For a different project I was reading about developments in induction heating technologies and realized I had a small misunderstanding about how induction stoves work.
So, the classic misunderstanding is in why steel works on an induction hob but aluminium doesn't. Most people assume this is because you need a magnetic material in order to induce a current, but if you know your physics you know this isn't true. You can induce a current in any conductor, and indeed inducing currents in aluminium is something that happens in industry all the time.
So then you get to my understanding of why you can't use aluminium and copper, which is that they're too good at conducting electricity. Induction generates a voltage that pushes a current through the material. Aluminium and copper are much better conductors than steel, so the generated potential is lower and the overall current is lower as a result of material interactions with the field, so you don't get nearly as much heat out of induction on aluminium as on steel. This was what I thought. This is also wrong, although it's closer.
The actual answer is one step deeper. Induction hobs have to operate at pretty high frequencies, usually 24-ish kHz, both for audible noise reasons and, crucially, because they rely heavily on the skin effect. Interestingly this makes that first wrong explanation kind of more correct, I'll get to that in a moment.
The skin effect is a thing that happens when you have an alternating current in a bulk material; the AC signal sets up magnetic fields that force current to flow in a thin layer closer to the surface of the solid rather than flowing evenly throughout the material. This increases the effective resistance of the material, since you end up with a reduced effective surface area through which current can flow. The skin effect gets more pronounced at higher frequencies, and it's part of why you'll see bundles of smaller cables used to conduct high power AC: each cable has its own skin that can carry more current than the same quantity of material in one bulk cable.
In the right kinds of steel and iron, 24kHz is enough to generate a current carrying skin only a few tenths of a millimeter thick, which has a high enough resistance to generate the heat needed for cooking. Ferromagnetic materials have very high magnetic permeability, which causes them to experience much stronger skin effects. Copper and aluminium, between their high conductivity and lower magnetic permeability, have much weaker skin effects, their skins at 24kHz are much thicker, and so you just can't kick up enough resistance to the current to generate heat, it just spins around in there getting kind of warm but you'd have a hard time actually cooking with it. Indeed, non-magnetic stainless steel also won't work on induction hobs, because it also has a much thicker skin effect.
So you have the "real answer" being a fun hybrid of the two incorrect explanations.
The main side effects I take away from this are twofold.
1) you can absolutely make an induction hob that will heat copper and aluminum and non-magnetic stainless steels, you just need a high enough frequency to generate a strong enough skin effect to generate heat. Panasonic makes one that uses 60+kHz induction under the brand "Met-all".
2) if you physically constrain the current by having a really thin piece of metal, you can induction heat it anyway. When I read this, I stopped, took out a piece of aluminium foil, and stuck it on my induction cooktop. It almost immediately got incredibly hot and I pulled it away before anything bad happened. Turns out you could definitely melt and maybe even vaporize aluminium this way. So don't do that. Apparently people do this with lightweight titanium cookware too, which would not be able to sustain the necessary currents in a large bulk solid but can if you thin the base of the pan out enough.

How to know if a USB cable is hiding malicious hacker hardware
Are your USB cables sending your data to hackers?
We expect USB-C cables to perform a specific task: transferring either data or files between devices. We give little more thought to the matter, but malicious USB-C cables can do much more than what we expect.
These cables hide malicious hardware that can intercept data, eavesdrop on phone calls and messages, or, in the worst cases, take complete control of your PC or cellphone. The first of these appeared in 2008, but back then they were very rare and expensive — which meant the average user was largely safeguarded.
Since then, their availability has increased 100-fold and now with both specialist spy retailers selling them as “spy cables” as well as unscrupulous sellers passing them off as legitimate products, it’s all too easy to buy one by accident and get hacked. So, how do you know if your USB-C cable is malicious?
Further reading: We tested 43 old USB-C to USB-A cables. 1 was great. 10 were dangerous
Identifying malicious USB-C cables
Identifying malicious USB-C cables is no easy task since they are designed to look just like regular cables. Scanning techniques have been largely thought of as the best way to sort the wheat from the chaff, which is what industrial scanning company, Lumafield of the Lumafield Neptune industrial scanner fame, recently set out to show.
