So how’s ride kamens going for you as I just pulled my self together long enough to read the other half of the current main story
I've been working on catching up on the event stories since they announced the upcoming main story update! (I totally bombed the last few events...they're so fast-paced and I just didn't have time...😭)
and then of course they went and dropped THIS on us today
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(you don't understand, I LOVE Tajador and I already love the two blurry frames they've given us of non-silhouetted Kelka, I'm ready to absolutely lose my shit come the announcement/reveal(?) stream on Thursday --)

I really like that zoro and luffy's relationship is weirdly simple while still being somewhat complex. equal yet not quite but actually yeah. it's just interesting bc they've got all these ways in which they match or complement each other right? the importance of their dreams and the will/determination they chase them with, the straw hat vs wado ichimonji, their scars, their views on certain things like death or heroism and literally echoing what the other does or says even when they're not together, the whole sun/moon, god/demon bit and other parallels to outstanding or legendary characters in OP, etc. their goddamn haki too.
then there's the fact that although luffy's not one to enforce strict roles within the crew, zoro very much views the straw hats with a certain level of hierarchy he includes himself in and deliberately places himself below luffy, who won't hesitate to give him orders in certain circumstances that he trusts zoro to follow as well. but the story (via some side/background characters) does make it a point to remark how strange it all is bc zoro is crazy strong and a leader of his own right to the point he's got the haki to match, who in the past refused to join an organization like baroque works unless he got to be the boss. he's even admitted he sees no point in staying a pirate if not part of luffy's crew, and he wouldn't remain in it to begin with if luffy didn't square up to be the kind of captain zoro's willing to devote himself to. just like how luffy wouldn't have invited zoro to join his crew if it turned out he wasn't a good guy.
and luffy. the way he relies on zoro turns my brain into confetti. the almost unreal sort of trust he places in zoro all the way since shells town, the sheer confidence in zoro's strength, steadfastness and protectiveness - the kind of confidence that allows luffy not to worry when the people he cares about or their allies are with zoro, and if someone from their crew is forced to leave bc of dangerous circumstances, zoro's one of the first he can count on to bring them back or watch over the rest in the meanwhile. all of which becomes extra meaningful when you find out about luffy's backstory, how much he hates being alone or when people leave. luffy's not the type to reject help from whoever's willing to offer it and he's been saved by plenty other characters along the way, but zoro's been consistently and explicitly worrying over his safety since the early days and protecting him for about as long, as much as he's able to, and luffy just... lets him. that willing, conscious kind of vulnerability coming from the guy who's the captain and usually the strongest around is so good. so compelling. the pirate king expects and needs no less than the world's greatest swordsman and he can have him, as long as the pirate king remains worthy of it. truly one of the most fascinating relationships in this manga for me.

I wonder if Jedediah and octavius ever celebrated the 4th of July together? (also your leftover veggie dish looks like it would make Gordon Ramsay cry with joy :) )
They probably, most definitely did celebrate together I think

Featuring my failed attempt at drawing fireworks 🎆

If Gordon Ramsey were to see that dish he'd cry in general I think, given the fact that I forgot to put enough salt :')

Missy, darling, can you be a little bit more precise? Which abandonment are you referring to?
The last one when you saved him and he left you on Gallifrey with Rassilon? The Cheetah planet? In the fire on Sarn? With pissed off Xeraphin? The Death Zone, twice? Is it the Castrovalva?? With Axos? THE ACADEMY, MAYBE???

still thinking about choicale from time to time... the au that sometimes grabs hold of my head is one where cale dies while fighting the hunters and, instead of actually being dead, he regresses all the way to the first day he woke up as cale henituse. turns out the god of death has put this condition on him when he switched the souls, because he didn't expected krs!cale to be this... effective. he knew the guy could do this, but to not die at least once...? it made he even forget about it.
then, since he died, the others... don't react all that well. berserk mode on. choi han decides to make a deal with the god of death again, since he can use all his life span, which in turn would make the other dragons (still not so sure with it will be only raon and eruhaben or if mila, dodori and rasheel will do it too) make a deal with the god too. then everyone would go back to the past while offering the rest of their life span, probably tying it with cale's life span or something.
cale would be unaware of all of this until he meets choi han and is greeted with a hug instead of a suspicious stare. and if raon gets to them earlier than he should and with company, who is cale to complain?

There is no doubt that Bones kind of fumbled actually getting Booth and Brennan together, but y'know, six seasons and over 100 episodes of them being together and in love, buying a house, having a baby, getting married, having another baby, and being all cute and domestic goes a long way in making up for it

