#fe fates #camilla #so i actually drew this a while ago but was gonna shade it and do more emoji things #but welp uh hmmmm im sick and apparently look like I'm dying #which isnt a problem until i sit down to draw and my vision is blurry and yeah thats a problem #so i just attempted to do a doodle and then failed and opted to apply a tiny but of shading to this and give up #but yup uh after a nice of body aches and misery and trying to sleep and failing #i crashed from 10am to 5pm thinking id just rest a lil bit #before anyone says oh you could have taken a day off you know - i technically can yes youre right #however my brain uses art as a coping mech and i need that coping mech really bad right now #which is why i stopped trying to draw something new for today and just went back to a past thing #im not overdoing it i promise #even if my mom and sister think i look like death walking around

He really is. So. So designed. And I fucking hate. HATE. How it All Fucking Works, Actually. But at what cost.... (my sanity.)

Things I go back and forth on:

Drawing the individual scales on his chainmail. It DOES look better if you go out of your way to do that. But for me it really just depends on the vibe of the piece (like this more serious endeavor I'm gonna draw each, but for quick sketches/shitposts I just do the wave. Equivalent of drawing a seagull like -> m )

Things I modify: Almost fucking everything. Next

Things I never include (and why):

> The gorget. The neck guard thing. It just makes posing a pain in the ass. You wouldn't think so, maybe. But for me the collar bone is huge in trying to get a sense for where everything should be! From posing to perspective even!!!

I dunno what happened but for a long while now I've noticed with my stuff on ao3 I'll get more kudos than comments

It feels like at best I might have one return commenter per story if I'm lucky. I used to have maybe a couple more but they've long vanished dunno if it's a case of people leaving fandoms or they're bored of my work or due to the fact there's no set upload date for fics cause weekly isn't possible for me currently it's overwhelming

Either way it's disheartening and a little demotivating just working on something, enjoying it and if you're lucky it getting a single comment

honestly i'm really happy that arjuna gets to be in another non-fgo game, not to be rude but i really dislike how wadarco draws him and rei wataru just does it a lot better

#arjuna could be (and should be) on like. top 20 beloved fate series character lists but his inclusion in grand order doesn't do him justice #wada draws him fine for artbooks but extella art never really seems to grasp what makes him like himself #possibly due to pako's slender figures somber moments and thin lines being at odds with wada's expressive eyes and gesture-filled art #i'm not great at explaining it but pako draws movement very expressively when they do (santkarn fa bhim fes ce)#while usually their characters feel very calm deliberate and still. while wada feels like they want to express momentum and scenes more #is this making sense? anyways. yay arjuna i need a new ssd before the game drops

I had a lot of the same issues with reload as I see you’re having, and I do think most of it is from the new team’s inexperience. They’re trying to recreate a game that made very purposeful decisions in its mechanics and cutscenes without understanding why those decisions were made, which really undermines the experience.

If the team had more experience under their belt, or had full creative decision on an entirely new game, I feel like they could make a really good game! Reload is not that though.

I completely agree anon. It's a shame too, because it's not an awful game, just a different one. I wish they hadn't tried to recreate FES as a test project on a shoestring budget when it was literally the benchmark for our modern Persona games. It changed so much, it's iconic, a cult classic.

I really wish they wouldn't have lied about not planning EpiAi beforehand so they could cover the fact that the game doesn't look all too good. I wish they hadn't charged $200 for an "Aigis Edition" and not include the dlc. I wish they hadn't sanitized and scrubbed the game about death and grieving of all things that were slightly upsetting. That's what ended up happening though, and as you said, they're trying to recreate a game that was very purposeful in its creation.

Reload was a cheap quick test that they knew would work because it has a wonderful story and dedicated fans. As long as they make it a fun popcorn game, they don't have to put in those purposeful additions or think about it much at all.

I was worried my fixation on fire emblem was going as I been obsessed with fire emblem for well over ten years and would be really upset if I wasnt obsessed anymore. but rn me and my wife are playing warriors and the obsession is back I'm begging her to play the old games and I just finshed a couple of the 3ds titles (would break out the old games but my laptop heats up a bunch and it's already to hot ;~;)

i think something that is important to me to remember is that there are small ways i can do things to spark joy for myself and others without waiting for someone else to do it... (conjures up little sparklies from my hands) life is so whimsical!!!

