I wanna write a Snowbaird fan fic where he dies and there is some kind of afterlife and Old Snow (after getting mauled by a bajillion angry Panem citizens) dies and ‘wakes up’ in a room with a screen and an afterlife guide that’s like “We know what happened to her (Lucy Gray), this is all the possibilities of what could’ve happened if you hadn’t reacted like a lunatic to a snake wanting somewhere dry to chill in.” and it’s just his version of hell where he realizes he just sabotaged himself because in the end all his work was basically for nothing because all of it was undone before he even croaked.

honestly i think it’s beautiful how toh portrayed the collectors redemption arc and alongside that i’m glad that they showed how not everyone is redeemable through belos. showing how intention can outweigh action when it comes to forgiveness is so important and i think that was shown amazingly by how the collector never intended to hurt them, thus making them redeemable, and belos always just wanting power but disguising it in the name of altruism, thus making him irredeemable. this was even pointed out directly the the titan (kings dad) when they said that luz is nothing like belos because his intention was never actually pure.

specifically in a way that he doesn't w/Pharaun bc every time he's fucking Pharaun he's always like. thinking about what Pharaun wants, how this feels for Pharaun etc. all of it is about Pharaun and not him. he just happens to be there, and if it feels good well that's fun too.

but i wanna try and write him with Rhyl more you know. actually enjoying what's happening. because he doesn't want to be Rhylfein, and so he doesn't have that projection issue fucking his brain when they're together

I've been thinking a lot about the whole purity culture struggle thing re: incest/twincest because of submas and while I absolutely get the issue of slippery slope censorship + how dark topics are not inherently bad, I feel like a lot of the issues people have in incest ships isn't neccarily with the actual incest portion, but actually the constant denial & erasure of deep platonic love, yet all shipper focus on is censorship or antis or 'being too sensative' etc...

for example, every goddamn year around Christmas people roll out the 'incest folgers commercial' and every goddamn year I have to practice my breathing so as to not lose my shit because why the fuck can a little sister not love her damn brother and be elated to see him again? why does that mean she wants to fuck him? why are we okay with belittling familial relationships, demanding they only show their love in a certain way?

just because you don't have that kind of relationship with your sibling doesn't mean no one does.

this can also be seen in found families and/or adopted families, as well as nonconforming queer-platonic relationships. so why is it not something to be had and acknowledged in creations?

another example is the batfam (aka the Waynes & co). despite Bruce CANONICALLY adopting various robins/sidekicks, people constantly deny they're siblings, shipping them with each other. and even with Bruce.

because 'it's not by blood'. because oh, whats the platonic explanation for such-and-such?

because platonic love is only allowed to be shown in one way, and if they do otherwise, if they consider them just as important, well clearly they're in ~romantic~ love.

its.... really demoralizing to say that if you care about someone a little too much, that means you want to fuck them. that's how we build a society that is lonely, divided, and lacking in a loving community, because the only love we put credit in is single, romantic love.

the tier list of relationships isn't 'romantic partner > family > friends'. in a better world, they're all equal to a point and given proper attention to sustain a healthy relationship altogether. just like gender or autism, love is a spectrum that we shouldn't demand conformity of.

and, ok, how does this relate back to submas?

I think a lot of the b-----kshippers really don't understand just how upsetting and even triggering it can be to have them interact with non-shipping stuff.

like... how many people base their work on their own siblings, on things they've experienced in their family? so a person make a submas comic or fic based on a memory with their own siblings. they're happy, want to share it, and we'll of course creators want to see what others think of their creations!

until they see tags or comments about how 'there's no platonic explanation' or how 'in love' they are or, hell, even just the simple tag noting the ship.

on a piece created after a real-life experience with their sibling.

that can shift the entire vibe, not only of the work and characters, but also the creator. now they're having their family relationship twisted & denied. will they stop creating for these characters? will they pull away from their siblings so no one ever claims they love them in that way?

