Part 1 - Fizzes

you’d joined smosh in summer last year, just after anthony’s return. you’d watched smosh with your brother as a kid, so getting this editing job was a dream come true. although you hadn't watched their stuff in years, you quickly adapted to the quick thinking environment.

you got the job from your roommate angela, who was a cast member. you guys are super close, so when she mentioned that they had an editing vacancy, you jumped at the opportunity to leave your job at a marketing company to go work woth her. living with angela proved useful, because after your first day, you asked her about spencer, and oh did she have stuff to tell you.

“hey hey, whats the deal with the uh, spencer guy at work?” you said to her at dinner.

“(Y/N) ITS THE FIRST DAY AND YOU ALREADY HAVE THE HOTS FOR SPENCER?? I MEAN I’D UNDERSTAND IF IT WAS SOMEONE LIKE-” she began shouting, laughing at your face as you blushed

“jelly i- please, just- okay yeah, he’s cute but i don't want to make a move, he’s basically my boss!”

“this is also true. okay so…” she begins to ramble to this spencer guy you, as you eat your spaghetti. he’s so totally your type, but would you make a move? you can't decide.

the days passed, and soon enough you’d been at smosh for a month now. angela, being angela, had one day let slip to amanda of your small crush on spencer

“(y/n)!! get your butt over here!” she beamed at you, so you obliged, because who wouldn't listen to amanda? she's 6 feet of pure love, you listen to everything she says

“a little birdie, who cant keep her mouth shut after two glasses of wine, told me that you like spencer?” she looks at you, a certain glint in her eye

“okay, maybe, JUST maybe, i have a teeny, tiny crush on him. BUT i don't think im going to make a move.” you looked into her eyes, feeling dejected, because you felt he would never like you back.

the events that ensued, you couldn't even keep up with. every day on set, amanda would rake you into a conversation she was having with spencer, or angela would ask you to go to his desk give him something off her. you weren't nescaserily complaining, but it was less than ideal, because you became a stuttering mess around him.

“hey spence, um- angela wanted me to give you this, i mean i dont know why she didnt bring it herself, its kind of lazy, she is, i mean- she isnt but she has me running around for her, but thats friendship right? i mean i’d make her do that, but not if-”

he gazes up into your eyes and gently places a hand on your arm, sending small jolts through your body.

“dude, it’s just me, relax!” he smiles at you, as you give him the mt dew kickstart angela sent you over to give him.

“tell angela thanks by the way!” he said, as you walked over to angela, who was trying not to break out into a big smirk

“oh spencer! angela is making me do things for her! oh woe is me! hold me incase i fall!” she placed the back of her palm to her forehead, dramatically falling into amanda’s arms

“hey! thats not what i sounded like! right? i didn't. right.” you said, becoming increasingly concerned if it was that obvious. courtney, erin d, and arasha walked over to you guys

“hey dudes,” courtney began “whats up with you guys?”

“oh, i bet theyre taking about how (y/n) is totally into spencer” arasha said, stifling a giggle.

you stood with your mouth slightly agape, gawking at her remark.

“is it really that obvious!?” you whined, slumping into a chair.

“i mean,” erin looked at you, as you tried folding into the air to disappear, “we’re the only ones who’ve noticed so far, but i don't think the boys have caught on! i think you're good”

“maybe minus josh,” courtney added, “i was sat with him and he asked me about why (y/n) was ‘oogling at spencer’ on that board af video. but he wont tell, he’s too nice”

a few days pass, and your crush on spencer had become slightly bigger. taking advantage of this, courtney decided to make you, angela, and spencer (the ‘golden trio’ as the fans called you) do an episode of who meme'd it.

“hello and welcome everyone to a brand spankin’ new episode of who memed it!” shayne began, earning a small round of applause from the crew.

