Look, I know basically everyone thinks they have the best partner. But consider:
Over the last three days my partner has let me measure zer close to two dozen times, use zer as a mannequin another dozen, didn't question when I made a model of zer torso out of plasticine, nor that I've been in obsessive hyperfixation to the exclusion of basically all other activities the whole time.

#knitting#no it's not a real pattern but I can't write one that makes sense because I have no freaking clue what any of that means#How do you make things that aren't basic rectangles#Why has every knitter I've asked for help just said 'patterns are easy; you just have to know how to read them' & then refused to teach me#Where do I even find a goat to sacrifice#How do I join the pattern cult#I am so confused#I've been knitting for almost a decade but I can only make scarves and potholders#I learned one (1) stitch by watching a YouTube video and none of my friends or family knit so I have no IRL resources#And nobody I meet seems to want to take the time to explain the rest to me#I taught myself to sew through trial and error but that doesn't really work with knitting because error is pretty much just... Unraveling?#Anyway sorry for the tag rant I'm just frustrated that I see pretty things I want to make but the instructions are in an alien language#And the gap between 'absolute novice' and 'intermediate' seems to be about 20 years of experience and formal instruction

HEY guess who's being completely normal about episode 7 :)
anyway it sure ain't me, so I made myself a baby Malleus! I used the single-headed version of Choly Knight's hydra pattern (link will be in replies ↓↓↓) as a base, and just messed with some of the pieces to make him more Mall-y. including sewing all those little claw pieces, then pinning them on and realizing I actually liked him better without them...oh well. to heck with accuracy, I want stubby little dragon legs!
unfortunately, he doesn't photograph very well, especially his forehead scales (they're there! I promise!) (they're made of glitter HTV so they are actually SPARKLY in real life, yet apparently they come out completely invisible in photos, woe). but he is super cuddly and soft so I'm happy with him! just as in canon, he is a product of LOVE. :>

guy who vastly underestimated how much of a pain in the ass it would be to sew a costume that needs 12 yards of bias tape
#garak is taking forever oh my god...... it's like day 9 of spending all day working on it#I'm like sooooo close though. I just need to attach the belt and hand sew the sleeves and draw the pattern on the fabric#I convinced myself to start this project by deluding myself into thinking it would only take a few days#I've NEVER put this much effort into a project before I only ever half-ass things and/or give up in the middle#oughhh and I still have to make his prosthetics. and finish the spunnysuit. and the ka'athyra#I think. the kira cosplay is probably not going to happen for stlv this year. Me three hours ago: Yeah, I can totally do this project on a basic home machine, I don't need one of those fancy industrial jobs that are made specifically to allow you to more efficiently stitch around tight, fiddly corners. It'll be fiiiiine.

#I remembered polls exist!#I already have these patterns traced and scanned#I just have to type up instructions#...and also remember the instructions#I tend to just look at the pattern pieces and sew them together like I'm making a 3D puzzle#and that mostly works for me but I do sometimes mess up#so I really should type up the instructions for all my patterns eventually

Ah yes, we are finally back at the stage of "too many creative ideas too little time"
Which honestly I prefer to "no creative mojo at all" which was the case until a couple of weeks ago 😒
#my actual life#current and planned projects:#the lace shawl with leaf pattern. union jack socks for my friend's birthday (knitting)#cloning the breezy summer top. making a crop top from the leftover dress fabric. finally making that short cotton skirt (sewing)#i have already started the leaf shawl and the top clone#but i want to start the crop top instead 😩#which would be a bad idea because I'm confident i can finish the top i started today and then I'd have another summer garment#which is sorely needed in this weather#and the crop top i have to make a pattern for first so that's at least 4-5 hours of work until it's done#also i don't like having multiple projects started (for the same craft) it stresses me out#with the exception of my puzzle blanket which is long term and in between by nature#so on to finishing my top i guess

I have a Ko-fi!
okay so a little while ago I started building a Ko-fi so that if anyone liked my work and wanted to toss a coin my way, they could!
I also liked the idea of doing little informal thank-you doodles, so if you tip me $6 or more, i will try to do a little doodle of a character that you name (the guidelines for all this are written down on my kofi page)

Baby's first sewing project!!!
#Tuuw talks#I had to run back to the store to grab elastic I forgot to#I've wanted to sew for a long time and the last two times I started it went poorly#But this was a simpler pattern and I've learned since these so I went back and it works!!!#I don't have a machine so it's all by hand I think that made it a little messy but I'm still super proud of it#I'm going to do two more bowties and then try to make a scarf I have the cutest material for it

I need new undergarments. Which is like. My personal hell as a fat enby with sensory issues & slightly hindered mobility. Spent some time today digging through page after page of google search trying to find something &...
Look, I'm just saying. Whoever keeps deciding to list their brands as "size inclusive" & "plus size" when their largest size is a women's 14?
I think fat people should be allowed to hunt them for sport.

How to throttle myself into working on my WIP?
The mind, it is impossible to reign in
#I want to work on it but I'm not wild about this sewing machine#if I work on it I can maybe open commissions#opening commissions is a terrifying prospect and I'm procrastinating on that possibility#but I am very low on money#I also maybe want to pattern out more subtle trek looks to sell as patterns#keep getting stuck in the loop of making it legit too smh#then I'd need a business name too#and I can't get a real job because I need flexibility to help my parents#my mom gives me some money to help out but my dad taps out after about 3 hours because y'know he's dying or whatever#when that actually happens there's gonna be a lot to do... fffff#so I need to be able to help with that because no one else really can#it's gonna be cool but I also don't know what I'll do with it cause I have no prospective cons cause I'm out of money.....#in conclusion I need to make myself work on stuff but I keep falling into a hole of distraction instead#it's all very circular and nebulous#melts into oblivion

Also, I have washed, dried, and ironed the fabric I'm gonna make the girls pjs out of.
We are a Bluey household through and through. XD
But now I'm gonna try and figure out what to make for dinner and get myself ready for work. Oh, and I need to make a pattern for Dad's reversible waistcoat and find a video on how to make welt pockets (yes, when I aim, I aim high).
