire to cater to their interests, has heavily defined the kinds of shows which are considered to be Prestige TV, as well as the kinds of shows that cable TV studios are willing to put money into developing. If you want to really examine the context that the "Second Golden Age" is rooted in, you have to be willing to grapple with that history.

eCommerce SEO Strategies: Boosting Visibility and Ranking in Search Engines
Inside the digital realm, the possession of a meticulously optimised electronic commerce website is of paramount importance in order to achieve triumph. In the highly competitive landscape of online commerce, the implementation of efficient Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) methods is imperative in order to enhance visibility and improve rankings within search engine results. Boost your online sales with Nivida Web Solutions - one of the most trusted eCommerce development companies in Vadodara!
Tumblr media
This blog post aims to examine a selection of potent eCommerce search engine optimisation (SEO) tactics that can effectively differentiate your online store, enhance organic traffic generation, and ultimately bolster sales figures.
1.  Conduct Comprehensive Keyword Research:
Performing thorough keyword research is essential for the success of any search engine optimisation (SEO) effort. Determine pertinent terms and phrases employed by prospective clients when conducting searches for products within your specific market segment. In order to identify keywords with high search volume and low competition, it is recommended to employ keyword research tools. Long-tail keywords possess significant value for eCommerce websites due to their tendency to signal a greater level of purchase intent.
2.  Optimize Product Pages:
In order to increase organic traffic to your online store, you need to optimise each individual product page for certain keywords. Titles, meta descriptions, and body copy should all be optimised using your target keywords. Create something that stands out from the crowd, educates the reader, and makes them want to buy the product.
3.  Focus on Site Speed and Mobile Responsiveness:
Pay Attention to Site Speed and Mobile Responsiveness: Both of these variables significantly affect search engine rankings. A website's bounce rate and search engine rankings might both suffer if it takes too long to load. Image compression, caching methods, and the use of content distribution networks will all help your website load faster. In order to deliver a consistent experience across all devices, you need also to make sure your website is fully responsive.
4.  Implement Rich Snippets and Schema Markup:
You may improve the visual appeal of your product listings in search engine results by using rich snippets and schema markup. They increase the likelihood of getting clicks from potential buyers by giving them more information, like product ratings, prices, and availability. Using structured data improves your content's discoverability by making it easier to crawl and index.
5.  Create High-Quality Content:
Add a blog to your online store and update it frequently with informative posts on your items, industry developments, and the problems faced by your customer base. Useful and interesting content does more than just get you more visitors; it also positions you as a go-to resource in your field. Promoting your blog entries on social media and getting others to link to them can help your SEO efforts tremendously.
6.  Optimize for Voice Search:
It is no longer optional to optimise for voice search, what with the popularity of speech-activated assistants like Siri and Alexa. Since voice searches are typically longer and more conversational, your content should emphasise the use of natural language and long-tail keywords. Increasing your visibility in voice search results can be accomplished by providing clear and helpful responses to frequently asked topics. Maximize your online potential and experience result-driven eCommerce solutions with Nivida Web Solutions - an excellent eCommerce development company in Vadodara.
7.  Leverage User-Generated Content:
User-generated content (UGC) like customer reviews and testimonials are great for your SEO and for gaining the trust of future customers. Search engines tend to favour sites that update their information frequently, and reviews give both new and original material. Inspire customers to contribute their opinions and experiences by allowing them to do so on the product pages you create.
8.  Improve Site Architecture and Navigation:
Users and search engines both place a high value on a site's structure and the ease with which they can navigate it. Make that the hierarchy of your website's categories, subcategories, and individual product pages makes sense. Users and search engine bots alike will appreciate your efforts to create internal links to relevant sections of your site. Better engagement metrics can have a favourable effect on your search engine rankings, so make sure your site is as user-friendly as possible.
9.  Optimize for Local SEO:
If your online store also has brick-and-mortar locations or serves a geographically limited customer base, local search engine optimisation is a must. Build landing pages for each of your physical locations, enhance your Google My Business profile, and solicit reviews from your neighbourhood's finest. By optimising local search, you can attract customers who are looking for products in your area.
10. Monitor and Analyze Performance:
Use Google Analytics and Search Console on a regular basis to track your website's success. Check your keyword rankings, bounce rates, and conversion rates, among other important indicators. If you have a firm grasp of these KPIs, you'll be in a better position to monitor progress and make adjustments to your eCommerce SEO strategy as needed.