“today, we have everyone’s favourite roommates and spencer!”

you were leant on angela’s shoulder, but perked up to smile at the camera

“hi guys!” angela grins at the camera, waving aggressively

“dude!” spencer yelled at shayne “why cant i be the favourite roommate!” he looked dejected

“spencer, we lived together and i have never slept worse, the only thing in our apartment was mt dew and granola bars!!”

you look over at him and giggle, feeling your cheeks begin to warm up

as the rounds go on, angela is on 5 points, you’re on 4, and spencer is on 8.

“okay, next meme!” shayne boasts

the next thing on screen made everyone cackle.

immediately, shayne starts giggling, and puts his fists against the wall, not being able to look at any of you. angela is crying with laughter, and even spencer is giggling. you just stare into the camera in shock.

through tears, shayne manages “oh my- all- alright who memed it, was it tommy, josh, was it courtney, or was it erin, our lovely producer”

you each place your guesses, and its revealed to be a secret shayne meme. you swear you could burn holes through him.

after wrap, you went off with angela giggling about some of the things, your mind still racing from being so close to spencer. for so long. it was cringey, yes, but you felt so exited when you were around him, you couldn't help it!

but little did anyone know, spencer was just as infatuated with you, and he was waiting for the day be mustered up the courage to ask you out

the setting is a small-ish island off the coast of north carolina which’s population is parted into two main groups: the kooks aka the rich people living on figure eight with their fancy houses and even fancier boats, throwing parties and playing golf and sipping cocktails all day and then the pogues aka the poor ppl from the southside, living on the cut. the working class, the fisher men, the small business owners. there’s also the tourists but they dont play a big role. the main character is john booker routledge (named after his father big john routledge, an avid treasure hunter, who is presumed dead). his best friend is JJ, as pogue-ish as they come: father is a drunk, he’s always in trouble, skipping school, surfing, breaking and entering, the “i know a guy” in every situation kinda dude, he’s a doer, thinks up the most insane plans of action, impulsive, ballsy asf. his other friend pope, has loving parents, super book smart, scholarship smart, a little weird and odd, no rizz whatsoever, has his heart at the right spot. then there’s kiara (kie), lives with her parents on figure 8 but she’s always hanging with them. she’s all about protecting the planet, nature, wildlife, anti pollution and littering and super cool. the boys all kinda have a thing for her. at the start of the show there’s a heavy storm and things happen, a person goes missing, the police gets involved and it all snowballs into the four of them taking on the treasure hunt john b’s dad was following before he disappeared. things get really complicated when john b has to accept help from sarah (his boss’s daughter <- kookiest of kooks) and they go on a little adventure and totally fall in love ofc. little do they know that sarah’s dad is the bad guy of the story, because of whom ppl keep disappearing and who is also after the treasure. sarah also has a boyfriend which she cheats on with john b and she has an older brother that’s a cokehead and a bit (a lot) of a psychopath, generally. like, even off drugs. there’s something wrong with this young gentleman<3 so yeah, they all fight over this lost treasure and they get shot at a lot, have to run from the cops a lot and love each other a lot. it’s messy and it’s fun but hey that’s the pogue life baby

okay so summary of his early life: his mom was mia and his dad had trouble settling down. yoo jaemin was a dreamer and when his dreams inevitably didn't work out he'd fall into alcohol and anger until he found a new idea to latch onto. they moved from place to place, expending the hospitality of their neighbors until they were eventually forced out again. it was one neighbor in particular, an elderly man who sold oranges from a fold out chair in the street, that started developing jaehoon's love of stories. the man would talk to jaehoon for hours, telling him the most fascinating and exciting tales. when he introduced jaehoon to the library and an entire building of stories, jaehoon's young life was changed forever.

things took a turn from the better when, after a drunken bar fight landed him in the hospital, jaemin met oh inah. she was one of his nurses and she was charmed by his sweet smile and big plans. they dated briefly and married quickly and jaehoon found himself suddenly part of a complete family that came pre-built with an older brother and a mom. he had trouble trusting that the situation was permanent, but after a couple of years of patience and effort from both his step brother and inah, he found himself truly happy for the first time in his life.

