This is not only my most anticipated thing of the year, but of NEXT year too, as its only coming out by then. I present to you

Puella Magi Madoka Magica The Movie: Walpurgisnacht Rising

I'm not very into magical girl shows, but this series is the sole exception. Madoka magica in general is extremely well made, both in terms of clever and great writing, but also the art direction and bizarreness added in. Reccomend it to anyone and everyone! (Also, yuri win

Aside from that, something else im extremely ecstatic about in Rainworld's upcoming DLC... that game is my favorite thing of all time so you can imagine i am EXTREMELY godamn hyped!!!!

GOIABA JUICE!!!!!! Its also my favorite drink in general, Brazil's cuisine and drinks are rich and deliciously varied! But aside from the taste, i have many good memories attributed to it.

Tough question... In terms of instruments ive played, i only really had a phase where i was a xylophone player, so by default, that thing wins THAT competition, but in general?

i literally cannot wait until there is actually other life sim games like the sims that are actually publicly available to play!!! like Tiny Life is out now and i do definitely want to play it but... come 2024 we might have Life by You and perhaps Vivaland in our hands... also i am Really Really awaiting Paralives as well i am PRAYING for a release date to be announced. like i will exercise as much patience as i can but tbh ts4 is depriving me (i only have base game + my first pet stuff + desert luxe kit so i dont have 95% of the gameplay i want .) and i would love to just be able to have something else to play too??

I just finished the main game Pokémon Violet story!

The final storyline was so good. I love the interaction between all the rivals; now I see why people really like them as a squad haha. Now unto the post-game stuff (and maybe the DLC that just came out, but I still need to save money for it lmao).

got through all the side quests in Amaranthine and most the way through the Wending Wood! really curious who the Dark Wolf is, though I'm sure he's literally just a side character ... I was curious about his lore regardless.

when I first started Awakening and heard that it's about 20-ish hours of gameplay, I was like 'there's no way'. but I'm at about the halfway point and just at about 9 hours, so that checks out

Spoilers for scarvio dlc

I really enjoyed the second part of the dlc :) not surprisingly kieran is still my fav. I love hydrapple as well so i had to draw it.

Most of these are just little doodles i did over the time i was playing (which wasnt much it took me lke 2 days to do the dlc and then a week plus a few days to get the pokedex done lol). I am probably goinf to still draw pokemon stuff since im on break for the holidays. Also i just know my obsession with rhis gonna is gonna go crazy when rhat epilogue comes out, im looking forward to it, i saw like. Two leaks for it and im just gonna steer clear until its available in game :)

What do you think of the Shadow Generations recent trailers and DLC?

as far as gameplay goes, it looks fun! i always hesitate to give much of an opinion on how a game plays until i can actually get my hands on it, but they keep consistently showing enough new stuff to keep me interested and curious at least. as with all sonic games i doubt the control and gameplay is gonna be phenomenal or anything, but it looks like a good time regardless.

i have some real high expectations for the bosses unfortunately. like if you’re bringing mephiles back i NEED that fight to absolutely slay or else i’m gonna be disappointed. hugely hoping we get infinite here again but i’m trying to keep SOME of my expectations in check

they’re really going hard on the gerald and maria inclusions and it has me intrigued but also worried. i’m conflicted because i’m looking forward to getting a new story that includes them and fleshes out shadow’s relationship with them, but part of me also appreciates some of the ambiguity we have with shadow’s backstory currently - i don’t really want things to be over explained. if they make the hidden palace mural theory canon i think i’ll bite a hole in my controller

overall though i’m excited for it! so much so that i keep forgetting sonic movie 3 is coming out. like all of my sonic excitement is solely directed at this game and dark beginnings. im gonna do a backflip during the mephiles boss battle

Alan Wake 2 Lake House DLC spoilers/review (also spoilers for Control):

Had a lot of fun with this DLC! It’s short (unfortunately expected this), but sweet, although I wish I didn’t watch the trailer for it. It would’ve been amazing experiencing this with no knowledge. As a massive Control fan, I was practically thriving off of all the reading and FBC style. I have some sympathy for fans of Alan Wake who might hate Control, but these games are far more than a crossover by now and moving forward. I can see how this wouldn’t work for people who dislike that.

