Priyanka Chopra to Star in Action Film, Citadel Along with John Cena and Idris Elba

With the release of her web series Citadel (a spy thriller) on Amazon Prime, Priyanka Chopra will make her OTT debut. But the actor has already signed a new contract with Amazon Studios before the show even airs. She will soon be cast next to John Cena (a wrestler-turned-actor) and actor Idris Elba for an action picture titled Heads of State. The filming of Heads of State is scheduled to start in May, according to a report on Deadline.

Priyanka is preparing for the premiere of her Love Again (a Hollywood film), which stars Celine Dion and Sam Heughan. Priyanka will also be seen in Ending Things, a movie starring Anthony Mackie as well. Then she also has a project - Jee Le Zaraa, a Bollywood film with Farhan Akhtar, an actor-director. As for the script of Heads of State, it was written by Josh Appelbaum and André Nemec. And the story is based on one written by Harrison Query.

The director will be Ilya Naishuller of Nobody fame. The source also suggests that the movie will be similar to Air Force One meets Midnight Run. Before beginning promotions for Citadel, Priyanka was recently spotted at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre's opening in Mumbai. Following the weekend's two-day NMACC inaugural celebration, it was on Tuesday that Priyanka attended the Mumbai premiere of The Citadel.

Richard Madden, who plays her co-star, joined her. On 28 April, the first two episodes will make their international debut on Amazon Prime in 40 different languages. Later, more episodes will be made available. The Citadel storyline is about elite agents Nadia Sinh (Chopra Jonas) and Mason Kane (Madden). Their memories are wiped off while making a narrow escape for their lives after the fall of Citadel, an independent global spy agency.

Mason looks for his former partner Nadia and then both embark on a mission, which is deeply rooted in lies, secrets, and undying but dangerous love. The series will maintain a flagship show status and blend with other local shows that are under production in Italy and India, starring Dhawan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu, and Mathilda De Angelis.

Review : Hardcore Henry (2015)

2015′s Hardcore Henry is truly unlike anything I have ever seen before in a major motion picture.  While far from being the first film to dabble in a first-person perspective, it is by far one of the best executed and most immersive experiences within that particular realm.

The film was the brainchild of Russian director Ilya Naishuller and his team of producers.  After finding viral success with a number of music videos for his band Biting Elbows, all done in the same style, the production crew embarked upon turning Hardcore Henry into a reality.  The majority of the film was accomplished via a Go-Pro and mask rig worn by a series of actors and stuntmen. 

The true achievement of this film is the fact that the extremely immersive mode chosen for its presentation manages to carry itself throughout the entirety of the film without becoming tired or gimmicky.  There is more than enough action and stunt fodder to keep the average to die-hard action film fan satisfied, and the first-person perspective means that tropes such as shakeycam and speed-cutting are left behind.  

While this film is quite violent, I found myself being oddly unaffected by it... perhaps the nearly video-game presentation of the film allowed just enough suspension of disbelief for the violence to not register.   I find that interesting in comparison to a film such as Hobo With A Shotgun, which is equally violent, yet directly affected me much more than Hardcore Henry, which I expected to find quite jarring.  Perhaps that is due in part to the fact that the violence also reaches such fantastic and mind-bending levels that it is not able to be processed in time to have an affect, and is instead registered as something closer to visual stimulation.

I am not sure if I will return to Hardcore Henry at any point in the near future, as the novelty may not last past the initial viewing.  I do, however, highly recommend this film for anyone even remotely interested in the action genre, as nothing currently available is quite like it.
