May I ask about your Jason Todd idea? <3

Hm, okay so. How to lay this out sensitively since I know it might be a tad controversial...

Prefacing by saying I'm not an expert on the minutias of Jason characterization. I like him when he appears, I think the battle for the cowl/Morrison era and some parts of modern era for him are Weird and Bad, but I'm not Jason scholar (for that I'd say maybe check out @/tumblingxelian and their great video essays), I'm just trying to think of what might be an interesting step forward for him.

First, the canon facts

Jason got lobotomized and has panic disorder on steroids. By the end of Gotham War (specifically when Jason was. Flying the batplane into the asteroid. God I can't believe that's the plot) he was finding it in himself to power through said panics

In Joker: The Man Who Stopped Laughing #12, the joker gives Jason a "low dose" of joker venom, which has an ambiguous effect on Jason, allowing him to power through the fear (which joker explicitly states is still very much present, just not physically debilitating, like when Jason couldn't run over in either Catwoman #57 or #58, the one with the kid in the building) even though he'd been able to do that sans venom over in Gotham War, like I previously stated.

The effect of said joker venom seems to be lingering for now, minus the creepy grin side effect it gave Jason over in that man who stopped laughing issue, as seen in the latest batman issue (number is escaping me rn, #147??). He still has the stutter which is a shorthand for fear, he's drawn with fearful expressions by Jorge Jimenez, but he says that he's "working through it" thanks to the chemicals

This is both super interesting and kind of maddening as it doesn't completely remove the consequences of what happened in Gotham War, but is trying to sweep them under the rug and get back to business as usual. I, however, propose making said consequences front and center like a fashionable urn on a mantle piece:

Since it's never stated how exactly the joker venom works, and I think the current answer is "it works how the story needs it to" I've decided that because it's a low dose, it eventually wears off. And when it wears off, Jason's back to square one in terms of mental state. Ergo, if Jason doesn't want to live the rest of his life as quaking shivering husk of his former self...he's going to need more.

So, Jason self medicates for a condition given to him by the father he has endlessly complicated feelings towards with a cure invented by a man who represents everything he hates in the world who once tried to take everything from him.

Which, insert poetic cinema gif here, I'm quite proud of myself for that one.

Anyway, there's a lot of directions you could take this. Personally I think it'd be interesting to explore Jason trying to get back into the drug trade like he did in UTRH (FULL TRANSPARENCY I HAVEN'T READ THE FULL COMIC, I KNOW BROADSTROKES BUT IM NOT GONNA TRY AND MAKE PARALLELS) as he tries to use the resources (production plants and other drug runners who can hook him up with samples of joker toxin/similar stuff you can probably find around Gotham) to manufacture his own cure that means never having to go back to the joker again. Maybe he ambushes a joker toxin chemical production plant to get his own supply, and then Jason uses this as his foothold back into that world.

This isn't necessarily me saying we should regress Jason alll the way back to UTRH, that was before his anti-hero era and I'm not willing to fully shoot him back into the past. I just think that's not how you tell good stories in a medium like comics. But it'd inherently be a little different just bc he's doing it for different, slightly more self motivated (depending on your take on villain Jason) reasons and the people around him would have a different reaction to it.

Anyway, all sorts of problems can arise! Depending on how you wanna characterize Jason (wayward son who longs to be back in the fold or black sheep who doesn't play by daddy's rules, etc) he can either a) try and hide this criminal enterprise from his giant family full of nosy detectives (good idea there jay) OR do it out in the open, trying to justify himself but still putting himself on the opposite side of the family again (not the law bc that boy hasn't been on the 'right' side of it since he died)

There's also the fact that Jason now needs to take something 24/7 in order to live his life. He essentially can't be without it, he's dependent on it, in fact he'd get sick without it despite any adverse effects it may have on him (which are guaranteed, I mean. No clinical trials)

I imagine it'd be easy to become addicted to it in some way.

And uh. This is the part where it works slightly better as a fanfic pitch than an actual comic pitch. Because as much as I think it'd be such an interesting beat for Jason's character considering his fraught history with addiction and drugs (looks away from that one urban legends story where he suggests terrorising addicts to get to the suppliers and bruce lectures him. The easiest way to make Mr "we don't sell drugs to children" sympathetic and you beefed it)

I also fully recognise that this is a sensitive topic that DC doesn't have the best track record with (although addicts aren't a monolith and feel a number of ways about addictions portrayals in comics) and that there's probably some pitfalls inherent in the premise, namely bc of Jason's background as an impoverished kid and his grey morality, and how those play into stereotypes of addicts. Addiction is already such a misunderstood and stigmatized condition that I imagine playing with it with an antihero might be enough to turn some people off. Addiction is not a moral failing and I'd hate to write it as a moral failing of Jason akin to his willingness to kill, etc.

