hi guys. let me tell you about this fucking geriatric woman in my house right now.
so my moms best friend is in town so she came to visit and she’s staying the night. she brought her mother with her. my mom, dad, my mom’s best friend and her husband went out to sightsee and stuff, and the mother insisted she wanted to stay home and rest bc she’s been tired. me and my siblings stayed home naturally.
well.
this woman has me PAMPERING her 24/7 i kid u not as soon as she sees my ass touch the chair her brain like does a short circuit or something bc. here has been my night so far. :,)
“can you please bring me an extra pillow”
“can you please bring me a box of tissues”
“can you please turn the fan off for me, i’m cold”
“can you please bring me some water—i need room temperature or i’ll get sick”
“can you please change the channel to this, i don’t know how to work your remote”
“can you please fix my facebook, i logged out. no i don’t know my password. hang on let me ask my son. here talk to my son, do it quick he has to get back to work. oh, while you’re at it, could you reply to this comment for me”
“it’s getting late, i’m ready for dinner” (i make dinner)
“hmm, this is getting cold. could you reheat this for me” (i get up in the middle of eating my dinner to reheat her dinner)
“are those mangoes i see in your fruit bowl? i love mangoes” (i ask her if she’d like for me to cut them for her bc i’m polite and i can pick up on the hint she’s dropping) “oh, you’d cut them for me? oh yes, that would be lovely”
“oh while you’re at it, could you cut that apple too”
“can you please adjust this couch for me” (me, now forced to crouch down and adjust the reclining chair to her liking for her perfect position)
“oh, could you please grab my charger from the room i’m staying in? my phone will die in a bit”
“could you please change the channel once more? no not that one. oh, wait! yes this one! can you turn the volume up—no that’s too high, turn it down a bit please”
I. AM. ON. THE. VERGE. OF. KILLING. EVERYONE. IN. THIS. HOUSE.
IM SICK OF THIS RANDOM 70 YEAR OLD HAG WHO HAS 2 DAYS UNTIL HER EXPIRATION DATE HAVING ME DO MUNDANE TASKS FOR HER LIKE IM SOME MAID

The most frustrating part of engaging in any of this discourse with pro-Israel people is that they claim there's just something ineffable about "seeing and understanding" how supporting Palestinian liberation is directly calling for the eradication of Jewish people (as if that type of rhetoric isn't exactly how actual antisemitism often manifests in online spaces but that's a topic for another day)
They get through people debunking the "the land belongs to the people of Israel anyway" argument and the "LGBTQ Palestinians are safe in Israel" argument and the "Genocide isn't what's happening here so you should educate yourself" argument and when all of those points are meticulously disproven over and over they still stand with "Well, myself and your Jewish friends see the hate you have in your heart for us" and it truly doesn't matter what you say at that point because even if you yourself are Jewish they will claim that refusing to support the state, government and military of Israel is inherently hateful and bigoted, as if a religious ethnostate is some inherent human right that is being taken away from them. I know many of them are blinded by the relentless propaganda that's been around their whole lives and how hard it is to break free from a belief system that is so tied to your core identity as a human being but it is so frustrating watching people being led straight to the point over and over again and just turning around and refusing to see it.
It's also so frustrating to see people using the momentum of this movement to casually tack on actual antisemitism to these discussions, as if having Jewish people in positions of power is why the US bends over backwards to excuse the actions of Israel and not, yknow, the fact that our government directly benefits from having a military stronghold in the middle east. I've talked to some well-meaning pro-Palestine friends irl who casually use antisemetic talking points because they've ALSO bought into the narrative that Israeli = Jewish and so they blame the actions of Israel and the IDF on Jewish people's "religious values" and ignore the fact that this conflict really has almost nothing to do with religion itself and everything to do with capitalism, imperialism and maintaining the US's status as a so-called "global power".

With your parents being annoying… I can hear the feeling of intrusion and I don’t know your relationship… but as a mother let me tell you: you carry a peace of your heart outside your body… a call every two weeks would kill me … just to get a perspective for the other side. The problem is usually when they don’t care :). It is hard to find the mix between distance and closeness especially when trying to find your own way in the world. Overprotectiveness can be crushing… but trust me, it was much much easier to be mad at my parents before I had a kid of my own 😄😄🙈 again, not telling you what to feel and I am sure you guys will figure out some way
you’re right, you don’t know our relationship which makes this an unbelievably disrespectful and honestly downright cruel message to send.
she is the one who does not call me for upwards of a month at a time. i honestly can’t remember the last time she called me first. it’s all me. she barely remembers she has another kid and when she does she switches to being possessive and invasive to ‘make up for it’ or whatever. she doesn’t fucking care most of the time. and that’s not worse, this is not better, it all fucking sucks. the only thing im trying to balance is my parents’ continued degree of financial control over my life vs how badly it harms me to continue to have contact with them.
also, if she wanted more frequent contact she could’ve tried idk not abusing me. that might’ve helped. the cptsd makes it a little fucking hard to prioritize having a chat with her, what with her literally almost killing me several times and all. i may be a piece of her heart outside her body or what the fuck ever but she sure as hell didn’t let that stop her from destroying me as a person and blaming me for it. maybe if the idea of not hearing from your kid however often you want bothers you start with ‘don’t be abusive’ and go from there. im making plans for my first kid at the moment and i cannot fathom a world where having that child is going to make me anything but more angry at them for the shit they did to me.
not that you’re entitled to any of that information. just thought you might be jolted out of whatever rosy parents can do no wrong world you live in where there can’t possibly be a fucking reason aside from ‘oh surely this stranger doesn’t get why someone’s mom might want to hear from them’ that someone might not be fucking thrilled to call their mother. i cannot begin to describe how invasive and upsetting a message this was to get when i have already been having a difficult weekend regarding being triggered about this shit.
‘i can hear the feeling of intrusion and i dont know your relationship’ so you know this was wrong to say, then? listen to that feeling next time. it’s your fucking conscience and it might keep you from lecturing the next fucking abuse victim about how they’re probably hurting their abusers’ poor feelings and they just don’t get a mother’s love and how it feels or whatever. fuck off and go to hell.

watched love simon again, had a breakdown, bon appetit.
something about how simon had (eventually) all that support - his mom told him he got to breathe now, his dad apologized for the jokes and for never seeing it, everyone said they loved him, that he was still him
anyway. rough never got the chance to do that (at least not to that extent, albeit also avoiding the wretched way it went down). at most, he came out to some friends at college, but not fully, not to everyone
and yeah, his parents might've been fine with it. emily probably would've. they would've all adjusted. eventually. but now he'll never know, is the issue. he won't get to tell them, and now everyone is going to remember him wrong. they are going to label and bury a casket containing a body that no longer belongs to him (and frankly, hasn't belonged to him in a long time)
functionally, he wasted his time. he Did School, then he graduated and Did College, then he died. he didn't get to Do a real relationship, or being himself. "you get to breathe now, you're still you" but is he? he never was himself, not all the way. "oh you're still yourself on the inside, no matter what other people saw or say" other people see him buried and mourn a girl who died years ago and he can't correct them
