Imagine my surprise, when I was doing D&D with my friends. We were waiting for someone to join the call, so I went on tumblr to pass some time. I see, oh, I have an ask! Is it one of my friends? We send silly asks to each other a lot. Is it someone sending a character for the ask game? That’d be a first (exaggeration). Is it another person sending podcast recs? Thanks by the way.

when you create a character and want to give them a nickname, it might sound ideal to call them something cute or cool like nightshade or candy or other stuff, but i think its inherently more realistic and way more funnier if you have in mind that most of the times nicknames come from other people, like your friends or family, and they can be straight up violating

from what ive gathered throughout the years of living amongst people, there are a few "nickname categories", and they are as follows:

your surname has a somehow funny word in it and its now your nickname for forever

youve had a misfortune of reminding someone of some fictional character and now you are called by that characters name

actually, youve had a misfortune of reminding someone of anything, be it a plant or an animal or an inanimated object, and it is now your nickname

youve misspelled/mispronounced a word and everyone collectively agreed that its how they will call you from now on

(the last one is personal bc i legit didnt know how "auchan" is pronounced and i said it wrong in front of my friends (rookie mistake). ive been auchan (the mispronounced way) for a long, long time)

obviously do what you want with your characters, but i highly encourage the funny nicknames. they can add so much to the oc, both in the dynamic they have with their friends/family, and also in terms of a backstory for them

i love how right out the gate danganronpa sets you up for this suspension of disbelief with the concept of hopes peak academy. like its such a creative and interesting concept but in practice itd be such a stupid idea and that just makes the series all the more fun and ridiculous

#im talking about the idea of each student being the very best in their field but then everyone is in a different line of work #like thats such a clever idea and so much fun to see #but can you imagine how much of a disaster that would be irl #like i ofc cant speak for the other characters but as a musician #i cant stress enough how important it is for the development of a musician #to be in an environment learning amongst and around other musicians #and i can only imagine its the same for every other talent they have in the game #but its a concept we all just accept and go along with because its great storytelling #and once weve accepted that it makes other ridiculous things feel plausible too #i could go on about how some of the games hold a wayyy better suspension of disbelief than others #but yeah #danganronpa

Ok I can't keep it in my drafts this time. enlighten me if you want; why do people think Diluc is like, a good guy?

Let me be clear, I love Diluc, but I also think he's kind of a shithead. I don't think his actions towards Kaeya can ever be construed as reasonable, his decision to seek vengeance alone irresponsible (even if Kaeya encouraged him), and his vigilantism a product of his paternalistic belief that only he knows what's good for Mondstadt (untrue).

Diluc in the present is the man trying to come back from the bad person he has been. But his solution is to force himself to do a job he never thought he'd have and challenge random Fatui factions to a fight so he can torture them in his basement. I think he has the capacity for good in him, and is trying to change, but I don't see why people think that his actions were all totally a good idea and when we say he's "an uncrowned king of Mond" that's not like, frightening.
