The pivot from Certain Corners to kashmir and indo-pak from gaza and i/p is frankly hilarious like. It is somehow coming across as extremely racist to graft the same narrative of colonial power/noble savage onto every world conflict over and over again. And its more than a little insulting to the hindu victims of islamic terror, the muslim victims of islamic terror and victims from all backgrounds of state terror, to deny the vast and complex historical and religious contexts of yet another contested region that has been denied the right to this complexity over and over again in its long existence!

Granite statue of the Buddha, seated in the meditation posture (dhyanamudra), from Nagapattinam in present-day Tamil Nadu state, India. The flame-shaped protuberance on the Buddha's head is characteristic of art from Nagapattinam and may signify the attainment of wisdom. On his upturned palm is the wheel of dharma, while thin striations on his shoulder are thought to indicate a robe of diaphanous Indian cotton. On the back of the statue is a now-illegible inscription in Tamil. Artist unknown; 12th century (Chola period). Dimensions: 160 × 120.2 × 56.3 cm (63 × 47.3 × 22.2 in). Now in the Art Institute of Chicago, IL, USA. Photo credit: Art Institute of Chicago.

Friendly reminder that the way in which Indian Status currently functions in Canada was intentionally designed to gradually diminish the number of Indigenous peoples with Status over time. This is because the government saw an opportunity to get rid of Treaty Rights and took it.

Sheridan is a common street name in Chicago, but honestly I've never read much about the guy other than knowing he was in the Civil War. Here's what Abraham Lincoln had to say about him:
