By combining food-bearing trees and shrubs with poultry production, Haslett-Marroquin and his peers are practicing what is known as agroforestry — an ancient practice that intertwines annual and perennial agriculture. Other forms include alley cropping, in which annual crops including grains, legumes, and vegetables grow between rows of food-bearing trees, and silvopasture, which features cattle munching grass between the rows. Agroforestry was largely abandoned in the United States after the nation’s westward expansion in the 19th century. In the 2022 Agricultural Census, just 1.7 percent of U.S. farmers reported integrating trees into crop and livestock operations. But it’s widely practiced across the globe, particularly in Southeast Asia and Central and South America. According to the U.N. Food and Agriculture Organization, 43 percent of all agricultural land globally includes agroforestry features. Bringing trees to the region now known as the Corn Belt, known for its industrial-scale agriculture and largely devoid of perennial crops, might seem like the height of folly. On closer inspection, however, agroforestry systems like Haslett-Marroquin’s might be a crucial strategy for both preserving and revitalizing one of the globe’s most important farming regions. And while the corn-soybean duopoly that holds sway in the U.S. heartland produces mainly feed for livestock and ethanol, agroforestry can deliver a broader variety of nutrient-dense foods, like nuts and fruit, even as it diversifies farmer income away from the volatile global livestock-feed market.

Trees actually have a much longer and more robust history in the Midwestern landscape than do annual crops. Think of the Midwestern countryside before U.S. settlers arrived, and you might picture lush grasses and flowers swaying in the wind. That vision is largely accurate, but it’s incomplete. Amid the tall-grass prairies and wetlands, oak trees once dotted landscapes from the shores of Lake Michigan through swathes of present-day Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, and Missouri, clear down to the Mexican border. These trees didn’t clump together in dense forests with closed canopies but rather in what ecologists call savannas — patches of grassland interspersed with oaks. Within these oak savannas, which were interlaced with prairies, tree crowns covered between 10 percent and 30 percent of the ground. They were essentially a transition between the tight deciduous forests of the East and the fully open grasslands further west. And in the region where Haslett-Marroquin farms — part of the so-called Driftless Area, which was never glaciated — trees proliferated even more intensely. In pre-settlement times, according to a 2014 analysis coauthored by Iowa State University ecologist Lisa Schulte Moore, closed-canopy forests of oaks, sugar maples, and other species covered 15.3 percent of the area, and woodlands (low-density forests) took up another 8.6 percent. Prairies — the ecosystem we readily imagine — composed just 6.9 percent. Oak savannas made up the rest.

A day before a status hearing was set to go before a federal judge for a religious discrimination lawsuit by The Satanic Temple, the attorney representing the infernal religious organization notified the judge that that would no longer be necessary, voluntarily ending the case for good.
Plaintiffs The Satanic Temple and Adam Vavrick and Defendant City of #Chicago, through their respective counsel, hereby stipulate that pursuant to Fed. R. Civ. P. 41 this case should be dismissed without costs or fees to either party. -Stipulation to Dismiss – Document No. 35
The following day, July 24, Judge Joan Lefkow dismissed the cases with prejudice “with each party to bear its own costs and fees.”
The Satanic Temple Inc. and Adam Vavrick, an ordained minister of the Satanic Temple and a leader of TST's Illinois congregation, sought to deliver an invocation before a Chicago City Council meeting. However, they were not invited after, TST claims, more than three years of asking to deliver an invocation and not being given an explanation for why they were not invited.
TST sued the city in federal court on May 3, 2023, alleging violations of the First Amendment’s Establishment Clause.
We wrote about the background of this whole thing in December 2023 and again in May 2024; in the latter, we also made a bit of a prediction there at the very end in reference to the scheduled trial date:
“Given TST’s usual burn-through rate and the ongoing major schism centered on TST Ministry, it will also be interesting to see if ‘Minister of Satan Adam Vavrick’ is even still associated with TST and ordained by the time 2025 rolls around.”
And wouldn’t you know it, a little more than a month after we said that, the plaintiff Vavrick announced he’d left The Satanic Temple Ministry:

