On the morning of 13 December 1941, British Commonwealth forces in northern Malaya were reeling from the ferocity of the Japanese invasion that had been launched less than a week earlier.The harbour on Penang Island, off Malaya's west coast, had been heavily attacked in previous days,so at 0600 hrs the first three of sixteen Buffaloes from No 453 Sqn Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF)left Ipoh for Butterworth as reinforcements for the hard pressed fighters that were trying to defend the area. Flying AN185/TD-V, Flt Lt Doug Vanderfield led Sgts Bill Collyer and Mal Read ahead of the rest of the unit. No sooner had they landed at Butterworth than they were ordered off to intercept another raid on Penang. Some 18 Ki-48 'Lily' twin-engined bombers of the Japanese Army Air Force's 75th and 90th Sentais had been sent to attack the town, these machines being identified as 'Mitsubishis' by British soldiers. Just prior to the Ki-48s arriving overhead Penang, three Ki-51 'Somas' (reported as 'Stukas') of the 59th Sentai began attacking shipping in the nearby harbour.The Buffaloes immediately took off again, climbing up into cloud cover before diving on the intruders. Following his leader,Bill Collyer recounted;'

Vanderfield was having problems with his undercarriage. His wheels were still down. Read and I were in line astern. At about 7000 ft Vanderfield led an attack on a"Betty". The port engine caught fire and the aircraft dived into the sea. No one bailed out.'

Collyer had just described future Buffalo ace Vanderfield's first victory against the Axis powers .The latter also recalled the action;

'We immediately took off and intercepted three Japanese bombers. We attacked these bombers, and five or six dive-bombers then came out of the clouds and attacked us. We let them have the works and definitely shot down two in the first attack. A sergeant pilot in my flight fired on a dive-bomber that was trying to sit on my tail, and it rolled over and disappeared. Another went out to sea in along dive.'

Collyer and Read were also successful, the pair sharing in the destruction of a Ki-51, whilst the latter was also credited with two more 'Sonias' destroyed. By now short of fuel, the Buffaloes had to land almost immediately. Ground observers reported that three enemy aircraft had indeed come down, whilst a fourth had staggered away trailing black smoke. With Butterworth under attack, Vanderfield headed directly back to Ipoh. His two wingmen landed briefly at Butterworth, however, before heading back to Ipoh as well. After landing, Doug Vanderfield was credited with two of the twin-engined bombers and one dive bomber destroyed, thus setting him on the path to 'acedom'. He achieved this accolade on 17 January 1942,becoming one of only four Allied pilots to attain this highly coveted status whilst flying the Buffalo. More remarkably, he had achieved his first three victories with his aircraft's undercarriage stuck down!

amy and rory get it constantly - rory dying in angels take manhattan in that apartment building, in the broken tardis hallways when amy thinks rory spent his whole life waiting for her. amy waiting 36 years for the doctor in that parallel timestream. the girl who waits - the inherent tragedy of waiting for a time traveller. rory spending 2000 years as a plastic centaurion. he can only half remember it but it was very real while he was living it. the pandorica. eleven spending 200 years avoiding his own death. river knowing that every time she sees the doctor he may know her less and less.

clara lives and dies thousands of times. she sees the doctor live and age nine hundred years and then regenerate over the course of one evening. she is ripped from death to discover the doctor spent four and half billion years, an incomprehensibly long time, trapped in a loop in order to get her back, and he doesn't remember that but it happened. ashildr lives so long she forgets who ashildr is. bill waits ten years for the doctor to come back, watches him spend weeks raising his eyebrow, only for him to miss her by two hours. yaz waits ten months for the doctor not knowing where she is, and jack spends nineteen years trying to get into a jail cell beside her to break her out. jack harkness lives for billions of years too. he is changed in every way possible and becomes somewhat of a lonely god himself. he gets stranded in the past and has no choice but to keep living it, hoping he'll see the doctor again

we see sarah jane, mel, ace, teagen, who spent decades thinking they would never see teh doctor again - thinking they were abandoned, or in sarah janes case, that they never even got to say goodbye. by the time the doctor sees donna again, its been around a thousand years for him. fifteen years where she didn't remember and a thousand years where he very much did.