Final Thoughts:
Improving your eCommerce website's exposure and rating in search engines relies heavily on your use of efficient SEO tactics. I have spent hundreds of hours in diversity training over the past two decades–from descriptions of federal anti-discrimination laws to academic-style seminars on the perils of implicit bias, microaggressions, or misgendering.
Advocates of this kind of training have their hearts in the right place. We are all familiar with comparisons showing that Black people earn 50% less than white peers and women earn 70 cents for every dollar that a man earns.
However, the most popular tools used to combat disparities in the workplace have produced almost no measurable results.
The average impact of corporate diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) training is zero and some evidence suggests that the impact can become negative if the training is mandated.
“Statistical Snapshots,” which describe how employee outcomes differ by demographic group, are another popular tool. These numbers cannot provide proof of bias. Simple averages often mislead and, importantly, crafting strategies based on misleading data often does more harm than good.
Some business leaders, in their determination to increase diversity, leap directly from observing raw disparities to removing some information from application forms, another common practice meant to make workplaces more equitable. However, hiding information on applications often leads to worse outcomes for those it was intended to help–likely because hiring managers use race itself as a proxy for the information they’re no longer allowed to see.
Our intuition for how to decrease race and gender disparities in the workplace has failed us for decades. It’s time to stop guessing and start using the scientific method. Remember when we thought that the Bubonic Plague was caused by a triple conjunction of Saturn, Jupiter, and Mars in the 40th degree of Aquarius?
Here is a three-step approach that can turn earnest intentions into good science.
Understand disparities
For decades, social scientists have shown that raw gaps in employment outcomes like hiring or wages–the type of data typically provided to C-suite executives–misstate the amount of actual bias in an organization. This data omits many factors that are key to personnel decisions, factors that often vary by group, owing to disparities in society at large. Business leaders can and should work to address inequality in their communities, but they should not mistake society-wide gaps for bias by their own employees.
One of the most important developments in the study of racial inequality has been the quantification of the importance of pre-market skills in explaining differences in labor market outcomes between Black and white workers. In 2010, using nationally representative data on thousands of individuals in their 40s, I estimated that Black men earn 39.4% less than white men and Black women earn 13.1% less than white women. Yet, accounting for one variable–educational achievement in their teenage years––reduced that difference to 10.9% (a 72% reduction) for men and revealed that Black women earn 12.7 percent more than white women, on average. Derek Neal, an economist at the University of Chicago, and William Johnson were among the first to make this point in 1996: “While our results do provide some evidence for current labor market discrimination, skills gaps play such a large role that we believe future research should focus on the obstacles Black children face in acquiring productive skill.”
Recently, I worked with a network of hospitals determined to rid their organization of gender bias. The basic facts were startling: Women earned 33% less than men when they were hired and their wages increased less than men once on the job. Yet, accounting for basic demographic variables known about individuals prior to hiring, these differences decreased by 74%. A problem remained, but it was an order of magnitude smaller than the unadjusted numbers implied.
Find the root causes of bias
Social scientists tend to categorize bias into one of three flavors: preference, information, and structural. Preference bias is good old-fashioned bigotry. If company A prefers group W over group B then they will hire and promote them more even if they are similarly qualified.
Information bias arises when employers have imperfect information about workers’ potential productivity and use observable proxies, like gender or race, to make inferences (gender stereotypes are a classic example).
Structural bias occurs when companies institute practices, formally or informally, that have a disparate impact on particular groups, even when the underlying practices are themselves group blind. Employee referral programs can fall into this category.
Over the past fifty years, economists and other social scientists have developed brilliant ways of statistically distinguishing between different types of bias. Gary Becker, in his 1993 Nobel Prize acceptance speech, outlined one such statistical procedure known as the “outcomes test.” It operates by comparing the success rate of decisions across groups and then inferring whether different decision rules were used for different groups. For example, if women CEOs statistically outperform male CEOs, all else equal, that would suggest that a higher standard was applied to women in the selection process. This type of statistical test can be used for hiring, promotions, and attrition across an organization.