The company employed both 2D and 3D scanning techniques on the O.MG USB-C cable — a well-known hacked cable built for covert field-use and research. It hides an embedded Wi-Fi server and a keylogger in its USB connector. PCWorld Executive Editor Gordon Ung covered it back in 2021, and it sounds scary as hell.
What Lumafield discovered is interesting to say the least. A 2D X-ray image could identify the cable’s antenna and microcontroller, but only the 3D CT scan could reveal another band of wires connected to a die stacked on top of the cable’s microcontroller. You can explore a 3D model of the scan yourself on Lumafield’s website.
It confirms the worst — that you can only unequivocally confirm that a USB-C cable harbors malicious hardware with a 3D CT scanner, which unless you’re a medical radiographer or 3D industrial scientist is going to be impossible for you to do. That being so, here are some tips to avoid and identify suspicious USB-C cables without high-tech gear:
Buy from a reputable seller: If you don’t know and trust the brand, simply don’t buy. Manufacturers like Anker, Apple, Belkin, and Ugreen have rigorous quality-control processes that prevent malicious hardware parts from making it into cables. Of course, the other reason is simply that you’ll get a better product — 3D scans have similarly revealed how less reputable brands can lack normal USB-C componentry, which can result in substandard performance. If you’re in the market for a new cable right now, see our top picks for USB-C cables.
Look for the warning signs: Look for brand names or logos that don’t look right. Strange markings, cords that are inconsistent lengths or widths, and USB-C connectors with heat emanating from them when not plugged in can all be giveaways that a USB-C cable is malicious.
Use the O.MG malicious cable detector: This detector by O.MG claims to detect all malicious USB cables.
Use data blockers: If you’re just charging and not transferring data, a blocker will ensure no data is extracted. Apart from detecting malicious USB-C cables, the O.MG malicious cable detector functions as such a data blocker.
Use a detection service: If you’re dealing with extremely sensitive data for a business or governmental organization, you might want to employ the services of a company like Lumafield to detect malicious cables with 100 percent accuracy. Any such service will come with a fee, but it could be a small price to pay for security and peace of mind.

Spider-man: The Animated Series, 111 (May 20, 1995) - “The Hobgoblin, Part One”
Teleplay by: Larry Brody Story by: John Semper Directed by: Bob Richardson
The Breakdown
Norman Osborn (of Osborn Industries) is sick of living under Wilson Fisk’s heel, so he does what any rational billionaire would do, and hires an assassin. But since this is a Spider-man cartoon, Norman also provides his hitman with a goblin-themed supervillain suit, plus an accompanying array of weaponry, all in keeping with the motif (ie, bombs shaped like pumpkins, a glider loosely fashioned after a bat, and also a laser gun for good measure). Anyways his name is the Hobgoblin and he’s what this episode is all about.
The hit is meant to go down at a public event where Fisk will be doing some legitimate-businessman-things. Fortunately, Peter Parker is also in attendance as a press photographer, allowing him to save Fisk’s life with his spider-reflexes (Pete still doesn’t know he’s the Kingpin) before jumping into action as Spider-man. The web-head’s interference doesn’t go over well with the Goblin, who demands more money to finish the job, but Norman ostensibly refuses out of short-sighted greed. Predictably, that doesn’t also go over very well, so the Hobgoblin decides to get even by stealing/keeping Norman’s goblin-gadgets, and betraying him to…
…THE KINGPIN OF CRIME! So, Hobby heads over to Fisk’s place, and offers to double-cross Norman in exchange for… I can’t remember the specifics. Crime things? *Checks notes* Yeah, Crime things. As his first assignment, Fisk sends Hobgoblin to kidnap Harry, Norman’s Son, [and Peter’s new roommate - more on that below] for ransom; and the price for Harry’s safe return? The Legal rights to ALL of Norman’s inventions, signed over to Wilson Fisk! Looks like the Kingpin has this one in the bag, except for one little hiccup…
For some reason Fisk refuses to pay for Harry’s abduction, and since Hobgoblin is apparently a man with only one tactic, he heads back over to Norman’s place and offers to double-(or is it triple?)-cross Fisk this time around. Naturally, Norman isn’t buying it, but then the Hobgoblin offers two compelling arguments. 1) “Why not?” and, 2) “give me some even more powerful weapons, please”, which is evidently all the convincing Norman needs to justify handing over the keys to an even larger/more powerful glider; Replete with heat-seeking missiles, projectile razor discs (anything to appease the almighty toy sales reps), and even a cutting-edge remote control! (oooOOOoooh)
Meanwhile, our friendly neighbourhood wall crawler has been busy trying to find Harry, and figures he might as well start by warning Norman, but he coincidentally arrives at Oscorp Industries mere seconds after the Goblin has acquired his new glider. Since our hero doesn’t realize his adversary is actually in cahoots with Norman (again), another fight ensues, but this time Spidey is overwhelmed by the new enhanced glider jet, and just as he jumps for cover into an abandoned building, two heat-seeking missiles follow him inside and… BOOOM!
