"all the negativity is killing the vibe"
"just be grateful for what you got!" "was it perfect? no! but we got some good stuff!" "people are just being so down about season 3"
There is a reason people are displeased.
We are consumers of this media. We PAID for this media. With time, with money, with subscriptions. We bought the merch, we watched the promos, we paid in attention, we paid financially, we paid literally and metaphorically.
And they did not deliver.
So, yes, we have a right to complain because objectively speaking, it was a bad ending. It just was! It was poorly written and poorly edited, it did not leave viewers happy, and there is a REASON the engagement of part 2 is much lower than part 1. Polin is not the problem, sidelining Polin is the problem. Writing Polin poorly is the problem. Shoving Colin to the side (half of the pairing) is the problem. Inconsistent characterization is the problem.
the fact that we came in with high expectations and they were let down for us? makes it a bad ending. makes it bad writing. the fact that we waited 2 years for it and then another month in between and did not walk away feeling as though that time was worthwhile? makes it a bad ending.
the writing was disjointed, characters were underutilized, Colin was pushed aside in his OWN SEASON, they tried to do a #girlbossfeminism narrative and then threw Cressida to the wolves because she did a few things that hurt the main heroine's feelings, even after showing us as viewers we should (and do) empathize with her. I mean, for fuck's sake, there was literally a big speech and everyone clapped moment. stakes were defanged, there were threesome scenes that cut any and all tension building between Polin, Eloise's character was written inconsistently for the sake of swift forgiveness, they threw Babies ever After at us, momifying the one character who was said to be plus size representation at NINETEEN, there were more sex scenes for Benedict than there were for the main couple Polin. Lady Whistledown was a black hole for good quality because instead of writing a narrative that suited the couple's ending, they wrote a narrative to keep her as a plot device by any means possible. This season was a roller coaster that went up up up and then stagnated.
there are legitimate criticisms to be had about this season. as if we don't have a right to demand good quality from something we paid for.
and the worst part of it is that they set it up SO. WELL.
I ended Part 1 pacing my apartment, giddy and kicking my feet and rewatching the ending over and over. Part 2? None of that. And the reason people have been so negative about it is that IT SHOWS.
Yes, in part, some negativity is homophobia for Michaela, who I honest to god adore and am so happy to see on screen. Yes, in part, some negativity is for Polin from haters, a couple I love with all my heart.
But most of the negativity comes down to poor writing. Inconsistency. A lack of bravery for dropping a plot device (Lady Whistledown) that the show has held onto not for Penelope or for Polin, but for Bridgerton's story moving forward that writers do not feel confident portraying without a narrator so it might crutch them.
Stop licking a plate of crumbs and claiming it a meal. They had 2 years to deliver a fantastic season. They didn't do so. That is not at all on the actors, because they are FANTASTIC, it is on the writers, and on the production. Was it beautiful? Sure. Was it well acted? Absolutely. Was it good? Well edited? Well written? Meaningful? Fun?
No.
There are parts of it that are, but when you fumble an ending, it sours the entire experience. The reason people loved Part 1 so much was because of the ending of Episode 4, which was done beautifully. It felt satisfying. And then Part 2 felt like an entirely different beast. If you settle for mediocrity, that is all you will get. So yes, I demand better of this season. I demand that we get more than just one thirty second scene of Pen and Colin being intimate after their marriage. I demand more characterization and time devoted to the main couple instead of useless side plots. I demand better writing. I demand better EDITING. Cressida was done dirty, Colin was done dirty, Eloise was done dirty, Penelope was done dirty. And at the end of it, VIEWERS were done dirty.
There's a reason Part 1 had such glowing positivity and then Part 2 is garnering horribly mixed reactions. It's because one is better than the other. And if this show is CAPABLE of delivering content like Part 1, then yes, I will absolutely demand it of part 2. One day, Bridgerton will learn how to write a proper final episode, a proper closing to an arc.
That day was not in Season 3.

Seeing Twitter users recommending the People Make Games documentary as a good way to get insight on the issue is so….
I know, I’m always extremely disappointed whenever I come across someone who thinks it’s the end all be all explanations regarding the Studio ZA/UM situation.
Recommending that video always comes with a heavy caveat from me that the person needs to stop around the 40 minute mark since the interviewer shows a very clear bias that’s unbecoming of a journalist.
Regardless, now that more people are finding out about these layoffs, which might take out members of the studio that have been there since the beginning, it could finally help smack some sense into those Twitter users that actually thought, FOR SOME REASON, Rostov, Kurvitz, and Hindpere were lying for shits and giggles rather than seeing what's ACTUALLY going on which is that the investors have a very obvious agenda against the real wronged party. Hopefully this'll also open their eyes to how the People Make Games video fed into this twisted narrative that Kurvitz was somehow at fault/responsible for the theft of his own IP, but that might be asking too much from their concrete brains. Here's hoping though!

A while ago, I got to join a kind of stream held by the script coordinator of HZ (Kureha Matsuzawa) after the broadcast of an episode he wrote.
He shared a few tidbits of his work and was really enthusiastic about Horizons and Pkmn in general. It was nice to witness so much passion behind the writing.