I know that in my own writing, I constantly stop and question how close i make Ingo and Emmet, how their relationship may be viewed, despite it all being written 100% platonic. and it's agitating that I struggle with that, because it makes me feel so utterly gross that people look at what I make and deny that any other love is possible.

that also comes through in how I interact with creations of others, because I do not want to accidentally interact with something that twists platonic love languages or denies them. and i think people who ship such things demand understanding for their 'whys' without stopping to consider that maybe these 'antis' have reasons beyond 'ew incest taboo!'

what can we do? again, idk. censorship isnt..isn't... something im down with. but I think that those who do ship it need to be just as critical of how they interact with it and the fandom at large, because they impact our art just as much as we impact theirs.

there is a time and place for all creations.

don't act like disliking or wanting no interaction with them makes them pathetic or... whatever. you have your reason, we have ours. a trigger is still a trigger, even if the trauma it comes from is the menial yet constant societal pressure for romance to trump all other relationships.

so please look critically at how you interact with others too. don't view my stuff as bl------shipping. just... block me and move on. or whatever.

i am glad that we live in a time when fans can confidently hc their faves as queer. but it does concern me at times for like... bait reasons? and stuff getting tied up in media literacy. finding evidence to support your theory rather than viewing evidence and making a supposition. i just.

i guess i grew up in an era of fandom where characters were straight until proven gay, so i don't find myself getting baited as easily. i don't get disappointed when my personal headcanons are disproved by canon. because canon is one thing and fanon is another and that used to be fine.

we liked it when things were confirmed in canon but they didn't need it to be valid. i feel like i see a lot of people breaking their own hearts by not being skeptical because the writers MUST see it. even though historically, they rarely do.

Several weeks ago one of my coworkers called me over into her cubicle and gave me a very unexpected gift. Her mother passed away recently, and she'd been packing stuff up at her condo to give to relatives and sell, so the home could be sold. The mother was an avid knitter and crocheter, and when my coworker came upon her stash of equipment, she told me, she "immediately thought of me as someone who might get some use out of it."

So, I have inherited a varied collection of knitting needles and crochet hooks, cable needles, sewing needles, and, best of all, now-out-of-print pattern books, mostly for blankets, because that was what this lady loved to make most. Plus, I also have a bunch of gauge swatches she made, pinned to little bits of card covered in perfect schoolteacher handwriting setting out the patterns they were made to test.

And also...

My coworker brought another bag, full of yarn and...knitted blanket squares. Her mother's last started project, before she got too sick to continue. And she asked if there was anything I could do with it.

It turned out, there are twelve completed squares, and I quickly located the pattern book they are from amid those given to me. It's a book of 60 patterns, meant to be put together however the maker wishes into blankets of 20 squares. I figured out which of the numbered patterns were already made, and selected eight more that I thought might go well with them.

So now! I am working on completing! My coworker's mother's last knitting project!

And I really am feeling very good about doing it.

Now I really want to read a story where Bruce adopts Danny post Meta trafficking and is being his usual emotionally constipated self. His kids keep getting mad at him because he's treating their new meta brother who was trafficked poorly (generally being stilted in conversation with him, walking away hurriedly mid-conversation, avoiding Danny when he's feeling really awkward, etc). They think Bruce is discriminating against Danny for being a civilian, meta, dealer's pick, but really it's just Bruce being horribly socially awkward. Danny knows this because of ghost empathy and find the whole thing hilarious. The whole thing comes to a head with the Bat Kids staging an intervention in the Bat Cave.

We also know that Danny ‘is LITERALLY a ghost’ Fenton sucks at remembering his own intangibility while ALSO forgetting to look ahead of him.

All I’m saying is, Danny Fenton (or Phantom, if you’d really like) would absolutely SLAM into Batman on accident while running on roof tops and Bruce ‘Brooding Instinct’ Wayne doesn’t even think twice about letting the kid hide and scanning around for danger before there’s a record scratch of ‘wait who tf is this?’ kicks in.