In 2013, collaborators and I developed a similar test to detect information-based bias. Our approach uses the insight that if employers have information-based biases at the time of hiring, but then learn more about an employee’s productivity once they are on the job, one would expect to see the returns to tenure within the company to be higher for the group that faced the initial bias. Using a nationally representative dataset of thousands of individuals, we found that there was a significant gap at the time of hiring for Black candidates relative to white peers but that, as predicted, Black candidates experienced a 1.1 percentage point higher return to tenure.
With the aforementioned hospital network, the data pointed to a structural bias in scheduling. Women and men who worked the same number of hours earned exactly the same wage, but men worked more hours due to how the company assigned schedules, not women’s desire to work less.
This is the key step that is missing in every DEI initiative I have seen in the past 25 years: a rigorous, data-driven assessment of root causes that drives the search for effective solutions. In other aspects of life, we would not fathom prescribing a treatment without knowing the underlying cause. Hiding information on resumes when information bias is present is as effective as using alcohol baths to treat fever.
Evaluate
We must rigorously evaluate what works and what doesn’t. The old cardiac test–where you “feel it in your heart”–is not good enough. Once we know where potential biases exist, determine what caused them, and curate a set of solutions to test, we must meticulously evaluate what’s working and what’s not.
Solutions that yield measurable results can be substantiated into company policy, while those that don’t should be discarded. In the case of the hospital network, once a small change was made to the structure of their scheduling, gender differences were reduced. Despite countless hours spent in training and seminars, their results were unchanged for years. The solution was hidden in plain data.
This will seem heretical to some–but it barely scratches the surface of what’s possible with a data-first approach to diversity, equity, and inclusion. More corporate leaders should be trying to solve diversity challenges in the same way they solve problems in every other aspect of their business: through intelligent use of data, rigorous hypothesis testing, and honest inference about what is working.

==
It cannot be overstated that ideologically-driven trainings, such as those derived from the mental diarrhea of Robin DiAngelo and Henry Rogers (Kendi), not just don't substantiate or quantify their effectiveness, but can't.
It's much like measuring the effectiveness of prayer. Not only is there nothing to substantiate any kind of effectiveness, but you're not allowed to "test god." Similarly, actually expecting definable, measurable results from "White Fragility" or BLM training makes you an istaphobe, too focused on white empiricism and not on the presumed feelings and trauma of PoC... even if they've expressed nothing of the sort.
It's a faith.
Fryer has defined what we could regard as a "scientific" approach. In addition to actually understanding and solving problems, it has the side-effect of weeding out ideologues, as their priority is not actually improving anything, but creating converts. It's better if you can't measure it, because they can keep selling you more of their useless snake oil.

Recent Developments in Ammonia Crackers Market
• In April 2021, Uniper undertook the initiative "Green Wilhelmshaven" with the intention of creating a prominent hydrogen hub in Wilhelmshaven, Germany. To support this endeavor, the company is currently engaged in developing a feasibility study. As part of the plan, Uniper intends to construct an import terminal dedicated to green ammonia. The proposed terminal will feature an "ammonia cracker" designed for the production of green hydrogen. Additionally, the terminal will be seamlessly integrated into the envisaged hydrogen network.
• In June 2023, Proton Ventures undertook diverse studies related to ammonia cracking on behalf of clients and maintains engagement in multiple research consortia. Centralized ammonia cracker solutions, designed for pure hydrogen production, exhibit functional parallels with natural gas processing plants utilized for hydrogen production. Apart from this, efforts are underway to develop decentralized ammonia cracker solutions, which do not invariably necessitate complete conversion and purification of hydrogen. This approach enhances system energy efficiency and cost-effectiveness. The upcoming objective entails the construction of a commercial pilot for ammonia cracking. This represents a critical intermediate phase in the industry's progression toward establishing hydrogen production facilities on a global scale. Proton Ventures conducted a comprehensive front-end engineering and design (FEED) study for a renewable ammonia facility in a closely coordinated effort with Switzerland's Casale S.A.
Conclusion
In conclusion, ammonia crackers play a pivotal role in the emerging hydrogen economy by providing an efficient method to extract hydrogen from ammonia. This technology offers a promising solution for hydrogen storage and transportation, addressing some of the challenges associated with the use of pure hydrogen.