Welp! I guess that’s the end of Spider-man.
To Be Continued…
The Verdict
I have a bit of a soft spot for this episode, because it was also the first one that I ever saw. You see, during the early years of my childhood, I lived in darkness and anguish because cable was too expensive (unlike streaming which has only grown cheaper, more accessible, and increasingly easier to navigate), and thus many Saturday morning cartoons remained painfully outside my grasp. The only ways to see new episodes of my favourite shows, were through the efforts of my very thoughtful Granny (who would tape what she could on video cassette), blockbuster rentals, and occasionally friends. Tragically, Spider-man wasn’t accessible through any of these venues, but I was well aware of the show’s existence thanks to the Toys ‘R Us catalogue, and the weekly TV Guide, both of which kept me up to date on what was hot. And so it would continue to be, until the glorious day when my parents finally did the right thing, and got a cable subscription (there was a promotion). Of course, you’d best believe that I’d done my research about exactly which programming would now be available to me, and Spider-man was one of the top shows on my hit list. On the first Saturday of my “cable-renaissance” I popped on the TV, and was greeted by ‘The Hobgoblin: Part 1.’ It was one of the greatest moments of my life.
Anyways, it’s a pretty dumb episode. Like, the Hobgoblin is extremely reckless, and his motivations are poorly defined. To be fair, his storyline was always messy and anticlimactic, even in the original comics, but that was mainly because the writers kept getting fired before anyone could resolve the story satisfyingly. Even then, the mystery built around character was rife with intrigue in the books, and there was always the sense that Hobgoblin’s story was building to something big.
This show had a real chance to do something a bit more intentional, but the one brief reference to Hobgoblin’s secret identity is almost thrown in as an afterthought. Additionally, he doesn’t really seem to have any master plan other than committing acts of violence and betraying people for… profit, I guess? There’s just not a lot here to draw me in.
Obviously, if you’re a kid this is a rollicking good time with lots of flashy gadgets, and exciting action sequences. So, I guess at the end of the day the episode succeeds at what it set out to accomplish, and that’s fine.
2.5 stars (out of 5)
Parting Thoughts
Thanks to this episode, I was briefly under the assumption that Hobgoblin had always been the OG Spidey-Goblin-Foe in the comics, with Green Goblin being introduced later on. It’s an interesting choice to have Norman start out as the mastermind behind the Goblin before eventually adopting it for himself. Sadly, I don’t think this show ever did a whole lot with HG’s and Norman’s relationship, which seems like another missed opportunity, but I could be forgetting something.
Mark Hamill provides the voice work for Hobgoblin, but he mostly just copy/pastes his Joker voice from ‘Batman: the animated series. It’s serviceable, but I would have preferred something a little more original. But then a gig is a gig, and since he was probably hired FOR that voice, I can’t really blame him for leaning into it.
I find it kind of hilarious how much of a big deal Norman makes over the Goblin-Glider’s remote control. Talk about the height of technology, amiright? Man, Hobgoblin is gonna lose his mind when he finds out about blue-tooth-operated drones, roughly 30 years down-the-line.