I've just been having Undertale Yellow thoughts and I'm just filled with specific angst thoughts on the endings. Because no matter what
Clover is alone.
Clover either drags their dying body to a wall to die with dignity, they're betrayed and killed by someone they thought was their friend after he killed Clover's chance to have a family, or they leave the underground empty and unable to connect to others (remember, LOVE means distancing yourself to more easily hurt others).
Sure, in neutral and pacifist, they briefly travel with Martlet and sometimes Ceroba, but they're either short lived or under false pretenses. Martlet tries so hard but ultimately does little to protect Clover, and Ceroba initially just tries to lead Clover like a lamb to slaughter. She does connect with them a little during the journey, but I feel like it's overshadowed by her plan to kill Clover. Clover at the end of a hard fight and betrayal is faced with an alcoholic widow begging them to kill her. That's rough.
I feel like in the pacifist ending, Clover's main reason to giving up their soul isn't because they really love the monsters, they're just extremely empathetic and care about the injustice dealt to monsters as a whole. The lines in the whiteout don't call to feelings of friendship or camaraderie that Clover experienced, but of how the monsters are suffering trapped underground, and they need Clover's soul to escape.
Frisk gets to end the Pacifist story with a loving family and all of monsterkind knowing their name. Clover's story ends in a tragedy as they can't connect any further with these people who might be the first in their life to care, and no one else would know as four monsters hold a funeral in private.
And ultimately how much does Clover's actions matter? Either they sacrifice themselves, or they have to kill everyone else to survive. There is no option between because Flowey is the arbiter of what happens and no neutral run is satisfying to him. He terrorizes Clover for funsies and then starts everything over again. Clover only gets the pacifist ending because of a whim from Flowey.
No matter what path is taken, Clover's story is ultimately a tragedy. They got to have some fun as a cowpoke, but it seems their story took more after The Great Silence than most other western media.

"My, my. What's a little girl like you doing in a place like this, hm?"
Estelle hugs the little bear closer to her chest. Her father had told her to stay in the office, but she was taking so long, and it was starting to get lonely...
She lifts her eyes up from the ground to look at the man crouched before her. He has long, dark hair that reminds her of her father's with how soft it looks. He has a polite smile on his face, but it doesn't reach his eyes. And his eyes—something about them made her nervous.
"I'm here with my father," she answers quietly, squeezing her toy. "I was supposed to stay in the office, but..."
The man clicks his tongue. "Tsk. Poor little thing, did your father leave you behind?"
Estelle bites her lip. Should she answer him? Father always told her not to speak with strangers, but it's been so long, and she wants to go home. She knows she'd begged her father to let her tag along, but now, all she wants to do is go home to her mother and Noé.
So she nods, looking back down at the ground. The man sighs, and rises back to his full height. He's tall, towering over her, and the way the lights backlight his form makes Estelle reflexively take a step back. He looks down at her down the bridge of his nose, the silver rim of his glasses glinting.
"Then how about I help you find her, hm?" he asks. "I think I know exactly who your father is."
Despite her apprehension, Estelle brightens. "Really?"
"Really," he nods. His white cloak parts, and he extends a gloved hand to her. But before he can take her smaller hand in his own, an arc of pure, blistering flame snakes around the girls feet, creating a protective, blazing wall. But around the girl, the fires cool, warm and comforting instead of threatening.
Footsteps echo like thunder down the hall, and the man tucks his hand back into his cloak, those dangerous eyes turning sharp, and a venomous grin creeping onto his face.
"We meet again, Knave," he sneers. Estelle turns, and standing behind her, expression twisted into a level of fury she's never seen before, is her father. A blood-red wing pulses over her left shoulder, flickering and shifting in the light. In her father's hand is a mean-looking red scythe, radiating a furious, hungry aura.
"Stay away from my daughter, Regrator," Arlecchino snarls, practically vibrating with rage. She keeps her eyes trained on the other Harbinger as she kneels down, and Estelle runs into her waiting arm. Pantalone watches it all with a deceptively placid smile.
"You know," he hums, "she has her eyes."
Arlecchino glares at him with enough fury to kill a normal man. But as much as she loathes the waste of breath before her, he is still a Harbinger, and Harbingers have always been far from normal.
"Do not speak of my wife," she says lowly, dangerously, cradling Estelle against her chest. Estelle tucks her head beneath her father's chin, one small hand winding tight in her father's jacket and the other clutching her bear plushie. The little thing's fur is slightly singed. Then, her father's gaze shifts from the man and to her, and her eyes soften. "Are you alright, starshine?"
Estelle nods, snuggling closer against her father's warmth. Arlecchino presses a soft kiss to her forehead, then turns back to Pantalone. She dispels her scythe, but it does not make her any less deadly. She considers, briefly, ripping the man before her to shreds; but Estelle takes priority, and she'd hate for her daughter to have to witness such violence, so she turns on her heel and walks away instead.
She will ensure the Regrator understands that her family is off limits in other ways.

what got you into dinnerware? for me, it was Ouran High School Host Club. yes. i got into dinnerware through an anime. but it got me into this world of craftsmanship, history, and design, so i'm not even embarrassed to admit it anymore.
nothin wrong with finding new interests through anime lol! I think that's wonderful
I got into it through my grandma's collection! I sorted through and organized it some years ago and the emotional high of hunting down production dates and pattern names has never left me.
Sadly that collection has long since been pared down and given to consignment stores or whatever else, but I still have a couple full sets of hers and I'm very slowly adding to it whenever I visit resale shops hehe :3

This coffee cup is part of one of those remaining sets, from the brand Mikasa in the pattern Just Flowers.
A fun fact for u: Mikasa is a relatively modern name in the porcelain trade, being established in 1948. The oldest company in my collection is Spode! Established in 1770, they were a hugely influential part of early European porcelain production and the transition from soft-paste to hard-paste formulas. Also, they're still in business today! 2020 was their 250th anniversary.

ok so I took a break in which (with permission) @captainofthetidesbreath informed me this interlude is not more than an episode long; I have also obtained food of many sorts and mixers so I'm going to start watching again with renewed purpose and hopefully less salt because ngl I was about to say "Lolth, it's literally ok and indeed kind of great if you kill Ted"

Honestly... milgram project is fun bc you get to analyze the characters (and try to work out their "murder" + the circumstances surrounding it) AND you get to analyze the fandom as a bonus too