it was only a matter of time before jaemin once more started concocting big plans that ended up in disaster. after convincing inah to put her life's savings into helping him purchase a run-down building he'd planned to fix up, the building ended up collapsing and the investment was greater than what he could sell the land for. they were broke. after a few months of vicious fighting, jaemin finally dipped leaving his son behind.

inah didn't for a second make jaehoon feel unwelcome or like a burden despite her new situation. she made it clear he was her son, no different from her oldest. she focused on making sure he was okay in the aftermath even as she found herself struggling to make ends meet. jaehoon got his first job as a delivery boy at fourteen years old to help out how he could.

they moved into a tiny one room apartment - the boys shared the bedroom and inah slept on the couch. she picked up extra shifts at the hospital and did what she could to make sure her kids didn't want for much. but they were both old enough to know what was happening and jaehoon did his very best to stay near the top of his class in school and have enough energy to bring in some extra money.

after he graduated secondary school, he got a job at kyobo book centre and really found a place he was comfortable. his plan was to save up some money, do his military service, and then come back and go to university so he could become a teacher. but life has a way of not working out quite right. inah found out she was pregnant when jaehoon was twenty one years old, and she gave birth to oh hana was born when he was twenty two. the birth had some complications and after a couple of days inah passed away.

naturally, jaehoon was distraught. but he and his brother had a kid to take care of so he didn't let himself linger in the feelings for long and threw himself into work. what was meant to be a job for a few years ended up becoming something more permanent and he worked his way up to management pretty quickly. since then, keeping up the store, taking care of hana, and working on his own creative projects have been the things keeping him going while he tries to figure out how he can climb out of the hole again.

Part 1; Stranger things shiftverse.

Summary: Your Dustin Henderson older sister(your going into senior year) - this part takes place in season 3. Your working at Starcourt mall, upper level floor in the brand new record store - your coworkers are Eddie Munson & Gareth. Every lunch Robin and you share some fries in the food court. (of course within season 3 Robin knows who Dustin is and he is present for when the group goings to see Dawn of the Dead)

(you were present for all seasons) - Things have gotten tense between Steve and you since he basically saved you from the tunnels when you decided to help the kids distract the demodogs (season 2). You were one of the popular girls in school - you also happened to be a secret nerd who loved playing DND with her little brother, your best friend is Robin Buckley - until you dropped band to hangout with your "new friends". Those same friends teased and humiliated Nancy Wheeler, you werent a bully but you sure didnt like Nancy - maybe thats why the both of you never got along, because of the shared likeness of Steve - of course only Robin knew how much you liked him (season 1).

It was a normal day in the record shop - stock, hangout, front face, hangout - and took a lunch somewhere in there. "Hey Eddie - im gonna head for lunch" a smile ripped across your face "you know your like the coolest boss i could ever ask for" -

Eddie exhaled sharply - "if your asking for a FREE extra 15 then you better come back with some Orange Julius for me" he smiled. Before you could squeal your bottom lip was between your teeth -"thank you Eddieee".

You were zipping through the crowd of people on the escalator to reach scoops before it was too busy in the food court - 'thank god' the table Robin and you usually sit at was unoccupied. Quickly you walked over to scoops to grab Robin - to your surprise Steve stood front and center slinging ice cream, "Wheres Robin?' you asked while walking in-

"Ahoy there" Steve softly shouted with his big goofy smile - "shes just grabbing more cones in the back, but judging that your here im assuming its lunch?" Steve spun the ice cream scoop in his hand - quickly to attach it to his side.

You nodded softly - "yeah - let her know ill be at the table" you smiled back - Steve nodded. You heard the door fling open behind you as soon as you turned around.

"ill be right there y/n - just a sec" Robin shouted - she was holding what looked to be at least 6 really long boxes of cones. You wanted out of there - looking at Steve was reminding you of his 'heroic' moment - saving you from that demodog, sharing a soft kiss - just for him to run right back to Nancy's side. You rolled your eyes at the thought and waited for Robin. Robin came jogging out of the back with her backpack on and holding her cassette player - "go go go" Robin laughed -

"ROBI-" Steve shouted behind the both of you. - "what did you do??" you questioned while walking over to your table-

Robin still laughing - "I hid both ice cream scoops" she snickered.