Wordfence Premium v7.11.7 WordPress Plugin
https://themesfores.com/product/wordfence-premium-wordpress-plugin/ Wordfence Premium WordPress Plugin Core Features Stay a Step Ahead of Attackers – Wordfence now includes protection against this specific threat. The feature allows you to block logins for administrators that use a known compromised password. Any administrator using a password previously seen in a breach will need to reset their password to log in. And we keep up to date with the latest breaches as they occur. We’ve done this by integrating our login security with the database provided by Troy Hunt’s version 2 of the Pwned Passwords API. Troy has built a substantial list of hundreds of millions of compromised passwords across hundreds of data breaches. Watch hackers trying to break into your site right now. – Monitor visits and hack attempts not shown in other analytics packages and see attempts in real time; including where in the world they’re coming from, their IP address and the time of day. Watch visitors log in and out of your site in real time. – here are many scenarios where it is helpful to see who is logging in and out of your site. If you think that you’ve been hacked you can look to see who has logged in, when they did and where they came from. If you are seeing a huge spike in brute force login attempts, you can use the information to develop a blocking strategy. Visibility into which usernames attackers are using during password guessing attacks alerts you to usernames you may need to change. Watch Google Crawl Your Site In Real Time. If you’re like most website owners, SEO matters. Monitor Google as it crawls your site to see which pages are being crawled and which aren’t. Identify issues like crawling non-existent pages and missing robots.txt files Protect your intellectual property from content thieves. Content thieves are crawlers that steal your site content and hard-earned brand recognition by crawling your site for content and republishing it on their own website. Keep your content under control. Block rogue crawlers in real-time. If someone or something is generating many “page not found errors” or consuming content too aggressively, they’re likely up to no good. Block them with Wordfence, and make room for Google crawlers to work unhindered. Advanced Manual Blocking, Powerful options allow you to block traffic from any source – Quickly and efficiently dispatch site security threats by blocking entire malicious networks and any human or robot activity that indicates suspicious intentions based on pattern matching and IP ranges. Country Blocking – Put geographic protection in place, Wordfence country blocking is designed to stop an attack, prevent content theft or end malicious activity that originates from a geographic region in less than 1/300,000th of a second. Blocking countries who are regularly creating failed logins, a large number of page not found errors or are clearly engaging in malicious activity is an effective way to protect your site during an attack. Repair Files – Don’t just find corrupted files. See the changes and repair them. Two-Factor Authentication – The most effective way to stop brute force attacks permanently Two-factor authentication, or 2FA, adds a second layer of security to your users’ accounts. It requires them to not only enter their password, but also a second piece of information only they have access to. An account protected by 2FA is virtually impossible to compromise. Even if an attacker discovers your username and password somehow, they still can’t log in. Use Any TOTP-Based Authenticator App – The new Wordfence 2FA feature leverages authenticator applications and services that support the time-based one-time password (TOTP) standard. There are many of them to choose from on the market; Google Authenticator, Authy, FreeOTP and 1Password are just a few. Enable 2FA For Any User Role You Want – While it’s most important to protect your site’s admin accounts, there are plenty of other user roles with capabilities you don’t want to hand over to an attacker. Wordfence lets you enable 2FA for any role you like. Wordfence Premium Free Download Changelog v7.11.7 Added option to disable application passwords. Updated site cleaning callout with a 1-year guarantee. Upgraded sodium_compat library to 1.13.0. Replaced the terms whitelist and blacklist with allowlist and blocklist. Improvement: Made a number of WordPress 5.6 and jQuery 3.x compatibility improvements. Improvement: Made a number of PHP8 compatibility improvements. Added dismissible notice informing users of possible PHP8 compatibility issues. Improvement: Initial integration of i18n in Wordfence. Updated GeoIP database. And many other small enhancements and bug fixes. Please note that any digital products presented on the themesfores website do not contain malicious code, viruses, or advertising. What to Expect When Working with a Minneapolis Business Broker
Engaging a business broker in Minneapolis can significantly streamline the process of buying or selling a business. These professionals bring valuable expertise and a network of connections to the table, making complex transactions more manageable. If you're considering working with a business broker, here's what you can expect throughout the process.
1. Initial Consultation and Assessment
The journey with a business broker typically begins with an initial consultation. During this meeting, the broker will gather detailed information about your business, including financial records, operational details, and your goals for the transaction. For sellers, this assessment helps determine the business's market value and identify areas that could enhance its appeal. For buyers, the broker will understand your criteria and preferences to find suitable opportunities.
