Question, in the first few chapters on WondLa, before Rovee gave Eva the translator, were you able to decode what Besteel and Rovee were saying? I’m still having a hard time trying to figure out what they’re saying. Still wondering what Shee-na means.

Lmao. I love conlangs, so I've definitely tried to translate the non-human dialogue a couple times over the years, so I'll give it my best shot!

First, I think "shee-na" probably means "quiet" or a variation thereof, given that Rovender makes a shushing motion when saying that. As for book dialogue:

"'Ovanda say tateel?'" (pg. 69, Rovender)

Likely "What are you doing?" I'd be inclined to translate as "Who/what are you?" instead if not for the fact that Rovender says this same thing to Eva when she's hiding under Otto on pg. 94. They're sort of familiar with each other at this point, so it doesn't make any sense to ask who she is again.

"'Daff effu Cærulean?'" (pg. 77, Besteel)

Possibly something along the lines of a snarky greeting, or "What are you doing, Cærulean?", or even "We meet again, Cærulean?". From context clues, I'd say Besteel and Rovender have crossed paths before (they seem slightly familiar with each other; Besteel knows Rovender by name) and have a history of not liking the other/Rovender keeps messing with Besteel. This is also why I'd posit a snarky greeting.

"'Tuda neem,'" (pg. 82, Besteel)

"Don't worry," meant in an extremely worrying fashion.

"'Kap und gabbo.... Ta, broog iffa yu nabba,'" (pg. 83, Besteel)

Context seems to suggest "ta" is "yes" in the common Orbonian language. The whole thing is perhaps "You can't escape [or you are scared].... Yes, you will be perfect [or: you will live]," possibly as a reference to his mission to capture specimans to free Redimus.

"'Oeeah. Te banga nee peezil,'" (pg. 83, Rovender)

"Oeeah" is an exclamation, so has no translation. Possibly "see what he's doing there"?

Eva is referred to as "the nymph" and-- I believe-- "the nymph of the forest" and, in the 200 years later epilogue, the language blend of English and the common Orbonian language gives us "'Feezi, known as Eva'", providing a direct translation. This whole phrase, then, could be "Bluh, ridiculous nymph."

1.He pretty.... Okay but in all seriousness I love how like- dimensional of a character he is, not to toot my own horn, but I am very proud of the way I wrote him, like I have unfortunately fallen into the "only writes one dimensional characters" thing before but I honestly feel like he feels human to me. Like yes, he can be cold, he does prefer to be seen as stone faced/intimidating to those he doesn't know/trust, yes he has trauma and has his unhealthy coping methods, but he's also happy and so filled with love for those around him, he cares so deeply about the ones he loves that it tears him up when he can't do it in ways he sees fit. He sucks at showing emotion but he's also a huge crybaby(literally), him being intimidating doesn't stop him from also being a softie. Idk if any of that makes sense but overall I just love that he doesn't fall flat like a lot of characters I've written, he feels fleshed out and like an actual person.

2.According to the MBTI test I just took, ISFJ-T, which feels fair, though I would say to me he feels more like an ambivert rather than an introvert.

At IFFA in Frankfurt, the Multivac Group will showcase three concepts developed specifically for the meat processing industry using sustainable films from Südpack. At booth A41 in Hall 12.1, industry professionals can experience firsthand how material-efficient, recyclable mono-structures can be processed on thermoforming packaging machines, tray sealers, and flowpackers – delivering the same high performance and reliability as conventional composite materials.

PP, PE, and PET are among the preferred polymers used in food packaging to meet the strict requirements for recyclability and material efficiency. However, due to their specific properties, these material structures are more challenging to process than conventional composites. Sustainable packaging for raw ham slices

Among the highlights at the Multivac stand will be a high-performance slicing line for raw ham products. It will process Südpack’s new Peel PET floatable film as the peelable lidding film for thermoforming and modified-atmosphere packaging – offering a sustainable alternative. When packaging minute steaks in mono-PP trays on the TX 620 tray sealer – part of a high-performance meat portioning line – a PP-based lidding film from SÜDPACK’s Pure-Line ensures that the entire packaging concept is classified as recyclable and can be fed into existing recycling streams. Weighing just 60 μm, the film reduces overall packaging weight while still offering maximum stability. Its peelability also delivers added convenience for consumers.

Sustainable packaging for ground meat

Once viewed critically, now widely accepted – ‘ground meat in a pouch’ – the lightweight pouch packaging for fresh ground meat. Multivac will showcase this extremely material-efficient concept on a high-performance ground meat packaging line featuring the W 510 flowpacker, which will also process PP-based flow pack films from Südpack’s bestselling Pure-Line family – engineered for efficient processing at high output rates.