Lunch always felt short, Eddie always gave you a free pass with letting you go for longer lunches but Robin always had to go back at the 30 minute mark. Robin packed up her backpack and took the rest of the fries(you usually shared) - "I'm still good to come to your house this weekend right?" you asked while picking up your mess.

"yeah yeah my dad said it's cool" - Robin smiled - "see you after work"

Robin walked back to scoops and you walked towards Orange Julius to grabbed Eddies drink. You stood in line tapping your foot to the beat of the mall music - well of what you could hear, 'why was it always so busy at this time' you thought to yourself-

"Hey" Steve's voice chimed through your ears - startling you

"what the hell dude" you jumped "that was not cool" your heart was racing

"What are you doing? I thought your lunch was done 5 minutes ago" Steve asked - now standing beside you.

You looked down at your feet - then quickly back up at Steve - "just grabbing a drink for Eddie." you practically vomited out that sentence - "he lets me take an extra 15 if I grab him a drink"

Steve's hand quick met the back of his neck - looking down at the ground now - "so are you and Eddie - like a thing now?"

You started to laugh "sure he's cute - but Eddie is just my friend" still laughing - "well and my dudgeon master"

Steve's face quickly lifted from the ground - "NEXT" the cashier yelled out - quickly Steve and you jolted forward, Steve stood there silently while you ordered Eddies Original Julius smoothie.

"So - y/n, I'm throwing a party this Saturday - would you uh like to come?" Steve looking down at you with those soft brown eyes-

You exhaled sharply and grabbed Eddies drink - "maybe - I'll think about it" you smiled - "Have a good lunch Steve" you smiled.

My (very late) 3AM thoughts on the final episode of Ousama Ranking (pt 1)

I had decently high hopes for episode 23, I really did. And it (mostly) delivered! Except for one part.

To get the part I didn't like out of the way... you guys probably know what I'm talking about... I'm unhappy about the way Miranjo's redemption was carried out. Daida just goes "I know you've committed a lot of crime, heinous crime. Literal war crimes. Like straight up ordering the murder of Queen Sheena, my brother's mother, for the sake of your selfish goals. And I accept your crimes, because you suffered a lot too." Daida, bless his 12-year old heart, forgave Miranjo for her many misdeeds because of all the pain and suffering she had gone through... by choosing to MARRY her.

Whaaaaat???

There are multiple reasons why this is really weird. First of all, their previous relationship dynamic as well as their age gap. Daida is around the age of 11-14, and Miranjo is a full grown woman, possibly in her mid twenties to thirties. While Miranjo existed as the magic mirror, it was clearly established that she took on the role of a mentor, or perhaps even a maternal figure. She offered advice and counsel to Daida, and thus manipulated him into doing what she wanted according to her plan to use his body as a vessel for Bosse. She was a mentor revealed to be a manipulative traitor. Afterwards, when Daida was trapped in the unfeeling void prison of his father's mind scape, Miranjo's heart, represented by a version of herself when she was a very young child, shows herself to Daida. Daida then proceeds to care for and comfort the young Miranjo much like an older brother. There's a bit of a role reversal here. The cared for became the carer, the guided became the guide. I can somewhat understand Daida when he said to Miranjo, "You were my light in the darkness" because she influenced almost all his actions as Prince, and kept him company and prevented him from going insane in the void. However that line comes off as needlessly dramatic and is over exaggerating Miranjo's role in keeping Daida sane.