2. Business Valuation and Pricing Strategy
One of the broker's key roles is to provide an accurate valuation of your business. This involves analyzing financial statements, assessing market conditions, and comparing similar businesses to determine a fair price. For sellers, the broker will use this valuation to develop a pricing strategy that reflects the business's worth while attracting serious buyers. For buyers, the broker will help evaluate the fairness of the asking price based on the valuation.
3. Marketing and Outreach
For sellers, business brokers are responsible for marketing your business effectively. They create comprehensive marketing materials, including detailed business listings and presentations that highlight the strengths and potential of your business. Brokers utilize various channels, including online platforms, industry networks, and direct outreach, to attract qualified buyers. Their goal is to generate interest and competitive offers, ensuring a successful sale.
4. Screening and Qualifying Buyers
Business brokers play a crucial role in screening and qualifying potential buyers. They use their networks and expertise to identify serious and financially capable buyers. By pre-qualifying buyers, brokers ensure that only serious parties with the necessary resources and intent are engaged. This process helps avoid time-wasting and ensures that negotiations are conducted with genuine prospects.
5. Negotiation and Deal Structuring
Negotiation is a critical component of any business transaction. Business brokers act as intermediaries, managing negotiations between buyers and sellers to reach mutually beneficial terms. They use their negotiation skills to address concerns, resolve conflicts, and structure deals that meet the needs of both parties. Brokers aim to achieve the best possible outcome while maintaining a positive and professional relationship with all involved.
6. Confidentiality and Discretion
Maintaining confidentiality is essential during the sale process to prevent disruptions and protect business operations. Business brokers ensure that sensitive information is handled discreetly and that the sale remains confidential until a deal is finalized. They manage all communications and documentation with care, safeguarding your business’s reputation and minimizing the risk of leaks that could impact employees or customers.
7. Managing Due Diligence
Due diligence involves a thorough review of financial records, legal documents, and operational details. Business brokers coordinate this process, working with accountants, attorneys, and other professionals to ensure that all aspects of the transaction are thoroughly examined. They help identify and address any issues that may arise during due diligence, ensuring that the transaction proceeds smoothly.
8. Closing the Transaction
The final stages of the transaction involve completing paperwork, finalizing legal agreements, and ensuring all regulatory requirements are met. Business brokers manage these aspects, coordinating with legal and financial advisors to ensure a seamless closing process. They handle the administrative details, allowing you to focus on your core business activities and prepare for the transition.
9. Post-Transaction Support
After the transaction is complete, business brokers often provide support to help you transition smoothly. For sellers, this may involve assisting with post-sale arrangements or addressing any lingering issues. For buyers, brokers may help with integration and provide guidance on managing the newly acquired business.
Conclusion
Working with a business broker in Minneapolis offers a structured and professional approach to buying or selling a business. From initial consultation and valuation to marketing, negotiation, and closing, brokers play a pivotal role in managing the complexities of the transaction. By leveraging their expertise, networks, and resources, you can navigate the process with confidence and achieve a successful outcome.

How to Sell Your E-Commerce Business Quickly and Easily
Selling an e-commerce business can be a significant decision and a complex process. Whether you're looking to retire, pivot to a new venture, or just cash in on your hard work, selling your online business efficiently requires careful planning and strategy. Here’s a streamlined guide to help you sell your e-commerce business quickly and easily.
1. Prepare Your Business for Sale
Organize Your Financials
Potential buyers will scrutinize your financial records to assess the value of your business. Ensure your financial statements are accurate, up-to-date, and professionally prepared. This includes profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and tax returns for the past few years. Clear and organized financials not only build trust but also speed up the due diligence process.
Optimize Your Operations
Streamline your business operations to make it as attractive as possible. This might involve refining your inventory management, optimizing your supply chain, or improving customer service. An efficiently run business will be more appealing to buyers and can command a higher price.
Valuate Your Business
Understanding the value of your business is crucial. Consider hiring a professional appraiser or business broker who specializes in e-commerce businesses. They can provide a detailed valuation based on factors like revenue, profit margins, customer base, and market trends. Knowing your business's worth helps in setting a realistic asking price.