I skipped past it in the breakdown, but midway through the episode Aunt May decides to visit Peter at his new place (Norman offers to pay for Harry’s condo if he can find a respectable roommate, and Pete fit the bill) when Hobgoblin interrupts to kidnap Harry with a gas bomb. As a result, May is rendered unconscious for the rest of the episode, and taken to the hospital. The Doctor explains that she’s experiencing an ‘extended form of seizure’, which is notably not how seizures work, meaning May Parker’s diagnosis is either medically significant (warranting further examination), or the result of malpractice. The American health-care system strikes again! But seriously Pete, you need to get a second opinion.

Hi. There are far too many things going on at once. My shitty classmates didn't collaborate with paying the last assignment and had to pay $40k pesos out of my pocket, along with a refill of my medicine that was also a painful $40k pesos. Expressing this in dollars is painful because 100 dollars does not feel close to what the inflation has done to obliterate buying power. Along with this i lost my phone and official dollar went up the double, which will soon reflect on the rest of the prices. Industrial sectors have been halted since a week ago until parallel dollar is established again (gotta love speculation!) and thus i do not have work as they won't sell anything. I was waiting until this monday where supposedly we could restart sells
As the cherry on top, on the weekend a giant storm took over and the province woke up this sunday without power and trees cutting the cables or even breaking their houses
Thankfully we only lost non-essential roofing and nothing else. But power will clearly not be restored until at least a week, between the ongoing rain and the amount of infraestructural damage (these are down my street, rest of the neighborhood has more ripped lightposts). Entire zone is out of wifi and mobile data (am typing this from a gas station while waiting for a spot to charge my phone 🥲)
My biggest concern is the food, as the heat still is precent (today thankfully is colder) and our food will inevitably spoil as our family and friends don't have power either to save something at least. That's a loss that will be very expensive, as if the rest wasn't enough already
If you'd like to help me with a dollar or two, it'd be thoroughly appreciated. If you can't or don't want to, please check up on your argentine friends to see how they are managing. Last month's inflation registered at 12,8%, adding to the 160,9% yearly, and with no doubt the business that won't open this week will have to hike up prices to compensate
Paying pal: @malakartz / Kofi
#Saddest part is that i went to investigate prices to start selling harnesses#And not only are they no longer actualized but with this storm I don't think the people who would commission me#Would buy. But that im so tired i just can't bring to travel again to restart#My neck and back hurt so bad

WIP Wednesday
I was tagged by @violetfairydust and @endwersed like 2 weeks ago, but I had a lot of art due, so my writing wips were the last thing on my mind, lol
This is from a wholesome little unnamed one shot that I've been working on with a meet cute between Single Parent!Stiles and Single Parent!Derek at the park.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
This summer was going to be a rough one, Stiles could tell already.
It was the first week of summer break, and it just so happened to fall on Stiles’ week with his daughter.
Planning for a day at the park as a parent never failed to surprise Stiles in how complicated it was. As a kid, he never would have guessed how much went into it.
Packing everything into his folding wagon, he went through his mental checklist: towel, change of clothes, water bottles, lunch, popsicles, sunscreen, and a folding chair (because he’d long since learned the hard way that most parks simply don’t have enough benches).
“I want to pull the wagon, daddy!” Emma insisted in that adorable little voice of hers.
“I think it might be a little heavy. How about we pull it together?” Stiles suggested.
She happily replied, “Okay, daddy!”
Together, they pulled the wagon across the parking lot and towards the playground.
To beat the heat, Stiles figured he’d bring Emma to the new park that had just been built while he was gone. They had demolished the creepy, abandoned building Beacon Hills claimed as a community center and the rickety playground equipment Stiles used to risk his life playing on when he was a kid. In its place was a large, colorful playground themed around the preserve’s wilderness with the different sized play structures making the playground as a whole look like a fun version of Robinson Crusoe’s campsite, complete with fake logs and tree stumps fashioned into a balancing obstacle course and statues of cute woodland creatures for the kids to climb on. The whole area was on that nice springy rubber base that many kids’ playgrounds seemed to have now.
Right next to it was an open splash pad that allowed kids to run between the two as they wished. It was just large enough to not feel cramped with all of the kids playing, but small enough that Stiles could sit anywhere around it and not feel like he’s a world away from her if she’s on the other side of the splash pad.