Then suddenly, their relationship is framed in a romantic context. Daida goes "im gonna marry miranjo yeah" and even princess carries her and comforts her like... DUDE she manipulated you and hurt you and everyone you love and MADE YOU DRINK YOUR DEAD DAD. How the hell did he come to the conclusion that marrying the one who singlehandedly threw his entire kingdom into chaos was the right choice??? And the worst part? All the adults in the show are okay with this. Yes, they are surprised but in the end... The big 4 are fine with it if Daida's okay. Despa gives some random speech I dont remember but is ultimately fine with the choice. Bojji is surprisingly okay with this?? And finally, Queen Hiling, who had the most violent objection to this, accepts it too. At least her reaction made the most sense. Miranjo just knelt there and cried or whatever. She's grateful yes, but she's totally ok with marrying a kid? She's not gonna like... refuse? yeah ok makes SenSE

This brings me to my second point, Miranjo is/was a shitty person who hurt many people including Daida himself. I'm not gonna list all the bad things she's done because if you're reading this, you've either finished the whole anime or making the silly choice of spoiling yourself. For the entire show, Miranjo has been built up as the big bad main antagonist. To the manga and anime's credit, they've done a great job humanising her and showing off the more sympathetic side of her character. Nevertheless it does not excuse the atrocities she committed for the sake of her selfish love for Bosse. I went from hating her completely to feeling sorry for her and liking her a little more. But does this mean that because Miranjo went through many horrible things in her childhood, that it should excuse the bad things she's done? HELL NO. The story tries to touch on this point, it acknowledges that Miranjo has done Bad Stuff, and even throws in a consequence to her actions. As payback for everything she's done, Miranjo gets the well deserved fate of having her soul ripped apart, consumed, barfed out and fixed only to have the cycle repeat for ALL ETERNITY in a blazing hell within the demon she betrayed. Not gonna lie that scene was INTENSE. And I felt bad for her, but you reap what you sow.

My main issue here, is that there is no lasting consequence for Miranjo's crimes. She is locked in that hellscape for like 15 minutes before being saved by Bojji and Daida, who straight up STOLE Despa's wish to save Ouken. Asshole move but okay. And the moment she's out everyone just forgives her at the drop of a hat and she gets her happily ever after. But to be fair she does agree to atone for the horrible things she's done and work towards making the kingdom happy instead of focusing on what she wants.

Now for my third and final point, it all feels like bad writing. The author is a great writer, but sometimes the best of us make mistakes. Sosuke Toka wanted a happy fairy tale ending for the main characters, and there's nothing wrong with that at all! I myself love happy endings. But the way he went about writing it was just wrong. He wrote a good end point but the journey there felt rushed and hamfisted in so that he could get his happy ending regardless of how nonsensical it would seem in the story. In the first place, Daida shouldn't have and probably logically would not have proposed to Miranjo that easily. He does not harbour romantic feelings to her at all, and frankly the romantic undertones of the last episode and the one before that felt wildly inappropriate in my opinion. What he still would have done is save her from her cruel fate at the hands of the demon.

I envision a scene that would go like this: After Miranjo is saved, instead of the proposal and "light in my darkness" shit, Daida goes: "Miranjo. You have hurt me, my family and put my entire country in danger. You have committed countless atrocities in the name of love for my father, the late King Bosse. But despite everything, I think you should have a second chance. Nobody deserves to go through such immense suffering. Now don't misunderstand me, I haven't forgiven you. Not yet. I want you to use this opportunity to right the wrongs you have committed, and maybe... you can find your own happiness. For yourself, and no one else." Honestly if anyone were to forgive Miranjo so early on it would probably be Bojji? That kid has too big of a heart for his own good. Daida would probably come around to it some time after his brother. The adults (excluding apeas lol) would take way longer and some may not ever forgive Miranjo at all. But hey, I prefer this ending rather than the proposal one.