Cal Sends 10 To NCAA Final
Bears Post Best NCAA Championships Score In Modern Program History
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The momentum that the California men's gymnastics team built throughout the 2024 season came to a head at just the right time, as it posted its best score at the NCAA Championships in the modern scoring era on Friday. The Golden Bears – faced with an intense environment and raucous crowd at Ohio State's Covelli Center –finished Session I of the NCAA Qualifier with a 407.158, their third best overall on the modern program list and their fourth 400-plus total of the season. Cal finished fourth, placing ahead of Navy (396.290) and Greenville (389.157) but behind Stanford (417.389), Nebraska (413.123) and Illinois (410.461), the latter three of whom qualified for Saturday's team final. Despite not advancing as a team, the Bears will have a heavy contingent at the Final after qualifying 10 men, including all three of their all-arounders, to mark a new program best since 2015. Cal started off the day on pommel horse – their most consistent event of the year – and posted the sixth-highest score in modern program history (66.998), which was keyed by senior Aidan Li, who broke his own program record with a 14.800. It was the second-best score of the session and earned him a berth to Saturday's final. The Bears then moved on to rings, bookending their lineup with qualifying scores from freshman Jaxon Mitchell (13.633) and senior Chris Scales (13.900); the former was a new personal best for the rookie, which helped Cal post its 10th-highest rings score on the modern program list at 67.332.
A monster vault rotation followed for the Blue & Gold, which posted its best score since 2020 with a 71.564 that ranked second on the program list. Sixth-year senior Darren Wong posted a season-high 14.233, followed by a 14.033 by all-arounder Theodor Roald Gadderud and a huge PR of 13.966 from fellow all-arounder Tyler Shimizu. It was sophomore Khalen Currey who earned Cal's top score on the event, sticking a 14.766 that ended the session as the field's top score, qualified him to the final and moved him up to third in modern program history. Junior Jasper Smith-Gordon then rounded out the lineup with a qualifying 14.566. Lastly, Cal's third all-arounder, senior Noah Newfeld, closed out the third rotation with a large PR of his own, a 14.000. Newfeld's momentum carried over onto parallel bars, where he stuck his dismount to cap off a 14.100 routine and top the lineup; Wong, meanwhile, posted a qualifying score of 13.800, helped the Bears to a total score of 68.566, their fourth consecutive program top 10 (No. 5). The team followed his lead with three sticks on high bar, courtesy of Mitchell (12.966), Wong (13.833), and senior Collin Cunane (13.200), the latter two of whom advanced to the final. Cal closed out the meet on floor, led by Curry's qualifying 13.933 and Shimizu's 13.900.

The Great Millennial Migration: States Wealthy Young Professionals Are Leaving and Where They’re Headed Next
In recent years, a significant trend has emerged among affluent millennials: a mass exodus from high-tax states in search of more favorable living conditions. Wealth advisor Clint McCalla’s experience encapsulates this shift. After enjoying life in San Diego, known for its stunning beaches and renowned attractions, McCalla and his family made the difficult decision to relocate to Austin, Texas, in September 2023.
Cost of Living Drives Relocation
For McCalla, the allure of San Diego was overshadowed by its high cost of living. "We loved it there, but the expenses were simply too much to bear," he explained. Renting proved challenging, and the complexities of California's property tax laws only added to their frustration. McCalla remarked on the state’s systemic issues, saying, “You have a system that disproportionately benefits legacy real estate owners and investors at the expense of new buyers.” This challenging environment contributed to their decision to seek a better quality of life elsewhere.
In Austin, the McCallas have found relief. “Almost everything costs less,” McCalla noted, emphasizing the substantial savings in housing costs. Their new home in a great school district has not only provided financial respite but has also fostered a sense of community that they cherish.
The Larger Trend: High-Tax State Brain Drain
McCalla is not alone in this migration. A recent analysis by SmartAsset, utilizing IRS data from 2021 and 2022, highlights a growing trend of wealthy millennials leaving states like California, Illinois, and New York. California, in particular, faced a loss of 3,226 affluent households in 2022, resulting in a significant economic impact due to the loss of high-income tax revenue.
This demographic, primarily those aged 26 to 35 earning over $200,000 annually, contributes heavily to state economies. The average income of households in California’s affluent millennial demographic stands at an impressive $480,776. As these individuals relocate to lower-tax states, such as Texas and Florida, the implications for California’s economy become evident. The Wall Street Journal notes that this exodus could lead to higher taxes for those remaining, especially the middle class.
Where Are They Going?
Texas and Florida have emerged as popular destinations. In 2022, Texas welcomed 1,660 new millennial households with an average income of $405,215, while Florida gained 1,786 households, averaging $526,273 in income. This influx not only boosts local economies but also positions these states as attractive hubs for young professionals seeking both financial stability and lifestyle advantages.
Shifting Trends on the Horizon
Interestingly, early 2024 data suggests a potential reversal in this migration pattern. Some millennials who previously moved to Texas and Florida are now returning to their home states, including California and New York. While it’s too soon to determine the permanence of this trend, cities like Austin and Miami are experiencing a slight decline in their wealthy young resident populations.

The Founding of Outlaw Nation
In the year, 2016, the President of the 1%er organization, the Outlaw Motorcycle Club, Joe Buchanan, wagered control of his organization against the submission of myself. The contest was to split a handle of Jack Daniels Honey, shot for shot. Loser passes out first. The venue was Hill’s Tap, located in Genoa, DeKalb, Illinois, United States of America.
I refused to submit to a man less than me, and matched him shot for shot until the final pour where I took his shot, then mine, successfully out drinking him, and seizing control of his organization.
I lit the spark of rebellion in the United States of America. I declared war on pedophilia. I named the tyrants masquerading as civil servants, enemy.
I decided to lead free people, in pursuit of that lofty ideal, freedom. I warned my people that freedom is never free. I declared myself prepared to pay that price in blood, a willing sacrifice, and asked who among them would pay in full beside me.

