8/7/23.
You might need to consciously give this a longer play than normal. I mean this sounds like minimal synth driven jazz pop. And it is unapologetically this. But it's also quite good.
Satoshi Suzuki's (Japan) music has been described as City Pop. On the OBI strip of a release from the 80s his music was described as "40% Jazz, 30% Soul, 20% Brazil, and 10% Kayokyoku".
But don't be mistaken. This sounds like Japanese pop - the earnest vocals remind me of The Tenniscoats (or even BMX Bandits). And the music has a High Llamas or Ryan Power feel.
The "Distant Travel Companion" compilation is being released by Portland based label Incidental Music.

It’s interesting that composer Lawrence Silver used the themes from
the 10th and 12th Inspectors in addition to the 15th’s theme.

#beetlejuice#lydia deetz#song is ghosting by mother mother#i've been wanting to make a crushingly sad animatic with this song about lydia outgrowing beetlejuice and leaving him behind for years#maybe someday....#also editing this was funny because the original scene has its cartoony little incidental music as usual#and beetlejuice crying WAUUUGHHH in the bg after he leaves#so i had to remove all that LMAO#let's remove the cartoony tone and make it.....depressing!!!#anyway thank you if you read my tags sorry for rambling#beetleposting

For those who are too old (like me) or too young to have listened to *NSYNC back in the day - here’s context for all those “it’s gonna be may” posts
edit: now with correct spelling!
#nsync#it's gonna be may#yes i know nobody is too old for any particular sort of music#but i was busy listening to hipster baby music when this came out#along with my usual prog rock and show tunes playlists#if you want hipster baby music incidentally#i recommend snacktime by bnl and pop fly by justin roberts#no by tmbg is good but it does not make babies go to sleep so I don't like it as much#fascinating creatures by frances england is also lovely but it makes parents go to sleep along with the baby which is not optimal

it's so fascinating to read someone's work when they write like they're writing a film. by which i don't mean that the narrative reads like a script, but that their descriptions and transitions and imagery essentially function as storyboards. you can easily imagine where shots would be divided up, and who/where a camera would cut to at a certain moment. the way the work has its greatest impact is when you translate the words to film atmosphere and action in your head. it's startling how visually/viscerally someone can write when they've settled into that style and i wish i could write like that
#at the present i'm talking about yuyi as i'm now reading the 九龍城寨 novels and action is SO CLEARLY his strong suit#and the way he uses metaphors and starts new paragraphs and adds descriptions really lends itself to that#but another artist i can think of who does this is gerard way#mcr's lyrics also do this although it's helped by the medium of music having a soundscape to tell a story with too#but the songs are grand and sweeping and the lyrics hit you like a brick and the painting through words is just so good#incidentally. 城寨 is prominently known for its manhua adaptation and gerard was a comic book artist#and that just makes the works make sense for them to be turned into visual mediums#anyways. random analysis of the day i don't know#writing#ashton originals

When teto sv was announced a lot of people kept saying genbu was obsolete, which I never thought was very accurate because WHILE I do think his brief sidehustle of vaguely impersonating utauloids (to... debatable results) is a bit funny, outside of like maybe five users that was never his main use-case as a vocal synthesizer. His primary purpose, at least from what I've seen in the greater vocal synth community, always seemed more like it was to be the only mid-deep toned masc Japanese synthv voice with a free version that people can throw in the background vocals of their other covers. His true rival was never teto SV so much as it is the lite bank kiyoteru will most likely release with. That school teacher might shoot him dead. He might kill him. He might kill him.
#asterisn never encroached on his territory because his lite is eng only. plus his very Very rich deep tone#might be a biiiit to distracting as background vocals in the pop music with high fem vocals i usually hear genbu used as bg vocals in#frimomen started coming in a bit since hes got a jpn lite like i see him used as incidental bg vocals a decent amount#but his deeper tone again stands out a bit toooo much in like certain songs. our dear friend benjamin bu has a really good like#medium deep tone like its mostly medium but both he and his vp have like this. depth in their voice#in his vp's case it manifests more as warmth and richness and in all benbus standard glory it manifests as heavyness#but its like sort of like a solid layer of sound that works really wonderfully as bg vocals in some standard vocaloid song cover#kiyoteru will be a similar medium deep tone like medium masc but with a richer depth. he might steal genbus turf#BUT genbu does have that concatenative solidity going for him which might make him win out. they may even work together#together...... as lite jpn masc bg singers.....together .......

"Another Green World" is quite aptly named. I've never wanted to smoke in my life, and this album is making me crave weed.
G-d, Sky Saw must sound SUBLIME when you're fucking high...
Smoke your fill, put on AGW, lay on the floor, and let the world reverberate through you.
#I finally got Eno-pilled#incidentally started with St. Elmo's Fire! that's when I knew I was on the right track :D#posts I would make if I was on tumbler#emo. my beautiful girlfriend. (heheh. Brian Emo)#you like weed and music. Until I can smoke (one million years later)↙️ should you wish to undertake this experiment↙️#please be sure to share your results!!! blease!!!

I like “Enemy” fine but it’s lame as hell they reused it for season two. “Guren no Yumiya” is pretty fucking iconic, they still replaced it with “Jiyū no Tsubasa” and “Shinzō wo Sasageyo”.
#arcane#yeah i said it#say it again if i had to#they used a cover of 'heavy is the crown' as incidental music it would've been acceptable to use that for the op