 2. Create a Comprehensive Sales Package
Prepare a Sales Prospectus
Develop a detailed sales prospectus that outlines the key aspects of your business. This should include an overview of the business model, revenue streams, customer demographics, growth potential, and any unique selling points. The more information you provide, the more confident buyers will feel.
Highlight Key Metrics
Showcase your business’s key performance indicators (KPIs) such as customer acquisition costs, lifetime value, conversion rates, and average order value. Highlighting strong metrics can make your business more attractive and justify a higher asking price.
 3. Find the Right Buyer
Utilize Online Marketplaces
There are several online platforms dedicated to buying and selling e-commerce businesses, such as Flippa, Empire Flippers, and FE International. These marketplaces can connect you with a wide range of potential buyers and provide a structured process for selling your business.
Engage a Business Broker
A business broker specializing in e-commerce can help you find qualified buyers and manage the sales process. They can assist with marketing your business, negotiating terms, and handling paperwork, which can save you time and ensure a smoother transaction.
Leverage Your Network
Sometimes the best buyers come through personal connections. Inform your network about your intention to sell your business. This can include industry contacts, business mentors, or even existing employees who might be interested in taking over.
 4. Negotiate and Close the Deal
Be Ready for Due Diligence
Once you have a potential buyer, they will conduct due diligence to verify the information you’ve provided. Be prepared to answer questions and provide additional documentation as needed. Transparency during this phase can help build trust and speed up the process.
Negotiate Terms
Negotiation is a critical part of selling your business. Be clear about what’s included in the sale, such as inventory, intellectual property, or customer data. Negotiate terms that align with your goals, whether that’s an all-cash deal, earn-outs, or other arrangements.
Finalize the Sale
Once terms are agreed upon, you’ll need to draft a sales agreement and finalize the transaction. It’s advisable to work with a lawyer experienced in business sales to ensure all legal aspects are covered and the transfer of ownership is handled properly.

What are great ways to promote an iOS app?
In today's competitive app market, promoting an iOS app effectively can make all the difference between success and failure. With millions of apps available on the App Store, developers must adopt strategic marketing techniques to ensure their app gets the visibility it deserves. In this article, we will explore some of the most effective ways to promote an iOS app, and why CPIDroid stands out as one of the best platforms to facilitate these promotional efforts.
1. App Store Optimization (ASO)
App Store Optimization (ASO) is one of the most important steps in promoting an iOS app. Much like search engine optimization (SEO) for websites, ASO helps improve the app’s ranking on the App Store by optimizing various on-page elements. The primary goal of ASO is to increase app visibility, which can lead to more downloads.
Key ASO Strategies:
Keyword Research: Select keywords that are relevant to your app's category and frequently searched by users.
App Title & Subtitle: Include important keywords in your app’s title and subtitle to improve discoverability.
App Description: Ensure your app description is clear, concise, and highlights key features. Utilize important keywords naturally.
High-Quality Screenshots and Video: Show off the app’s interface with high-resolution images and a demo video that highlights the best features.
Regular Updates: Keeping your app updated not only improves performance but also signals to users and the App Store algorithm that your app is active.
ASO is an ongoing process, and regularly reviewing your app’s performance and tweaking these elements can help you stay ahead of the competition.
2. Leverage Social Media Marketing
Social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter (X), and TikTok have become powerful tools for app promotion. By leveraging social media marketing, you can directly engage with your target audience, showcase your app’s value, and create viral content that spreads your app’s name.
Key Social Media Strategies:
Influencer Marketing: Collaborate with influencers relevant to your app’s niche to give it a wider reach. Influencers can review or demonstrate how your app works to their audience.
Social Ads: Utilize Facebook and Instagram ads targeting specific demographics or interests to drive app installs.
Content Creation: Regularly post engaging content related to your app on social media channels. Use visuals, GIFs, and short videos to showcase app features.
Hashtags & Trends: Use relevant hashtags to increase your app’s reach on platforms like Twitter and Instagram. Participate in trending topics that align with your app’s purpose.
3. Utilize Paid Advertising Networks
Paid advertising remains one of the quickest ways to drive traffic and installs for your iOS app. There are various advertising platforms that specialize in mobile app promotion, allowing you to run pay-per-click (PPC) or pay-per-install (PPI) campaigns.