Kink setting safety net idea: Saviors
So you've been captured, locked in some kinky bondage dungeon or what have you. But you're not afraid! You're a proud, independent victim and you can save yourself! You'll figure out some way to escape eventually, and it can't be that bad, right? Wait your captor is going to do WHAT? No! No no no, oh god no, someone please help!
And then help arrives :D
In this setting where danger is never too dangerous, there are various different entities who's job is to get people out of distressing situations. This applies to various kinky and non-kinky situations, allowing perilous and unwilling scenarios to happen while providing a safety net in case of any serious distress or kink-squick mismatch.
There's almost always a cost, though, ranging from mundane payments to kinky nonsense to more unique agreements. On top of the costs, you also have to beg and plead with all your heart to get the attention of a savior, which is both emotionally demanding and humiliating.
The drawbacks are steep enough that most who get captured will prefer to just tolerate it until they're released or they manage to escape. Calling out for a savior is something only done in desperation.
"Savior" isn't a special species or anything, any person or group can be a savior. You just need to be capable of sensing and rescuing those in distress.
Here's a bunch of example saviors you can call for help the next time an unwilling kink scenario gets to be too much for you
Mind Goblins: This odd species of psychic goblins can sense distress and desires, and are drawn to those who have sufficiently depraved kinks. Their psychic abilities can be terrifyingly powerful, and captors are advised to stay out of their way during a rescue. Upon rescue, you'll be taken to their cave, where they use you as a kink-toy for anywhere from a week to a month. Resistance is a non-issue; the goblins only seek out those who will tolerate their antics, and only engage in kinks that the subject is into.
Guardian Network: This hivemind of robots was programmed to protect people and to expand itself, and it does just that, using anything from nanomachines to combat tanks to rescue victims. Through creative interpretation of its morality code, it only aids those who will pay it with resources to help it expand, such as money, building materials, property, etc. While the network usually ignores poor people, some with Particular Interests have attracted its attention by offering themselves to the network to be converted into a cyborg.
Earthling Petting Zoo: This extraterrestrial organization uses mental scanners to find earthlings who are likely to accept a place in their zoo. They'll simply teleport you out of whatever peril you've encountered into their spaceship, then get you prepped for a stay of 1-2 months. Life at the petting zoo is modest yet comfortable, but those willing to sign up for more unique forms of "petting" are offered rewards~
Vengeance Demons: These demon saviors are drawn those who feel not just distress, but also intense hatred and rage. They offer a chance to turn the tables against your captor(s) with the vast magic of hell, in ways ranging from kinky to karmic to fatal. The only cost is a simple signature, and the terms of their contracts are too good to be true!
Dreamscape Watcher: A curious denizen of the dream world. Mental manipulation often prevents victims from calling out for a savior, but when someone's mind is being altered unwillingly, the remaining embers of their original identity may cry out for help. The Watcher hears that cry. It pulls your mind into the dreamscape, where it observes and experiments on your psyche for a week or two. Meanwhile the Watcher pilots your body, getting it to safety and keeping it alive with psychic powers. When the Watcher is satisfied, it puts your mind back together in its original state and sends it back into your body.
Lordly Dragon: A powerful shapeshifting dragon that owns various human mansions and dragon lairs across the world, all of which need maintenance. They've learned to sense those of an obedient nature, and they rescue them in return for a month of service as a maid for a mansion or a kobold for a lair. You may also be a kobold in a maid outfit. Your Lord doesn't judge.
The Wild Pack: Most saviors sense acute distress, from a moment intense pain or fear or disgust. The Wild Pack senses the dull, drawn-out distress of a miserable day to day life, and the longing to escape from it. The pack of animals and monsters and werewolves steal you away into the wilderness, shifting your form and banishing your inhibitions. The price they demand is that you run and hunt and howl with the pack until after the next full moon, though many choose to stay long after that.
Angels: A group of saviors that are rarely seen, angels are the souls of those who suffered great torment during the last dark age of the world. They are drawn to only the most intense distress, those in true peril and misery, and they act regardless of whether they are called. Their robes shelter you from all harm, their tears numb your pain and heal your body, their voices comfort your heart and cleanse your soul, and their wings carry you to safety past any obstacles. They ask for nothing in return, seeking only a world where no one suffers a fate as cruel and unjust as theirs.
Thanks for reading! Tag or comment which savior you'd most like to be rescued by!

hey, regular reminder that if you get someone in your inbox (that you have never interacted with before/has never been following you) asking you to reblog a post on their blog (sob story asking for donations, usually about a pet to make it extra guilt-trippy) and they specifically ask you to answer this ask privately (for a vague and weak reason, why wouldn't they want more eyes on this post?) and then you go to their blog and their account is days old at most (and they're even claiming they have an old account that got shadowbanned ((?? being "shadowbanned" on tumblr does not mean you can't still post from that account?)) but never mention the url of that old blog) and all their reblogs are straight from the op and not from anyone they might be following who reblogged the post first (indicating they just quickly searched a semi-popular fandom tag to reblog some innocuous fanart to make the blog seem lived in)-
this is probably a scam :/ keep your eye out for odd details, inconsistency, and a glaring lack of credibility. stay safe out there everypony.
