i know aai2 is a fan favorite but i’m ngl im on the second to last case and im still just Not buying it. mostly because they keep trying to force this theme of “oooohhh is edgeworth gonna leave being a prosecutor to become a defense attorney with his dad’s colleague ?? he’s already in hot water at the prosecutor’s office! what’s gonna happen next!” fucking nothing dawg. because you can’t make a character where most of their personality is learning to expose truths through prosecuting rather than defending and learning to make good with the hand that you’re dealt and then try to convince me that something would ever change that. like no i don’t believe edgeworth would ever become a defense attorney he literally underwent a massive ego death just to figure out you shouldn’t lie in court

there’s just. no suspense in this overarching plot because i already know what the outcome will be. you can see it from a mile away just based on how the character is structured. so like why should i CARE

Any ideas on how to get back into reading again? I used to read every day for hours, getting through multiple books in one sitting, and losing myself in the pages was a huge part of my life.

It's been an emotional year, a lot has happened, and as a result I've been feeling really burnt out. I don't have the motivation to read anymore, and whenever I try I get really uncomfortable.

Basically, I'd love to hear what you think. Any advice? :)

hi :) thank you for your patience with this ask - i'm finally off work and wanted to answer these asks with the care they deserve!

i just wanted to say i feel u very much - reading used to be a huge part of my life when i was younger too, and the feeling of getting lost in a book for hours is unlike anything else!

i took a bit of a break from reading for a few years a while back. i picked it back up during the pandemic - and while i feel like i read much more than i used to, i think my relationship to it has changed permanently. and that's okay!

it's very rare that i can get lost in a book for hours, because i usually don't have that kind of empty time available to me anymore - i think what helps me is just acknowledging that and the fact that my enjoyment of reading is not worse, it's just different.

on the motivation to read, and being burnt out - i feel you very much - it's been a difficult year, i think, for a lot of folks!! there were certainly months where i barely read anything. i think in those days i often fell into a pattern of thinking, 'i'm not equipped to read something at my full self right now, so i won't,' but that's tricky, because we're rarely at 100%.

for me now i think it's more about continuing a small habit of reading. i accept that the discomfort with not feeling like i'm able to fully 'enjoy' an activity comes from a sort of false expectation that the only way i can enjoy something is if my life is going perfectly at the moment - it never is. i also think it's very human to think this way. and often the only way is to sit in that discomfort until you and ur mind and ur body start to gradually realize that it's okay. so the habit helps - reading where you can, before bed, in line at the coffee shop, on your daily commute, when you're avoiding your other work, it all counts. who's to say that you can't continue a conversation with a friend over a series of days, weeks, months? the discomfort will ebb and flow, and sometimes it won't go away at all, which is part of the whole thing, and always will be.

Yay, Franziska! I love that she has such a large role in the Investigations games. It really helps her more subtle development, especially being around people she actually cares about (Miles) and is more open towards than what we see of her in the main series. I like that she kept her "perfect in every way like a von Karma" creed but pursues it in her own way independent from her father and independent from Miles even though she also fights for the truth now rather than just to win. That way she stands out as her own character and isn't just a copy of him and his arc. I especially love how well this gets shown through their interactions, they have such a great dynamic!