But with all that said, I think that stereotypes are primarily harmful because of their shallowness. They inhibit understanding of groups labeled "other" by presenting them in simplistic ways that don't portray richness or complexity. And I think a truly good red hood comic could give both sympathy and complexity to Jason, even as an addict. If anything, Jason is a popular character (mostly) and there could be something nice about seeing a main character go through what you're going through, gritty details and all. YMMV (can we bring that back btw?) and it depends on execution. There's a lot of ways it could go wrong, but seeing as it just lives as a hypothetical rn, I think there's also a lot of ways it could go. I mean, not right, it's a downer story beat for Jason but it's mostly meant to be interesting and a vehicle for more stories as Jason navigates it, ya know?

Anyway, I have a lot of spiels littered in my notes app and discord DMs that elaborate on all this (how this could work as act 1 in a broader Jason story where his little operation goes to shit and he has to hit the road (jack) and maybe do some character development for better or worse. I'm a sucker and wanna say better- not squeaky clean better but. Yknow, finding himself to an extent. I recognise I'm a sap and a fool tho. Or how a new outlaws team could factor into either of those eras (since I do like Jason with an outlaws team. It gives him an excuse to exercise his compelling relationships and dynamics with other characters without having to constantly tip-toe around the elephant in the room whenever he's with the batfamily all the time. He just needs a good lineup) but that's all for another time

... though without elaborating on the vision in my head it kind of just sounds like my pitch is "Jason gets addicted to his hyper-anxiety medication" BUT I SWEAR ITS MORE THAN THAT.

It's like. If Jason has struggled as a character (and this is very subjective on my part so feel free to disagree) because he has compelling relationships with all of the batfamily, but also has compelling grey morality that makes it hard to capitalize on those relationships, without the conflict always coming to "Jason stop killing!" "Nuh uh!" OR just being ignored, and the main way writers have addressed this is via reboots instead of arcs...

Then giving Jason and the bats:

real, legitimate and fresh reason for jay to be mad at Bruce (taking their relationship of love with very little understanding to it's most dramatic conclusion)

give the family a real reason to want to bring him back into the fold (feel bad about the lobotomy and it would be pretty immoral to let Jason waste away slowly and painfully because of something Bruce did)

capitalize on all the ways Jason is sympathetic (bc the addiction is a natural lead into his backstory, which is one of his most sympathetic elements)

And the ways in which he's very out of step with the bats post-resurrection (I'd be mad asf too if i came back to life just for my dad to a) not avenge me and b) LOBOTOMIZE ME meanwhile the cunt ass clown giving me my meds is just lurking out there).

Idk it's not a sophisticated pitch as of this moment but I think a real chef (writer) could cook something w/ this

In truth he is insanely jealous about everything and everyone, including his own family. He trusts his sister and mother to not pry too much into your relationship, and in fact his mother is more of an enabler for him. She is just so glad her son finally found someone he loves and cares about, so that he isn't alone anymore. How could she deny him such happiness?

Will try to get the two of you married instant. As soon as he saw you Aemond knew he had to marry you, it doesn't matter if you are highborn or not to him. Much to his mother and grandsire's displeasure of course

Once you are married of course he's gonna make you pregnant if possible. You wouldn't try to get away from him with a child on its way no? When he has endless ways of helping you with a babe, both during the pregnancy, the birth, and the years to come. Why have it the hard way when you can live a life of luxury?

Talking about a life of luxury, Aemond will give you anything you might need and more to keep you compliant. However, some things are not negotiable like for example what you wear: its either green or sapphire blue, no other clothes are tolerated for him. If you want to be more transgressive you can wear something outside of that, though the consequences...

He's so manipulative and wouldn't care to bring the situation in his favour, and would absolutely use your own emotion against you. "If you are hurt imagine how I feel" and stuff like that is often said when you two are fighting often over nothing, if not directly about Aemond's way of treating you.