I’m just about to turn 65. I’ve been employed as an airline pilot for 36 years. I’m reasonably intelligent, but admittedly far from a wunderkind, and with no offers to work for the JPL or NASA. Pretty much an average guy who’s outstanding at being humble. At at age 64, I had to learn how to fly the most complex and advanced airliner currently in service, the Airbus A350. I had flown the relatively simplistic Boeing 767 for the past 25 years, and had never flown an Airbus, which is completely different in almost every way from a Boeing. I was the oldest person to attempt going through the Delta’s A350 Initial Qualification training program. I was warned that even much younger pilots were finding the training to be extremely challenging, and that because of my age, success might not be an option. It was an extremely complex airplane. The training manual is literally 7000 pages long. Countless Training videos, 6 weeks of simulators, extremely difficult electronic and oral exams. “It can’t be done, old guy”, many said.

BULLSHIT! I went through the training and actually had an easy time of it. It was no more challenging than when I went through MD-11 training in 1991, at age 34, even though the A350 was a much more difficult training program. I had no decline in my learning ability in 30 years, and aced the very challenging program without any trouble. If I can maintain my ability to easily learn complex tasks into my mid-60’s, hell, anyone can.

To answer the question: For some it might be age 30, or 40, or 50, etc, etc. However, everyone is different. Some people are still extremely lucid and able to learn well into their 90’s. Don’t assume. Don’t count yourself out at any age. Don’t be prejudiced against older people and sell them short, because many of them are still as sharp or even sharper than you. Treat all people well, especially older people, because in the blink of an eye you’re going to be one of them, and you’re going to love it when someone treats YOU with dignity and a little bit of respect.

9. Does your Tav have any escalating conflicts with one of the other companions, like Lae’zel and Shadowheart’s knife-fight?

I want to say no. Evie is keeping mostly towards the background, especially in the first act and doesn't want to cause waves.

Although, I do think she'd have plenty of background bickering with Astarion. Also Gale would start to grow more and more frustrated with her lack of understanding of her own magic outside of the fact it works. I would want part of her quest to touch on the fact that she can't read.

Story

2. How do they advise the player character on Raphael?

Evie: "The devil you do or the devil you don't". The Hells probably had a field day when that line was first spoken. I suppose they were all rather proud of themselves.

Evie: Perhaps I'm being a bit obvious, but maybe we shouldn't trust a literal devil. He compared himself to a literal cat trapping a mouse. Not exactly subtext is it.

Evie: I'm not saying his power isn't real. I have no doubt he can do exactly what he said, but that gives us all the more reason not to trust him. We know he has an ace up his sleeve, best not play at all.

3. How do they react to Astarion biting the Player Character?

Evie: A vampire? Well, I supposed I should have seen that coming. There's pale and then there's...whatever Astarion has going on.

Evie: You let him bite you? Did it...did it hurt? I mean, of course it hurt, but you know, everybody has their preferences.

11. What do they say if the PC tries to force them to go up on stage with Dribbles the Clown?

Evie: Believe it or not there are certain rules I follow when it comes to performances. Number one, never work with clowns.

Evie: I will eviscerate you in fiction when this is all over.

13. How do they react to the PC either allowing Astarion to ascend or convincing him to spare the 7000 spawn?

Allowing Astarion to Ascend:

Evie: All those people...you-- helped him kill 7000 people? For what? For power? For protection? I understand being afraid. Trust me, I do. But to lead to this? How are you not terrified?

Convincing Him to Spare the 7000 Spawn:

Evie: He'll never believe me if I said this, but what he did was brave. Denying himself that power, risking never being able to see the sun, all for the chance at real freedom? That takes courage. I hope he comes to understand that someday.