Between the two, creating a nice triangle of active play areas, was a large, old tree with a huge, handicapped accessible treehouse with a maze of zig zagging ramps the kids loved to race up and down on. Near the top, was a hammock between several large limbs created from industrial strength cables and ropes.
Today, however, the path they would normally use to get directly to the splash pad was blocked by a brightly colored mobile library.
“Daddy, can we get a book?” Emma asked, letting go of the wagon and running in front of Stiles to excitedly jump up and down while pointing.
“Em, didn’t you just get some books from the library last week?” He said patiently. “Your mom said you even packed them in your bag to bring to my house.”
“Yeah, but it wasn’t this library!” she replied with the most dramatic eye roll. “This is in a bus!”
Looking at the mobile library, Beacon County Library logo printed on its side in a bright blue, Stiles thought back to when he was a kid and how he would have felt about it before giving an answer. Being honest with himself, Stiles acknowledged that this would have been the greatest thing ever when he was little, too.
“Fine,” Stiles conceded with a sigh. “We’ll go after we find a spot for our stuff, but I’m only agreeing to ONE book for you. One!” he reiterated with a finger up to nail his point down.
Emma cheered.
He shook his head and smiled at her before turning to pull the wagon between the playground structures to take the slightly longer way to the splash pad.
Stiles had thought that showing up to the park around ten in the morning was a great idea, and that it wouldn’t be packed, that there wouldn’t be as many people.
He was wrong.
Every single bench in the shade was occupied. There were half a dozen different colored umbrellas lining the edge of the splash pad, and Stiles was hoping to get a seat at one of the benches with a view of the playground and treehouse as well, so he could have a set spot for all of their belongings while Emma played.
Well, at least Stiles was in the habit of bringing his chair as a just in case.
He looked around for a spot of shade he could sneak into. Unfortunately, at this time of day, the treehouse tree did not leave shade on the splash pad side of it. If he set up in its current shady spot, Stiles would only be able to see part of the playground and almost none of the splash pad.
That’s no good.
Maybe Stiles could set up near one of the umbrellas, close enough for his chair and the cooler to be under the shade, but not all up in someone else’s business.
Most of the umbrellas seemed to have a whole group of people’s worth of stuff. Multiple parents huddled under the bench with several bags spread on the ground around them.
Except one.

"Where mesh the cogs of industry, to grind between their ever-turning teeth the flesh and blood and soulstuff of the mortal and the infernal both. Where roars the hungry furnace, its flames hope to devour, its heat to give life from searing crucible unto molten ore and blood-and-bile-a-bubble. Where scratches the quill and clatter the keys, by candle flame and cold-buzzing lumen lit, by desperate hand and mind obsessed, driven, set free by morality discarded. Where sparks the wire. Where writhes the cable. Where blends the flesh and the adamant. Where wakes the engine infernal and where laments the bound and bargained soul. There do you find him. There do you see him, and in the seeing does he know your heart, your mind. Your price. There waits Vashtorr the Arkifane, and damnation is his gift." The Master of the Soul Forges himself! My favourite lore addition to 40k in recent memory. Beautiful model and up until very recently, terrible rules. Had him in the queue a while but found some time to slot him in now that he has some bite to him in-game. VERY much looking forwards to his debut on the table! Of course, had to have a bit of fun with the base, given that he's stolen Caliban entirely. And you couldnt blame me for having a bit of fun with the video, that remix always put me in mind of him.

Chapter 213 Trivia (Part 1)
I guess things were going too well for too long..?
Gen's drawing of Senku here was probably inspired by very early chapter cover images. I don't know why else he'd be holding an exploding container.
We've now got three interpretations of Whyman: the generic one, Luna's, and now Gen's.
I like how Gen's has arms and legs coming out of the skull!
Finally! The Kingdom of Science can watch Dr. Stone together!
As long as someone animates it…
Kenjiro Takayanagi of Shizuoka University is considered one of the main pioneers of television, succeeding in displaying the character イ (i) on his Braun tube display in Dec 1926. Over the next few years, he improved the image allowing more detailed images such as human faces.