#lizzy speaks #for full transparency i cannot make sparklies emit from my hands unfortunately #but i can imagine that i can and i think thats cool i'm like a swaggy little magician #anyways sometimes i see announcements for games and im like #ok! cool! some people are very excited and happy. so awesome!! happy for them!!!#but personally i think i've found much more joy in doing my own thing #and it's ok if you're not particularly enthused about a new thingy because sometimes you still have other things you can do #or you have other things that feel much more gratifying to you. and thats ok!!!#this is a vague toward reload and splat3 (specifically splatfests)#it's become clear 2 me that reload is curating a different experience for pee 3 with the new mechanics they introduce #and i didn't realize how attached i was to how fes's mechanics (tiredness + fusion spells) can inform's one characterization of kitaro #until i kept seeing the new things for reload. still interested in reload's alternate interpretations but wont be following the news closel #and for splatfest. turf is not my favorite mode in splat by a long shot' but at least i can salmon with friends! or play another game #i think it's always important for me to remember that not everything will be for me and that's a good thing #when i see things that dont excite me as much. it reminds me about what i care about the most and to remember to hold those things close #i can make my own fun with my own little creations i don't need to wait for games to host events for me i can just draw silly little guys #or i can choose to make silly little clownery happen on my own terms and i think thats neat #even if i'm not hyped about something that others are hyped about that's okay because i'm nourishing myself and that's really fucking cool #and hey maybe i will find the joy in those things eventually. or not! and thats ok. who knows!! anything can happen!!#anyway if you read all of this thank you :3 and i hope that you will always be able to find your way to find something that excites you

in retrospect 3h world building was sooo funny. like yeah hold on guys my students at this super prestigious academy that's basically only for high born nobles and a few others who are lucky/rich enough to attend need to study for their exam to become *checks notes* a criminal

that nintendo direct was so horrible.

it was literally like 80 percent remakes and remasters.

never in my life have i seen an announcement video exist just to say "every game you've ever known since the 90s is being remade/remastered, sorry, we ran out of originality".

literally like all the video game market is anymore is remakes and the movie industry is just as bad.

the nso releases are fine because they're not like, remakes taking up full game slots. they're old games that are being made accessible and that's great... but there's no need to remake this many games when they can do that. remakes used to be rare. remember stuff like the wii u shop and stuff? with all the games they had on those things? now it's a tiny selection and everything else is a remake :/

also I feel like a lot of new rpgs are just like... lowkey fe knockoffs now instead of original rpgs.

i'm happy for like... two existing remakes, but one of them is mario rpg which people wanted waaaaAAAAAYYYY before the remake and remaster era, and the other is baten kaitos which im not actually happy about remaster-wise (the updated ui is trash, they took out very specific charms of the original ui), just happy that it will get more recognition/notice from people since it was never popular.

they also completely removed the english voice acting which like okay yeah it wasn't always that great but the voices fit perfectly and it wasn't as bad as fans meme on it for! it just sounded like they were talking through a tube and that was actually the worst part of it lol.

someone suggested to me that they may have just lost the data for it, but idk. i wish they'd just admit that somehow if it was the case, because it bugs me that the english audio is just completely gone when ultimately i really liked it. i wanted the game to be accessible to newer players, sure, but i also wanted the english audio there. ig that's because i grew up with it and i liked it, but it's still such a bummer for me!

paper mario being put on the nso and tyd getting a whole remaster does make me sad tho bc it feels like they're leaving the original in the dust when it was so good. if you're gonna do tyd, at least do them both.

good for innersloth though, i'm sure they never imagined being on a nintendo direct. they're the real winners here.

Quick little update on the Fire Emblem DND!

Both the prologue and chapter one are complete!

I've also decided to include both the laguz and beasts from fe9/10 and fe 13/14 and also heroes cause my players wanted them too.

They're there and now i gotta figure out a way to incorporate everyone!

I've figure I'm gonna use the tree of life as something important to the story... the Kabbalah if you will.

Since i have seen it used in other media, I'm gonna take a page out of that.