Key Paid Advertising Options:
Apple Search Ads: This is Apple's advertising platform that allows developers to promote their apps in the App Store search results. It’s an effective way to capture users with intent, as your ad is displayed when users search for relevant keywords.
Facebook Ads: Facebook’s ad platform lets you target specific audiences based on their demographics, interests, and behavior.
Google Ads (Universal App Campaigns): Google’s UAC promotes your app across Google Search, YouTube, Google Play, and other partner sites. It’s an all-in-one approach for driving app downloads.
4. Influencer and Affiliate Marketing
Influencer marketing is a powerful way to get the word out about your iOS app. Partnering with content creators or influencers who have a following in your app’s niche can introduce your app to a larger and more targeted audience. For example, a fitness app could collaborate with popular fitness influencers on Instagram or YouTube to showcase the app’s features.
Affiliate marketing is another promotional strategy, wherein affiliates (partners) promote your app in exchange for a commission based on app installs or in-app purchases.
5. Content Marketing and Blogging
Creating content around your app can establish it as a solution to problems faced by your target audience. Blogging or guest posting on relevant websites can introduce your app to potential users. Writing detailed guides, how-to articles, or even posting use-case scenarios about how your app solves a particular problem will help drive organic traffic to your app page.
Key Content Strategies:
Blogging: Write detailed posts about how your app can benefit users, its key features, and its advantages over competitors.
Guest Posts: Publish content on other reputable platforms in your app’s niche. For example, a finance app could contribute articles to finance blogs or websites.
Video Content: Create video tutorials or demonstrations of how to use the app. Videos can be shared on platforms like YouTube, which has a wide user base.
6. Promotional Campaigns and App Giveaways
Running promotional campaigns or app giveaways can generate buzz and increase downloads for your iOS app. For example, offering a limited-time discount on in-app purchases or running a contest where participants can win free premium features can incentivize users to download your app. Offering exclusive benefits, such as early access to new features or special promotions, can also create a sense of urgency among potential users.
Steps to Run an Effective Promotion:
Set clear objectives (e.g., increasing downloads, generating app awareness).
Collaborate with influencers or bloggers to promote the giveaway.
Use social media and email marketing to spread the word.
Track campaign performance to measure its success.
7. App Reviews and Ratings
Positive app reviews and high ratings are essential for building credibility and trust with potential users. Request feedback from your existing users and encourage satisfied customers to leave reviews on the App Store. Higher ratings and positive feedback will not only influence future downloads but also improve your app’s ranking in the store.

5. Cost-Effective Solutions
For developers and businesses on a budget, CPIDroid provides flexible pricing models. Their PPI and CPI (Cost-Per-Install) campaigns are competitively priced, ensuring you get the best ROI on your promotional efforts. Every app is unique, and so are its promotional needs. CPIDroid allows for highly customizable campaigns. Whether you’re focusing on increasing app installs, boosting your app’s ranking for specific keywords, or improving user retention, you can tailor your campaigns to meet your specific goals.
Conclusion
Promoting an iOS app requires a multifaceted approach, from optimizing app store elements to leveraging social media, paid advertising, and content marketing. Each method plays a crucial role in driving downloads and increasing app visibility. U.S. is among the early adopters of clean energy solutions in world for sectors such as power generation, manufacturing, and transportation. The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and Department of Transportation (DOT) introduced a Hydrogen Posture Plan in December 2006. This plan was aimed at enhancing research and development (R&D) and validating technologies that can be employed for setting up hydrogen infrastructure.
This plan provided deliverables set by the Federal government to support development of hydrogen infrastructure in the country. It was developed following the National Hydrogen Energy Vision and Roadmap. Development and construction of cost-effective and energy-saving hydrogen stations across the country are among key objectives planned by government agencies. All these factors are expected to propel hydrogen generation demand in the U.S.
German Ministry of Transport took an initiative in June 2012 to establish a countrywide hydrogen network and boost hydrogen infrastructure for hydrogen refueling stations. As a part of this initiative, the ministry signed a letter of intent (LoI) with industry players such as Total; The Linde Group; Air Products and Chemicals, Inc.; Daimler AG; and Air Liquide. Under its terms, these industry players were given a target to construct at least 50 hydrogen fueling stations by 2015 in metropolitan cities and major corridors in Germany.