By 1939, Japan's first television station began broadcasting from NHK (Japan Broadcasting Corporation). After the war, Takayanagi Sensei's work was used as a foundation for other televisions and related industries around the world.
If everyone thought working on a second cell phone after they'd spent months making one was bad, they're not ready to hear about what they'll need to make for television broadcasts. (Senku also never changes...)
I didn't realize how big their other boat was. I guess things made in the USA really are bigger?
The Perseus not being the biggest ship anymore makes me a little sad :(
SAL 9000 is a reference to HAL 9000, the AI antagonist from Space Odyssey. It stands for "Heuristically programmed ALgorithmic computer", so in this case it might be "Senku programmed" or even "Sai programmed"!
The "NES" (actually the Famicom again, both in the drawing and Sai's comment in the Japanese version) and SAL 9000 don't have the exact same specifications:
SAL 9000 is specialized for math operations and thus has a longer word length (16 bits vs 8) which allows more significant figures in the numbers. They've also got more RAM (SAL has 16 kB while the NES has 2).
The downside is that because they used parametrons, their clock speed (how fast they can do calculations) is slower than if they'd used transistors.
The large amount of ROM they've also got could imply that they have several built-in programs. Xeno's work, perhaps?
CRT screens only reach a maximum diagonal length of around 40 inches (~101 cm), as a larger screen needs a larger tube, and the thickness of the glass increases with size to handle the vacuum without shattering making it very unwieldy with the added weight and thus not worth manufacturing for sale.
Senku's here is obviously much, much bigger. Possibly even world record; the biggest CRT screens made were 61 inches (~152 cm) on the diagonal.
SAL 9000 has both air and water cooling, probably used depending on what's better for individual parts. Normally you only need one or the other.
It'd be good if they could get the carbonated water maker in there and ferment some alcohol faster too using the computer's heat…
SAL 9000 also has 3 phase power like modern power transmission. They're AC power sources, phase shifted by 120° so that at any point in time, their sum is 0. The advantage to this is that you don't need return lines for the current, so you can use half as many cables.
The games shown are inspired by Tetris (featuring Ishigami Village and Roppongi!), Pacman, a combination game of Gyruss and Tempest, then another combination game of Galaga and Asteroids.
The transmission towers can only be headed towards the dam, so we have an approximate direction for where that is! There's a few rivers nearby in modern Tokyo, but over 3,700 years they've probably changed a lot.

Custom mech for my Lancer campaign. Balance feedback appreciated!
LEVIER
STRIKER/ARTILLERY
Like an old-world ship-of-the-line, the Levier is an figurehead of national pride; an large, intimidating mech that's as effective in propaganda shoots as on the battlefield, although it will excel in both. Typically seen wielding large, high-caliber weapons, Leviers are typically deployed in groups of three, five, or seven. These units- or “fleets”, as they are called -work together to fire in “broadsides”- enormous eschatological moments when the arduous loading process is completed, and the world holds still as the Levier takes aim and brings the Cohesive’s metaphorical fist down onto their enemies.
Phys. Description. Replace with art if/when it becomes available
A large, imposing mech. Its face-on profile is boxy, black, industrial, with sheer edges and various decals in a chinese-adjacent (replace when found with actual space language), almost resembling a shipping container.
Side profile reveals an enormous gun that juts through the mech’s torso, resembling a naval cannon. It penetrates through to both front and back. The rear section houses a complicated network of gangways, small ladders, and carbon fibre spools and ropes. Four Power Monkeys clamber about it, carrying enormous shells under their arms. The front of the gun is huge, blackened, like an industrial chimney. Yellow smoke billows from it following a firing. A curved shield protrudes from the base, giving the side profile the impression of the front prow of a ship. The entire mech is covered with shibari-like overhull drydock netting, which power Monkeys use to get around.

Drydock Overshield Hull Netting
The Drydock Overshield Hull Netting is a tightly- wrapped net of four-centimeter-thick cabling that covers the entirety of the Levier. On each intersection is an electromagnetically active node that can snap to another node in a matter of seconds. This allows the net to move dynamically by swapping whether each node is attracting or repelling the others, creating a movement not unlike birds flying in a flock. When active, the net floats about a foot away from any mechs it is protecting, ready to bunch up around an incoming projectile, creating dynamic armour that is strongest everywhere because it only needs to be strong in small bursts, in very specific areas.
