i am glad that we live in a time when fans can confidently hc their faves as queer. but it does concern me at times for like... bait reasons? and stuff getting tied up in media literacy. finding evidence to support your theory rather than viewing evidence and making a supposition. i just.

i guess i grew up in an era of fandom where characters were straight until proven gay, so i don't find myself getting baited as easily. i don't get disappointed when my personal headcanons are disproved by canon. because canon is one thing and fanon is another and that used to be fine.

we liked it when things were confirmed in canon but they didn't need it to be valid. i feel like i see a lot of people breaking their own hearts by not being skeptical because the writers MUST see it. even though historically, they rarely do.
