alright! just in case, quick housekeeping: this blog is vehemently queer, including pro-trans/ace/aro/neos/queer/fags/etc, pro-choice, sex-positive, black lives matter, anti-racist (which is systemic and connected to everything), anti-capitalist, free palestine, police should be defunded and the money reallocated to public resources, the land should be returned to the Indigenous Peoples it was stolen from, legal doesn't equal right, don't trust anyone telling you voting does nothing, everyone has something to unlearn, sex workers are valued and should be protected/respected, pleasure and kink are value neutral, media censorship is bad and cannot be reliably moderated ever, "fucked up" media should be allowed to exist, AI "art" is theft and so is the writing, drug use and addiction is value neutral and addicts should be supported, certain diagnosis/disorders aren't inherently evil or abusive, all mental health struggles deserve support/accommodations, food/water/housing is a basic human right, healthcare should be universally free, education including higher should be universally free, disabled people are invaluable to society, fatness is value neutral, car-centric city planning sucks, children are people, golf-courses suck, etc.

Today, though, I can't say that's the case - the past few days in San Francisco have been unusually warm, and today's been the worst yet: 84 degrees outside (15-20 degrees hotter than usual), and in our non-air conditioned top-floor apartment it's closer to 90. (I know this sounds like amateur night, but keep in mind that the San Francisco climate is temperate and typically cold AF in the summer due to the "marine layer" - fog, that is - rolling in each afternoon from the Pacific Ocean, but climate change has touched us even here.)

I have been reduced to a moist, mildewy, miserable melted mound of mutt meat, merely a pile of fur and random muscle and bone, howling pitifully and piteously to the skies, a helpless sled dog somehow mistakenly homed in the Equatorial jungles of the deepest Sahara, cooking and boiling faster than a Korean stray in a miou-miou stew pot in a Seoul-less kimchi joint, o how could this ever have happened, a helpless hopeless creature abandoned and left to suffer and die like a Malamute on the Amundsen sledge after the South Pole expedition, forlorn and forgotten, o woe is meeeeeee, owoo o o awoooooo....

So apparently Checo was .7 slower per lap than Max in the race today...but is that even Checo struggling or just Max continually improving? If it's the latter that must be extra rough as a second driver b/c your best isn't good enough anymore but not because you got worse, just your teammate is a genius. It makes me think of that clip of Charles looking at Max's onboards and being like ?? I can't do what he's doing how is he doing that from Qualifying yesterday (and I'm not saying Charles couldn't in the RB just that how surreal that must be to be Max's teammate when he keeps finding more time in the car every week out of seemingly thin air).

well and i think that's what's so hard to say really!! and even more so as we get into the parts of the season that checo's historically struggled with anyways. max is up at the front doing fucking side quests and probably learning every possible function of the car in order to extract even the tiniest bit more out of it, simply because he's fucking bored and has nothing else to do!! meanwhile everyone else on the grid is a little too preoccupied fighting for their fucking lives to be doing the same thing. how are you supposed to compete with that!!

I am this 🤏 close to giving up medicine and my dream to practice neurology, just so I can go into IT, get a remote job and move somewhere in the mountains where a 4 bedroom house with a big ass yard costs just about as much as a one bedroom apartment in the city I currently live in.