(PASSIVE) When yer Crit, minus Grit.
Active (requires 1 Core Power): Cast Drydock Overshield Netting
Any allies in Burst four around you gain Overshield eight. You gain Overshield equal to two times the number of allies that were affected by this effect. You take four energy damage as the sudden voltage flows through your systems.

Trigger: another allied mech of size two or greater would make an attack with an heavy weapon
You may either reload one loading weapon, or grant them +2 accuracy on their attack.
Virulent Phosphorous Charge
Popularised by its legendary use to bring down the Lucky Duck destroyer-cruiser in the battle of Najkta, Virulent Phosphorous is an incredibly volatile and explosive substance produced by an genetically modified strain of bacteria originally native to the backwater world Mudd. Most barrels are not sufficiently strong to so much as direct the blast away from the user, but you never know… maybe you're built different!
Mod, limited two
When you load this weapon, you may choose to expend a charge. If you do, the next shot fired becomes cone 5, stunning all enemies inside the area if they fail an ENGINEERING check and dealing burn 8 instead of the regular damage.. Destroy the weapon on the mount that fired the Flashpowder charge and take 5 heat.
Downtime Propagator
Harnessing the power of the Cohesive's Power Monkey robotic assistants, time spent loading is not wasted! Direct them to manually aim an auxillary weapon, replace and repair damaged systems, or spray coolant and chaff manually from canisters from the comfort of your cockpit. The CWCC reserves the right to remotely revoke access to this product if it detects that it is attached to an Smith-Shimano frame.
4 SP
Whenever you expend a full action to Stablilize, choose one:
Make an attack with an auxillary weapon for half damage on a hit
Repair up to one system, mount, or gain half your maximum HP repaired
Grant yourself and up to two adjacent allies soft cover until the beginning of your next turn.
Divine Fist
Superheavy CQB, loading, knockback 5
Cone 3
4d6 kinetic damage. On hit, targets are knocked prone and suffer from Shredded.
Santiana Gained a Day
8 sp
As long as there are four allies of size two or above adjacent to you who have not taken damage or have not moved involuntarily since their last turn or two other Leviers adjacent to you who have not taken damage or have not moved involuntarily since their last turn, your Drydock Overshield Hull Netting flares out behind you, connecting you to your allies. You gain the following benefits:
You and the others affected by this ability may reload loading weapons as an quick action.
Any damage (excepting heat) dealt to you or any allies affected is spread evenly amongst the group as heat. If the number of damage is uneven, you take the largest portion. This effect takes place after all other damage calculation.
You may fire weapons with Ordnance as though they did not have Ordnance.
You gain immunity to the Shredded condition and +1 armour.
If any mech benefiting from Santiana Gained a Day takes stress damage, instantly end the effect. Take heat 2.

The Ultimate Guide to Cable Trays: Maximizes Efficiency in Business and Home
In UAE, where modern infrastructure and high-tech facilities are the norm, efficient cable management is crucial for both businesses and homes. Whether you're an individual homeowner, a small business owner, or part of a large corporation, managing cables effectively can enhance safety, improve aesthetics, and optimize the performance of your electrical and data systems. This guide focuses on three key components of cable management: cable trunking, PVC trunking, and cable trays.
Understanding Cable Trays
Cable trays are rigid, open structures designed to support and route cables. They come in various types: open trays for maximum ventilation, ladder trays for easy cable access, solid bottom trays for extra protection, and wire mesh trays for flexibility. This variety allows UAE businesses and homeowners to choose trays that best fit their needs, whether it's managing high-density cabling in a Dubai data center, organizing cables in an Abu Dhabi smart home, or protecting wires in a Ras Al Khaimah manufacturing plant.
Materials Used
Cable trays in UAE are made from materials chosen for durability and climate-resistance. Galvanized steel offers strength and corrosion resistance, crucial in humid cities like Dubai. Stainless steel suits high-end applications or corrosive environments. Aluminum trays are lightweight, ideal for easy installation in high-rise buildings. Fiberglass trays resist chemicals, perfect for UAE's growing manufacturing sector. These materials ensure cable trays withstand the UAE's diverse and challenging environments.