Even if the proposal did happen, I would expect the adults to freak out more and object crazy hard. like "Your majesty king daida I know you are the king but YOU CANT MARRY HER WHAT IN THE FUCK MAN". Daida would not react well to that lol. How I personally would rewrite the story from here is that Hiling would come in and talk to both daida and miranjo, how she does not approve of them marrying each other, and give a similar speech like I wrote for daida earlier. Then, I would give Miranjo agency to make the choice whether to accept the proposal or not. In the anime and manga, Miranjo never really said a concrete yes or no, she just cried. But judging by her final statement it was probably a "yes". Obviously in this case I would write her to say "No." Miranjo would say something like "King Daida, I am most grateful but I do not want to marry you. I am deeply indebted to you your Highness, but please understand, I do not see you that way. I am much too old for you, it would not be right. Thank you so much for giving me a second chance. I promise you that I will devote my life to atoning for my sins, and bring happiness to the kingdom." Hiling and the others would be more accepting of this outcome imo.

Then BOOM. happy fairytale ending woohooooo. Same end, different journey, no weirdness. I don't have a problem with forgiving Miranjo, it's just that it should come later and in a more natural way.

the whole waking up sequence was so intense, but so revealing, especially about kinn. this is kinn at his rawest, and his most vulnerable, and it’s such a stark contrast to him in the rest of the episode. he knows what this must have done to porsche, he knows that it’s his fault and his families fault that porsche was hurt, and he does try to make sure he’s okay. he asks several times, gives him the days off he thinks he’ll need to recover and doesn’t plan on doing anything else until korn gets in his head. he even argues with his father at first, insists that its their families fault that porsche was hurt, but then korn brings up whatever happened with his ex in the same way that vegas did in the last ep and its like a slap in the face and it hurts. but it works, and korn knows that it works, its why he uses it against his own son despite the fact he obviously still hasn’t dealt with the pain that came with it all. and the little close up on porsche when he asks why they’re targeting him, like they both know the reason but porsche wants to hear it and kinn cant give it to him im 🥺

but it’s exactly what you said, he wants so badly to keep porsche at a distance, to pretend that he doesn’t mean anything to him but he cant. whatever he’s doing, porsche is always at the forefront of his mind and he must hate it. for a guy that’s so controlled in every aspect of his life, being unable to control the feelings he has towards porsche must be insufferable. he tries so hard to pretend though, he dishes out a punishment, he tries to sleep with someone else, he insists that porsche doesn’t need to ask him permission, he replaces him, but every time there’s an action that opposes what he’s saying. he can’t sleep with anybody else without thinking of porsche and feeling guilty, he falls asleep waiting for him to get home when he goes out with vegas, he seeks him out when he’s not around, and then he follows him to his home and actually makes the effort to talk to him nicely, actually apologises for what he did to him.

and like, we as the audience get to see kinn’s actions and the way he feels towards porsche, we have the luxury of knowing that kinn actually likes him and actually does have feelings for him, we get to see the motivations behind everything he does, why he dishes out a punishment for him. but from porsche’s perspective kinn’s just the guy who uses him and then throws him aside and it must hurt, it must kill him inside, it’s why he’s so cold and distant and why he’s suffering so much in the ep.

there’s really something to be said about how kinn, current head and heir to the theerapanyakul legacy, went to his bodyguard’s house alone in the middle of the night to get him back. about him sitting with his friends and waiting until they’re alone, about not forcing porsche to send them away or to pull him inside to talk to him. like, kinn is a spoiled brat, he gets what he wants, he’s used to everybody doing what he says no questions asked, but pete tells him if he wants to talk to porsche he needs to be patient and talk to him calmly and he does, he puts in the effort with him because he cares.

cant wait for my scene in the next ep where i just show up and curb stomp vegas. the whole scene of him and porsche riding on the bike was so terrifying because it shows how good vegas is at manipulating people, at getting into their heads and making them see him how he wants them to see him. again, we have the luxury of knowing that it was vegas who drugged porsche, but porsche doesn’t. and watching him get close and be so smiley and happy around him is so so disconcerting and they did it so well.

korn is so sus i distrust that old man immensely, and i cant wait for kim and chay to be soft 🥺🥺 but that also means there’s going to be angst where chay finds out that kim used him to get close to porsche and he’s going to feel so hurt and betrayed and im unfortunately going to have to wittle the theerapanyakul siblings down to 2