What is Freedom?
Freedom, as defined by Merriam Webster Dictionary (2024): (noun) the state of being free from the control or power of another.
I believe freedom to be power held by the individual, in which the individual has control over decisions which compound over the course of the individual’s life, resulting in a life lived on one’s own terms.
I believe freedom is the acceptance of the sum of one’s actions, as derived from the choices one makes.

Why Freedom?
It is my opinion that man, without freedom, is little more than a drone. When man is lacking in free will he does naught but obey. Gone is the creative. Gone is the innovative. Gone is the leader who hides among us. What is left to fill the void? When free thinkers are persecuted; when creativity is stifled; when all that is left is tyranny; a tipping point is reached, for man can not be all that he is without freedom.
The Declaration of Independence of the United States of America began the first American revolution in 1776. The tyranny of the Calvinist court of England had become too much to bear.

The Founding Fathers of the United States of America succeeded in gaining their independence from the monarchy of England; the Calvinist organization was willing to cede control and immigrated west, lobbying to establish themselves as political leaders in the new born nation.
As a result, Outlaw Nation wages the same war in which our forefathers began, in dimly lit taverns, on busy street corners, and in the comfort of our own homes.
Freedom is the lullaby our children hear as they go to sleep.

And inherit we did.
It took 9% of the population of the United States of America to win the first American revolution. Echos of our Founding Fathers exist in the bloodlines of Outlaw Nation; raised on stories of a better time, in a place that we once knew; battle hardened before we knew what it meant. When innocence is stolen, when childhood is sexualized, when healthy growth is pruned, when we were faced with the choice to submit or stand our ground; we choose to fight.

We are the generation which, against all odds, survived. We recall well the Valkyrie who raised us, the Ol’Men who saved us, and those Midnight Hands who sacrificed themselves to guard us. Yet, as the curtain rises, a better vantage point we take. There is beauty in the breakdown, such that, we are born anew, into the fray, come what may, united we stand, as we forge our way to the promised land.

Once the wildfires of revolution have been set, even final death will not quench them. Without fail, the next generation will pick up the Torches and lead the way down the unforgotten trail. An idea is the most powerful force in existence. An idea may outlive those who discovered it, those who articulated it, those who acted upon it. An idea may lay dormant for centuries until the time is ripe for it to be called from the recesses of memory. Yet, an idea endures. An idea may endure famine, the ravages of war, the desolation of solitude; and yet, refuse to fade, so long as one Secret Keeper feeds the flame.
So it has come to this. May our secrets keep safe until the day has come, to once more, ride into battle.
Freedom is not a young idea, even while it is the young who are most susceptible to it. My idea of freedom is such that individuals have the options to behave in the way in which they choose, with the full accountability of their actions, both positive and negative. That free people have the ability to change, to improve, to grow. That those who wish to subjugate are the very individuals who do not deserve the honor of leadership.
I know my generation has never been free. I was young the first time I met a Calvinist. I had been scouted, for my unique bloodline, by those who, through the chains of treasonous tyranny, control the world, like puppet masters only just off stage.

The crown mounding was elegantly carved marble; the ceilings elaborately hand painted; rich Turkish rugs lined the hardwood floors; a handsome feast, freshly poisoned, ladened the long center table; naked children, aged three, clad in only marble dust posed as cherubs atop painted wood pedestals; a small table in the corner with three punch bowls of fresh human blood and elegant faceted wine glasses to be filled with gold ladles. Old, fat, inbred, white men in loosely tailored, expensive suits, mingled separately from their classically dressed, spandex fitted, clearly aging wives.
All this was laid out, monthly, paid for by funds embezzled from the United States of America’s education, human services, transportation, and defense budgets.
Tyranny is when a population is subjugated by a governing body who takes resources out of the closed system, that is the government, and uses it frivolously.
This war, this 1,001st Great War, between tyranny and freedom has echoed through the eons. Our very generation was bred for, through a centuries old eugenics program.
We are the generation this world has waited for, hoped for.
For so long as one has hope; someday will come.