Personally, Remedy has done well at connecting their stories without it clashing! The AWE dlc for Control was a mixed bag for me, mostly because the story wasn’t really there and the darkness mechanics were bland. This could be because I’m very biased towards Control, but this was a great example of how to merge the settings and traits of both games in an interesting way.

The marital and mad scientist drama was terrible in the best way. I was dying every time one of the Marmonts was “hmmm Wake says we’re going to die horrifically and become monsters, but im personally better than that.”

After all the deserved hate directed at AI and producing content rather than art, it was heartwarming to see promotion for Poe. I don’t know the details, but she’s barely been able to release music over the last 20 years (some songs here and there), so having an entire area dedicated to her with links to a (fingers crossed) site about an upcoming Poe project was lovely. Lots of love put towards artists in this.

Ed being there was and thinking he was in an immersive experience was incredibly funny. I’d have to look it up, but was the manuscript page in his room detailing when he was taken HERE and not him dying to taken? Was this DLC happening during the start of aw2 or right before?

I’m in love with Kiran Estevez. She can be judgmental and tries to maintain a level of calm over the situation, but her disgust, fear, humor all shine through in funny ways. Hope that she, along with at least Saga, get to be in Control 2.

Only found this out after checking Reddit (which imo is too harsh over both Night Springs and this DLC), but apparently the Dylan part is skippable. It was SUCH a highlight of this DLC. The shifting environments, the Not-Oldest House, Dylan in the “panopticon” post-Control, etc. was surreal and captivating. Usually with set ups teasers, I don’t particularly care (e.g. the AWE dlc ending was alright!), but man. The way to get it was perfectly strange. Poor Dylan. Just like Control’s “hidden” ending cutscene, this really seems to put Control 2 in the wider NYC.

Having a “person who’s only seen Boss Baby” moment: thought of tma (the podcast) with the tapes, archives, panopticon, all the weird shit. It didn’t influence this game, but I was getting flashbacks to when I listened to it (stopped caring for it, but the first few seasons were fun in a creepypasta way)

I liked the calendar puzzles. I’m not a huge fan of puzzles in games, but these were easy enough to follow without dragging on. however I did spend five minutes confused just because I got Friday and Saturday mixed up :(

The boss fight was easy in story mode lol

Diana brutally killing the taken Jules was one of the only “gross” moments of Remedy’s games and it was great! It’s not much gore, but I’ll take it.

I accidentally pressed the option to instantly destroy (?) the painting :( So im so sorry to Rudolph and I’ll be replaying this dlc soon to see what the other option is.

For my problems, I was sad that the paint monsters were mainly annoying to run from (also they’re cute). I don’t know if it was an issue on my end or a bug, but even once I went to story mode, I still wasn’t finding healing objects until the last fight. The reason I switched to story was only because my low-ish health kept instant killing me by the Painted 😭 Maybe it’s because I haven’t replayed Alan Wake in a while, but this DLC was wildly difficult. If Remedy didn’t add a whole list of assists, I’d be more frustrated, but thankfully it’s there. The map also would keep question marks and loot up even when I interacted.

I prefer the Night Springs DLC, but this was a great look into Estevez, Control, and what art is. Now, Alan Wake 2 is officially done!

im sure this has been talked about already but after playing through the dlc it struck me that most of the remembrance boss fights are dances, like, its not even subtle in some cases:

divine beast dancing lion has dancing in the name and it dances similar to chinese dragon dancing, could not get more obvious, AND it's programmed to dance along the with the beat of its boss theme which is incredibly cool,

rellana spins a lot and moves very agile, almost feels like ballet in a way,

midra also does a lot of spinning, but a lot more graceful, and even his grab attack just drips in grace and serenity, his dance is a lot slower and more flowy than rellanas, which is kinda in antithesis to the frenzied flame but thats another post for another time,

romina does a bunch of flowy moves, and with her bug body shes doing a lot of twisting which feels like a dance in a way,

