Fantasycon 2024
I love Fantasycon. It’s an amazing experience, full of friendly faces and like minded people where I go to recharge my writer battery. I haven’t written much in the last year. Firstly, work has been kicking my arse and secondly, I’ve been editing The Original’s Rage (out 15th November! Preorders available here). After a weekend of discussing writing and drinking far too much alcohol, I’m ready…

AuthorCon V PRELIMINARY Programming
What follows is the PRELIMINARY Programming Schedule for AuthorCon V (a Scares That Care charity event), which you can purchase tickets to and learn more about here.
Jonathan Janz and myself have worked very hard to accommodate everyone who requested to be inluded in programming and have cross-checked this schedule 507 times. HOWEVER… mistakes will invariably creep in. Which is why this is the PRELIMINARY schedule.
All participants should read over this carefully. If you asked for a panel or reading, you should be included. In most, but not all, cases, you may have multiple programming slots. Everyone should have at least one, however.
If you see that Janz and I have double-booked you (say a reading and a panel with overlapping times) or if you were somehow left off the list even after filling out a programming survey, or if you somehow ended up doing something you have no desire to do, you have until 11:59pm on Monday, May 17th to let me know. The only acceptable way to let me know is to send an email to briankeene @ live dot com and put AUTHORCON V in the Subject Heading. If you send me a Direct Message via social media or a text message or a carrier pigeon, they will be ignored.
— Brian Keene

Silly Game Time: Are you a fan of the mystery/detective genre? If so, what's a story of that genre (movie, show, book, game, etc.) you really like, and why?
It could be a more dramatic one, a more comedic one, a cross-genre one (fantasy or sci-fi or romance or western, etc.) so long as the main focus of the plot is the mystery to unravel!
Theres a book that's probably not too well known called Braineater Jones by Stephen Kozeniewski about a man who wakes up as a zombie with no memory of his life and tries to solve his own murder. It's set in the 1920s America but in a world where zombifying is a fairly common occurrence, so there are communities of self aware zombies getting by in the cities, having to drink liquor on the regular to keep their brains 'pickled', if their mind goes they become the typical shuffling ravenous corpse. The book's a bit silly overall but I enjoyed it.

Book Review: The Thing Under Your Bed by Stephen Kozeniewski
There’s something under your bed. It hates you. It wants to devour you and everyone you love. Dad’s at work. Mom’s dead drunk and no help whatsoever. Maybe your stuffed rabbit can help, since he seems to be alive and talking now. Then again, maybe that just means you’ve finally gone around the bend. Whatever plan you come up with to survive the night, though, you’d better not let so much as a…

A lot of people seem to genuinely believe you can intuit someone’s feelings – some even say soul - from their eyes. The truth is that’s all horseshit. Eyes don’t smile. They don’t laugh. They don’t cry - well they do, but you can tell when they’re crying because salty liquid is pouring from them.
The truth is that eyes are just white and black and a little bit of color. Whatever you see in them is as meaningful as looking at the stars and seeing ancient gods fucking one another, or looking at planetscapes and imagining a face or a skull. Eyes are empty, but they reflect the human desire to anthropomorphize every fucking thing.

Opinione: The Hematophages, di Stephen Kozeniewski

Nemmeno come mai esistano solo donne.