You think it's unfair, Aemond thinks you don't understand how he feels. There is a war coming and he won't always be there protecting you since he will be on the battlefield. Its only fair that he fears for your safety, no? What kind of husband would he be otherwise?

I'm actually crying rn please, how do I really shift? For a fact Ik that shifting and manifestation is real. But I've been unable to shift my awareness to my Dr.. I saw your hogwarts posts and im really happy and glad that you get to experience all of that but I can't even shift to a better version of my cr let alone some fictional world??I really wanna get out of this abusive household, it's messing up with my mental peace each day, everyday waking upto fights and getting blamed for being a disappointment. I'm sorry I'm not trauma dumping but I just really wanna get out of here.

I am 10000% going to make a more detailed post about this very soon, but to answer your question right now, the best advice I can give you is to genuinely stop listening to other people and try to make shifting/a ritual before shifting, as fun as possible.

Advice is great don’t get me wrong, but after a certain point everyone is just repeating the same talking points and yapping about things that don’t work for you and your journey. Find your own groove but for now here’s what I’ll say:

1. Practice meditation as often as you can. Do it for sleep. Do it while you’re awake. Do it before school or work. Do it whenever and genuinely get in tune with who you are without a body and without a mind. You are pure consciousness and meditation is one of the best ways to internalize this.

2. Since you mentioned manifesting, practice small manifestions in your current reality because that is also considered reality shifting. Every time you decide to walk left instead of right, you’ve just shifted realities because universe is now adapting to what you have chose. If you think manifesting is your thing, build up your confidence within that AND ( best part ) try to manifest things from your better c.r, into your current reality. Start off small like maybe a cute cup from your better reality to bring into your current one or even some curtain bangs to look more like your better reality self—not only will these things build your confidence but they will also make you feel so connected to that other reality. Genuinely apply this and you’ll wake up one day and realize something so small like a cup, or a cute notebook from your other reality that is in your c.r means that that reality is never as far as you think it is.

3. Be mindful of the language you use. Never come back from a shifting attempt and think, “omg I didn’t shift again”, instead switch that to “damn I gotta practice waking up in that other reality instead of just sleeping there all the time” does that make sense? You realistically could’ve shifted while you slept, but because you were sleeping, you wouldn’t have noticed. HELLO! It makes sense guys.

That’s all I can say right now but definitely ask me anything else, I’d love to help in any way I can and I can guarantee you will shift to that reality ( even if you haven’t already ) because you shift every single day and this reality is no different than choosing pizza instead of burgers for dinner LOL.

Hey ya all just a quick post after being gone for a while again. Okay i know this sounds weird but i got out of the transformers fandom again😭🧡

And by everything i mean friends i had back in dorms on high school. I mean of course i get it, we all live in different parts of our country and that's why we don't see each other so often. I get it we don't have as much time as we used to anymore when we all have a job but man i am so desperate to see them and i miss them so much we were such a trio back in the school. But i would also love to get to know more new people. The job i currently have is full of old ladies and middle aged moms (no disrespect ofc they're very sweet) BUT i met a girl my age there, her name is Rebeka and today we were on our first hang out in the city and it was quite refreshing to say the least. She is very sweet, sometimes watches anime but i have no idea why i'm so scared to let her get too close to me. Like i would LOVE to hang out with her more but at the same time i'm scared to let her get to know me.. I hate when my brain just shuts people out when they get too close.

ok. Here’s a screwball idea. I don’t care if you don’t do it or even ask, but it’s here.

This thing is a Venus figurine. Many people tie them to being symbols of fertility due to their exaggerated, chubby proportions, and a lack of a face (kinda looks like they’re wearing vases). Because these things were made like in the Upper Palaeolithic era, and since society was a lot different back then (clearly), many people speculate that they could represent healthy or fertile women, goddesses, or simply self-portraits by their own makers.

from the way I see it, a Venus figurine represents a healthy woman very much capable of loving and having kids regardless of her appearance (lack of facial features), so the idea is simplified to this:

Fucking a life-sized Venus figurine who only wants to love, and be loved.

i haven't seen anyone talk about this happening to john (might've just missed it tbf) and in a way i get it, because y'know gale is 'visually' more likely to be a target of things like that and we don't see what he goes through at the camp before john gets there, but i'm also surprised that i haven't seen more posts talking about it the other way around because i mean john literally comes into camp with a reputation, we see it right off the bat when the interrogator basically calls him on being a man whore lol.