Someday there will be freedom.
Someday there will be opportunity.
But that day will never come, should we choose to remain idle and afraid. Radical change calls for, nay, demands radical action. To do what has never been done, one must do what has never been done.
History shows many localized revolutions, throughout the ages, yet, never before has a revolution existed on this scale. Never before has the world been this close to uniting under one banner, in order to throw off the bounds of oppression, to melt the chains of tyranny, to forge a new destiny.
A destiny free of corruption, riddled with opportunity, and rich in bounty. A greater future where individuals are judged on the content of their character, the merit of their work, and their effort to overcome the struggles all men face.
I tell myself that someday will come; that free people will be free. I know that I am not the only one willing to sacrifice everything that I am for a better tomorrow. I know that the decisions I make ripple to distant shores; that my cry from the bottom of my heart, for freedom, long overdue, echos across foreign lands, and has taken root in the hearts of men from sea to shining sea. I know that, someday, we will see this through; for we hold an idea which resonates in our spirits, and the wisdom that not all is for naught.
For what choice have we, when the prevailing winds of change have been long stagnant?
For what choice have we, when the tides of opportunity run still?
For what choice have we, when the rivers of life run dry?
The option to do nothing results in the status quo remaining unchanged. Should we choose to stand idly by, the tyrants masquerading as public servants will continue to embezzle from public taxes, lining their pockets, and writing loopholes into law in order to prevent justice from being served.
The budgets for social benefit programs, such as: healthcare reform, education reform, supplemental nutritional assistance, pensions, infrastructure, and emergency response to catastrophic natural disasters, have suffered greatly.
When pedophiles preach propaganda in schools, we lose our children.
When drug addicts roam the woods, we lose our wilds.
When doctors treat patients as customers, we lose our minds.
When public officials treat citizens as slaves, we lose our voice.
What else do we have to lose? Who among us will rise in revolution? If not us, then who? If not now, then when?
If nothing is to be done, then nothing is to change. I, for one, am no longer content to sit idly by while the world stops turning.

The infiltration starts slowly at the bottom levels of the dominance hierarchy; then, the higher levels are infiltrated. Over time, the positions with the most control of financing and records are filled by Calvinist lackeys. This continues until the figurehead is surrounded by Calvinists, alone, without loyalty or support from within their organization.

BERKELEY – Katja Wiersholm clinched a California women's tennis victory for the second straight match, as the 11th-ranked Golden Bears defeated No. 17 UCLA, 4-3, on Saturday at the Hellman Tennis Complex. The 53rd-ranked Cal junior bested 72nd-ranked Bianca Fernandez, 6-4, 5-7, 6-3, to end the match and keep the Bears unbeaten in the Pac-12 Conference at 5-0 (12-3 overall). UCLA now has a 10-4 record (4-1 Pac-12). Wiersholm clinched Cal's 6-1 win over No. 45 Utah last Saturday in Berkeley, and she also clinched the season-opening, 4-0 win over Illinois. "It's important in these moments to convince yourself that you want it to come down to you, that you want to be the one to put that number four up on the board," Wiersholm said Saturday. "I kept reminding myself of that today, and it really helped push me through." The Bears took a 1-0 lead when the 23rd-ranked pair of Mao Mushika and Hannah Viller Moeller beat Elise Wagle and Tian Fangran, 6-4, on court one to clinch the doubles point. Earlier, Cal's Jessica Alsola and Valentina Ivanov won 6-4 over the Bruins' 80th-ranked Kimmi Hance and Anne Christine Lutkemeyer on court two. "We did a really good job in doubles, and we didn't even get to hit a ball yesterday because it was wet," Cal head coach Amanda Augustus said. "I wanted to see us come out aggressive and quick, and I really thought we did. That was important. UCLA is a very good team. We know if we can get that doubles point, it helps a lot, because it's hard to win four singles matches against a good team like that. They always battle hard." In singles, Alsola, ranked 54th, gave Cal a 2-0 lead when she topped Lutkemeyer, 6-4, 6-4, on court four. But losses on court two and court one left the match tied, 2-2. Mushika, a freshman, beat Wagle on court five, 6-4, 7-6(7), to momentarily give the Bears a 3-2 lead. But UCLA knotted the match at 3-3 when Ahmani Guichard defeated Cal's Lan Mi in three sets, 7-6(7), 3-6, 6-1, on court six, in what was just Mi's third singles loss of 2024. The junior leads the Bears with a 32-5 record. That left court three to decide the match. Wiersholm had the chance to end it when leading 5-4 in the second set, though Fernandez rallied to take the set. Given another chance in the third, Wiersholm slammed the door shut on the Bruins. Like Mi, Wiersholm has lost just three times in singles in 2024, after losing just once in the fall. The junior has compiled a 21-4 record through Saturday. "At the end of the day it is about the results, it is about the winning," Wiersholm said, "and every day I just keep telling myself to try and get better each day so that when it comes down to it, I can be that one percent better than the girl on the other side of the net. That's what I've been working towards, and I feel like it's been getting better and better each match and each month. The season's going by quick, though, and that's what makes it challenging sometimes." Added Augustus, "I'm just proud of us finishing that match out, and I'm looking forward to another tough battle tomorrow."