putrescent knight's combo attack with its steed feels kind of like a dance in a way, once again, a lot of spins,

and of course, radahn. this man forces you to dance with him because it is impossible to trade with him in most circumstances, you cannot space yourself from him either, he forces you to stay close and dance in time with him, making it kinda a waltz, i guess

mesmer and gaius both fight with the same ferocity and speed as the base game demi-gods, so fighting them doesnt feel like a dance, and neither does the scadutree avatar or metyr, personally anyway

but yeah i really love the repeated theme of dancing in the dlc, its made the boss fights wayyyyy more fun than the base-game ones for me and i genuinely look forward to them in NG+ cycles, its so great!

Maybe one day, I’ll be able to share a fully developed Sim story (though it’s still a long way off, haha) but it’s definitely in the works and I’m chipping away at it in my spare time (besides my normal edits🖌️)

Also unrelated to Kori but what do you mind going more into depth on your thoughts for both Derek and Baxter dlcs? I love discussions around their dlcs I wish people would genuinely talk more about itz going into depth into the themes of the dlcs and how they affect Derek and Baxter as characters, but then again I'm someone who loves analyzing the media they consume so djdkdkjd. General discussions about these things drive me crazy (I think is worth mentioning that I'm autistic so djdkdk)

So fun fact! With how i played the the dlcs over all me and my friend Lo (@/oiulse) would choose which boy to play the dlc and stream it on call, so Lo picked Baxter and i took Derek, it was really funny cause casual constantly played in our heads during the Baxter dlc (bless lo btw for gifting me both dlcs labyu oomf 🫰)

With how i feel with BOTH dlcs

When i played the first moment from dereks dlc my voice started like acting up from how long THAT specific moment was, maybe its just me but the first moment in particular felt really long, I get it though its the first time ur meeting the suarez family and in no way did i NOT enjoy it, but there were indeed moments where im like DAMN ITS STILL NOT OVER cause of how tired my voice was getting LMFAO, all the other moments were rlly fun my favorite one from the dlc was where u hang out with liz on daddy day and there was an option to gift a card to cliff 🥹, his step 4 was also a bunch of fun i loved the family bonding get to do with the suarez brothers (u can just tell that i love family aus) and getting to hang out with derek made me love him more as a chr, HIS STEP 4 VOICE IS STILL A JUMPSCARE TO ME FROM HOW DRASTICALLY DIFFERENT IT IS (no hate to the va btw) STILL VERY FUNNY THOUGH HAHAHA, i made it so that Derek, kori and cove get to be neighbors before the both of them get married so now they hang out LOTS

With THE Baxter FUCKING Alexander Ward

I heard from another friend that the baxter's dlc was gonna be angsty and i was like oh hell fuckin yeah i love angst! AND THERE CERTAINLY WAS ANGST ILL TELL U THAT MUCH, since i was watching lo play through the Baxter dlc i will admit there were a few times where i spaced out cause ANOTHER fun fact, we played the dlcs like really late on my timezone so i was either drawing while Lo was playing or i was in the brink of conking the fuck out, i was able to know what was going on overall i think the ONLY moment i like fully spaced out on was when the mc and baxter were like out drinking or smth and there was this entire thing with the bartender and the singer, that specific scene in particular i was fully focusing on smth else and it wasnt till later that when i played the baxter dlc for myself that i knew what was finally going on, since me and lo have our castaways au to think abt while playing these dlcs we were building aus upon aus of what lo's mc would do when meeting with baxter again after 5 years its fun lo has never been the same since and neither have i, the angst was good soup and i can see why baxter's dlc was more expensive than derek's LMFAO

But ironically enough the dlc that made me cry was DEREKS DLC,,, that moment on the step 4 epilogue with the brothers having a heart to heart is going to be MY ROMAN EMPIRE, I FUCKING LOVE FAMILIES BRO GAUGHHHH

Anyways sorry that was unnecessarily long i could have organized my thoughts more but i dont have the patience for that so i hope u dont mind that all my thoughts and feelings were all over the place hahaha

In conclusion the dlcs was a nice content buffet 👍