i can see guards (hypocritically, bc they'll turn around and hurl slurs in the next breath) making offhand comments and passes at him, "nothing that i can't handle" when one of the others catches it happening one day, and the way john is so nonchalant about it makes them wonder how often it happens.

but one day a guard doesn't like the way he mouths off at them when they say something gross to john, and it results in john being shoved to the ground with the guard atop his back in a quiet corner of the camp, and he doesn't even hear half of what's being said because his ears start ringing and all he can remember is the feeling of the cold cobble street beneath his face and the shouts of the riot around him.

vaguely registers the guard moving to feel him up, his skin crawling, bile rising in his throat, but it only takes a few seconds before someone else is approaching and the guard jumps up so as to not cause suspicion. john drags himself back to his feet in a daze, stumbling away in the general direction of his block with his head buzzing, flinches hard when he feels a hand on his arm but realizes it's just brady looking at him with concern, brady who'd caught the guard on top of him.

gale looks up from his bunk when the door opens and he sees brady ushering john in, watches brady sag with relief when he sees gale's there, and gale only has to glance at john to know something's happened, rolls out of his bunk immediately and looks at brady in alarm. he sees red when brady tells him how he'd found john, but john is staring into a corner of the room and he knows anger isn't what he needs right now, so he swallows it down, moves to stand in front of john instead as brady leaves the room, reaching up to cup his face in his hands.

john's eyes move to look at him, but he's not really looking at him, until gale murmurs a "hey, you're okay", brushing his thumbs over john's cheekbones, and then he watches john crumble and his heart sinks. and maybe any other day, john wouldn't break like that, but gale knows he's already had a hell of a week and whatever went down must have been the final nail in the coffin because as soon as he's led john to the closest bunk, john's collapsing into his arms and he can feel hot tears against his neck and gale feels sick and has to keep swallowing to fight his own tears back.

he can feel how tense john is in his arms, like he's still trying to hold back from really showing his emotions even now, and gale pets his hair, assures him it's okay, "you don't have to hide from me, bucky." and his heart shatters when he starts getting whispered apologies through hiccuped sobs where john's face rests on his chest, gale shaking his head immediately, promising him that he has nothing to be sorry for, squeezing him tighter as he rocks him gently.

gale thinks about all the different ways he'd like to go out and murder that guard, almost scaring himself with the aggression he feels, but he shoves it down so john doesn't pick up on the red–hot anger, focussing that energy on holding john tight and whispering words of comfort until the sobs become quiet shudders, feeling him finally, slowly start to relax in his arms.

(gale probably hears john huff out a shaky little laugh when he tells him "that guard better sleep with one eye open until we get out of here" because the thought of gale actually being violent is laughable to him; he doesn't realize how much gale would really do for him, how much it hurt gale to see him stumble into the room like that.)

i'm very tired and bored rn, so I'm going to talk about my current hyperfixation! Here are my opinions that no one asked for or wanted on what type of music I think the different members of the Akatsuki would like. Sorry ahead of time if this is obnoxiously long and boring. Also, apologies for how my shitty taste in music is influencing this post.

Itachi: I think I mentioned this in a previous post, but I think he would like David Bowie's music (Specifically the albums from the early '70s, so Ziggy Stardust and the spiders from mars, Hunky Dory, and Aladdin Sane. Though I do think he would like the song Heroes a lot) I think he would also like queen, especially Queen II. He might also like Blondie and ABBA. He likes some more recent bands or music artists, such as the neighborhood (He probably only listens to chip chrome and the mono-tones though), Cults, Weyes blood, Cigarettes after sex, and Madilyn Mei.

Kisame: He would not listen to that much music, but when he does, he listens to a very random combination of a lot of genres. Like, I think he would like a combination of alternative rock, pop, hip-hop, but mainly instrumental or orchestral. He just gives off the vibe of someone who listens to instrumental music whenever he needs to focus on anything. My sibling once joked that he would like The Strokes, and honestly, I see it- I think he would really like Future, Present, Past , Comedown Machine, or is this it.

Deidara: Deidara would listen to everything, he is 100% the type of person to have an absurdly large collection of vinyls and CDs and way too many liked songs on whatever music streaming service he would use. He probably has headphones on, loudly playing music 24/7. His favorites would probably range from raditude by Weezer to the rise and fall of a Midwest princess to heathers: the musical. His playlists all have no overarching theme, he just puts his songs on whatever playlist he sees first. He would really like punk-rock/punk music and bands especially Sex Pistols or green day. I think he would listen to both mainstream and underground bands. He is the sort of person to like to pretend that he only listens to cool lesser known bands only, but he still somehow knows all the lyrics to the entire 1989 album. He would definitely like lights go out by LuLuYam. He would like Gorillaz.

