Amphitrite

Poseidon's wife and Queen of Sea herself! I was feeling like I wasn't going hard enough on Aphrodite's design, so I did skip Ares for now to test the amount of detail I'm comfortable drawing while also achieving the look I want.

Amphitrite is either said to be a Nereid or an Oceanid, so her parents change depending on the origin, but is regardless a nymph. Idk if she's gonna have webbed hands or not, we'll see when I actually commit to drawing them. One of her sacred animals is of the seal, so in reference to spotted seals, I have her spots around her body.

Amphitrite is an amazing dancer, as her beauty and moves are what attracted Poseidon, so I felt inspired by those skirts that start more slim on the thighs to fanning out fabrics. I think it makes it look fun, though idk how dance friendly these dresses are. The midsection of her dress is of like fishnet material but in the shape of scales, as I didn't really want to give her any scales. I will probably remove the little tear-drop clips on her dress because they feel unnecessary. Also making them blue would be weird.

From how I see the majority people draw Poseidon with long, straight hair, I thought it'd be fun to have his wife contrast him with curly, messier hair. A friend told me they probably draw Poseidon this way because of wet hair. For me, I want to be because Amphitrite represents the calmer waters while Poseidon makes the violent waves, and have their hair represent the opposite of that. Also when drawing her hair, I didn't do the finned ears yet, so when I added them in + the crown, I didn't know of she should have bangs or not. Instead I made it this weird braid that's in front and behind her ears. It seems kind of stupid but I like how it looks lol My favorite part is her crown made of crab claws. Usually it's depicted specifically with the thorns on crab claws, but I wanted it to just be straight up crab claws. They're not pointy because she's usually quite gentle, but when angered I wanted the claws to sharpen and show its spikes and open.

And she cries bubbles because I said so, and floating hair that look like wave ripples