Why Cable Trays are Essential in UAE
Climate Considerations : The UAE's climate makes cable trays essential. With temperatures soaring, especially in inland areas like Al Ain, cable trays' open design allows heat to dissipate, preventing cable damage and system failures. In coastal cities like Dubai and Abu Dhabi, high humidity and salt air can corrode infrastructure. Cable trays made of corrosion-resistant materials like galvanized or stainless steel protect cables from these elements. This climate resilience is crucial for businesses relying on uninterrupted data and power, and for homeowners investing in long-lasting smart home systems.
Rapid Technological Growth: The UAE is at the forefront of technological innovation, with initiatives like Dubai Smart City and Abu Dhabi's economic vision 2030. These projects require robust, flexible cable management. Cable trays shine here, easily accommodating the frequent additions and changes in cabling as technologies evolve. In bustling tech hubs like Dubai Internet City or Abu Dhabi's twofour54, businesses frequently upgrade their systems. Cable trays make these transitions smooth, reducing downtime and costs. Their future-proof infrastructure, a critical factor inUAE's fast-paced, tech-driven economy.
Diverse Application Across Sectors : Cable trays' versatility makes them indispensable across UAE's diverse sectors. In data centers supporting Dubai's status as a digital hub, cable trays manage vast networks of data cables. In Jebel Ali's manufacturing plants or Sharjah's industrial areas, they route power cables safely. High-end retailers in Dubai Mall or Abu Dhabi's Galleria use cable trays to create clean, uncluttered spaces that elevate customer experience. Hotels in Jumeirah or Saadiyat Island integrate cable trays for seamless AV and smart room controls. Even in luxury homes, from Palm Jumeirah villas to Reem Island apartments, cable trays organize smart home wiring discreetly.
The Role of PVC Trunking
PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) trunking is a specific type of cable trunking that deserves special mention due to its extensive use in UAE.
Scalability and Flexibility: Cable trays offer unmatched adaptability for UAE businesses. In Dubai Media City's growing SMEs, new workstations are easily accommodated by laying cables in existing trays. Sharjah manufacturers can quickly reconfigure power lines when rearranging machinery. This flexibility is vital in UAE's dynamic market, where businesses must evolve rapidly to stay competitive.
Cost-Effectiveness: In UAE's competitive landscape, cable trays deliver significant savings. Their open design makes installation faster than enclosed conduits like cable trunking, reducing labor costs for startups in Hub71 or DIFC. Maintenance is simpler too; technicians can quickly fix issues without dismantling entire systems, optimizing costs for SMEs and large corporations alike.
Safety and Compliance: Cable trays meet UAE's stringent safety standards. Their open design prevents overheating, a critical risk in UAE's hot climate, in environments like Ducab's plants or Dubai Silicon Oasis data centers. They also ensure clear cable organization, preventing hazards like tripping. This commitment to safety ensures passing inspections and boosts business reputation.
Aesthetic Appeal: In UAE's luxury-focused environment, cable trays offer clean, organized aesthetics. High-end retailers in Dubai Mall and Abu Dhabi's Galleria use them to hide wires, aligning with brand images. In corporate offices like Emirates and Etihad Towers, neatly organized trays reflect professionalism, impressing clients and partners in UAE's image-conscious business world.
Conclusion
In UAE's vibrant, tech-forward environment, cable trays are more than just wire managers; they're enablers of efficiency, safety, and style. From the towering data centres of Dubai to the smart villas of Abu Dhabi, cable trays support the infrastructure that drives the UAE's growth. They withstand the challenges of the climate, adapt to rapid technological changes, and enhance spaces across diverse sectors. By investing in quality cable trays, UAE businesses and homeowners aren't just organising cables; they're future-proofing their spaces, ensuring safety, and maintaining the high standards that define the UAE. In this dynamic nation, cable trays are an unseen yet indispensable foundation of success, playing a key role in comprehensive cable management solutions alongside cable trunking and PVC trunking.