Sasori: He exclusively listens to instrumental music but is super annoying about it, like he seems like the kind of person to act as if he is superior to others (Deidara) because he listens to more classy music. I feel like the one band that is not classical that he likes is Muse, though he would never admit it.

Hidan: Metal. He would like a lot of the classic metal bands like iron maiden, Metallica, etc. He would love Ghost. Whenever he would find out about a band he hadn't listened to before, he will 100% make it a decent portion of his whole personality for a few days. He and Deidara's music taste has some overlap, so I think they would often swap music recommendations. I think he would like songs with prominent bass lines and electric guitar solos.

Kakuzu: Jazz and classical.

Konan: I think Konan would have a few main genres of music she likes. She probably likes pop-punk and punk, garage rock, some metal, and even a bit of bedroom pop and indie pop. I think she would like The Clash a lot. She would like some Team Dresch songs mainly your hands my pockets. I think she would be a pretty big fan of Cigarettes after sex and TV Girl.

Nagato: He listens to Conan Gray. Konan totally had a Conan Gray phase and you can't change my mind, she introduced him to Conan Grays music, she is long past her Conan Gray phase, Nagato is not. He would like Kid Crow and Found Heaven.

Obito/tobi: While Tobi, he would play all the most annoying joke songs, much to Deidara's annoyance. I honestly can't decide on what type of music he would actually like, I feel like his taste in music would include some stuff Deidara introduced him to. He might like Arcade Fire. But mostly I think he would like sad sounding stuff, maybe Mitski, The Marías, Billie Eilish, and Alex G

I'm pagan, but I love hearing about other religions and despite living an hour from Deerborn (which has the largest muslim population outside the middle east) I know shockingly little about it. Like it was taboo to talk about.

The last time I did it was a girl in 5th grad showing me how to use scarves to make a hijabi and it was so magical to me. Because I'm latino and I live in a spanish/latin american country, even if given the chance of changing my name, I cannot choose one that would go well with my other surnames (because in here we have. Two. Of them). A lot of neutral names go hard but sadly is so rare compared to masc or fem names ;_;

My "dysphoria" (dysmorphia? Unhapiness? Moodiness? IDK????) isn't so bad in some days, it just gets bad when is either vacations or when I deeply think of it. Like I can perfectly go along with my body but there's moments where I'm too overwhelmed I ONLY think about it every day. And with vacations,,,,, to be fair I take it like what my psychologist say: is probably because I'm not busy with school so I have more time to think about myself I guess.

I CAN picture myself as a young woman, but ONLY for a few years. When I hear the word "womanhood", I feel a sense of,,,, don't know really. Dread? Uneasyness? Not too negative but not too positive. Definitely cannot picture myself as an old grandmother or some shit. I think I have to mention I don't have a good mental health, so maybe that's the reason as of the why. Or not. I don't know well.

And the last thing. The thought of being trans, especially rn, is scary. I've been hearing about what's happening with trans rights in the US. My country is kind of supportive at least, I've had a few trans friends and they're doing fine. But I fear about what if its ME and what will MY FAMILY do about it, especially my parents. I tried cutting my hair a few months ago and when my mom found out, it was the only thing she would rant about every week.

Sorry for another longer ask, I just need more thoughts. Heavy in the last part because even if it turns out to be true, I'm deeply afraid. I don't want to dissapoint anyone but I can't help but dread at how I am right now :-[

This man is so self-deprecating with his work sometimes, and it HURTS (doesn't feel like he's a 'real' artist and all, y'know?)

He was a bit of an asshole in the first game to Alice so obviously he's rather temperamental sometimes, doesn't listen to your advice all that much regarding it but will try. Eventually.

After the Dark Place he has definitely come to terms with his behavior and all so he's definitely being a lot nicer, a lot more cautious maybe and just wants to protect you but doesn't want to worry you too much

The thing with Scratch in the ending, the whole Alan has always been Scratch or something (its been a while since I've played AW2 but I've nearly 100% it!!)

Likely going to be very apologetic about Scratch, checking up on you often, and trying to make up for it as best he can despite being out of your life for thirteen years