17. If romanced, how do they react to the Dark Urge trying to kill them in Act 2?

Evie: I'm up love, promise. I just need to... *eyes open wider and she sits up* Are you alright? Has something happened? You don't look well.

Evie: Protect me from what? Start at the beginning.

Evie: Alright that's...bad. I can safely say that is very bad. Truth be told I rather like living. Why didn't you tell me sooner? I know I'm not the best at understanding curses or compulsions or whatever this is, but I could have helped. I'm here for you, you must know that by now.

*Durge knocks out and wake up tied up*

Evie: Easy now love. It's alright. Nothing is going to hurt you, I promise.

Evie: I'll try not to take that personally. I know you're in there, just hold tight. I'm not leaving.

Evie: This looks like it's hurting you more than me. Don't lose focus now. I'm right here.

*night passes sick and sweating, but bloodlessly*

Evie: Good to see you back to yourself, can't say I'll miss that feral look in your eye. Now will you please tell me what's going on?

Also I read up a little bit more about omnic lore and it seems the basics are:

Mina Liao essentially created the brand of robots we know as omnics. She is the direct creator of Aurora, Athena, and later Echo. Aurora was the first sentient omnic, and the first omnic to achieve legal personhood. Then the omnic crisis happened. The god ai Anubis (supercomputer ai gone rogue) controlled nonsentient omnic drones to fight humanity and aimed to eradicate humans. Anubis lost the war, and was contained. During sometime after the omnic crisis, Aurora sacrificed herself in hopes of giving sentience to other omnics, in an event called "The Awakening," and it was successful. It seems this is where the Iris was born, as golden light had flashed from her body during the event. (It seems the Iris may be some kind of god ai harnessing light tech, an 'ascension' of Aurora's intelligence? Zenyatta's extra arms seems very similar to the light tech Lifeweaver and Symmetra use.) The omnics connected through the Iris is this "finite generation" of omnics Ramattra refers to, and wishes to protect. In reality, any omnic's body can be rebuilt, but no new sentient life/mind can be created. This means sentient omnics connected to the Iris are gone for good when killed. No amount of replacement parts can bring back that unique sentience/life. Each omnic is apparently able to feel the "loss" of a fellow sentient omnic life, and this kind of intelligence may be similar to colonial organisms like Siphonophores or super organisms like Ant colonies. The Iris seems to be an intelligence blurred between a "colony" and an "individual" organism. A hivemind that nests itself in sentient omnics, if you will. It seems Sentient Omnics default to "base programming" when under duress. Bastion has PTSD that flashes him into default war programming, and Ramatta's grief and trauma pushed him into his R-7000's base programming of commanding drones into war. We can even see how Orisa had changed personality over time, even though she is not a part of the Iris-sentience, so it seems life experiences shape the intelligences of omnics compared to a "default" programming they all have. Echo is very much still in this "default" base programming, she acts very similar to Orisa when she was new to the world. It seems most sentient omnics are aro-ace, with some sentient omnics either being romantic or open to romantic relations, as seen with omnic-human couples. It also seems sentient omnics have no concept of gender, with omnics picking up gender identities from humans/pre-sentience experiences of the roles they used to play in human culture. Echo is an exception, for she was made with Mina Liao's visage, and seems to embrace that. "Omnic" is just a brand of robot, so there are various omnics that are not "sentient" in the same way Iris-connected omnics are. Wrecking ball's robot, Torbjörn's turrets, Athena, and Orisa are all examples of omnics that are not a part of the Iris-sentience. Lastly, there are some parts of omnic culture that are unique. Lots of clothing for omnics seems to be about self expression and personal sentimentality, avoiding areas like shoulder joints for easier movement. From Ramattra's story it seems physical contact, like a comforting hand on the shoulder, is inherently human, so omnics presumably do not touch each other normally. It also seems omnic emotions are hard for humans to understand, and human figurative ways of speech ("the apple doesn't fall far from the tree", etc) are hard for omnics to understand (Zenyatta still struggles with this sometimes). Some omnics are not capable of understanding human humor. From one of the comics it's shown that it is funerary custom for omnics to graft a part of a lost friend to themselves in memory, like welding bits of metal to themselves, or attaching wires. This may very well be what Ramattra's "hair" is--sections of spinal cable from other Ravagers, as the only way Ramattra can repair himself to use parts from scrapped R-7000 kin. A notable red cord may very well belong to Lanet, a colleague and friend he lost during the London uprising.

so i have been doing internship for.. a month! and i've been commuting with the local commuter train for an entire month, lets talk about it! because im bored (im procrastinating)

and also i dont want to use twitter to ramble now because im slowly moving away from it

the only line i use is the bogor red line that belongs to the jakarta metropolitan area (jabodetabek) commuter line

the cool thing about this commuter line is they only use ex-jr trains so you can experience japan from the 80s with this line!

this is the common trainset you will see on all lines, including the red line

jr205s! you can see this pretty much everywhere with over 700+ unit of it thats still running around, the trains that we have here are manufactured around 1986 to 1991 (you can tell by the train codes on the lower side of each trains)

there are some differences between the older and newer one notably the door window is much larger on the later model, but the ride quality is not any different and some of the newer trains has different kind of pantograph but i do not know whats the difference is between the two

(notice how the windows on the door has different size, left is the older one and right is the newer one)

the only thing i hate about the 205s is the weird ac positioning, the central ac position only exist near the doors and the other ac is on the side and it also only exist in the middle of the train, and also its weaker so it gets a bit warm very quickly during rush hour

these trains are very reliable and nothing goes wrong, its comfortable and its just fine, there are also a marchen variant of 205s

next up, it's tokyo metro 6000 & 7000!

these are by far my favourite train in the line, it look very modern and overall very sick and the interior is also pretty sick too

the tm6000s are some of the oldest trains thats still in operation in the line going back as far as 1971, despite that, it's still very comfortable, although the interior is slightly yellowed i honestly kinda like it, give that retro feel and whatnot

there are no major downsides for this train based on my experience except the fact that the door usually has to be closed multiple times idk whats up with that

the best thing about tm6000s is that the ac is everywhere regardless of where you are so it is the coldest train in the line, its very nice during rush hour but when its empty it feels like you are in the arctic, freezing away..

there are multiple variant, by multiple i meant only two, the 6000 and 7000, the difference? idk that little window on the front, other than that i couldnt tell

same with the 205s some later model of tm6000/7000 has larger windows and a little screen on top of the door, but nothing really changes in term of ride quality its as comfortable a commuter train can be

as far as i know, 8 sets are remaining for this train as they are slowly retired from the service which is kind of a shame because they look really cool

despite looking really cool this train has a very mediocre ride quality for me, like its fine but holy shit it gets hot, i havent really observed too much as to why its so hot because i only ride on this train twice

one of the most distinct feature of this train is the windows also have vertical bar, why? not sure! but they look interesting thats for sure

overall? its a unique experience because its a rare train but its not very comfortable especially during rush hours

now the most rare train in the entire jakarta metropolitan area commuter line

this train only has, one (1) set remaining that is still on operation, despite looking very old this train is newer than the entire tm6000 trains with this one is made at 1989

one of the thing that stands out than the rest is how different the interior is compared to the other, instead of plastic trims the interior is mostly dominated with steel bars, no plastic to be seen and also the other thing that stands out is the WIDE gangway

there used to be other set that has a diesel generator for its electricity but unfortunately that train is retired just months before i have internship, kinda unfortunate but oh well

i should mention with the last two trains being retired they are soon getting replaced as soon as 2025 by locally made inka trains and chinese crrc trains

this one is the locally made one, kinda cool imo

the reason why i wrote all of this? idk its just my observation on the trains that exist in the line and i feel like i need to write these down, is anyone gonna read all of this? hell no
